I had a 2005 Ford Mustang convertible. It was Red Fire, had the premium package and the Shaker 1000 stereo system. I traded it in for a brand new 2012 Mustang that had nothing extra. 2 weeks later I was kicking myself. I went from an automatic to a stick shift and that 2012 tops out 118 mph which was the thing that really irritated me because the drive shaft shatters at 135mph and it wobbled when you downshifted from 3rd to 2nd. I used to work on those regularly in the shop. One thing to pay attention to is the SU carbs. They are similar in function to a CV bike carb but are oil damped on the piston. Make sure that dist cap is CLEAN on top to eliminate crossfire, don't forget shock oil, and lastly - did you learn about the 3 brake systems? Like you, I bought a 1972 Rolls at a Garage Sale with 1.5K miles (yes One Thousand, Five hundred Miles), in LA that was once owned by a famous Peanut farm brand owner. I paid $3.6 K cash and it was my car...! I took it to a Rolls Dealership in Beverly Hills and had it 100% completely factory speced serviced. I had a great bicycle component company called onZa and when I went to the LA airport to pick my Asian customers, THEY WERE BLOWN AWAY, being picked up on a perfectly like new vintage RollsRoyce. Next thing you know word got around in Japan, Taiwan, and Chinese manufacturer president requesting to be picked up on my Rolls, and it made me millions..! I eventually sold it to a Doctor in Redmond Calif, and got $15K, cause it was in Mint Condition. It was probably the highest-priced 1972 used Rolls in the world.
Honestly excited for you and the next year in your TH-cam career! You mingling with the other car TH-camrs somehow feels like another level. Thanks for the great content!
19:35…Many years ago, I once saw and heard a 1926 Rolls Royce engine run whisper quiet,…with the hood open, and with the motor rpm running well under 1000 RPM. It was designed to run that way. It was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen!
When I was a kid, my dad was a chauffeur for a wealthy couple and they had a white one of these. He used to bring it home at lunch time and drop my brother and I back to primary school. memories 👍
Awesome Alex! I must say I was really worried at the start of the video but I think you bought a car that was well loved at some stage in it's life. Nice to see the other guys chiming in, great vid!
Wizard - “The Spirit of Ecstasy was based on the mistress of one of those guys - The one was Rolls I cant remember the other guy” errrr ROYCE perhaps? 😂
And the spirit of ecstasy was actually commissioned my baron John Montagu of Beaulieu and was of his Secretary/mistress Eleanor Thornton! Rolls Royce loved it so much that they adopted it as the standard hood ornament!
She was the mistress of Baron Montagu of Beaulieu who had the sculpture created and put it on his own Rolls Royce, it was later adopted by the factory for all RR cars.
Interesting thing about manual Rolls/Bentleys. The Bentley Mk6 uses a Caterpillar steering clutch (can't remember which but it would be an early 1950s model) as its clutch.
A small TH-cam world in the southeast. Much like Destin (Smarter Every Day) with the science content, it seems like you are part of a great car crowd. I’m relatively new to Atlanta but love that there are so many smart and ambitious people down down South!
I thought I'd heard a brake job on a Rolls Royce like yours required taking out major parts in the rear and and getting a bill for about $5,000 or more. You did it in less than 10 minutes and at no cost. That's what makes it a great video.
Great video of a lovely car, and all of my favourite youtubers in at the end. In my youth, as an engineer working for Vickers, I often visited the Rolls Royce Motor Cars factory in Crewe from the mid Eighties through to the end of the Nineties. The staff there referred to the cars as 'Rolls Royces' or 'Bentleys', but, they all worked at 'Royces' - The Royce name was the engineering heart of the place. As a lad on my own staying away, a kindly staff member would often take me to 'Royces Club' to fill in my evenings
Absolutely amazing video. The allure of an old British classic can go either way but this one looks to be in nice condition. Very much looking forward to seeing future videos on this. I run and drive a classic Mini as my daily 😀
I fell in love with Rolls-Royces in 1961...I was 9...thanks for featuring my dream car...and yes...I'm a bit Jelly but I'm happy for you! Enjoy my dream!
16:20 the ohms scale is the green one and reads 0.8 or 0.9 with the x10 factor range scale selected means ~8 or ~9 Ohms, not 9 thousand!. An ideal wire has 0 ohms , it means no resistence , so when lower the value, good condition. Make sure to proper clean up the clamp pins fore these wires with a brush and cleaner contact spray for electric parts that you can buy in a electronic component store. The contact of different metal materials like copper with these pins can generate a kind of rust.

