There's plant pots, Kryptonite, flaming aeroplanes, vomit and Jacob Kane with his trusty Desert Eagle. Can it truly shoot through anything?

I don't get why this other actress also had to be lesbian. Like the name Batwoman doesn't automatically mean you have to be lesbian, there was a movie where 3 different women were batwoman, and were all straight

@@TheNoonish I understand the sentiment, but it's a plant. They could have chosen anything to be a memento, and they chose something as absurd as a plant. It's hard to take seriously when someone screams over the loss of a potted plant. It could have been a picture that Elliot rips up or something else like a single piece of jewelry or fine china that she owns, but her plant had it's pot broken.
Out of curiosity, what do you think is more valuable to her, the pot or the plant? Will next episode feature Batwoman re-potting the plant, or gluing the pot back together and putting a new plant inside it? Knowing the show they will forget all about it, but I hope this becomes a major plot point because I know it will end up being stupid and funny.

Now that a gay black woman is the lead, Luke has NO hope of ever being taken seriously by the writers.
It was arguable if he was as progressive as Kate before, but now? He’s 100% outclassed.
He's the only likable character in this show IMO and they're ruining him by making him a Kate Kane fanatic. Saw a preview where he was taking shots at Sophie not being there for Kate, bloody hell she was horrible to Sophie f*** off! In fact she was horrible to almost everyone she knows

I still just find it hilarious that they make their black woman replacement for Batwoman a homeless ex-con who, upon seeing a horrific crash that leaves multiple people dead around her, immediately loots the wreckage so she can go off on how much of a victim she is.
Honestly, if they wanted to do the criminal angle, why not just copy Jason Todd or something? Maybe in the past, as a teenager, she tries to rob someone or Batman himself, he feels bad for her and takes her in. He then trains her as a Batgirl/Robin, but after he disappears in the show, she leaves herself. Only coming back to Gotham after hearing about Batwoman making the news, conveniently right after Kate Kane disappears. Just say she was in Bludhaven the entire time or something. It'd make much more sense, give her a backstory to play off of, and allow her to have Bat-person training.
It's even funnier when you remember that she was framed for the crime she was sent to prison for and is a self-proclaimed good person.

She did research to figure what number her mother was in childbirth deaths in that year and uses it as justification to taking the mantle. I fear the victim complex will be so big even Alice will tell her to tone it down. I don't get why they choose this new character rather than just making Sophie Batwoman. She's trained, an established character, and it could be poetic where Kate put on the suit when she went missing and now she's doing the same for her.

Thoughts for consumption after this episode:
Tommy Elliot was sent to Arkham with full knowledge of who Batman is, and he can prove it by telling anyone how to get into the Batcave. He can tell every criminal in Arkham how to get into the Batcave.
But it’s okay because the writers are restricted from using 90% of Arkham’s inmates.
Which is a plothole itself since he shouldn't even BE in Arkham. He's not crazy, he's just a asshat who hates Bruce in this series.
Which is why in the comics, the Batfamily just put him in their own personal cell for him far from public eyes.

Logic has no place in this world
Kryptonite poisoning facts that this show will get completely wrong:
- It takes *years* of constant exposure to a *significant amount* of Kryptonite to get poisoned.
- Kryptonite poisoning gives the afflicted cancer, presumably leukemia or skin cancer since it's never expressly stated that a specific organ is affected over the others.
- Kryptonite is brittle like any sort of crystalline substance. This means shooting it out of a shotgun would turn it into dust or at least a spray of shards. Edit) In Batman/Superman: World's Finest, Joker breaks off a dragon statue made of Kryptonite with his bare hands and later Batman breaks off a piece of it with tweezers to log as evidence. I can't stress this enough, Kryptonite is NOT super durable on its own. You have to temper it in order to make it really tough, just like with pretty much anything else. Edit 2) This is why BatFleck has to do a bunch of special stuff to the Kryptonite he has in order to make the Kryptonite spear. He didn't just duck tape a stick to the shards of Kryptonite and go fight Clark. This is also how he is able to make Kryptonite gas grenades, because it's possible to change its state from solid to gas. When BvS makes more sense than you, you need to rethink your entire life.
- If Kryptonite is lodged inside of someone's body for a few hours, as long as they get it all out, the wound will not have radiation poisoning effects on it because, once again, Kryptonite poisoning takes years of constant exposure to happen.
- Lex Luthor injected Kryptonite into his bloodstream for several years before he showed any signs of cancer. So once again, a single Kryptonite bullet will not and cannot cause Kryptonite poisoning after a few hours. That's stupid.
- Kryptonite poisoning was created as a poetic punishment for Lex Luthor because of his evil deeds with Kryptonite for all his years fighting against Superman. It is literally supposed to be a slow burn, cruel irony that the one substance he could count on to hurt Superman was now the thing that would finally kill him in the slowest cruelest way possible. That's why it exists. Not as a plot device for some dumbass wannabe Bat whore.
So Smallville with it's multiple colored superpower inducing Kryptonite variants is still somehow more accurate about how Kryptonite works than this show?

