Agreed bro :) Although I must say, I challenge Noelle quite often, I have her Artefacts where I like them and using Whiteblind, at level 90 C6, I just love sweeping with her at 58AR
She is a “Complete” character, but nobody wants that, because in Genshin your “Team” should act as a complete whole. But Noelle acts as a team in itself (if that makes sense)
Sad but True. This makes her less valuable in timed end game content like abyss (unless you have powerful sub dps like Albedo) but she's definitely reliable
That's just wrong , with gorou and yunjin and at C6 her DPS potential is as high as xiao but unlike xiao she can swap and heals and shield and have massive AoE like him
Noelle really shines in co op where you only have one character. Since she does everything it's like you still have a team of characters and she can carry weak teams through fights since she never dies.
Definitely need to find the right balance for ER Efficiency. I used Favonius Greatsword and found my Ult up 24/7 which is nice. You do miss out on damage unfortunately. She is best with 1 extra geo.
Out of curiosity have you read her story stuff? Because Noelle is canonically so strong she had to have a special sword made because she straight up broke the other ones because they couldn't take the stress. She threw an entire burning cart into a nearby lake and then singlehandedly pulled out the cart and its cargo once extinguished. Jean and the Knights went out of their way to make sure Noelle had other things to keep her busy during the whole Stormterror incident lol

Her hangout is inspired by one punch man, when she hitted stuff to mine some rocks she caused earthquake.. she casually lifts full bookcases in library on daily basis with one hand and doesn't drop a single book to clean with another hand under them. By physical strenght only character on par with her would be maybe Shenhe, but if you include one punch man trivia i would say Noelle might far exceed everything for lolz.
@@piotrj333 Yeah one of her tidbits in her story is that Lisa dropped a book and was worried about looking decent while grabbing it, so Noelle appeared, lifted the bookshelf with one hand, balanced it on that one hand while grabbing the book, then set it back down without a single book falling out. Do you know what is the most sad thing about the last fact you said (jean keeping her busy). That Jean does this shit instead of... you know... scholaring Noelle or hire someone to scholar her. It is in her best interest to have good and reliable knights in her ranks. And by teaching Noelle how to knight properly she would get herself one of the best knights out there. But Jean is like Hoyovers. Keeps ignoring Noelle and people tend to blame it on Noelle that she is not worthy because that and that. While I agree that Noelle has fair share of flaws which should definitely prevent her from being Knight, fact that everyone except Noelle herself leaves this as it is, is just unreal. Why on earth would you keep individual "safe" when she just needs some nudges in right way in order to be actually a good Knight? Whole thing around no one giving two shits about Noelle's effort (no, not even Jean. She made the salute for Noelle when she saw her, but that is literally it. Everything else she does around Noelle is just ignorance and outright disrespect, change my mind) is so unbelievably inconsistent and unreal.
Noelle main here; Excited to see what you have to say! She’s certainly got some solid attributes, but the fact that she’s a main DPS four star really does hold her back at times. Still love my little combat maid though! Edit: Great video! I think one thing it would have been good to address in great detail is why exactly Noelle basically is forced to be a main to be a main DPS rather than support. I’ve seen so many people argue that Noelle is a great healer and shielder, but they seem to fail to realize that these traits are only at the best when Noelle is on the field and swinging as much as possible (appropriate for a maid who does everything herself, I might add). If you are using Noelle JUST for her shields, use Diona or Zhongli instead. For heals, just use Barbara or Koko.
As a Noelle Enjoyer myself. C6 Triple Crown Redhorn R1(for now) Attc:1,150 Def: 2,034 Crt: 58% Crit Dmg: 244% On my Team comp. She's my main DPS healer Shielder (even if I have Geo dad) For me the Cooldown is the only thing stopping her from being a totally broken character.
I'm surprised Noelle got an episode as to my concern, she has a descently large dedicated fanbase and her fans are quite loyal to her. I see Noelle mains left and right just like how I see Yanfei mains. I myself main Noelle tho I guess I understand her problems like any other units (energy problems, really only good at c6 or early game)
Yeah but unlike yanfei only competition for her is Itto and arguably Ningguang, also she has had like what? 6 different indirect buffs to her kit? Theres Gorou and his c6, Redhorn Stonethresher, Husk Set, Zhongli, Geo Resonance Buffs, Yunjin and her c6, Yeah overall Noelle is Very Underrated rn considering she had a lot of buffs and everyone just shrugged it off
Noelle is literally my favorite character, not only because she was the first one i pulled, but because i like every aspect of hers. Her design is beautiful, her voice actresses in all languages do a great job, her personality is just pleasant, her backstory as well, and her playstyle is so fun. I just recently got her 6th constellation, and i can finally dedicate myself to making her my main dps, she is a one woman army and i love her for it Update: i know Itto's banner ended, but when it was happening, i finally got Redhorn, so now i have THE weapon for her, poggers.
As a triple crowned noelle player going for red horn, she feels great in comps for her but meh everywhere else. She’s convenient but has too much energy needs to justify as a flex pick.
I get that this series is from the perspective of a veteran whale, but Noelle was a life saver in the early to mid game. She deals ok damage but can take a beating while healing the rest of your team. A very useful character to have for newer f2p players, especially when trying to kill the bosses. I can't picture trying to kill the Primo Geovishap earlier in the game without her.
