    Every time I come in you guys just do such a great job pulling together and constantly looking to improve. So many stores get stagnant with their layout and don't adapt to what is useful or not, but having come there for several years now and seeing all the stages of change it's pretty awesome.

    Great video Mason, I really like the innovation on the TCGPlayer Direct layout. I've started to notice my current setup has become tedious for the way they layout the pull sheet.

    THATS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Smart! Since u shared ur recourse i will share something too. The KALLAX ikea shelves are perfect to fit 1 of your cardboard boxes per square in case u need to pull something out of them for selling. BUT even better If you have tons of boxes filled with unorganised crap and everything. You can put up to 3 full boxes in a square. The KALLAX has 8 squares so the theoretical max storage per shelf is 24 Boxes for 100 Dollars per shelf!

  • @JeremyCulbreath
    @JeremyCulbreath ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My biggest concern with the IKEA cabinets is their use of MDF. That's 400-500lbs you're putting on each cabinet, plus its own weight. The cabinets I designed for my setup are made of mostly 23/32 plywood, hold about 100k cards in 3ft (10 shelves of 2x 5-rows), and cost about $300 to build each. Granted, they're pretty utilitarian and not as pretty as fixtures. But you could veneer and edge-band, or simply paint them. Or lean into the custom cabinetry look and use higher grade materials.
    Also, I HIGHLY recommend anchoring anything with drawers or slide-outs to avoid tipping. Your insurance carrier and OSHA might appreciate it, too.

    • @CNA-Games
      @CNA-Games  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I haven't had any concern or seen any stress issues on the shelves. It's only 40 pounds on each drawer, which they are definitely ok to hold. And they are bracketed together and then drilled through the slat wall into the concrete walls,. so they aren't moving.

    I purchased two of those "toolbox like" cabinets through the tcgplayer group purchase program, really bummed to hear the manufacturer closed down! Was looking forward to picking up another pair because they are such high quality. I will say with your setup I'm jealous how you have the tall dividers and how it looks, in my cabinets the standard dividers are just tall enough for the drawer. Really great ingenuity!

    @CowboysFanTradingCards ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks like you made the main cabinet sell out. 😊 I ended up buying a different size Sektion that has same width and depth but is 90” tall for $15 more. Thanks for the video!

    nice and thanks for sharing. as a smaller tcgplayer store i have struggled with storage and shelving. deciding to drop some cash for future expansion or continue with minimalistic styling to not over extend. this seems like a nice medium. the magnetic strip idea is seemingly really convenient as well.

    Did you try 4 row + 4 row bcw boxes instead of the 5 row + 3 row? I'm guessing those didn't fit since that makes more sense. Would also be nice to leave the box tops on for a home user that doesn't need daily access to them. Dimensions look like they would fit but who knows. My 4 row box is 13" wide without the top.

    $1k each for Ikea? The legit TCG shelves are 1300...Also wouldn't it be better to just use 8x single 1k boxes so they're all the same height?

    • @CNA-Games

    My concern would be long-term warpage of the particle board. I had such bad luck with Ikea over the years -- I gave up on them 20+ years ago because particle board just can't deal with the weight. Let's see how well they held up in 5 years. Great implementation though -- I like the system.

    Those seem like a big waste. They are still in the cardboard boxes. All you are gaining is magnetic fronts which you could just put on the fronts with sticky magnets. Having a heavy duty shelf with the box's sitting and just pulling out the specific box you need does just the same. Also those drawers will wear over time due to weight and will eventually not slow close with excessive uses. Definitely cheaper to buy heavy duty 80$ shelving units that are built to hold the weight.

    • @CNA-Games
      @CNA-Games  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When you are pulling hundreds of cards every few days, the ease of the drawers and the amount of back strain and lifting saved is very rewarding and easier on employees. I am all for spending some money if that means work gets done easier and the staff is happier.
