We really just have one goal - to make your food life better. Ok that, and be entertained at the same time. And have you learn a few things along the way. So let’s make it 3 goals then.
If you only want the steps to make something, like those vids shot from above with no people, no conversation no nuthin - then we are absolutely not for you. But if you wanna a little fun while you learn, then this is the place.
Cooking doesn’t have to be hard, it just has to be delicious.

THANK YOU ❗️ - บันเทิง
To prevent losing the fillings when deep frying, grab all 6 taquitos in one hand and dip the ends into the frying oil first, for about 20 seconds. Both sides. Then fry as usual. No filling loss and crispy ends. 👍
That sounds safe 😳
@@joeb4142 mother tested, abuela approved 👌
I would just eat the little chips that it makes, I would bet they are even better than potato chips. As long as they aren't burnt I'm sure they would be just fine to eat and be tasty for that matter. Besides if it wasn't for the cheese they probably wouldn't have lost any filling.
Killer!!!
OMG TYSVFM!!!! That's the fundamental Flauta tip I've been needing!👏
Grew up with these. Also, the fold in half and fry tacos dorados de papa.... Even better. Once they're all fried up, pop that thing open and fill it with your favorite toppings. In our family we usually do cabbage, crema, and tomatillo/Chile de arbol salsa. 🤌🤌🤌🥹
And the cotija chesse, with a little of avocado can never fault❤
Fried cabbage and onions! So good.
I’m getting hungry.
i like them with longanisa.

Tacos de papa. A staple in any mexican household! Using real potatoes, though. Usually folded in half, not rolled, but tomato tomahto. Try adding chorizo next time. Papa con chorizo is where its at! Top with lettuce, crema, queso fresco and salsita. 🤤 Sometimes i just dip them in guac too without everything else. 🔥
That sounds epic! Trying that for sure! Cheers!
man, these guests are getting choosy 😘
I was thinking chorizo too!!! 😋
*chorizo con papa
Friend from Canada here - I've done something similar with spring roll wrappers! We call them crispy mash. Make up the potatoes, spoon them in, fry them as well, then top them with a little bit of sour cream, cheese, bacon bits and green onion - soo good!
Asian in England, here. Your blasphemous, barbaric use of spring roll pastry impress me, bigly. Now ima use parmesan in there with ham hock, serve on a bed of rockett salad. Thanks and oss.
I've always done this with leftover potatoes of any kind, and leftover chicken. Just combine the chicken and potato, roll/fold and fry.
Serve with refried beans and it doesn't disappoint.
You have leftover mashed potatoes? 😂😂😂 we rarely did growing up. One thing we’d all eat without complaint was mashed taters. ❤❤❤ I might make some chicken taquitoes for tonight!
Adding some left over chicken just made this a must for me. And wild horses can't keep me away from refried beans. You need your own cooking channel.
I like using milk instead of water for the potatoes. So good. Love you guys.
Made the all American meal last night of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Made extra mashed potatoes just for the purpose of making these for a fun Sunday brunch today. Thanks Sam! I am sure they will be a big hit. By the way, absolutely love your book - Recipes with Intentional Leftovers. Perfect for today's busy world!
Those spuds are perfect when in a pinch. Very versatile and can be made anywhere.
I made these last night for the family. Everyone loved them which is a rare thing for my family. Keep up the awesome ideas!
If you were to add a whisked egg to the mashed potatoes before filling them the potato would hold together better.
Good idea for leftovers or just a quick, easy meal.. I'm definitely going to make them 👍👍
I do these and they are a huge hit... have sour cream, chives, and other things to put on top and its like a fried loaded mashed potato egg roll
I absolutely love watching your videos…I have ordered and now have 4 of 6 cookbooks, and I am working my way through Each And Every Recipe, in those books! (They are all front and center in my cookbook library!) Thank you! Absolutely Love love love the ease with which ALL These recipes come together! Especially the Munchies
I am putting package mash potatoes on my grocery list! Thank you, Sam
There is Bob Evans (we get our local supermarket brand) mashed potatoes that are really good as a side dish. You nuke em for 6 mins total and they're a great side dish. When they're done we put some salt, pepper, butter, and sour cream in them (and usually some corn too, since it's my family's favorite).
If nothing else, they're just really convenient to have in the pantry for when you need something quick and easy and they last basically forever.
Smoke anather one Sam. Kidding can't wait for the show.
Good day Sam and crew. I might make this recipe with my STCG cast iron. It’s still amazing
Thank you for making the recipe available. Will make this one
Classic mashed potatoes but add garlic powder, onion powder, curry powder green onions and bacon, mix all that. Wrap it up in egg roll shells and deep fry for a few minutes. They're called Celtic Rolls and they are the definition of godly.
Those are like a Mexican Perogie!
Looks good
I love those mashed potatoes! I always keep a couple packs on hand. They're great for thickening soups and gravies.