Oh god yes, heck even geo cube with her claymore and shield was amazing. Some people in coop were confused why I brought a geo character to the boss. I didn't even use her burst, just Normal Attacks and shield. Neglected for too long. Now that I'm farming friendship for her..rekindled my love for the maid and wanna build her after I finish raising my sucrose to 80/90. She has ok hush/maiden artifacts. Just need to level them while I raise her to 80/90
From a Noelle main. She's the best character early game, worst character mid game and great character good game. Can be even stronger depend on future sub dps , like Yelan.

If She is being worst due to artifact, then basically every character is the worst at that same point. If She is being worst due to the fact she requires C6 to be a Main DPS, then that also invalid. Because She is already good before C6. And C6 made Her better by turning Her into a true All Rounder unit. Also, stuff about "X will be better depending on future support unit" Applies to literally Every Character. Unless said "future unit" Is specifically made for certain character/element (like Sara, Garou, Yunjin, and/or enabler)

And can accomodate any kind of rotation thank to the ability to switch mid Q. Itto cant even reset Gorou buff after 10 second
Honestly surprised I didn’t hear a portion of the video dedicated to what I consider to be her worst flaw (as someone who has dedicated time and resources into make Noelle one pf the best dmg dealers): Her Energy. Noelle has literally everything you want in a character, but her particle generation is non existent outside of burst mode. She needs to be paired with another Geo Battery in order to properly keep her burst up. Besides that, she has proven to be incredible
I have to agree. I invested for a no-downtime build on her and it was quite the investment. It could be a deal breaker if she ends her Q without energy to spare
I think that is a general content creator problem. A lot of CC (not TC or people who are close to TC) just assume you get the Burst without knowing what the character needs to get the Burst back. "ER doesn't give higher numbers so it can't be a damage increase". That's what i think a lot of CC think. They don't look at ER. They sometimes know that a character has enegy issues but they don't really care about it. Because ER/batteries doesn't give more damage. And jf they jsut use Raiden as battery. Maybe I'm too pessimistic.
@@MrPsychopathy But DPS is damage per second. And for good DPS you need good up time on your burst. But as i said: Some CC don't look at them and assume you get them on cooldown.
@@detlefswelt4546 She is definitely not among the best damage dealers, but she is amazing for coop because of her utility. She does decent damage, around 30k per swing, heals, gives shields, and is practically unkillable. She's often the last one standing, and can carry the whole team.

Honestly, i just like how Noelle is a simple character to understand. It like: “Here is a character with a shield that can heal and a big powerful sword that takes some time to charge, but can do decent damage”. It is a lot easier than trying to set up the perfect elemental reaction.
Yeah it's pretty easy to 36* the Abyss with just those two on a team for one side. I just add Zhongli for the resistance shred and that bonus from Gorou's C6. The 4th slot can be anyone. If I have Morgana on one side I'll put Raiden in that slot. Otherwise a nice CC user like Sucrose or Kazuha works just well. I actually prefer Sucrose for TTDS.
Yeah, like I didn't even farm for husk, just gave her Serpent Spine and 4 pc glad. She carries 1 side of the abyss and 3 stars all the opponents there easily. Which is why I can't ever get Itto. The claim that Itto does more damage may be true.. but by how much really? And getting Itto would also mean I would need a healer. so...
I'd argue Noelle is one of the best designed characters in the game. Yes, she's not a broken meta character, but she doesn't need to be. She's designed to be a crutch character for new players, offering shields, healing, and overworld utility since she's a claymore user. Even in lategame with her high HP and DEF she's still a brick wall that can carry players through any non-timed content via sheer survivability. She's not part of 36 star spiral abyss meta comps, but she does a great job as an anchor character casual players can always rely on.
I think it's not true. New players don't have the tools to recharge Noelle's ult, as she generates no energy and new players don't have many good artefacts, Favonius weapons or other Geo characters. If Noelle doesn't ult, F. In the healing department, new players got Bárbara, a hydro character. She'd be perfectly designed if she generated energy, a bit at least.
@@Huvale Your argument would be true if wasn't for. 1: The overworld give more then enough energy for all of the early game characters. 2: The early overworld was so easy you could just beat it with the blue weapon you can pick up off chest and +0 of whatever artifacts set and stats. The overworld only become a problem when AR45 because all enemy is level 80 above. 3: Noelle heal come from her elemental skill and not burst. 4: People aren't braindead.
