    Great video. Great explanation. It's easier than I thought.

    Very helpful thank you! I know it's not easy to tmak a video. Great tip with the rag in the chain to snug it up.
    So, what kind of a bike stand should I get from Harbor Freight? I need to buy one.

      It appears that harbor freight no longer carries the exact rear wheel stand that I'm using. I did find very similar ones on Amazon. The bike master branded rear stand on Amazon is the most similar to the one I'm using so look for that one.

    What is the correct freeplay adjustment? That's all I really need to know. (1.6-2") Thank you for showing a good way to do this.

    Thank you, great video! Would you mind sharing the name of the skid plate you have on your DRZ in the video?

    The old chain has places of tightness and sag when you twist it, you must find place where chain stretched harder and this place be adjustment

      excellent point. I knew that but didn't think to put it in the video. Thanks for bringing that up.

    My 2023 drz400s manual says 79.5 ft lbs for the axel nut...any ideas why our numbers differ?

    • @motoventurenw
      @motoventurenw  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hum, not entirely sure why the 5.5 ft lb difference. I can only guess that Suzuki updated some of it's manual specs or maybe they are using different type of axle nut on newer models. You could verify with the shop that you bought it at too. I would say follow your manual on what is says for your bike.

      The manual shows different torque values for the USA and the rest of the world.

    So that is what those numbers are for. My chain was looser than yours holy crap I am lucky I didn't crash. Can you recommend a jack? Do I need a certain kind for the drz? How often do you need to do it?

    Great video. Very comprehensive. Lighting, editing, and sound are all very professional! I am a little surprised you do not address the wheel being on the ground versus being on the stand, as it may effect the chain free play ? Do you measure with the wheel on the ground, and adjust with it on the stand ? Or does it truly not matter ? Thank you.

    • @motoventurenw
      @motoventurenw  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The suspension is fully extended with the rear wheel on a stand (off the ground) or on the ground, so it really doesn't matter. Although, it's easier to do the job if the bike is on a stand upright. I've done it both ways.

    Says it the manual to take ur measurements with the bike in the side stand.

      Agreed. If you adjust when the bike is lifted it will become tight when on the side stand or riding. (swing arm physics)

    Very informational video, would you be able to do this same video but for the SM version of the DRZ400 as that is the model I have. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find too much on TH-cam for the sm model, it would be so very helpful! Thanks, stay safe out there!!

      I would like to show the SM model adjusters on video, but I don't own an SM model. Sorry

    is the top of the chain tension a useless measurement? i had always checked the top of it , but it appears i was doing it wrong!
