Nice
Good
Awesome
It's not brand new. It is several years old. Free to play is only partly true as there are in game purchases. Hypothetically one could play without paying, but it can be challenging. I played this at the beginning of the pandemic when I had plenty of time during my furlough, but then I was called back to work months later.
Cool
As a DBZ fan, I'm honestly hoping this becomes the Gohan story we all wanted but just in the form of superman.
Gohan after marriage no but during cell saga... Hell ya
I really resonate with this comment
@@lukeanil1336 agreed. I would say gohan during beginning of buu saga or better yet gohan during second broly movie where he was mostly on his own.
As a DBZ fan, I full heartedly hope you're right
I LOVE GOHAN!!! MY FAVORITE
I’m loving this story. I like how as robin and Superman( Jon) grew up and still maintain their friendship.
Right? I never would’ve thought they’d be able to pull off having a compelling cheater in the son of Superman. But having him deal with the fact that he is human and kryptonian and that he should have more say on his planet is very interesting
They are "Brothers-In-Arms"
Ey, isn't damian way younger than him here though? After the whole spend years in space with grandpa isn't john an adult while damien is still like a child? Kinda makes the dynamic weirder doesn't it?
My main problem with this series is it feels forced like we jumped ahead a ton but now we have a decent Writer, whose trying to make adult John feel natural. I still see John as the kid from super sons because this is just a better written version of that "Bendis" Boy. I don't see this lasting due to the nature of comics but atleast it's well done. Also haven't Connor, Kara and New 52 all done the young adult superman thing?
Jon Kent never have a chance to grow up

I like how they explore Jon being his own superman just wish we explored Jon growing up to get to this point instead of aging him up but that’s just me

Yeah I wonder if these sorts of channels help bring attention to comics or hurt their sales
I'm not against current issues being depicted in comic books, so long as the heroes aren't presented as having all the answers or the only solution. The writers are going to have to be very careful as to how someone as powerful as Clark or Jon solves a problem, as it could lead to the world of the Justice Lords rather than the Justice League.
Yeah I agree. If they explore a part where Jon is told to go do something to deal with a crisis or an issue and when it's fixed it results in an equally bad problem that would make a lot of sense. I'd be very impressed if they author tackled it that way, like he doesn't have all the answers to the world so he couldn't write a book on it but he could definitely explore how some issues impact others.
Yes.
That balance is going to be interesting to watch. I hope the difference and struggle between helping people/the world in a meaningful way and simply ruling them as benevolent ruler comes up as a story thread during this.
Luckily this looks like it's Jon wrestling with the fact that he _doesn't_ have all the answers and the fallout of doing what he personally feels is the right thing to do.
The fact that Superman was created as an answer to the rise of anti-semitism and fascism of their time shows the true intentions of the creators of Superman to address current issues.
Jon Kent: I am the true son of Kal-El

I like clarks points bout earth being Jon's world. It continues the "I hate being different " aspect of Clark that has been told in different incarnations. Cause no matter what Clark will always be an outsider to a degree. Where as Jon is a son of earth but with kryptonian abilities.

Actually, this is the first time I’ve cared for Jon Kent as the new Superman. I think this gives us a fresh take on the guy that I feel writers usually give too much of a “child-like” quality or entirely too much strength/plot armor. I thoroughly enjoyed this
I don't like that they aged him up, but I do love seeing the hero that he is now

They have but none have been like Jon Kent, even Connor, though I agree it’s strange considering Connor is a character
@Will N I still like Connor over Jon and don't like the way Connor's getting crapped on with losing his powers.
This seems very promising, this might be an even greater Superman story simply because our protagonist finally has a complete mentor. Clark may have had Papa Kent but he had to learn his limitations and boundaries by himself. With Jon he has his father, cousin, uncle and damn near the entire Justice League and beyond to figure it out.
I love how comic books can literally be anything and everything and their characters have to take on that situation at their own pace

What do you mean?
14:06 honestly, I like seeing real world issues being brought up in comics. It shows awareness and it shows us that those things would still happen with superhero’s around. Seeing real world problems be solved by a superhero makes me want to be a superhero even more. And I’ve wanted to be one ever since I was a little kid. It just makes me want to help and do my part. Like what Jon said at the beginning of the comic to Damian
Regarding the scene where Jon kent saves the metahuman, it reminded me of Justice League: Gods and Monsters- it just had a very different outcome.
That was a great movie
I still miss Jon kent as his little 10 year old self and nothing would've made me happier but to see my boy grow up with both his parents clark kent and Lois lane and going to school and learning how to be a great hero naturally because that would've been awesome and way better then accelerating his aging to this point but that's just my opinion.

