Is it worth it to unlock gold in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

- I ask you the question if unlocking gold in Mario kart is worth it.
In short, no.
Otherwise it is an alright challenge, but should not be done to unlock anything special. The only other unlock you can get when completing something like 200cc is the alternate title screens which ti me is worth it, but to you maybe not. The gold kart, gold tires, gold glider, and gold Mario are all just fun collectables for Mario kart enthusiasts. - เกม

UPDATE (05/06/23): Hi everyone. I should say here that the comments have brought to my attention some false information I said in this video.
1. I was completely unaware you did not have to complete speeds lower than 150cc. Either mirror or 150cc is important to this.
2. Yes, I know it isn't 10,000 coins, it is 5,000. I corrected myself in the video. Should I have put in a sound effect to let you know there was text on-screen fixing my mistake?
2:59 I did not say you had to get 3 stars for 200cc. I said "To me this was pretty difficult, but only because I wanted to get triple stars for every cup I played in." you only need 1 star. (or maybe just 1st)
4. I was informed that 3 stars for all is how you get the alternate title screens.
5. There is also a "Gold steering wheel" you can get on your online profile for using motion controls. Because this is a temporary badge, It was not included in this video.
I think That covers everything for now. I had comments of my own on this video, but I must have deleted them at some point.

You actually just have to get 1 star in all cups in just Mirror Mode to get the Gold Standard Kart body.
Same can apply to Gold Mario, needing to get 1 star in all cups in just 200cc.

You don't need stars to unlock gold Mario, you just need gold

You got gold mario Along with I think gold something because gold something unlocks when you win all Grand Prix so you get gold Mario and gold something at the same time

@@HezakHQ the golden steering wheel is more known for mk7, but it is in mk8 deluxe, just not many ppl know about it. you have to play 50 races online (win or lose) with motion controls. that doesn’t sound too bad…except for the fact that you can lose it if you go back to using stick controls too much

I collect coins by playing coin battle and setting the timer to 8 minutes and turning items off. I average 50-75 coins per race.
I have completed all of the gold challenges for MK8D and honestly I think most of it is worth doing, not only are you being rewarded with new items but going against the staff and getting 1st in all of the 200cc races definitely made me better at Mario Kart, I think if your newish to the game and want to improve and want a challenge the gold set is perfect to you

Coming from someone who pre-ordered the original Mario Kart 8 and 100% completed it, I was really burnt out when it came to Mario Kart and after picking up my pre-order of Deluxe needless to say I only played it for a few weeks and didn't really touch enough it after that. But since the pandemic started in 2020 my older brother and I started to reconnect so I started playing Nintendo switch and catching up with them throughout the weeks. And eventually it inspired me to just 100% the game. (again)
First, was the glider, then Kart, the Gold Mario, I recently finished all of the time trials and won the gold tires. I will say cutting the golden glider unlock from 10,000 all the way down to 5000 made it feel less rewarding compared to the original Wii U version but oh well.
(It felt satisfying to watch the credits with my brother after we finally completed the lightning cup on 200cc with Triple Stars after finally grinding it out together for weeks.)
Whenever I'm not playing Bowser or my Mii, Gold Mario is very fun to race with! I recently finished up with the four DLC booster pass cups and I can't wait for Wave 3 on December 7th! All four gold items are totally worth it. Especially if you're willing to grind for the perfect triple star rating.🥇🎊🏆
I thought the only gold unlockable in the game was gold Mario until recently when I unlocked the gold glider then googled how to obtain the car and wheels. Didn’t take long at all but god it’s so disappointing how horrible the all gold setup is.

For gold Mario you dont need to get Three stars in every 200cc cup, you just need to be first in point on the cup witch means you can get at least 2 or 3rd in one race :)

Thank you for the info. I was worried i hadnt won all the staff times yet. One just has to go to the very starting screen for it to pop up with the reward.
My order:
Gold glider: very easy if you play the game
Gold cart: 150cc is a breeze besides the red shell spam but mirror was hell since I memorized every track layout
Gold mario: honestly when you learn 200cc it becomes easier than 150cc
Gold tires: these were so annoying to unlock because I play with auto accelerate so I don’t get arthritis. Really took a toll on my thumb
once you learn what the b button does in the game 200cc stops being hard lol
I did the 3 star thing on mkwii. It was a fun challenge. I also got the gold steering wheel online and I think I maxed out my rating too. I can’t remember about the rating for sure though.
The only one I don’t have is the gold tires because I don’t care enough to put that much effort into time trials
You can make everything but the wheels easier by playing in multiplayer. Have player 2 act as support and its significantly easier to win at 200cc Also any coins they get are added to your total.
Honestly, here’s my beliefs:
Gold Kart, easiest one to get by far with just a bit of effort.
Gold Mario and Gold Tires are tied for me because they are same difficulty.
Golden Glider is HELL, I did everything else and I only had like 3000-4000 coins, had to grind like all hell for it.
Just unlocked Golden Mario today and absolutely it is! Golden Mario looks amazing!
Huh, I actually had no idea how I unlocked the cart/statue/glider until I saw this. The glider was a real surprise, as I just got it recently. Now I’ll have to go for those wheels to complete the set.
Good luck, as someone who has 150+ hrs in this game and all cosmetics, I can say the Gold tires are the hardest cosmetic to get.
I think the gold tires are the hardest to get. I have the gold cart and gold Mario, the gold glider is just a matter of time, but those tires takes real skill.

The order i got my gold set was gold mario, gold standard, gold wheels, gold glider

First in mirror + 200cc. And yes, they make you sit through the credits for it, or at least as far as i know. I don't remember if the credits were skippable or not.

I just unlocked all the gold prices. It was mainly for completion sake. I decided to do a few online races with it to flex and it SUCKS. I didn’t win a single race. If your not a completionist I would not recommend getting these parts.
Skill issue
Any tips on loading screens? I hear you have to get gold trophies on everything but was unsure if you had to watch credits afterwards. Just asking since your a completionist like myself. Sorry lol.

Just use the gold setup with a small character,it aint bad

I would say gold mario is the easiest, turn on smart steering and you can autopilot bacicly unto you get him, thats what i did because i normally do 150cc

since you can unlock everything online, gold only gives you a golden kart? i only use bikes so if the reward is a kart it's useless. i did love to unlock things in mario kart wii.. i didn't have galaxy so to unlock rosalina the hard way feeled very good. mario kart 8 might be bigger, but also more boring.. especially online since when people have the option to choose between rainbow road bowsers castle or moo moo meadows.. you already know you get moo moo meadows 10x in 1 hour.. it's 1 of the reasons i quit.. talking about 2014 on the wii u btw

0:25 Wrong. In Deluxe, it is unlocked by getting at least one star in every cup on 150cc only. 50cc and 100cc have absolutely no influence in this at all.

This whole thing pisses me off. Every Mario kart game I play on the fastest mode. There’s no point In me racing slower. The point is to be as good of racer as possible. I’ve got 3 gold stars on every cup and couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting all this stuff. Im not going to race at 150 cc let alone 50 cc. That was a dumb move Nintendo. I raced the fastest you offer and you make me have to go slower to unlock stuff………. Seriously who’s idea was that?