Someone said this on JLongbone video so I'm gonna repeat it here. Why didn't they just make Sophie, Batwoman if they wanted a black batwoman? It would have made more sense.

Sophie is an established character that's relatively likable, has relationships with the other existing characters, and already has the same existing basic skillset as Kate. It would have made perfect sense for Sophie to take over as Batwoman. Therefore, Sophie could not be Batwoman, because making sense is not what this show does.

When watching this episode, I initially thought we would get some sort of arc regarding Fake Bruce that would span at least a few episodes. Then I remembered the breakneck speed Batwoman goes at, and I instantly knew this would be wrapped up in only one episode.
To be fair even though it feels like it should be, it lasted longer than I expected it to, because Luke should have noticed instantly that there was something wrong with him and that he probably wasn’t Bruce, with how weird he was acting
@@brandonm1708 Funny thing is, the same thing happened in the comics, Tommy using his surgeon skills to mask his normal face and a little bit of Clayface's mud. The Batfamily saw through his disguise but decided to use him to keep Bruce's identity safe after he died in Final Crisis.

Having an arc following fake Bruce Wayne might have been the most interesting thing they could have done. It would have given Alice some resources to work with.

Kate is telling Jacob that they are both on the same side before being shot in the head with the kryptonite gun then pulling her cowl.

For all of you keeping track of the number of people Alice has murdered, don’t forget the girl that was still in FakeBruce’s bed. When Alice murdered the first, FakeBruce’s angrily pointed out that she hadn’t come to the house alone. Considering that Alice then proceeded to stay in Wayne manor at her leisure while FakeBruce went off, it seemed pretty clear that she killed the other girl as well.
I wonder how that will affect Bruce Wayne' reputation. Wouldn't the police be all over Wayne manor looking for clues and then find the batcave...
@@SwiftNimblefoot You'd think so, but that also brings up something else that has been confusing me. I had assumed from the moment it was revealed that the 'Batcave' under the Wayne Enterprises building was essentially an outpost created so Bruce wouldn't need to go all the way back to Wayne manor if he suddenly needed to Batman. So, fittingly, it's tiny and underequipped compared to what we understand about virtually every other version of the Batcave. This one has a couple display cases of underwhelming tech, a suit, and a computer console. At bare minimum, I assumed that the 'real' Batcave would be bigger and include the iconic Batmobile, to say nothing of all the other stuff we've seen there in other renditions of the cave.
But then, not only is this bare-bones outpost increasingly referred to as 'the Batcave,' we get S2E1 revealing that the Batmobile was just behind a wall. Not only that, Crisis revealed that there totally _is_ a Batcave under Wayne manor, so...I have no idea what's going on. There's a tiny, stupid version of the Batcave in the wrong place that's being treated like the actual Batcave, but we're also supposed to understand that there's a real Batcave in the proper location that just never gets mentioned.
@@SwiftNimblefoot I actually wonder if they bothered to clear up that "Bruce" in this episode was Hush to the other characters, considering that investigating the murder or just having the media look into "Bruce Wayne is back?" stories would mean a lot of cover up work for 1 or Both Batcaves we know about (at Wayne Enterprises and at Wayne Manor).
They already know about people with fake faces, so just chalk Hush up to "a guy with a fake face who wanted Bruce's resources", and that both protects real Bruce's reputation and means less stuff to hide.

@Isle OfDonSpuart Dunno about regular guest, but in a bizarre move for an actor, there's not a single political thing on his twitter from the last week or so, unfortunately a lot of gushing over Batwoman so maybe he'd agree to turn up for a bit of an episode if people point out that he's one of the few things EFAP liked about the show.
I'm black and I'm tired of the constant my actions are justified because I am a statistic narrative that these shows force in turning it into social/political commentary. I started reading the batwoman comics and Kate Kane was kicked out of the military because of the don't as, don't tell policy that was reversed in the obama presidency but they set this show after the obama presidency while the comics are set before so that was solely commentary dialogue. just sucks that we live in an era where social and political commentary are prioritized over a good story and good characters.

As was foretold by the ancient spiders, the tale of Batwoman continues. When we left off last season, the beloved yet terrible Ruby Rose had left the show, leaving our heroes distraught and concerned for the “quality” of the series. Buzzfeed, last year, went into production on a movie about the infamous event of GamerGate, titling the film 1UP. It was originally going to star Elliot/Ellen Page, but she left production and our favorite lesbian Ruby Rose came in to take the lead role.