@@Aibadenshi Well, let's see... The overworld gives many energy and enemies die rapidly. OK, TRUE, so then what's the point on using Noelle? If enemies die rapidly, the healing is not really that needed, but even if it was, she can't heal if she does not attack, but as it's so easy, you might kill the enemies so fast that the healing is conditional and inconsistent (50% chance while she shielded). Barbara is free too and she heals unconditionally, no need for energy or attacking, and more or less the same cd (thinking that Noelle does not have the second passive which reduces the cd of her shield, because we're in early game), but she's off field, and hydro, which can help you with many pyro enemies in the overworld and the hydro element itself is incredibly good. You could think Noelle is helpful with ores and enemies with geo shields. Well, most times is possible to plunge attack to get the ores and overcharge for the geo shields, but yes, in that case Noelle's really useful, that's true. And also, if enemies are weak, then you'd just kill them fast with any char, so I don't see why is SPECIFICALLY Noelle good for starters following your reasoning. She offers low damage, low healing (even though it might not be needed), low shield duration and she ain't that useful in the open world... I think you'd lose more time using her instead of another char in battle and change to her when there are ores around. Just my opinion, tho. PDD: What I meant with the thing that if Noelle does not ult, F, was that, if she doesn't ult, she has no damage at all and she'd be even more uncomfy to use, I wasn't refering to the healing. @@Huvale because you just cannot kill Noelle, ever. You can definitely kill barbra, she can be interrupted and 100-0 in a combo much more easily than Noelle. Noelle can only reasonably be killed if enemies makes an huge combo in the few second her shield is down, or in very edge cases. And on top of that, she ia the one shielder that can tank rifthound efdortlessly. She won't kill things fast, but she can beat things that are too dangeroua for evwrt other character. Things like the Inazuma powerspike or WR increases are much less lethal if you have even just a moderately built Noelle that can outlast everything.
@@noukan42 Wait, wait, wait. No, if a Barbara can be one shot, it's not well built, she scales of her HP, she should have a lot, even if her def is not high, should survive... Also, Barbara is used 2s in a rotation, so if she gets interrupted, it's because the player is not switching correctly... If you talk about frozen state, OK, it's a pass, Barbara is uncomfy in that case. If you use her as a enabler, it'd be more uncomfy, true, but generally you don't. About rifthounds, you need a very well invested Noelle to heal your party and is still VERY inconsistent, as the wolves move erratically, and you're bound not to hit many attacks with Noelle... I disagree, Barbara would still be more useful against those monsters. Another thing, I'm not really sure about this, but is considered Inazuma early game or early-mid? I don't know, as I was already AR 55 or so when Inazuma came out. I'd say Inazuma is mid game or mid-late, not early. And also, is highly likely that by that point you have already got better characters to cover the healer or shielder role... I still think Noelle would just delay your progress in most cases.
To be honest, not only would I excuse the high level of investment needed for Noelle, I would actually defend it as a unique way of incorporating character lore into gameplay. you mentioned before at about 2:42 you mention she has the near super natural ability to be anywhere at once. when you do her hangout event, she mentions that she does the One Punch Man routine (100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and "running two laps around Mondstadt"). She isn't everywhere because she can teleport like Xiao or something. she has to physically run to every place she needs to be, whether it's on the streets of Mondstadt, the halls of the knights of Favonius HQ, or even somewhere outside the city. not to mention that she'll go at the drop of a hat, too. There's a story about how Noelle saved someone from Dragonspine, but ending up getting bedridden with a high fever for 3 days straight, as well as Kaeya having to find any and everything to keep her from going after D'valin during the Stormterror Incident. Noelle is incredibly and admirably devoted to her work, and has amazing potential at the end of that road. Much like in her backstory and character, if the player works hard enough grinding for levels, talent books, artifacts, weapons, etc., they too can unlock that potential. I current have a c6 triple crowned Noelle with pretty good artifacts, and recently I got Redhorn for her (thank fucking god). I also got Skyward Harp just before Itto's banner, so I was trying to level both 5* weapons up. Even with a level 50 weapon, Noelle, with max stacks on Husk and buffs from teammates like Gorou, Yun Jin, and 4pc Noblesse buff, still hits for 20K per swing. Remember, the worst characters are the ones you never build. I can state confidently from experience that Noelle is VERY worth trying out, especially if you have any Def% pieces or spare claymore billets lying around. (i'm sorry that i'm not at all sorry about the 20 page essay of a comment. i just thought the connection between lore and gameplay was very interestingly done, even if it backfired and turned people away from her)
imo even Itto requires some real investement to compete with other dps and the reason isn't his numbers or his kit, but his element. not having access to reactions is really a big struggle you can solve only with perfect artifacts and good weapons.
@@skell6134 which brings me back to what i wrote before, to make good sheer dmg you need great artifacts and weapons try giving 60 crit rate and 130 crit dmg to Itto like the standard Raiden build in a national team and tell me if he can make a dmg comparable to Xianli- er I mean Raiden
@@ayakoha The point is that Raiden can cover weakness of Geo not being able to make reactions,they can just use Raiden's E for that instead Its not that hard to find usable artifacts for Geo DEF characters

Objectively, Noelle right now is the only "Real" tank in the game right now to me. Yes. There are other shielder that can consider to be a tank, but most of their utilities is just cast shield and make everyone the tank while Noelle shield is most effective and tankyest when it on her and not others character (besides from A1 passive) making her primary shield a very selfish one since the majority of it toughest come from Noelle own Def scaling, one is increasing it health with Def and others one is reducing DMG taking with said Def stats.