I eventually sold it to a Doctor in Redmond Calif, and got $15K, cause it was in Mint Condition. It was probably the highest-priced 1972 used Rolls in the world.
I never imagined all my favorite TH-camrs would be in one video
I said this on Sam's video as well.. this is literally a collection of almost all of my favorite TH-camrs
Honestly excited for you and the next year in your TH-cam career! You mingling with the other car TH-camrs somehow feels like another level. Thanks for the great content!
26min 17sec --> Absolutely love the picturesque shot. Beautiful!
19:35…Many years ago, I once saw and heard a 1926 Rolls Royce engine run whisper quiet,…with the hood open, and with the motor rpm running well under 1000 RPM. It was designed to run that way. It was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen!
A good friend of mine here in FL drops these rolls bodies on older caprice frames and puts 350's in them...Best of both worlds
Now that something I would glad to own
So he specialises in turning silk purses into pigs ears then?
@@andrewallen9993 A 1960'S silk purse that requires tons of maintenance to a silk purse that is functional and reliable .
Sacrilege!😮
Love having the whole crew help you share in this new experience!!!
I really enjoyed watching this episode. Thankfully, it arrived safely. There were few models of this in South Africa also. Much love from SA ❤🇿🇦
I'm in love with that Rolls Royce! It is beautiful, it looks great in black.
Alex, have fun with the guys.
I absolutely love this car - such a thing of beauty!
Rolls Royce in the Wal-Mart parking lot! Now I seen everything !
"Rolls don't leak oil, they're merely marking their territory".
They don't call it a "land yacht" for nothing.
So good
What a superb car and video…..how many modern cars would even move after so many years….and it still looks beautiful too..cheers
Wizard - “The Spirit of Ecstasy was based on the mistress of one of those guys - The one was Rolls I cant remember the other guy” errrr ROYCE perhaps? 😂
Henry Royce was his name
That had me rolling has well 😂
C.S Rolls, Henry Royce
And the spirit of ecstasy was actually commissioned my baron John Montagu of Beaulieu and was of his Secretary/mistress Eleanor Thornton! Rolls Royce loved it so much that they adopted it as the standard hood ornament!
@@derekclark4344 Lord not Baron... That car a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost was restored by a friend over 33 years. It now lives in Canberra Australia.
This is by far the best rolls in the recent youtuber era. Also, that hair is looking nice so I assume the Keeps is doing it's job.

Love the content. Adventure, honest discovery and problem solving.
Eleanor Thornton was the model. She drowned in 1915 at 35 years of age when her liner, the SS Persia, was sunk by a German U-boat.
She was the mistress of Baron Montagu of Beaulieu who had the sculpture created and put it on his own Rolls Royce, it was later adopted by the factory for all RR cars.
Question, and pardon my ignorance, wasn't the mascot's name Emily?

Loved that you bought this car. I just bought a 1961 Bentley S2. Lots of fun to work on and learn the history! Enjoy!
Looks like a really fun project. It was cool seeing so many of my favorite entertainers in one video.
The cool thing about those old Rolls, nearly everything is designed to be rebuilt.
They knew it will break, bcs it's British
@@ivanjovanovic362 still more reliable than an old Italian sports car
@@ivanjovanovic362 all cars do eventually.
Interesting thing about manual Rolls/Bentleys. The Bentley Mk6 uses a Caterpillar steering clutch (can't remember which but it would be an early 1950s model) as its clutch.
What a classy, beautiful car! Can’t wait to see more videos on it 🙌🏼
A small TH-cam world in the southeast. Much like Destin (Smarter Every Day) with the science content, it seems like you are part of a great car crowd. I’m relatively new to Atlanta but love that there are so many smart and ambitious people down down South!
I love how u diagnose the car trouble, step by step from the simple one. then enjoy the road way back home..
end of the video was awesome
The sump plug and other bolts would likely be in British standard whitworth
Imperial quarts and Witworth hardware. I'm still grateful that My MGB did not use Whitworth!
At least with Whitworth you don't need that many tools. Not a lot of sizes used in cars.
Best LSC video ever. The ending was legendary!
Nice fly-by and drone shots!
This rolls is much more reliable than the new Mercedes lol
They have too many finnicky electronics. Source: owner 😥
@@ryanwood6006 Main reason I'm trying to buy a w211 E55 AMG. But also because they're really cool and Alex has a bunch of videos on them.
No they’re not lmao
@@geoffbob6267 the CLKs are really good cars too. That clk black series is mean if you can get your hands on one
@@ryanwood6006 Yeah, thats the ultimate dream, but my budget is around 12-15K, preferably on the lower end, so I can spend some money on upgrades.
Lmao seeing Ed jumping up and down on the rear sill!!!
Absolutely amazing video. The allure of an old British classic can go either way but this one looks to be in nice condition. Very much looking forward to seeing future videos on this. I run and drive a classic Mini as my daily 😀
You know LSC is the best automotive channel when some of the automotive TH-cam greats make an appearance all at once in it
I fell in love with Rolls-Royces in 1961...I was 9...thanks for featuring my dream car...and yes...I'm a bit Jelly but I'm happy for you! Enjoy my dream!
Rolling in the Rolls - Loving it, they dont make cars like them these days
I'm in love with this car. Would really enjoy strolling around Vegas in this. A little short on out of pocket just now though.
The video was not to long, I enjoyed every moment of watching it actually you Could have made it it a little longer as far as I’m concerned!!! 🔥🔥💯💯
Not too* long
Try some early Dusty Springfield or The Springfields music. Great job saving this beauty and piece of artwork. You have guts, man ! Enjoyed watching.
Your car is just so cool! British yeah! Good luck on your trip. Looks so comfortable inside!
"Gapping hole - cant mess this up" - that plastic ring seal on the oil bottle would be fun to pull back out of there.
You have to fix this. Its a great project and its a Rolls Royce, its a no brainer.👌
Remember to fill the carburettors up with the correct viscosity oil!
Own a 1963 Silver Cloud III - had fun like you did. Received First Place in National R-R Show in 1998.
Back then, when this car was purchased, you could buy a house for $14k.
Here in L.A your lucky if you find a house under 1 Mil and that is with about 2 to 3 bedrooms in the hood!
The whole gang, ganged up on your poor Rolls. Take care of her, she is a classy lady.
exactly. i was uneasy for a second watching them monkeying around such a beautiful piece of art.
Totally disrespectful bunch...... who needs enemy's with friends like that.
That is an amazing car! Can’t wait to see the cool little things with it.
How fun was that!! Love the SC IIs and IIIs. You enjoying it so much just made the video that much better.
