"Does he just have the plague, because he's the Rat?" made me LOL. No, he's got bad asthma and a tendency to bronchitis/pneumonia. That's why Hatori in his first appearance was scolding him for not showing up for his regular check-up.
13:20 So the reason for this, at least what i think anyway, is because these scenes are through the lense of Yuki's memory for this episode and the previous one. He never really saw people being mean to Kyo because he was never really around Kyo that much. Also, because of the trauma Yuki has suffered, his memory is likely patchy and he can only remember the bad parts about himself. This is why when we see flashbacks from Kyo's perspective we see a completely different Yuki than what we expect from what we know of his past
I agree. Yuki and Kyo look at each other and see only those parts that make them envious. But Kyo didn't really have any of the things Yuki wanted and Yuki didn't have what Kyo wanted either. Long story short: They just don't understand one another at all, even though they're actually very similar. How could they if Kyo refused to get to know Yuki and Yuki gave up on the possibilty of them being friends
Not entirely. He seems aware that Kyo is the outcast of the family. After all, he acknowledges Kyo’s pain enough to believe that if he “disappeared”, Kyo might be happier. And Akito had no problem using Kyo (and Haru) to make Yuki feel guilty. What Yuki sees IS Kyo having better relationships over all. Kazuma as a parental figure, some Zodiac members as a companions at the very least, and ofc, he is able to make outsider friends alot easier and safer than Yuki. That IS true. Imo Yuki is not thinking Kyo isn’t treated differently by the family, but rather he sees that Kyo DOES have relationships that actually matter and are healthier. Ultimately, both Yuki and Kyo project their issues onto each other but it’s more so in Kyo’s case. Yuki would still at least acknowledge that Kyo has had it tough, while Kyo would never acknowledge that, at least until his confession to Tohru.
Yay, I wasn't expecting this reaction so soon! 👏 Your face when you realized the age gap between Shigure and Akito 😂 Yeah, Shigure is 6/7 years older, and Akito is around 3/4 years older than Yuki (at current time, S is 28, A is 21/22 and Y is 18). This is the first episode where we saw Akito be something other than an absolute monster: a bratty, spoiled child, yes, but according to Yuki, clearly something happened that started all the madness. I thought you were going to talk about it a bit but that's ok, it just makes me more excited for the next reactions :) (and honestly, every episode from now until the end of the show is a banger, I cannot wait)
Aaah this is my favourite (and one of the saddest) episode!! Also one of my favourite fruits basket reveals... great reaction too, you accepted it so calmly lol 😂
For all my love for Kyo, he is being unfair to Yuki, and he has his reasons. But clearly, he has it easier than Yuki on the relationship side. He may be the cat but had friends, an adoptive father who loves him. Yuki, despite being the cat, was isolated and hated. And that can be seen by the way they both act around other. Yuki is closed off while Kyo is only uncomfortable because of the attention he's getting. Now, knowing that Yuki and Isuzu are both looking for the same thing, it's really heartwarming how welcoming Tohru is with all of them. And that erase the love triangle completely. Yuki is not interested, he just momzoned Tohru x) Now, I have a question for you. Considering Akito's age at that time, his behavior, do you think he got all those ideas by himself or was he influenced by someone or something else ? Like the god spirit for example, or Shigure, since they were close at that time (and Akito seems to dislike how detached Shigure is now). Because to me, it seems like a child repeating what they here. He couldn't have know about Kyo's mother letter, for example.
I disagree that Kyo had it easier. I believe both children have been severely damaged by the traumas that they had to endure in their life but the traumas were different for both and based on their personalities, they have different coping mechanisms to deal with it. Spoilers: On surface it might look like Kyo has friends and has better relationships with people but his friendship with zodiac members are not as genuine as it seems, it’s been stated that others were approaching Kyo to use him to feel better about themselves because at least they’re not like him also Shigure talk about this in season 3 what is really cat’s role for them. Just like how Yuki has been conditioned by Akito to believe that he’s useless and no one loves him, Kyo has been conditioned to believe by everyone around him including the people in the state that he is a monster that killed his own mother, he literally watched his mother killed herself in front him, that is not an image you could ever erase from a child’s mind and this could affect you for life, not to mention his father didn’t help at all and blamed everything on him, he was carrying too much false guilt that was overwhelming so he needed an outlet and based on her mother suicide note, it makes perfect sense why Kyo made things personal with Yuki on the other hand Yuki had no reason to hate Kyo but it was different for Kyo, He NEEDED that hate to survive, that was the only way he could cope until he’s ready to start healing, yes he had Kasimo that gave him hope to live but he wasn’t enough, even Kasimo himself admitted that he doesn’t know how to help Kyo because his traumas go beyond that, so I don’t think one is dealing better than the other one, they have different traumas and they both tried to cope with it in their own way, the only way they know they can and they’re both healing at their own pace. Yuki was Akito’s scapegoat, kyo was the whole somas family scapegoat. They’re both victims of childhood abuse and it shouldn’t be any competition who had it worse.
@@mahamoon1917 I'm not saying it like it's a competition. I completely understand where Kyo is coming from and he suffered as much as Yuki. It's just that growing up, I identified more with Yuki because we had similar experiences. I'm just taking the story from Yuki's perspective here. At least, he tried to conect with Kyo whenthe other just rejected him. And he had people to rely upon, even if it wasn't genuine at first, even if it was difficult. As Yuki said in episode 3, not being kick can hurt more than. And it's a reccurent theme around Yuki, with Ayame who prefers to have some kind of bound with rather than none, or Kakeru who was rude instead of seeing him as perfect, or Tohru who prefers to suffer from her mom's death reatehr than forgetting she was even there to begin with (and as someone who lost her mother at 11 but don't remember her at all not sickly, it land) or, even if I won't go into spoiler territory, with Akito's part of the story. It would be stupid to class their suffering but depending on your experiences, some situation are easier to feel for than other. And again, I ove Kyo as a character and I could gave the same type of writting if I was taking his side of the story. But this is a Yuki centric episode, it's about how he reflects on his life.
@@mahamoon1917no matter where the care came from at first, it's still a big of a reassurance that someone was there for you. when they say kyo had it easier, it means he had at least a presence he can rely on, some ears who could listen to him, some eyes who would watch the things he's doing. while yuki has been struggling to be seen, to be heard and to be appreciated. it's the basic things he deserves yet he couldn't even get a single of it and up till his teen years, he's still locked up. even tho kyo was fated to be jailed as a cat, he still lived the life. and yes, for kazuma it isn't enough but for kyo, it is. kazuma's presence still made him genuinely happy. coz at least, there is "someone". did you see yuki has that kind of a bit of happiness before tohru entered in his life? no. yuki was fated to be near akito and dying every day.

Rats do have lung issues tho so uh... honestly it may be because he's a rat, it's just not a plague
The hat has another plot point, just keep watching! So excited for that reveal!

This is only one half of the hat story. The hat has a lot more to it. Keep watching! Waiting for the next reactions
like a MOTHER
05:00 And most importantly no one is helping or even correcting Akito.
Ive never thought of yuki being born weaker/sick as him being connected to rats having carried the plague :0 MAYBE!
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