I agree 100% This rings especially when considering that her defensive capabilities are maximized only when she is on-field since that's when she heals and she can also maintain better uptime with on her shield. I'm yet to see a character as flexible as Noelle since she can run with only buffers and sub-dps as she negates the need for a healer and on-field dps
Tank is a hard word to use since Genshin doesn't have a solid aggro system (especially because is a singleplayer one character active at time game for most parts), I personally like to use the word Defender to refer to defensive focused character, I use it in Genshin and Warframe as well.
i feel like kokomi could also be considered a tank in burst mode when i fight azhdaha and he enters the element absorption phase, i don't even dodge and i haven't died once
Just to add to your point my Noelle is level 60... And she is still cabable of surviving level 90 enemies... Just goes to show how strong her shield really is.
@@emiki6 Yes, I did get her in the shop this month.and now she's a potential sub-dps on top of everything else! I'm leveling up her talents now. I've got her at Lv 9/11/11 with 21k HP, 1300 ATK and 3k DEF.
As someone who plays noelle I think she’s really balanced rn in genshin - she is a viable character for those that want to main her and is relatively easy to build. At the same time she’s not must-pull for broken character nor is universally versatile and a must-build character. And her character design is rlly nice.
Yea I like that she is balanced and not useless like Xinyan, but sadly in gacha game like Genshin being balanced is not good enough since you have to compete with broken character and most people would always use the most efficient character first. Noelle main are Noelle main because we love her and not because she is broken like Ganyu or Kazuha
@@LawrenceVengeance she is useless, her buff is not worth the time and effort to use especially cuz of her element is at odds with superconduct, she also take up precious spot. Eula aside, Razor is not a top tier character so he need all of the advantage to beat abyss so adding mediocre teammate is not an option. Rosaria or Kaeya is much more beneficial. Then the rest is healer/shielder/sub dps and yes she could do that role but not well. Her shield and sub DPS suck so using her as a support is more of a waifu reason than any practical use. Xinyan C6 is not the worst as she deal an okay damage with her charge attack but that's about it. She is like Qiqi where there is always a better option in every scenario Noelle is in similar position on 1.1 but Geo receive so many buff and element specific character buffer like Gorou, she is also compatible with Yunjin as well as a new Husk and Redhorn. She basically receive 5 times buff since release making her comparable to a 5 star DPS at C6 despite able to be a tank and healer (unfortunately a lot of team can beat abyss without healer so her advantage is kinda useless). But that take so much resource that most people can't reach that point but at least there is possibility while Xinyan and Qiqi is just nope.
@@LawrenceVengeance Xinyan isn't useless, she just needs a ton of investment and can't use superconduct. You need the Redhorn for her , and a double geo double pyro teamcomp with Bennett and Yunjin. Between the two, Noelle is of course better but Noelle is also extremely underrated in a game state where Redhorn, Husk and Gorou all exist.
@Waveshocker Sigma Xinyan's shield pulse and multi pyro hit burst cleanse enemies of cryo/electro auras, you need something like... idk, Yae and Kaeya to keep it going but it's very scuffed compared to just using Bennett, Yunjin and Zhongli.
I think she's one of the characters that has been the most indirectly buffed since release. There was 1.2 with Albedo (probably the best battery for her), 1.3 with geo resonance and Zhongli buffs, the Itto patch (Gorou, Redhorn, Husk), and also Yunjin. She went from among the worst characters to a very very solid dps. Still agree with most of your points though. EDIT: Also would you be interested in doing Kaeya? I main him and would be interested in seeing what makes him worse than the other 4-star cryo supports (Diona, Rosaria).
There is one advantage to Noelle you didn't mention: she's one of the few characters in the game that actually maintains her burst/infusion when switching out. This is something that not even Itto can do, which makes her much easier to use and switch to other characters if needed. Although I actually own both Noelle and Itto, I tend to prefer using the former. She's significantly simpler in design compared to Itto, which means spending a lot less brainpower and energy during combat when you don't really feel like it. Compared to Noelle, Itto has to manage stacks and can't switch out of burst, which are concerns not present for Noelle. Her healing and shield also make her very self-sustaining
Itto is geo xiao or geo raiden. He is supposed to be a hypercarry unit dealing most of damage by himself hence his screentime can't be interrupted. But u forgot itto can regenerates particles on burst mode, one of the aspects that make his 70 burst cost forgiving and don't rely too much on batteries unlike noelle. Her burst mechanics is a way of batterying her.

After more than 3 years, Noelle will finally get a sticker ingame. She was the only character before 4.2 without a sticker while still being in the game from the very beginning. She might be loved by Hoyo by being the only 4* character with 2 hangouts but she never appeared in any events as a key character till 4.1
It's interesting to see that I've seen every character discussed in this series played at least a dozen times in co-op, but I've never seen a sayu main (besides me) in co-op! It would be cool if you did a video on her :O
I really liked Sayu kit, but never even tried to build her. Talking about anemo Sucrose and Venti have me covered for most of the time. And for healing Barbara is my favorite, Kokomi, Bennett and Diona are also options that I use a lot. I had Jean since mid game, use her for a while, but never really enjoyed playing with her, so when Sayu came out and over the time I just coudn't get the energy to build her. Kuki will come out soon, and since the begging of the game I have been waitng for a electro healer, so she already gets a extra point for me.
I noticed something about genshin's enemy difficulty. Obviously, the higher the level of that enemy, more damage it'll deal and more health and dmg reduction. But if there were enemies, let's say higher attack but low health, in return with more energy particles, Geo will definitely shine at most. We need something like this.