I appreciate u for making the ingredients simple. I’m a mom of 2 and dinner sometimes needs to be quick and delicious not always from scratch 😅😅
I actually did some in the air fryer this past Thurs. Had left over rotisserie chicken so I made chicken taquitos. Of course, nothing beats frying in grease but airfryer comes in clutch 👍
love the prepackaged mashed potatoes as a quick go to
I make mine with potatoes & seasoned ground beef. Mix...fill...roll & fry. Maybe a little melted cheese on top. Yummy!
Looks delicious and simple to make. I think my grandsons just might like them
They will!
Thanks Sam. Made this tonight. Delicious and easy!
Like how you can make gold out of the simplest things great as always Sam!
That particular brand of instant masked potatoes are the best! Plus they just mix with water.
These look great! This guy is hysterical and would love to watch more of his cooking videos 😂
Yep, grew up having these, try potato enchiladas. Yummmmmy😋
How can something so simple look so delicious. I’m literally making these tonight. Although I’m not confident in my shallow pan frying I might attempt a deep fryer. My oil is due for a changing anyways so if some potatoes seep out I’m not that worried. Thanks for the idea Sam
Shallow works fine
Just get the edge-lip side down underneath, fry that part first to seal the deal. Roll as needed.
It's supposed to be a poor man's meal, don't use up all the corn oil!
i had those for my birthday. I like how good they are. You can adjust the taste to however you like.
Made this tonight using a larger burrito wrap and the air fryer. Sprayed down with cooking spray and they turned out incredible!
@@decimanightelf4135 400 for about 10 minutes, no pre-heat. Did not turn them. Coated the top with garlic bread spread and shredded mozzarella.
I done these for my family tonight!! (there is 8 of us) huge hit in our home 😊
I have had these a few times, only with freshly mashed potatoes. Luv them! Don't forget to sprinkle them with a little salt after frying for a bit more flavor!
Back in the early 60s, my family moved from California to Iowa for 4 years. We missed Mexican food so my mom ordered some enchiladas from where I have know idea. They came and they were potato filled tortillas with a brown gravy sauce. Nothing close to what we expected.
*Shudders* That sounds awful!!!!!
That looks amazing. I am totally going to add cheese when I make these.
you're just not thinking fourth dimensionally, sailorjupiter814!
add jalapeno or banana pepper bits! hot sauce! bacon crumbles! funyuns if those are your jam! maybe a bit of chorizo, or some seasoned veggies, or even mushrooms if you're feeling up for that!
this man gave us a foundation for culinary greatness!
Norwegian heritage here -- tortillas or lefse topped with mashed potatoes, butter, and canned salmon. Yum!
Awesome. I will try these right now. Thanks Sam
Dear Chef Sam,
Thank you for the recipe. it showed the exact temperature of the oil
Honestly just came back from Mexican mart. Got 4 crispy potato tacos from the steam table .. These have jalapeños. No cheese.
I'm actually eating what he's making in real-time...... In Chicago. The potatoes are the small whole red ones smashed flat and fried with jalapeños. They don't roll them here. Fried flat. 4 for 5 bucks. Lol
These look so delicious, I'm going shopping after work tomorrow!
Pro Tip if you have more than a couple of avocados: cut and de-pit as before, take a cross pattern baking cooling rack and put it over top of bowl, place avocado halves face down and press through "spokes," drag peel across enough to clean peel.
My favorite!! My mom used to make these for a fast dinner!
you just gave me the perfect idea with my air fried chicken wings tonight
Update: made them with the apple wood smoked bacon mash turned out amazing and the avocado crema is to die for
We grew up eating flautas de papa. We’re Mexican. It’s a common staple.
Oooooh those loook SO GOOD! I love potato tacos and these look even better!
My mom always makes these along with the chicken ones. We call them flautas
I actually make something similar but I make mine spicy. These look great
I am going to try this definitely.
I make these for my kids all the time. It’s definitely their favorite! With sour cream, cotija, lettuce on top. 🤌🏼
Potato's and avocados go really well together.
I worked at Joe's Drive In in Redondo Beach and I would have crispy home fried potatoes with guacamole on top. Perfect lunch!
Idahoan “just add water” packets of buttery home style are the BOMB
I'm going to try those they look good.
Them Costco potatoes pouches be hitting different when you add pepper, butter and milk to the mix 😊
Chance and max should try em after Sam's outro. That'd keep people watching till the end!
Can you do a video of stuff to cook while camping I’m going august 3-6
Just made this tonight. It came out great
saw the thumb nail and I knew someone would beat me to this turning these into tacos need to be it’s own video!
been doin this mix in a can of red sauce with the duck on it an ur chilllin
“No stems, no seeds that you don’t need…”
Sometimes you make me feel old Sam but you also brought back childhood memories of eating these from food carts when I was growing up in Southern California.
Simple. Delicious. Outstanding.
OMG! Perfect pairing with a Not Not Mashed potato Taco!!!!! ❤
I make half moons with either baby tortilla or flour tortilla 😊 soòoo good
Can also add some diced up green onion and chopped up bacon to that potato mash. Dipping: molcajete spicy sauce, salsa aguacate, garlic/chipotle alioli...it's endless!
