It is a practice session; but they actually played almost a two set match (Rafa asked Dimitrov if they could do a tie break after four games in the second set because it was passed 8:30 and he and his team wanted to be sure they could make it for dinner; so they did). Not only that, unfortunately after all these years Grigor still has not understood his own style of game. His style of play is to be aggressive and attacking the net at every chance, not staying back and grinding it out. His ground strokes are not nearly as punishing enough to dictate from the base line, nor are defensive skills for that matter.
@@andromeda939 I disagree. His weakness is not having a B-game when he is off his A-game. Think about it. Look back at the match he lost against Nadal in Australian open; the multiple games he lost against Stan in the first rounds in consecutive years; the matches he lost to Fed in Australian open. He keeps upping the ante even if the shot is not there. Sharapova commented the same in her book as well. All-time great players have multiple ways to win. They can forcibly take the initiative or give it back and see what you do with it. They can be offensive wizards or defensive juggernauts depending on where they are in the match, or what the situation calls for to win.
And still he won the match against Korda on Saturday and took the first set of the match against Grigor (settled the second set with a tie break after four games because it was getting late for their dinner reservations).