Dead enemy means zero dmg enemy. It'd just exacerbate the problem and cause the game more DPS oriented driven by the clock that is your HP. That is to kill the enemies before they kill you. This kind of problem require immortal enemy that deals huge dmg and require a good amount of skill to dodge around their move sets for a set amount of time. Which in turn will please both high skill players and survivability characters. HOWEVER, mihoyo will never make sustainable content that utilize noelle's survivability. Why? Simply because that's a problem with readily available solution. Everyone will just use noelle and call it a day, not generating any profit for mihoyo from gacha pulls. Also most healers in the game already overheal by a fk ton anyway, so there's absolutely zero chance that mihoyo gonna make abyss-like survival challenge. An event maybe, but it wouldn't be sustainable like abyss. If anyone could came up with a gameplay idea that will both use survivability and generate profit for mihoyo, we'd... nvm, they came up with those damned wolves to powercreep abyss instead of making new content. So.. yea, they will never make new sustainable content period.
I mean they might. Geo enemies have higher shields, so they're harder to get through before you do damage it to its actual health. Perhaps when we have more types of enemies closer to being from say Sumeru, something like this might be implemented. I have no idea though. They'd have to be an enemy that could attack from far away, otherwise anybody with a decently built character might take it out ridiculously fast and gain too much energy particles.
@@DCminh-pe9wf I'm sorry for not being clear, but sustainable here means repeatable, like abyssal moon spire that refreshes every 2 weeks, unlike the abyssal corridors which is one time only.
There’s one : Stormterror. It’s Noelle and Barbara’s time to shine as dps (no joke), with Ningguang as support to increase their attack and defense and to provide an additionnel shield against his attacks. Stormterror’s shield breaks on two rounds and the horn breaks in three or four rounds.
Being a free2player, I've found Noelle to be very useful, but I do see why this video is helpful. I've learned the challenging way, that she certainly needs to be built, and have invested a lot in her. Not disappointed either, since I just started playing the game about 3 months ago. Also, I have no 5 stars and not really many people to compare, so that may be a thing as well.
Trust me mate, you will NEVER regret investing in her!!! I’ve been playing literally since Genshin dropped, and Noelle is the ONE character I would NEVER part with! For 80% or more of my Abyss runs I have Zongli on one team and Noelle on the other. They are almost-permanent fixtures. And I don’t see that likely to ever change. Noelle is one of those characters that just keeps improving as the meta and the game evolves and matures, and as you slowly but surely continue to invest in or tweak her build.
I've also just only began playing the game 3 months ago. Noelle main here at C3. Never regretted investing in her. Since I don't plan to whale, she's a blessing to have.
@@eve6875 I’m constantly floored by how highly people rate Diona and then they rate Noelle on the opposite end of the scale for doing essentially all the same things only better! Annnnd… Outside of a shield-only build, Noelle’s shield can out-tank Zhongli’s with the only downside in comparison being it’s uptime. And of course Zhongli doesn’t typically heal. Again: Noelle happens to be one of the best built characters in the whole game - the complete, rounded package… And I find her to be absolutely must-have!
@@Menageryl I agree. The heal that comes with it is the nice touch. Leaves space for adding in another DPS as opposed to carrying someone like Barbara to heal in the worst situations (no offense to the Barbara mains, but it's impractical for me). Plus it creates a second shield when you cast it near another element. For example, near a fire source. It takes that element and makes a second bubble within the first Breastplate shield. Is no one going to mention this? xDD
She is no doubt the best f2p dps in genshin.....ive been playing for less than a month and im at AR 37 comfortable with enough resources and no issue with any enemy or boss....all thanks to noelle
As a Noelle main, I've really enjoyed using her throughout the whole game. I was lucky enough to get her c6 fairly early on so she was very useful until I was able to build more characters and optimize team comps and artifacts. While now I still enjoy using Noelle, once you have another character like Ganyu or Eula, using Noelle again feels like a handicap almost. This hasn't stopped me from triple crowning Noelle though lol
I want her c6 because I like her, but Hoyo always puts her on banners with 5* I don't want to pull. :(( I have her c4 for now, although I play from 1.5. I just hope I'll get her c6 at least next year. :)
Also got Noelle C6 due to super unlucky (lucky?) wishes early on. After redhorn thoe, Eula and Hutao has been sitting on the sidelines since Noelle is so cracked. Raiden is her support 95% of the time unless I need Raiden national for floor 12 😆
@@maraisfan4life517 A C0 Raiden when properly invested will do more damage during her 7 to 9 seconds burst up-time. It should be up to a 1 million damage with The Catch. For Noelle with good investment she will do 40 to 70k per swing with R1 Stonethresher and a dedicated team. In a single target scenario she will need 20 to 25 seconds to achieve the same damage. If you consider Raidens burst downtime and all, Noelle will probably still be behind. But not by a huge margin.
As a Noelle main, i just want one thing - that is for her to be able to generate her own particles. I don't mind the rest of her kit, Noelle is already very strong as a DPS unit / tank. Fun fact, in his latest updated Tier List, IWinToLose (iwtl) put her in S Tier, saying that her power level can compete with C0 Xiao's if built properly.
And his Noelle does even a good chunk less damage than mine given the fact that she isn't his main. But yeah she got invited to that 5* table as the only 4* unit.
