  • Originally this was supposed to be a 2 night 3 day trip. Although Mother Nature on night 2 had us bail. Last minute I invited my friend Eric, which made for a fun experience. We did not anticipate the cold temps (20 degrees) + wind (50 mph gusts). I had a 30 degree bag, Eric had a quilt with a summer sleeping pad plus we both had a bivy with tarp. Regardless we made the right decision. On the bright side we slept at the boulder field on night 1 with great weather and got to summit Longs Peak with little to no people.
    Cheers

@AndyOnTheMountain yeah we did! It was pretty cool my favorite backpacking trip though still has to be Maroon bells. Have you had a chance to do that one

Awesome trip ! Do you get condensation inside your bivy ? I seem to get a lot, enough to dampen my sleeping bag. Stay safe out there 👍

Hey Andy, during this trip I didn't have any condensation. Although a previous trip last winter when I used this bivy I did have condensation. It's hit or miss. Wind and low humidity I think it the best chance to not have any of the condensation.
      What bivy do you have?