Jonathan Lane Kent is alien due to his father's DNA. So he isn't full-blooded human. I wonder if Gohan is stronger than him
This seemed to be well written. I love the idea of this story. The whole fact of Superman admitting why he held back and why it should be easier for Jon to step up a little more makes sense. Superman could be seen as an invader forcing his well, but Jon is from earth and part human and everyone is aware of that apparently. This gives him some realistic responsibilities that we could relate to and wonder “how would Superman handle this”. It’s bigger than just punching the bad guy and that’s why this story intrigues me

I know right, that superboy and Robin was Gold!
Honestly, I'm not even worried about Robin right now. He's actually doing really good for himself. Especially after the nightmare that was his Teen Titans run (both of them). Jon is who I'm mourning. Or maybe a retcon that it's not John at all but new 52 superboy.
Jon Kent uniform looking really good. The added bit of red on the shoulders really balances it out while still making it look different than what Clark wears
I agree that this series is going to be divisive.
First, count me as someone who wants his entertainment to be escapist.
Second, I really hope the author isn't going to say "We know right from wrong and Jon is going to enforce what's right".
If that happens, Jon is going to be like a super powered version of Woodrow Wilson. He'll be loved by those who agree with him and absolutely despised by those who don't.
To paraphrase Dolly Parton, it's not smart to piss off half your audience.
Finally, I'm an old guy who's been following Superman since I was a toddler. I really just want the hero I grew up with. I don't mind if Jon is Superboy and has adventures with the Legion. But, I really want Clark to be Superman, work for the Daily Planet etc.

We’re out of time to escape from “the crap that is reality”; Damian is speaking to us as much to Jon. It’s time for all of us to step up to help each other. The example here isn’t subtle nor should it be; we abdicate this responsibility at our own peril.
The time for heroes is now; we can each be one by embodying the just actions of characters like Jon.

I can’t believe I’m so into a Superman story this is great!
9:48 there’s actually a really good explanation for that, about why doesn’t Superman just make the world perfect. So there’s this one comic where Batman trades powers with Superman, so Bruce, with his newly found powers, plans to make the world perfect/the best it can be. So Batman does everything that he can and makes the world great, but at the end, he goes insane, with the lack of and alter ego where he can do normal things and not be a superhero all day and night, Batman goes insane… that’s how I remember it, if you want to know more I think “The Real Comic Book Gamer” brought it up in his review of this series
Absolutely, also, superman can’t force every single person to do the right thing.
Because Superman doesn't want to impose his will on others, despite having the power to do so. That's what tyrants do.

I thought since he's ab alien despite how much he loves earth he tries to stay out of a lot of things that aren't world threatening
I think the current arc in Action Comics, where Clark finds kryptonians in Warworld and supposedly will go to space with them, will tie into his disassociation from humanity he feels in works like this one, that take place after it.
Beautiful drawings and ideas!
So apparently Jon isn't missing out on any of the powers of Supes 🙂 and he for whatever reason might be more powerful in the future. Also them on the moon having the father son talk was soooo epic 😀. Tired of the forced politics in comics and DC Comics media. I wouldn't mind it so much if they made the heroes unbiased and I guess it really depends on the writers political affiliation but it's literally inescapable today since EVERYTHING is so politically charged. Like where do we catch a break from it if not from comics, movies, and TV? I hear from others "if you don't like it then don't read/watch it". That's not the point I'm making. DC Comics used to be my most favorite brand of comics to read and growing up as a kid reading them they didn't focus on all of this political bs. They focused on the heroes, the villains and individual relationships and growth while making a cohesive story. Today it's more about flair, politics, and gender/sexual orientation reveals. The villain is usually someone with political influence that oppose the political viewpoint of the heroes/writers. If DC Comics stopped politicizing their media and comics and their heroes remained unbiased in their comics then they'd have a much larger audience. Unfortunately they don't, so their only audience is those the politics targets. Not a good business strategy in my opinion especially when you're trying to profit from the material you come out with.

Bendix was a Superman villain while he was running Stormwatch.
If, at any point, they channel 'The Wild Storm' maxi into this, it OWNS me for LIFE.
Turning Superman into a punk.. damn.. really
Just finished watching Superman and Lois show and was thinking about the comic book about Superman’s kids glad he covered one!

It annoying and stupide
I'm really enjoying the story so far, seeing Jon trying to be Superman like his dad. I don't mind the real world issues as long as it is not in your face or nonsense.
DC: Let’s make Superman’s son and the new Superman Bisexual it will sell like hot cakes to the LGBTQ community!
Me a Bisexual: *Reads the comics* What the shit am I reading!?
He left his jeep on the moon.
Wow! This comic felt heavy on politics ... it kinda has an injustice vibe..
8:06 wait, wait , wait! Its just one human guy with a gun, ok a big gun. But he is superman: super fast, super strong, super smart; did I say smart. Every other hero has handled this type of situation before. from non power hero to low power hero. But Jon is a high HIGH powered hero in a low power situation. Hawk and Dove could have handled this situation better. Heck just Dove alone could have handle it better then Jon, by his/her self.
This is why DC is dead in the water, hence Dead Comics.
Love your channel.
Making the climate crisis a thing in the DC universe is pretty stupid. Certain things just aren't plausible in a world were they reignited the sun... though I do like Jon having to face the same moral question his dad does about "fixing" things.
Weather wizard should say I'm responsible for all the strange weather. Also no this problem supermen can't punch makes sense to be an issue