I pulled noelle at the game's release and decided I love her, and she's been my main ever since. It's really useful because she is a jack of all trades, because it makes her an all-in-one unit allowing room for other characters. Noelle's my main DPS, healer, shielder, and then I have three other slots for purely sub-DPS. Plus she's great in co-op because her healing reaches basically everyone.
True. I have a Noelle, a Bennett, an EM Kazuha and an EM Lisa. Comfy for exploration and weak world bosses, ok for most domains and hatder world bosses, but not enough for strong bosses etc. Not yet at least. I'm planning on getting a Ganyu and I will probably just swap out Lisa and leave Noelle in. But if I get Zhongli too I will swap Noelle out and wait for her C6 till I use her again...
She's the reason why I started genshin because I saw her picture in pinterest and was interested. Since then I mained her with a R5 whiteblind, triple crowned, and lots of love. Of course she's lacking in some departments but I still love her :>>>
If you’ve triple-crowned her then my suggestion is to save up and shoot for the Redhorn Stonethresher whenever you can. I got it at plain-old-R1 and it pushed her capabilities so over-the-top that she competes with my best 5-stars for damage. Add all her OTHER utility, and, well, it’s a no-brainer.

Well then. A year after this video, and Noelle is buffed via Furina's release, and now she hits like a train car. (I am oddly happy to be a Noelle main now.)
I've been a noelle main since day 1, c6, redhorn, 62:219 ratio, triple crowned. It took me a total of 9 months to get my noelle to where she is now. I can list some problems I've seen with noelle and also give alternatives 1. Noelle needs c6 to be good. In the case that you want to build her as a dps, yes, c6 is great. Without c6, shes still really good. You just have to focus more atk rather than def until you obtain c6. Back when I used bolide set on my noelle who was only c4, she was still able to hit 20k per swing with her burst. If you can't get c6, you can also build her into other roles as she fills her support roles of healing and shielding quite well. 2. Energy problems Yes. This is a huge issue with noelle. Though, theres multiple solutions to this. If you run a full geo team, say, noelle, gorou, yunjin, geomc, noelle shouldn't have an issue if you run favonius on gorou and yunjin. If you don't have a geo battery, geomc/geo traveler is an amazing choice as they can run favonius sword if needed as well. 3. High investment Sure, she may need a bit more investment than other characters to be considered "good" or "on par," but that shouldn't stop you from building her. We all grind for characters anyway, noelle investment will come naturally so long as you continue to work to build her. So, in conclusion, noelle has many cons, but there are also many solutions to those said cons. I'm excited to see what this video brings though
One thing i like about her well roundedness though is that she’s great for coop. Since everyone is on their own, many dps and supports become really frail. The ones who aren’t frail are the healers and shielders, except they don’t do damage. So when I use noelle, I feel great dealing like 25-30k damage every hit while healing everyone else and not having to bother with dodging. Of course, no one realizes that until they’ve actually invested in her though…
being a noelle main since day 1, i have a huge grudge against timed challenges and abyss mage shields in early game, ESPECIALLY IF THE TIMED CHALLENGES HAVE ABYSS MAGES
Noelle and Diona have carried my two squishy catalyst dps-es throughout the whole game; infinite shield, and nigh unkillable. And when I got Albedo, her burst is now constantly at 100% uptime, I’ll swear by her until I die.
I loved noelle from my first day getting her because at early game, I was scared of everything and she kept my characters alive. now even into late game, I'm glad I invested into her because she's capable of doing so much and it's been my pleasure to work on her build. it's satisfying to see her improving on both her defense capabilities and damage. of course what probably made me willing to go that distance is that she's just a top tier waifu. Keke. these videos are entertaining to watch but at the end of the day, this game is very much character > meta, since most content is relatively easy to beat with any character, given the proper investment. you just have to like them enough. and the noelle mains community is a great reminder of that.
The best part of playing these “Why No One Play” characters is I don’t have to fight over who gets to play who in co-op And as an AR59 player, it just adds more challenge since we got nothing to do in the game anyway 🥴
As a Noelle main I am very interested to see what you have to say, I know for me my biggest problem with her is the fact she makes no energy, i can’t really think of anything else that’s problematic, I have an easier time thinking of more than one problem with my other 5 stars than Noelle.
@@hopeatlast9617 A fully build dps Noelle usually have around 75% up time on her shield since you shave off 4-5s thank to her second passive making it 6-8s as best. As comparison it as long as Hu Tao elemental skills CD after it effect expire.
it could've been worded better but this is also out of context lol, as the video mentioned her damage is locked behind having the right everything (team, arts, weapon, cons) whereas most dps can get away with less and still do more dmg. and the "worst" element. also based on the units i have built so far, she's months away of artifact farming to be viable for me, since i have to build 2 or 3 other characters just to use her
@@LC-hd5dc to be fair, I’ve been a noelle main since day one and I don’t even have gorou to use with her. I’ve only ever paired her with albedo for a battery and she does just fine. I didn’t even have to artifact farm for her because I’d say her second best set is gladiators and those come for free via bosses and strongbox. It took me a month just to get a husk set that could match my cracked gladiator one. So, to be clear, even without the stuff you “need” for her to be viable she still never dies and deals 30-50k dmg during her burst.
