Although I don't generally like American systems, and going alongside something Sloth was saying, the idea of a defencive leader vocal at the back, an offensive organiser at the front and a good link player who can pass messages would allow for better teamwork and reading of the game; on the pitch. I think there are vocal players on the pitch already, but I am not sure that the whole team is talking or that communication is clear enough. Bowen will become better and better as a captain, across all the areas of responsibility. He just seems to have that work ethic and decency so he can give anything less than his best. Kilman and Alverez need to read their areas and coordinate, as well as Areola commanding his box more. I believe all that will come with time and familiarity. As Frankie said. So many new players and coaches. Different languages and backgrounds. Needs time but it will click together.
Leaders will lead whether they're captain or not, so may as well let Bowen be a figurehead/ lead by example captain, and then the likes of Alvarez are still going to be leading on the pitch anyway. Bowen is in no way responsible for our mediocre start to the season in my opinion.
Bowen been good this season. 4g/a and he forced the goal at City. Sure he’s not in his best form ever but he’s not “regressed” or been shit like you suggest here. Maybe look at who has actually been shit like Kudus and Antonio and Paqueta.

Prefer my capt to be like Bonzo
Alverez all day long
I'm pretty sure Bowen had the 5th most chances created in the league this season he's definitely high on the list
