The fact is there is no better bike than Himalayan 450 for sale in india......it satisfies every aspect....it looks pretty.....has a nice engine( Very refine under single cylinder standards).....its value for money......paractically a great bike
Well it's best adventure bike overall but you can't say best bike in India. It'd be different for different needs. I mean for someone who'll never go to off-roading and will still encounter bad roads, Dominar 400 is equally good bike
I did a test ride of these motorcycles several times.... To b honest i never enjoyed riding the Him 450. The bike is damn heavy and the engine lacks refinement whereas the honda is way more balanced and the engine is butter smooth. Next comes the reliability part. 😅 everyone knws that we can take our Hondas to our coffin😅...
I really liked the verdict at the end - Ditch both of these bikes and wait for upcoming KTM Adv 390 with the new engine. Himalayan 450 has set a new benchmark with the sophistication of its suspension and in all likelihood the upcoming Adv 390 is expected to surpass that. And if that happens Himalayan 450 will be eclipsed by the new Adv 390. Fingers crossed. And the service center experience and spare parts availability of KTM will definitely be better than that of RE.
Have owned bikes of both KTM and RE, and my own personal experience at KTM service centers has been far better than that of RE. That is not to say that there are no shortcomings at KTM service centres but in the overall sense KTM service experience is much better than that of RE.
Even if you want to buy the NX, you cant as Honda has royally messed up the imports and the next batch is going to come in October only. People who had booked in Jan are still waiting. And the next 390 ADV might be launched around Oct-Dec. So yes, it makes perfect sense how the comparision concluded!
I have nx500 , the issue of soft suspension you guyz said can be adjusted it is default comes with 2 level which is softer side ,you can set it to 3 . And about horn switch plcement i knocked 2000km and i am used to it now… and twin cylinder has good ride quality vs single
It's interesting how we can keep analyzing all the pros and cons of these motorcycles, but after riding all types of motorcycles for 🎉over 50 years, I found the most important quality is how does it feel, and does it excite the senses every time you take it out! If we actually over refine a motorcycle there's a danger of removing the very essence of what makes it special. I think that's where the Roya Enfield would be an easy winner.
Depends. I didnt quite like the Himalayan although its a great motorcycle for its price. Sat on the NX, turned the engine on, and the low grunty dual cylinder exhaust note itself felt like magic. The bike screams quality throughout. Rich torque pull, no vibrations, comfortable ergonomics. On a 800km day, a ADV or Himalayan might feel very fun for the first 200-400kms(because of the snatchy acceleration) but at the end of the day, you would probably wish you had the NX. Of course, the price is too high and this needs to come the CKD route. Honda, please listen.
I tried both. And even the Honda is better but also more boring and a lot more pricier if you want the extra accessories that are standard on the Himalayan. Here in The Netherlands the price difference is over €2000 and the Honda is definitely not €2000 better. For the price the Himalayan is practically unbeatable
RE Himalayan . . . No comparison to Honda NX500. If anybody has that kind of money to spend, go for it. I can easily buy CB 300R, but NX500 is more than double. But what a motor cycle, weight distribution is amazing. Honda is Honda.
In North America the value proposition is flipped, as for some reason RE has priced the Himalayan 450 above the Honda NX500 and the KTM 390 Adv, once fees and freight are factored into the price (RE is charging almost double the freight of Honda where I am). I like the bike but there is no way I am going to pay almost 10,000CAD for one (about ₹ 6.05 lakhs).
Good comparo, as I myself was wondering whether premium small tourers like Trk 502X, NX500, Versys650, Tiger 660 make sense, or should I save my money and go for the 400 class of ADVs like the Himmy 450 or the Adv 390 and the spend the rset of my budget upgrading my gear and luggage. I know its an unfair comparison, but the 400 class has gotten so much better lately, the oly justification of spending 7/8 lakhs + on a CBU tourer when you have SO MUCH CAPABILITY in the 400s is the allure of bigger multi-cylinder bikes :) And therefore this comparo helps!
If the himalayan gets an Optional spoke tubeless and quickshifter to choose for customer for extra money for those who are willing.....it will be a much more charm
Not at all a fan of the Royal Enfield's implementation of the rotary switches inn all of their current motorcycles, it takes a lot of time to get adjusted to it from the conventional ones which were tactile and easy to use. As mentioned the weight of the Himalayan 450 feels little bit on the heavy side in comparison to that of the Honda NX 500 due to weight distribution which is comparatively on the top side. Lifting the Himalayan 450 off from the side stand definitely is a challenge in comparison to that of the Honda NX 500. The engine wise both are really good, In the case of the Himalayan 450 its an entirely new engine developed from scratch and it comes with few of its down sides but as we all know Royal Enfield tends to listen to their customers and improve the shortcoming over the period of time. As for the Hondas Engine its a proven engine across the world and no words to compare. Suspension wise Himalayan's Suspension have a slight edge over the Honda's one cause it feels so soft which is not always great across the various challenging roads of India. Price wise even though we can 2 Himalayan 450's with price of one Honda NX 500 but the uniqueness and reliability, smoothness, build quality provided by Honda is unmatched. So do make the right choice in buying you bike😀

