Sorry your friend had to go through that unsavoury experience. We have along way to go before women can feel safe in South Asia. Sri Lanka's probably the safer of all SA countries for women but still have a long way to go.
ASIA continent is one of the best, diverse and most beautiful by far on the planet. So proud of being half Asian roots and beautiful diversity cultures. :)

This reminded me of the time we took the train from Kandy to Ella. We did not get to sit for 3 hours 😭😁 But the views made up for it. I have a series on Sri Lanka on my channel too and totally loved your vlogs!

Sri Lanka sure does look like a beautiful country. I follow Dale Philip and he's made a few trips to Sri Lanka and he showed all different parts and looks like a beautiful clean country and the people there seem very nice as well.

The most unique thing of being in Sri Lanka is every item you consume is offered by hand with joy by a lovely human being. No vending machines, factory intervention or plastic packages= like in the West. So tired of everything artificial. Miss every person who served during my trip. Human touch!

Best place to snorkel is hikkaduwa coral reef(Hikkaduwa National Park), 54km away from mirissa. water is much clear and everything is better around September to January. sorry about the unsavory experience. Enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing :)

If your traveling in Tuk's the charge is 50-60 rupees for the fist kilometer, then 40 rupees for every extra kilometer. anything over these prices are overcharging. I'm Sri Lankan.

If you're British and have qualifications, you can check out an institution called the British Council here in Sri Lanka. All teachers are foreign, temporary residents. I have also heard of a few foreign nationals getting jobs here (various fields), and it seems possible and easy compared to other places like China or Japan.

I love and miss my culture. But one thing I don't miss is the unsavory experiences. Living there I never made long trips alone. The situation is not as bad as india, but you have to be careful as a woman. That is the truth. If you are a woman traveling alone, make sure you do your research beforehand.