I’m a noelle main and I don’t see that ever changing. I’m still building her, but her biggest weakness for me is she can’t deal with some timed events. Though the entire team is is able to survive very well.
@@k.o.gpeople1594 geo Traveler solves it. They're arguably one of the best batteries. Noelle-Traveller duo carried me through 11th floor, when geohounds were there with bleed.

I love Mono Geo comps, I find it so much more fun beating enemies then only focusing on elemental reactions. It's just fun hitting enemies with ROCKS O^O
i really like pairing noelle with a character that has some sort of spiral elemental burst, like xiangling, or kaeya to help make up for the DPS. If i use a her shield while activating a spiral elemental burst and have her geo claymore elemental burst also activated she’s unstoppable.
id say one of the perks of noelle is that because she does everything, the rest of the team gains more freedom in character choice, which can boost damage output as a whole compared to using say thoma and barbara, then using a main dps and some character for elemnt applying/CC/whatever. even if you lean in to supporting her a bit with someone like albedo, that just means you can have whoever you fuckin want in the other two slots, its like bennet-kazuha or diona-ganyu. slap on some other supports and thats all you need. one of my best teams in abyss has been noelle, albedo, xiangling, xinqiu, but you could easily use tartag+fischl/beidou, zhong+geo MC if you really dont like dying, hu tao xinqiu if you want to take advantage of noelles passive shield that can activate on hu taos skill use seperately to noelles skill...
Bro, I never pulled for Zhongli BECAUSE I had a well invested Noelle. She carried me hard when I started, and I still use her to this day. I'm a day 1 player, too.
@@deathbird1202 I was planning to pull for Zhongli then I realized that Noelle is actually balance and she has good mechanism, I'm a casual player and I'm not interested in Spiral Abyss, hence if I pull for Zhongli then the game would be too easy and kinda boring because he's too overpowered for me, I want to experience Genshin Impact at fullest without stressing myself on Spiral Abyss.
For someone who struggle to find a good and efficient team for Noelle I can agree with the "Required specific teammates" point. She doesn't really have a good synergy with the rest of the cast other than geo. But even so she still can work well. I'm just glad I have my traveler built as her battery.
@Camilo Vazquez that's the thing, it works but not efficient. Building an efficient team around her is hard because not many character synergize well with her kit and element.
As a Noelle main I agree on this, but she carried my account from the beginning to Ar 40. Even though I already have strong dps characters, I never replaced her and still part of the team as a shielder, emergency healer and damage dealer
As a former noelle main, my only problem with her when I got to higher AR's was the fact that before yun jin, there really wasn't any reliable way for me to get energy particles
At first I didn't like using Noelle because of how slow she felt. But after getting her C6, Noelle has been my go-to character for clearing gimmicky domains since my main teams are purely DPS for Abyss with not too good survivability (don't ask, my comps are bad in general). Most artifacts I get are terrible, but for Noelle specifically, I didn't need to farm long to get a decent set for her Give Noelle a battery and she can singlehandedly sweep waves and become a reliable healer
I only stopped playing Genshin relatively recently, but even then, Noelle was one of my best characters. She's one of the only healers that I was okay with keeping on the field to do her healing because of how powerful she could be, and by the time her burst was over, everyone else was back to full health. Ironically enough, when I first made a Geo team, all of the other characters there were supports for her more than anything else, and that's incredible considering that those units were Zhongli, Albedo, and Ningguang.
She was my first character that I maxed out, and carried me for my first year of playing the game. She is a really fun character but has no interactions with other characters and really niche in a situations where you wanna use her. So when my acc was strong enough to not care what team comps I play, she is rarely in my teams anymore.
Noelle is one of the characters i use most in Genshin. She saved the ass of my entire squad many times since i got her, the week that Genshin launched. All thanks to her shield and healing. Hell, i finished Inazuma a few days ago, and i'm still use her. Noelle, is without a doubt one of my favorite characters in the game.
My favorite characters in genshin are the ones that feel like they are a full character. Noelle has checked that mark for me to the tee. I feel as if the fact that you have to put a lot of time and effort into her is characteristic of her personality, and it's made me enjoy the journey that my Noelle has gone through. Every damage increase feels much more rewarding when you take into account Noelle's personality. She does everything, which is also a large part of her character. She has full kit scaling, meaning everything is based around one major stat as opposed to split scaling. Of course, this comes with C6, but that comes around with your devotion to her, which wraps back to the time an effort thing. She has some deep mechanics that make her satisfying to play, and I will NEVER get tired of the screen shake and sound effect of her swings. I've always loved characters who's gameplay is reminiscent of their lore, another reason why I admire Hu Tao. I don't have her, but her theme being represented in her gameplay is extremely well-thought out. A funeral consultant who walks along the ethereal line of life and death. Thus her gameplay is represented by continuously dropping below and healing above her low hp threshold to maximize her damage, literally teetering back and forth on the line of life and death. I think Noelle is one of those perfectly designed characters in the game, but a lot of people don't want perfectly designed characters, they want meta. I wish more characters had their lore and personality represented in their gameplay.
noelle was my first character, and shes carried me my entire game, even in spiral abyss. Still waiting for the c6 con but shes so reliable and well rounded i can throw her into any team and it works. Def need to pair her with xingqui though for the energy
Noelle was my shield and healer when I was below AR45, I mainly used her as a support so I haven’t seen her full Main dps potential. Even as a full support I think her biggest weakness is her energy recharge and massive cooldown issues. She’s still besto maid in my eyes even if I don’t use her as much anymore.