Absolutely don't understand their strategy.
The 450’s engine felt like a small diesel generator 😅. Gear shifts were makkhan. And for the RE guys to launch the tubeless tyres for the Himalayan it’s probably like launching the tyres on Mars. It’s almost been 6 months since I’ve been hearing them say that. Spares supply also has been so bad with all RE models. One of my friends has a GT 650 and to get the Center stand it took a month. I booked a shotgun march end and I’m still waiting.
Just a word about service centres...I own Interceptor 650 and recently I have noticed that RE service centres are becoming extremely overcrowded and overburdened with the sheer number of bikes to be serviced. That was always the case but recently the problem has intensified with the swarm of Classic 350, Hunters and Meteor 350s lined up long outside service centres - It feels like the bikes are lined up outside a polling centre ready to cast their votes. People upgrading from their old 100-150 cc bikes to 350-450 cc bikes is what creating all these scenarios. It's not our mistake but the dealers should improve their service experience. They should have more space and should hire more technicians to tackle this problem.

And a wise man told "the value for money discussion ends when you exit the showroom with the bike and the rest is all ownership experience". Surely it's priced on higher side but if one can afford it, he'll surely have a hassle free long term ownership. I'm a huge fan of the CB500X and NX500 is no exception. I want a bike that can be used for 10 years clocking more than 1.5L km without any major issues and this Honda checks my requirements. But unfortunately I don't have enough money to buy this one. But I would still say that it's priced decently well when compared to CB500X pricing at its launch time.
@@suryateja2k11 very well said brother. I really appreciate. Since its a CBU unit & honda does not locally manufacture it in India so import duties & customs charges added to it makes the price higher. But the supreme ride quality & the premium feel & experience, ultra level fit & finish & long term reliability with that bullet-proof Honda engine cannot be experienced with any budget segment "so called value for money" motorcycles. These honda bikes does not target everyone, people who value quality over anything & have the bank balance to afford it are the ones to experience this japanese beauty. The thing which seperates Honda from RE or other Indian two-wheeler manufacturers is the top-notch engineering which comes at a price. The brilliant weight distribution in NX500 is the reason why it feels so light, agile & nimble to ride. I myself own a CB300R which I bought after it got a huge price cut & I must say in my bike too, Honda's quality & refinement is evident everywhere. No bike on earth is perfect or can be perfect.

Royal Enfeild experience is very worst, it has no reliability . While driving in Royal Enfeild can never get peace of mind. Cone set knock sound still there with this Himalaya also . As mentioned in Video need to Wait for KTM , hope they will come with better bike
“Yes, the Himalayan is almost half the price of the other motorcycle…” but let’s just ignore that. Haha! Get two: one for your wife, or convince a friend to buy one, now you can have a proper adventure
In India, as far as I know, you have big tax for imported bikes. For us in Europe, the Honda is just 25% more expensive. 6k€ For the Himy, 7.5k€ for the Honda .. The new CF moto 450 mt beats them both on money 5.5k€ and on specs.
India has limited USD, If we remove all the tax then USD will be exhausted for all the luxury, draining the RBI forex. So CBU units will always be costly. Come to 100cc motorbike, nowhere you get but only in India.
After watching this biased comparison😂 I can clearly conclude that Honda NX500 is a better overall package in terms of refinement, reliability, premium feeling, fit & finish, affordable servicing( need not to visit service centre often unlike RE), fat rear tyres, tubeless tyres, good heat management both in cities & highways,feather-light clutch, better & elegant TFT display, better utilisation of windshield. Since its a CBU unit so customs charges & import duties added to it makes the price higher. These bikes are locally not manufactured in India. So these bikes do target only specific enthusiast. And talking about suspension, since its a CBU unit so Honda did not specifically tuned it for Indian roads condition, but still it does its job well if not better than the himalayan. I think Honda NX500 is the most exciting motorcycles anybody wants to keep in their garrage for long term.
Exciting and Honda are two words that don't fall into the same dictionary. Reliable, long lasting and accessible, yes the Honda ticks all of these boxes. And if you're seeking that, then yeah, there's nothing quite like it, at least for now.
@@ackodrive exciting being the term used here in a sense that though it has linear power delivery (roughly makes around 47bhp) but the motorcycle has torque literally from idle & it seamlessly goes up to the red line without any sense of strain in the engine & that makes it such a special experience. @@thehooniganbiker in future the top 2 get tubeless spokes so let's calculate that price ...and I mean pretty soon ..I am hearing motoverse is the timeline ...
The current KTM 390 ADV has a lot of shortcomings, especially the standard version. The lower spec X has better suspension but not as well damped and the SW adds adjustability but is pricey.
In Europe there is less than a 15% price difference between both. They absolutely compete for the same buyer outside of India. What makes me question the pricing strategy of RE.
Umm that's a very old bike that Kawasaki is seeking to localise. So when you put it against these two, it won't have the right thrill and capability to execute long tours in a comfy manner.
How are the two different? The Himalayan might have a bit more off road ability but 90% of the time ADVs are used on the road and hence both fell in the same bracket.
Now auto journalism is also same as our news channels. 😅 No point arguing cause people who don’t know shit will come to argue why not compare them same power and top speed blah blah, you just waste your time arguing with them and these guys make more engagement out of it 😂
I am sorry but I have to say this, looking at both as just a mile manchar, the third option seems the better one the interceptor 650, I do almost 700 to 800 km per day at 100 to 120 km per hour and it still has that refinement, also drastically higher 52 Nm of torque which is more than sufficient to beat both of these machines in terms of roll on acceleration. I know I am praising my bike but it's really really incredible engine. Very underrated.
There's no doubt the interceptor has a great engine for just clocking miles. However, the suspension is just not up to the mark. And hence, we will have to wait until the upgrades come in for the bike for a much better overall experience
@@ackodrive if we put price into consideration upgrading the suspension what is simple yss kit will solve that issue under 25000 rs instead of spending close to 6 lacs for the Honda, doesn't that make more sense?

