Great review. As you noted, synthetics like polyester and nylon can get funky/stinky when you sweat in them. Does the Astroman retain any stink AFTER it is cleaned? For example, polyester workout shirts smell clean after you wash them but the minute you sweat in them again, the smell can be terrible and after time they still retain some smell even after a washing. Nylon is better than polyester for this reason. Since this is mostly nylon, I was wondering if the Astroman retains body odor or if it comes clean with each washing. Thanks!
Astroman is best-in-class. Rare Nylon hoodie, for those who aren't compatible with polyester. Nylon is the coldest fabric on cold mornings. Quarter-zip for those who want the broadest temperature usage. Limited to 3XL, this author has to sew 4" on the hem for length, and it's still worth the trouble. Light-gray doesn't reflect sun as well as white, yet Astroman is still best. Thumb-loops are more than adequate, making sleeve-length universal (sewn-in thumb-holes require sleeves that are otherwise too long). Remarkably useful pocket.
lol 😂 I have 2 of the baleaf and 4 of the roadbox. Both from Amazon! The baleaf is the older version idk if the new ones are the same material. But they make a good base layer in cold weather. I got the roadbox sun hoodie’s in green and one tan. I just liked the colors and they were cheap. They are lighter fabric than the baleaf… Don’t be afraid to try out cheap Amazon clothing. You might be surprised! I got a really bad ars beater puffy in size 4XL for cheap on Amazon and it fills the void in my backpack perfectly ✌🏻
Nice video. I usually rotate the Astroman and Echo hoodies. I'll usually wear the Echo hoodie in colder temps because it has a tigher fit and I got it in a darker color. I'll use the Astroman during hotter temps since it has a looser fit and I got it in a light grey color. I'll take it when there's more mosquitoes or brush since the nylon seems to be more durable.
Thanks; I appreciate the thoughts! Agreed on the durability of the Astroman; I tend to go to the prAna Sol Defender in cooler temps. The Echo has become a fairly superfluous piece for me.
@@HikeCalifornia Nice. I should pick up a few more sun hoodies. I tend to wear them everywhere these days lol. The first one I picked up was a Simms brand geared toward fishing. I might try REI's during one of their sales.
I haven't tested the Astroman Air, so take this for what it's worth, but I believe it compares quite favorably to the Astroman. It's a lighter material, with the tiniest bit less stretch and a bit less relaxed a fit, but it doesn't sacrifice any UPF protection. The Astroman Air lacks thumb loops, but seeing how minimal they are on the Astroman, I'm not sure it's much of a loss.
2 categories that should be in a review for hoodie- weight, and breath ability

Omg such a thorough review! A sun hoodie is def the next gear up be investing in. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Don’t know if I missed it on video but what’s the sizing like? Thanks

Thanks for watching! I've been pretty disappointed with Baleaf in general. I may do a video on the sun hoodie at some point. Haven't tried Roadbox.

How does it compare to the Astroman Air hoody?
