Mine arrived today and I fished with it for about 3 hours. I'm impressed with the initial experience of using this 70$ reel for finesse applications. Pros: 1. Good casting distance and accuracy (this is even without the upgrade bearings which have not arrived yet). Lightest lure used was a 2.5 g Kenart Diver. 2. Drag star clicks, Spool tensioner clicks, it has a drag clicker (not too loud but better than not having one). 3. I had a few backlashes when casting into the wind but did not experience the line going under the spool. I was using Berkley X9 8 Lb. test - 0.10mm diameter (mediocre line, would not recommend). 4. It's light, not as light as my 16 Aldebaran BFS but close enough. 5. Looks are not bad on this reel. Cons: 1. Worst thumb bar I have experienced on a baitcaster. If there is a QC process at Tsurinoya this part should have not passed the quality check. If you start shaking the reel and you hear a clickety-clack it's caused by the poor tolerances of the thumb bar. 2. The handle looks cool but the feel of the hard plastic knobs is not pleasant. Will replace it with a more ergonomic handle even if it doesn't look as good. IGN: 7.5/10 My score will probably increase once I install the extra bearings and replace the handle. Doubt I can fix/improve the thumb bar.
Thanks for sharing. Totally agree with everything you said. The thumb bar needs improving, especially when spool's released; knobs will be matter of taste (I love them).👌
Great vid and nice reel. The problems with line going behind the spool is common on CDM BFS reels.I think the Dark Wolf may have a bit of stiff competition with the new Kingdom Micro monster ,I have one and it's awesome .
Hi, would this reel be any good for light pike work casting lures of around 7-15gram. If not, could you please recommend a bait caster which could do the job.
I bought my 1st ever baitcaster reel and it just happened to be a tsurinoya dark wolf, all i hear is problems. Problems with the brakes and now with the line catching. I wish i could get my money back. I really hope you read this my friend 😢
I'm confused on how you fixed the problem. Did you just change to the tysuranoia brand of line and the problem stopped. Because I am currently having the same issue with my dark wolf ultra
I bought the same braid and didn’t work for me, for some reason even snapped mid air and lost a nice rapala lure. I’m going to try a slightly thicker braid, maybe that would fix the backlash
Great channel Andrew and thanks for your research and info. I have had a DWU for about 6 months and I am in full agreement with you, it is a great reel for the price and even better after adding additional magnets, though I upgraded mine a while back with 4 magnets as advised by Needhams tackle. Shall I spend £300+ on a high-end JDM in the future?? It won’t catch me anymore fish that’s for sure! Love your channel 👍
@@gatovipfitness3215 I usually go with 4 , 6 or 8 lb. braid on my BFS setups. Line of choice: Sufix NanoBraid (reasonable price), Sufix 131 (pretty expensive) + some fluorocarbon leader.
I’m using 0.6 and I’ve snapped off mid cast twice and it’s my first time out with the reel. Do you think that’s why it’s snapping mid cast because my braid is to thin
It happens sometimes with any reel and I personally choose line diameter according to the situation/presentation needed and not according to "braid is to thin for baitcaster".
Whats the benefit of using braid rather than fluro on BFS? I switched from braid because I got tired of having to tie a leader on every time I went fishing.
Nah YGK is biggest shit I ever bought. Four my friends and nie just bought YGK x8 and x4 and pe0.6 have like 3lb durability on knot 😆 Imagine catching a ASP on this shit

which one is better?
Tsurinoya DWU vs Kastking Valiant eagle II
Hi Andrew have you used this set up for perch fishing yet be interested to see how it performs for the xul/ul perch fishing ? Thanks and tight lines
Yes I have. It works really well as it does for big Chub etc.
Great as always. I have all the JDM spinning equipment and I started with the DWU and I had so much fun I ordered the Aldebaran BFS 2022.
Thanks for sharing.
Great solution! I do think that the braid needs to be very supple to be using thicker diameters for BFS, right?
I wouldn't 'very supple'. To my umderstanding too supple braids is the reason for line going under the spool.
Can u throw heavier lures with that like 10 or 15 grams?
It's rated up 15 g. but I personally would use something different to cast 15 g. regularly..

I would look elsewhere. Lurestar C9 is better for a bit heavier lures. Also Piscifun Alloy M.

Works great and good solid much better then the Aldebaran XG I had and no spool issue about line

Yes, thicker and better quality braid.

Make a video on how to spool bfs reel
Will consider it. Thanks.
I love that line
Same here.

Which.magnets you Buy for the reel? Name of Brand or link? Thx
Dude like your channel but im new on this what braid would be in pounds
He is using 14lb Tsurinoya braided line. Really depends on the maker but around 14-15 lb for 0.14mm diameter.
@@technicallycorrect838 thanks bud, isnt 14 lb braid over the top on ul or light fishing??

@@technicallycorrect838 yeah thats my gi to pound on ul or l, 14 pounds might aswell use a normal baitcaster
Thanks.

0.6 is too thin for baitcaster. In general it gets trouble free as the line gets thicker. 1.0 is just enough for baitfinesse reels.
It happens sometimes with any reel and I personally choose line diameter according to the situation/presentation needed and not according to "braid is to thin for baitcaster".
Or the bait your casting is too heavy
Enjoy your videos, keep it up!
Thanks.
Would you go for this or the kastking zephyr
I don't own Zephyr. It can't be bad I would imagine.
Great channel, Thanks mate.
Cheers.
I have a shimano kairiki g5 0.13(real 0,13mm)for my dwu but is New and. I. Dont. Try IT out you think is. Ok?
Yes, should be ok.
tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra vs Kastking Valiant eagle II

can you choose one for me sir
from indonesia 🇲🇨😬
Histar Aurora.
@@AndrewsKnots thx uncle, i bought tsurinoya DWU 1 year ago
You don't need line that heavy for bfs I use 4lb braid no problems only once gone be hind spool ,dial it in right and away you go
Whats the benefit of using braid rather than fluro on BFS? I switched from braid because I got tired of having to tie a leader on every time I went fishing.
Feel more bit's with braid
I shared what worked for me. Thanks.

YGK is usually fine for me BUT X4 I've found has very average abrasion resistance.