I might actually try these. They look fantastic! Think these would do well in an air fryer?
This is a Mexican dish actually. That's were I got the recipe 30 years ago. I bake mine now and dip in fresh salsa.
If he added an egg to the mashed potato and breadcrumbs, the potato would stick together. I make what I call potato pancakes, with leftover mashed potatoes. I add garlic powder, onion powder, you can use fresh too, if you have time to chop. Flat leaf Italian parsley, chopped, bread crumbs, Romano cheese, mozzarella cheese, combine, should be stiff, not runny. I scoop with ice cream scoop onto a plate or right into frying pan of heated either peanut oil or olive oil, I pat down with ice cream scoop, brown turning once. Make your homemade dipping sauce, or just use sour cream.♥️♥️🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
Add some salsa of your choice and some taco meat or seasoned beef to the mashed potatoes along with the other ingredients you added. I've made something similar to stuff potato shells with. I've also done it with a pizza or pie crust. Makes a great dish no matter which way you go with your kicked up potatoes.
Tacos de papa also good with Pozole😊
I plan to pig out on some of those this Sunday!
We use those bagged mashed potatoes all the time. In fact, we had Pork Chops and Mashed Potatoes last night. Good stuff.
I love those little bags of instant potatoes. They're better than most people's homemade potatoes.
When everyone is happy & brown is the signal for world peace
Potato flakes were a staple of my childhood!
You, just had an idea for Sam. Make these rollers but half potato, half chicken. Make a gravy to dip them in. Then a potato and pot roast roller with a ranchero or a green salsa dip.
We use to go to this place called Wally’s Pad.they had potatoes stuffed in some kind of a dough. Fried with cheese sauce for dipping. Oh my gosh heaven.
Better way to make the potatoes is to mix in milk and butter. Do one cup water, one cup milk and bring to a simmer. Then add in the potato mix and one table spoonish of butter. Makes then just a little bit better.
Mashed potato mac and cheese is great too. Just made some last night.
So how about you guys possibly try a stuffed cabbage roll Recipe ? The potato taquitos. Absolutely awesome guys 👌👌😎😎😎😎😎
Max breaking his 1 bite rule 🤣 that crunch though!! I agree for sure!
I lived in LA when I was 16 and there was a little Chinese food spot I'd go through and they had mashed potato eggrolls. They were peppery and a bit on the sweet side. I have never found them anywhere else and I bet there is a name for them and I would love to find out.
I'll be making these!!😋😋👍
Simple and delicious 😋
Sam, could you do a porchetta sometime? Thanks for teaching me to cook more often.
we had these at Joey's in Vancouver and we made them at home so nice, but we used like an asian thin wrap
Been eating these in taco form for years off the food trucks that come to our job sites .. always very good
Make sure to try Mashed Potato Egg Rolls
They are a game changer
Great idea! Budget friendly, too.
I want pepperoni & banana peppers in there too... yum
You should try chicken potato tacos as well 🤤
I use shredded chicken, fried diced potatoes, corn tortillas, queso fresco crumbled, lettuce, pico de gallo, fresh salsa, and of course lemon.
I used to work at a brick oven pizza and cheesesteak shop and the Mexicans that worked there always made their own food. There was often tostada like shells made with masa, extremely hot salsa made with piquin and arbol chiles and these. Fresh cut fries were on the menu, so they would often mash some potatoes up, wrap them up in a stack of store bought corn tortillas and fry them in the fryer. I can appreciate why meat wasn’t a common part of their cooking but one day I suggested they add some bacon from the line and they never went back to not adding it. That’s also where I got addicted to eating my Lays potato chips with cholula.
"If it's worth doing, it's worth doing RIGHT."
I ALWAYS have instant mashed potatoes in the pantry. They got me through some tough times in my poorer days. Ramen wasn't a thing back then. Now days they're an emergency plan when the bag of potatoes you had went bad. Lol. Doctor them up.
Sometimes I make more mashed potatoes than needed, just so I can make other things. These for example. Awesome, fun little treat. Add whatever you have on hand. Delicious. Lots of other uses for leftover mashed potatoes.
I like to put leftover shepherds pie into the nacho hard taco shells. It tastes better than you would think.
Imagine dipping these in gravy 🤤🤤
Those potatoes are almost all we use anymore.
Never seen potato tacos, so now I'll have to give 'em a try.
I grew up in El Paso, TX. Potato & cheese tacos were a staple served at my high school cantina. Three tacos for $1. Life was great in the 90’s!
Hello! Awesome vid Sam! Where I live we had a restaurant called "Wally's pad" they served frog legs as a Staple! BUT BUT !!!! They also had potato rolls like that. Plain fried inside egg roll wrappers. They also had an jalapeno version and dip that into a cheddar sauce! Insane good! I really miss those days. I make them on the reg!!! I like the tex-mex version!!!!
I used the packaged mashed potatoes all the time. I put a few tablespoons of butter plus some cheese. People think I made them from scratch.
A little chorizo might be nice. I say that because I once had a delicious taco with mashed potatoes and chorizo. It was awesome.