@@abhishekdasgupta1640 true. NX500 sits at a price bracket where no bike is even close to it's pricing. And something's can't be compared to value for money proposition.
Thank you!(literally) for destroying NX500 for me in comparison to Himalayan (just add tubeless tyres)
you guys need to go on a diet. The jacket is screaming for help
Yeah, we've put those boys on an OMAD scene, let's see how much they shed.😬🤣🤙🏻
Oh God you mentioned it 😅, poor bikes were straining to pull that extra ballast on board.
@@ackodrive a bicycle might help
Glad somone other than me called it out!
comparison with nx500 is only worthwhile if u can buy the nx500 here. honda has stopped selling it as of now and deliveries are pushed to year end or possibly nex year.
If 10 people would go up to the bigwing & purchase NX500 then they will be riding one of the most incredible motorcycle Honda makes.
Nit picking mostly. It sounds like, over all, the Honda is better.
How cn a 3.5 lakh bike be compared with 6lakhs bike?

Himalayan is like:
I don't want wind protection
I want air,, always
Heart says Honda brain(wallet) says RE
If we are leaving off roading, dont you think present ktm adv 390 beats both of the machines.
The current KTM 390 ADV has a lot of shortcomings, especially the standard version. The lower spec X has better suspension but not as well damped and the SW adds adjustability but is pricey.
Himalayan is best
No comparison 3.5 lakh vs 7 lakh
On paper, it sure does seem that way but the Honda would have some takers who won't mind what it is offering at that price
In Europe there is less than a 15% price difference between both. They absolutely compete for the same buyer outside of India. What makes me question the pricing strategy of RE.

Now wait for Versys x300
Umm that's a very old bike that Kawasaki is seeking to localise. So when you put it against these two, it won't have the right thrill and capability to execute long tours in a comfy manner.
Comparing gold with bronze
haha the cult himalayan buyers are taking it in thousands and demand far exceeds the supply😂😂
Seems to be paid frpm RE
Why why!! Both are different types of motorcycle why do you want to compare it?it make no sense!!
How are the two different? The Himalayan might have a bit more off road ability but 90% of the time ADVs are used on the road and hence both fell in the same bracket.
How are they different kindly explain?
Both are in the same power band .. so comparison makes sense ..
Noone is comparing NX with Versys 650 ..
I kind of am attracted towards the honda for it's weight management at rest or when you are footing it, ofcourse the rub is the price
Now auto journalism is also same as our news channels. 😅
No point arguing cause people who don’t know shit will come to argue why not compare them same power and top speed blah blah, you just waste your time arguing with them and these guys make more engagement out of it 😂
Both of you guys need a jacket one size bigger😅
This review of both bikes, Hummm , Are you sure guys?
Baseless comparison. 😂
bruce lee vs samurai
When TH-camrs still say that google maps on the Himalayan is a feature despite battery drain of the mobile 🤦♂️🤡
Been using it for 4 months now. Its very usefull for city drives. Can keep the phone safely in the pocket. But For long drives u will need the charger cable.
We've said it's pointless unless you use a second phone and charger but as a feature that's present it certainly ticks one more box than the Honda.
why both of your hand gestures feel forced
Honda, thats all!!!
390 Adventure 😂 All dicussions end there.
You are lucky, the NX500 will be only by 30% dearer here……
" only... 30% dearer" 😯

Twin cylinder vs single cylinder ? Don't make these comparison video they make no sense at all.
Why does a cylinder matter? Similar capacity, similar segment, similar intention, that's what you should be looking at. And even if there's an extra cylinder here, is it actually doing more? We don't think so.
