Yes! Hobgoblin, Doc Ock, Venom, Sandman, and The-Lizard-in-a-Labcoat were always my favorite villains from the cartoon. I'm glad we've gotten cool versions of Ock, Sandman, and the Lizard, but I'm still waiting for the Hobgoblin and a good Venom. I'm STILL pissed about Amazing Spider-Man 2 lying about the Rhino, too; that version of hinm was such a cool idea, and they featured him in every commercial and poster just to give us nothing.
While Green Goblin/Norman Osborn had more of a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on with their secret identity, Hobgoblin is like a Russian doll where the guy behind the mask is a guy who's being controlled by a guy who's being controlled by a guy who's being controlled by another guy.
Hobgoblin might be a good new Spider-Man villain in the MCU. He could be a part of the Sinister Six as well as a entirely new character. Lets just hope Sony and Marvel continue to play nice.

I still got the tattoo in my copy. As a teen in the 80s I worked in a comic book shop with a buddy. We got paid in comic books and the first appearance of the Hobgoblin was one of the comics I spent my credit on. The mystery about who was the Hobgoblin was something we all talked about at the time.

Hobgoblin saga was what got me into Spider-Man. The mere fact that you didn’t know who he was and he appeared as a shadowy deadly character fascinated me as a child. He still remains one of my favorite comic book villains.
I wish that the MCU would introduce HobGoblin possibly in the SpiderMan movie after Spider Man No Way Home.Having him play almost a main villain role and shown to be working for Norman Osborn similar to SpiderMan The Animated Series and later working for Wilson Fisk.

His "thought" bubbles even goes so far as to prove he isn't the Hobgoblin because he's trying to figure out how to fix the situation with the blackmail.
Damn, I really need to get those first issues. I'm surprised how restrained and careful Hobgoblin was at the start, I can see why he was so dangerous and took so long to stop him.

Hobgoblin is probably the most underrated Spider-Man villain. He was basically Spider-Man's arch enemy in the early and mid eighties. Very dangerous and cunning villain; should he higher on Spidey's greatest villains list than Sandman or Rhino.

I had an issue when I discovered this guy was able to recreate the goblin formula without the insanity side effect. I assumed the only man capable of doing that was Osbourne himself. Now, when I told this to my comic-historian friend he assured me “oh no Osborne was plenty crazy even without the formula there’s no way he could’ve developed an insanity-free formula”
Those are my thoughts as well. Kingsley is a fashion designer and not a chemist. A formula that volatile would require extensive research to understand and to get it right to work without the psychological effects.
The only time they actually fought was for a few minutes where they basically struggled against each other and got nowhere, though Osborn was surprised at how strong Kingsley was. In the Goblin Wars, Osborn only fought brainwashed dupes, never the real Hobgoblin. Also, even after Spider-Man's extensive history with the Green Goblin, the first time Hobgoblin threw a pumpkin bomb at him, Spider-Man said that the pumpkin bombs were way more powerful than the ones that Osborn used. And later, Hobgoblin enhanced the gas bombs. With Osborn, they only jammed his Spider-Sense. When Kingsley got them, he improved them so that it would actually temporairily take away his Spider Sense, something only Mysterio had done to him with gas before, and it took him almost a day to gain it back. Also, Kingsley is tactically a lot smarter. Yes, Osborn is a genius but his genius also is part insanity, which makes him more evil and less rational. Kingsley is a tactical genius thinking 10 steps ahead of everybody and thinks ahead of probably everybody with the possible exception of Kingpin. Also, out of all his villains, Hobgoblin was the one it took the longest for Spider-man to defeat. The second closest would be Green Goblin, who it took 3 year publication time, 9 months within Marvel universe. It took Spider-Man 14 years in publication time and 3.5 years within Marvel universe to defeat Hobgoblin. Kingsley is also the only one, besides Spider-Man himself who was able to keep knowledge of his identity secret for so long, fooling the entire world, including the criminal empire, the public, and even the Kingpin who literally has eyes everywhere and can get information on anyone. Kingsley always lans ahead, and even managed to defeat a much more experienced and powerful Spider-Man than Osborn ever did, several times. Also, Osborn's strength made him insanely strong, but never as physically powerful as Spider-Man. He usually used his genius and arsenal and took advantage of Spider-Man's moral standards. It also helps that Spider-Man holds back because Norman is Harry's father. We've established that Kingsley is a better tactical fighter than Osborn, and that his arsenal is more powerful. Spider-Man also states several times that Osborn's strength was never as strong as his was, but that the Hobgoblin's might be. Osborn can do more harm to Spider-Man because he knows his identity, but if Osborn and Kingsley were to actually fight each other, I think it would be close, but Kingsley would come out on top.
Spider-Man: The Animated Series introduced me to the Hobgoblin. I liked him ever since along with Doctor Octopus.

Those are my thoughts as well. Kingsley is a fashion designer and not a chemist. A formula that volatile would require extensive research to understand and to get it right to work without the psychological effects.

The only time they actually fought was for a few minutes where they basically struggled against each other and got nowhere, though Osborn was surprised at how strong Kingsley was. In the Goblin Wars, Osborn only fought brainwashed dupes, never the real Hobgoblin. Also, even after Spider-Man's extensive history with the Green Goblin, the first time Hobgoblin threw a pumpkin bomb at him, Spider-Man said that the pumpkin bombs were way more powerful than the ones that Osborn used. And later, Hobgoblin enhanced the gas bombs. With Osborn, they only jammed his Spider-Sense. When Kingsley got them, he improved them so that it would actually temporairily take away his Spider Sense, something only Mysterio had done to him with gas before, and it took him almost a day to gain it back. Also, Kingsley is tactically a lot smarter. Yes, Osborn is a genius but his genius also is part insanity, which makes him more evil and less rational. Kingsley is a tactical genius thinking 10 steps ahead of everybody and thinks ahead of probably everybody with the possible exception of Kingpin. Also, out of all his villains, Hobgoblin was the one it took the longest for Spider-man to defeat. The second closest would be Green Goblin, who it took 3 year publication time, 9 months within Marvel universe. It took Spider-Man 14 years in publication time and 3.5 years within Marvel universe to defeat Hobgoblin. Kingsley is also the only one, besides Spider-Man himself who was able to keep knowledge of his identity secret for so long, fooling the entire world, including the criminal empire, the public, and even the Kingpin who literally has eyes everywhere and can get information on anyone. Kingsley always lans ahead, and even managed to defeat a much more experienced and powerful Spider-Man than Osborn ever did, several times. Also, Osborn's strength made him insanely strong, but never as physically powerful as Spider-Man. He usually used his genius and arsenal and took advantage of Spider-Man's moral standards. It also helps that Spider-Man holds back because Norman is Harry's father. We've established that Kingsley is a better tactical fighter than Osborn, and that his arsenal is more powerful. Spider-Man also states several times that Osborn's strength was never as strong as his was, but that the Hobgoblin's might be. Osborn can do more harm to Spider-Man because he knows his identity, but if Osborn and Kingsley were to actually fight each other, I think it would be close, but Kingsley would come out on top.
