    As someone who bought a collection of over 250000 in essentially bulk, I appreciate seeing how you handle things. The box cost investment was crazy to begin with, and I eventually sold it to the guy I split it with because I didn't want to deal with it anymore

    Yep, I built my shops foundation on this idea. Before I opened I was running a small "shop" out of an empty room in my house. I would buy bulk collections and send them in to Troll & Toads fulfilment service. I'd make between 500-1k a month doing that. Its a fuck ton of work and you can get burnt out super quick. Now that I have a shop, I rotate who sorts each week and for how long.

    I can't tell you how many 25 cent cards I've purchased over the years. Bulk rares were a staple buy when I was building my early collection. Regular decks aren't all $5+ cards. From what I've seen, over half of all deck staples are less than a dollar.

    As someone who has worked in various card stores over the last 25 years, I really liked how informative this was. One thing I'd add in is defraying cost of bulk by making grab bags. No matter what store I've been at, grab bags have been a great source of revenue. New players loved them to help build their collection cheap. Old players treated them like $1 lottery tickets, and if they didn't "win" anything (a good rare or a random prize), they'd usually just hand all the cards back to us and we'd just put that pack back into the mix and sell it again.

    as I have begun to fill in my collection for a card game, I always try to make sure to buy at least 1 more costly card, or keep my purchase above a certain price cause I know a business prolly doesn't enjoy shipping 20+ cards worth 5-15 cents a piece.

    I'm curious if you've considered utilizing distributed inventory with a Warehouse Management System? Basically you could take the csv your ROCA sorter emails you and establish Bins and Zones for each tray. You wouldn't need to file all your Oath of the Gatewatch together so you'd save your employees' manual sorting hours. But you might need to scale your operation more for this to be worth it to you.

I was just curious about the shelves you use to place your 5000 count boxes on in the back. I've got a lot of bulk myself and would really love to store them in a similar way. $10 per thousand is actually fair; my lgs used to give $7 and now it $3 per thousand and you cant have lands in there at all. Thats some impressive backstock too. Id think of it like paying yourself to then make more money later. If you dont know your bulk then your missing out on multiple dollar uncommons and even edh or pauper staples.

    Very informational! I was curious about what you do with Pokémon bulk? For example, I know my LGS buys Pokémon bulk at a pretty high rate and my understanding is that they turn around and resell that bulk to other companies. I’m not sure if you do that at your store, but if you did, could you provide more insight on that process?

    • @TCGBulkKings
      @TCGBulkKings 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The rate for Pokemon bulk is generally much higher than Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh, largely because there are big online stores buying at high rates. Within the last year some stores were paying above $.05 per card in Pokemon bulk, more than 10x the standard Magic bulk price.

I always wanted to see the rocca card sorter in action. Its kind of a dream to get one eventually but its so expensive for a small business with no employees. Im curious do you guys actively sort and sell your yugioh bulk as well or where those 3 rows of 5ks just kind of stacked up for a later date. I would love to buy all 3 of those rows of 5ks of yugioh bulk if you ever want to clean house lol i would definitely make sure its worth your time. Anyways again just really impressive information and setup you have here. I hope i can grow to this scale at some point. I have a few card shops that consistently fill up large flat rate boxes of Yugioh ship them to me and I find the value and offer for them something not many are willing to offer. Looking for some help on a few things. How do you price your bulk? According to market price or tcg low or something else? Without reaching the $600 per week requirement any insight on how to get accepted into tcg direct?

    Hey Mason. Do you sell Yugioh singles anymore? I remember your inventory used to be vast, but now it is only a handful.

    How do you ensure your CF and TCG Player Inventory lines up? Is that just manual? You probably don't run into it often with how much you have, but I only have about 60K cards in my bulk storage at the moment and have run into where I sell my only 4 cards on one platform and miss taking them off the other. Do you just have so much this doesn't matter, do you just have reserves not listed, or is there integration to automate inventory counts....thanks again for the video and revisiting this topic, about 9 months ago I saw the first one and started a tcgplayer store dealing in bulk and now clear $1500-2500 per month and get to reinvest that into my personal collection, so thanks for the inspiration!

      I wish there was a easy solution to cross post your entire inventory - unfortunately there is not at the moment. We use BinderPOS/shopify for our POS and online platform, and that links up with Channel Fireball. Everything else is manually put on ebay/tcgplayer, whichever we think would be best for it. It's not an amazing system, but it's the best that is out there right now.

    So what of all the really bulk standard set commons? Do people buy those at all? I love cracking packs but I have a 5k box of just plain bulk commons, I don't want to throw it out but I worry about storing the next 5k box of bulk commons.

    My LFGS had a bunch of kids who hung out there. She paid them to sort the bulk. She paid them in bulk cards.
