- Unboxing Roro CB26 BFS Spool for Shimano Curado, SLX and Scorpion BFS Reels - Super Light. This Spool is made of Aviation Aluminum and the Center Shaft is made of Titanium Alloy. The spool is also a short shaft spool and comes with a peek bar pinion to be inserted into the reel from the tension knob. The Weight with the Bearing is 4.97 Grams and 4.15g without the bearing. Comes with a 733 micro bearing and a custom sleeve. If will need to buy a 733 micro bearing for the side plate if you don't have one already installed there.

Nice, recently bought the scorpion bfs 6.3 (upgraded from zephyr) so might get one of these some day, although the stock spool is great imo
Nice. Just get slx bfs if ur not gonna care for color or warranty. It's cheaper than curado bfs if you import it due to currency exchange while Yen is down :)

Jimbo let me ask you, if you had to choose between the SLX, Curado, or Scorpion BFS which one would you go for? And the type of fishing I do is mainly Crappie and other panfish. Or would you go for something like the Alphas Ait TW or a Kestrel?
The Shimano lineup is a bit too heavy for the spool for some of my lighter lures I throw in colder situations. Although it can do 1/32nd oz jigs with a small plastic, the Shimano reels mentioned does better with a bit heavier unless u get an aftermarket spool.
I would go with the alphas air/gekkabijin.
Kestrel is a bit over braked, so u would likely need to modify the reel and remove some brakes to fully enjoy the reel.
I'm eyeing the Ark Gravity bfs reel coming out end of this month.

And secretly I have been watching for videos on it. And after reading about it I am leaning in the direction of getting one. And pairing it with an Old18 rod.

Thx, unfortunately I don't know if there will be interchangeable parts that you can use... I would assume if there is a reel maintenance business near you that would replace parts that just might know! Perhaps an authorized Shimano dealer.

@@rawrfishing , tested it with the trout magnet and it performed well. I had the Avail spool for the CQBFS and didnt like it. I originally bought the Roro CD26 for my scorpion and saw that it was so close in size to the CQ i had to try it. Worked well enough i picked up another cb26 for it.

I currenly hv a SLX bfs and I constantly cast 8-10g weights. Would this lighter spool make a significant difference to my current cast distance?
Great question. Likely not. Light spool allow the spool to spin easier, especially lighter lures. The shallower spool also dispense more line per rotation. But let's take a step back... What if you throw Heavier lures? Wouldn't your spool spin way too fast? Would the magnets handle it Via the braking? Also how about line capacity? Also with heavier lures, are you using a heavier rod? Will you bend the spool? Those are all the things that popped up in my mind after reading your comment. But I don't have an answer for ya as I haven't tried it for heavy lures. Just light. I personally would not get this spool if you throw weights that Heavy. Hope that helps!

I'm almost positive a standard SLX would be able to throw 8-10g lures, especially the SLX MGL. I don't think anything above 4 grams is "BFS."
Thinking of upgrading my spool for my curado bfs. Shall I pull the trigger on avail or the roro?

@@rawrfishing caught a 12 Lb striper with my curado bfs with 6 lb fluro. Fought it for nearly 12 minutes it almost spooled me 3 times. Idk if I could’ve landed it with the avail spool being more shallow 😅but I wanna cast lighter lures xD
There is a deeper avail spool for the reel. Still can do light lures.

Don't think so. No aftermarket folks would be able to create one without knowing how to reprogram and design the digital braking unit to help manage the brakes

Did you (or see a reason to) replace the other bearing to a roro bfs style?
It really depends how light u planning to throw. For my trout and panfish setups, they all have em. But for throwing lures around 3 grams and up, I use stock. especially if it's shimano, they already have small bearings to begin with.

@@rawrfishing yes. You added the roro bfs spool to the curado which comes with a shaft bearing. I was wondering if you also upgraded the bearing in the side plate as well
ohhh... that's a must if you do any upgrades. They should match, or else they won't work properly. one will restrict the other!
How do you change the bearings on the side plate
Your handle on your reel is it a 100mm or a 110 mm
On of the things I don't like about Gomexus is that they don't tell you on the box. Even tho there are printed 3 check boxes for them to indicate it... It's never marked off lol. With that said.. I am not really sure 😂

It's a shame we spend so much money on these JDM reels and still have to do major mods such as spools and bearings. Hey, at least we're having fun right?!
Let's be fair. The reel wasn't designed to do what WE want it to do. But if we fished it how it was made, I doubt any mods would be needed. We enthusiasts fine tune our products to better fit our fishing styles and needs. With that said, its a shame we don't have more out of the box to fit the niche better. All the ones that goes low are way more expensive for some odd reason...
But yes I'm having a ton of fun tinkering. I am a tinkerer at heart ;)
I'd rather sell the curado bfs and buy the new aldebaran instead of upgrading to this roro spool.. or buy a dark wolf ultra and upgrade brake magnets instead, if you want to keep the curado.. much cheaper and you have 2 reels instead of just 1.
I think if that's what u want. Definitely do it. I like the curado bfs over the new alde, but that is because it fits my fishing style better. I also own the DWU. Haven't spent enough time with it... But I don't think it can compare to Shimano when it comes to how smooth the reel performs. But it's always good to stick to one's financial lane.

@@ultralisk_3318 it's kastking's most expensive reel! It's interesting to see how new they are in bfs and charging such an insane price for the reel. But I guess they are super confident that the reel can actually stack up to Japanese reels. We shall see. I may get it when it drops or wait a bit for price drop or sale. Unless they send me one of course :p
