Need to re-design the intake manifold/plenum. For some reason seams the airflow is favoring certain cylinders. Making them run lean and unequal power production between the 6. Also could be cylinder to cylinder fuel/spark tuning/adjustments… need made. I would do a central inlet on the plenum, also indirect. Meaning the butterfly points to the “roof” or “floor”. Therefore it’ll equally pressurize the plenum by indirect airflow. Boost will likely read higher, but cylinder to cylinder distribution will be dialed 👍🏻🤘🏻👏🏻
Wow that’s respect for a company to come out supply what you need by modifying it to your spec. Red Horse performance I will keep them in mind. Thanks brother, great video btw and congratulations on your personal best!👍🏻 also looked like your dads car was running less rpm than yours.
It's a Husky tool box. My original one got stolen, and I don't think they make them anymore. I had to find my replacement on eBay. It's the perfect toolbox for drag and drive. All the wrench sizes up to 7/8. Took me a long time to find this particular one.
Those EGT deltas are wild, the finest cheap-o sensors (from a country I can't type the name of or my comment will auto-delete) or not I don't recall hearing you talk about installing EGT sensors (my bad if I missed something!), but did you try to make them uniform, so you get some semblance of useful data out of them other than just whether a hole is hot or cold? Whaddya suppose makes the huge deltas? Time for separate cooling for the block and the head, perhaps with separate pumps?
I don't have a ton of experience with EGTs. I tried to install them all with a uniform depth. My hope with the EGTs was to sort of be a go no-go gauge. Basically is the cylinder firing or not. I wasn't really paying attention to what temperature it was, just that there was temperature. Most people I listen to say it's like chasing your tail to try to get all the temps to be even
That was awesome to know what got u hooked on the 4200. Never knew about the nova wagon & 4200 was getting swapped/modded back in 2005. Mind blown.🤯🤯🤯🤯
Man I was so stoked for you getting some deserved coverage on 1320!!Also, I've never met any of the guys that work there, but I helped wire a car at a previous job that had a Red Horse cage and I can tell you it was some top notch fab work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them just based on how nice the fitment was on that car... sounds like they are some rad dudes as well.
Yeah. Depends on what type of sensor you have, what fuel type, depth of the sensor in the port, etc. my friend runs 1700+ on his setup every single pass.
Working a few bugs out on the 5.7 Iron LS I stuffed in my 2007 Bowtie Classic to replace the seized 4.8. Anyways I hope to see some LU3 and LV1 Vortec 4300 HighPerf builds, they don't get enough love.
I have a 2001 Deville with the Northstar. I removed the engine and rebuilt it. I repaired one stripped out head bolt hole and stopped it from over heating. My problem now is it smoking. I'm 100% sure it's because the cylinders are bad. I'm going to remove the engine again, take it apart and have new cylinder liners install.
GM aka Generally Miserable had a potential world beater on their hands. As usual the bean counters (1) got in the way and mucked things up. 1) As much hate as the bean counters get they are a necessary evil. The problem comes in when they get too much power in the decision making process.
Well AFR is just an average of all the cylinders since there is probably only 1 sensor so like if the flows less it can be lean and even if a couple others flow more then that can make the AFR lower so all cylinders get less fuel making it worse that's kinda the reason to have 6 egt sensors it's not as good as 6 O2 sensors but much cheaper just should have trusted them more or checked it out
Hey, Sick Summer was in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. Not Michigan. I think people like seeing an engine that is not an LS. These 4200 straight 6's are pretty cool. Sorry I did not go to Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin this year. It sounds like I would have missed you anyway. So why the melted piston? Bad injector?

Maybe investing in Starlink or Starlink Mini would be worth it for these drag and drives. You could have a wifi network between your and your dad's cars to share it, and you would be able to make phone calls in the middle of nowhere. If you had one of the flat roof mounts, you could even live stream your drives if you wanted to. It would be awful if something happened to you or your dad in the middle of nowhere and you couldn't call for help. Either way, I am glad you guys got to make some passes and get some data, and as always I look forward to whatever you guys have coming next!
Sorry about the disappointing outing. You ran a survey asking about your next project. Have you had a chance to make a choice? I’m personally hoping for a first gen firebird since an OHC was available.
I would not say it is disappointing. I had a great time. That's just racing. We have decided, but it is kind of an "all of the above" answer. Lol. Won't do them all at once.
