Yes the two hair colours are metaphors. Dark hair was shown when he was all gloomy, he was broken and dint want to move on in his life. And blonde hair meant change when he was fighting his inner self to ge back to life, to collect himself(a broken mirror is shown in black out)and overcome his pain.