Bruce wayne spent years training in martial arts and his understanding of detective work with the intent of becoming a vigilante. He devoted himself to becoming Batman to a point where Bruce Wayne became the mask. (mind you, I'm pulling most of this from TDK trilogy since this show frequently invites comparison to it)
Kate Kane was top of her class at a military academy she dropped out of and took some weird survivalist freezing water training. She decides to be Batwoman for the specific reason of saving her ex and then decides to stick with it.
Ryan is an MMA fighter that got sent to a women's prison for 18 months and thinks that means she has a degree in criminal psychology. She wants the suit for revenge.
TLDR: As the mantle passes, it seems that it requires less experience, training, and motive to be Gotham's protector. Honestly if you want to be Batman/woman, ask yourself this, can you get past Luke?

Remember when the batsuit was a tool used by batman to enhance his abilities (and hide his identity) and not the source of his potential to fight crime? That was a nice era in media. Someone should really do a video comparing Arthur talking to his social worker to Ryan talking to her parol officer. It says so much about the writers that when Ryan goes off on her parol officer how she's a victim and it's not her fault, it's everyone else's. It's *society's* fault. But in Arthur's scene the social worker comes back at him with the fact that no one is out to get him, it's just that no one gives a shit about him or her. Really makes you think.

What's even more thonk there is that Joker shows a lot of where Arthur's mindset is coming from. While blaming all of society is a leap, we do in fact see how people from several rungs of the social ladder wrong him over the course of the film, so it's easy to see how he thinks this even if you're like the social worker and don't believe it. So while Arthur obviously spirals to a deranged and broken killer, the film makes a point to show what he went through that turned him from a reasonably moral individual into the damaged individual he is by the end.
Meanwhile with Ryan, it's mostly telling us this because we come in after the shit has happened, the only flashback we get is with Alice killing her adopted Mom (and she doesn't exactly represent the system), and she just jumps straight into Batwomaning (with the stolen suit from a PLANE CRASH) while patting herself on the back, so we barely see how Ryan herself interacts with the normal world outside that conversation. Essentially we only have Ryan's word to go off for how society wrongs her/people like her within what the story shows, and her behavior is so amoral in the episode that it really paints the idea she's biased or has a persecution complex, without any of the grounded-from-their-perspective evidence that Arthur emphasized.

The guy who had to earn the right to become Batman and when he stole the batsuit was paralyzed by the security override by Bruce Wayne himself and told to return the suit? He was a Whitney bitchy “muh oppression” token of the week and he damn sure didn’t get to push Bruce Wayne around. God what a world we live in.

There's so many things wrong with how they wrote off kate... So I'm gonna list them!
1. Luke already knows how to destroy kryptonite. He literally did it in the finale of the last episode.
2. Does Kate have no form of communication with Supergirl? They've met twice now. There has to be some way to call her in during the next terrible crossover. Supergirl could fly over to her city in a matter of minutes.
3. If she wanted Supergirl's help to destroy the kriptonite, wouldn't she have to bring it with her? She brought her suit, so she surely isn't worried about getting caught with it.
4. Isn't Kate a billionaire? Surely security would be pretty airtight on her jet since she knows people like Alice would be out to get her. It wouldn't make sense if she was flying publicly, but surely it would be tough to know the exact flight Kate was on if that was the case. Maybe this will be explained with some offhanded line in the future, like everything else.
5. Why would they wait to blow the plane up once it got back to Gotham? If it's a flyable distance, that's a long time to wait. Once again, this one depends on how the explosion happened.
6. No matter how the plane exploded, wouldn't it be much easier just to take her out when she's just walking around? As the EFAP crew said, a plot sniper would be very handy.
This show sucks. I hope it never ends.

As she watches a man, who she needs to save to save the universe, get pushed into a generator and electrecuted to death over the course of eight full seconds.
In regards to the Kryptonite. In the comics the traditional green version is deadly to all Kryptonians but was harmless to humans. In the last 30 years the comics retconned that it was also hazardous to humans as well, not to the instant degree with Superman but long term exposure has terminal effects on humans; Lex Luthor once had his hand amputated because he wore a Kryptonite ring and over time he got cancer from it.
The Smallville tv show used Kryptonite as a method that gave people powers which corrupted them to evil which gave Clark Kent villains to deal with every week.
Chances are the Batwoman "creative" team are probably going with that approach.

I personally don’t find this season as funny as the first. That’s partly because the politics, and Batwoman herself, went from laughable to frustrating, but also because Jacob is so sad, maybe the only time the show has made me feel what I think it intended.