I’m AR 56 and used Noelle for my team pretty much the whole time. (Still do when I’m not using my other team comps) She’s a complete unit, shield, healing, geo. Everything we could want
Although I agree with pretty much everything said in this video, I still maintain that Noelle is an absolute BEAST!!! She's the only character in the game who is a healer, a shielder, and a DPS all rolled in to one. She will easily carry new players from the early-game, through the mid game, right into the end-game, and even then, if you can get her at C6 and carry on building her, she becomes immense in the end-game too (in the right circumstances). I'll admit, I don't use her all that much anymore (I have about 15 5-star characters to choose from now, and a ton of well built 4-stars lol) but every now and then I'll find a situation that calls for Noelle, and I'm always surprised at how much of a beast she actually is (especially in an all-Geo team). Also, the great thing about Noelle is that, artifacts that you would normally deem 'rubbish' for most other characters (DEF stat ones) are usually amazing for Noelle, so you can basically build her really easily using just the 'scraps' form other characters.
*Bro i literally started building my Noelle a few weeks ago xD* She's is currently lvl80/90, talents 8/8/8 and a Whitebland lvl80/90. All I need are better Husk arts. Right now shes 54%c.rate 111%c.dmg so there's plenty of improvement left🛐

Semantics of "why no one plays" essentially (i.e. the implication is that the unit has fatal flaws). It's like a feminist meaning something different when they say misandrist statements, saying they aren't sexist. Also there are characters that are kinda worse than her, so I'm genuinely surprised
"When it comes to gacha games, metas are formulated on the basis of specialization." *cries in Qiqi main* I personally believe that a good solution to the healer/tank problem is a more expanded multiplayer. If we could get a multiplayer abyss or a multiplayer version of the rogue like event, people would want a healer and or a tank on their team and I think that will get people to care besides Mihoyo just increasing enemy damage output.
Noelle is my “F*** it character”. When I’m having a hard time with a challenge (which is so rare it almost never happens) or I just don’t want to think, I use Noelle. Kill, defend, and heal. One stop shop for straightforward play. Love it.
I built Noelle just bc I loved her character and the fact that I kept getting Husk artifacts instead of the healing one. And all I can say is now I can't die with Kokomi + Noelle.

Honestly 90% of the reason I love her is that her playstyle is really satisfying (for a reason I can't describe). That animation when she does the stance and her shield pops on is just great.
Let us not igonore the fact that she had 4 to 5 buffs recently. She got red horn, husk of opulant dreams and 2 dedicated supports for her who are yunjin and gorou. She is much more viable that in 1.0.
You're ignoring the fact that most other characters also got buffs or some sorts, especially elemental comps with RAIDEN and kazuha, so no, in reality she is actually worse in terms of viability compared to 1.0
@@kiuhh1118 if you use Noelle with gladiator set and white blind and then switch to red horn and husk set you will know what I'm talking about. The difference is so huge. Yunjin will change her damage so much and with gorou it almost doubles. You say characters that we're good in 1.0 are more viable because of raiden or at least some of them. That's true but having dedicated weopen and support and artifact is kinda different in terms of impact level. Noelle is still A tier at best and in peak condition. So don't take it too seriously anyways.

Noelle was my Zhongli replacement when I didn't have Zhongli, and now she's my Itto replacement after I pulled Zhongli. I have Redhorn, farmed 4p Husk and no Itto. The anniversary web event said Noelle was my most played character in domains.
As a noelle main, she is amazing in boss rush content, but we haven’t had that for a few updates. Also, her ER sucks ass. Need a dedicated team comp, but mono geo is amazing on her.
I main Noelle, and I think that idea you were getting to at the end is probably a big factor in why I like her and why others don't. Like you said, she is a generalist; she is decent at a lot of things, even if it takes some investment. While I can't speak for other Noelle mains, I will say that I actually prefer this generalist approach. I like having a reliable fighter who works in most situations, so for me, that investment is worth it. Furthermore, I actually don't mind the grind as much as a lot of other players seem to, so that investment is effectively lower for me personally.
@@yashkedia6087 I am speculating here but likely because of the Bell's shield helps to give an extra shield since her skill's cooldown is very long? Tho I do agree, I got R1 20 whiteblind for her early on so never used the bell even at low AR
As a Noelle appreciator as well, please stop using the Bell XD. Just run WhiteBlind instead. Its easier to obtain and it instantly makes her damage even better as well as provide a nice defense % substat. XD the bell is such a meme weapon.
As a noelle DPS enthousiast, Yes, Most people will find her not being a specialist a bad thing, but as someone who enjoy the geo gamestyle, her being able to shield, heal, deal good dmg and not loosing her ult between swaps is all I ever wanted.
As a typical gamer like you described, she suits my playstyle perfectly - I'm lazy so I don't want to dodge and Noelle let's me tank damage and just stand there and swing away. I had invested into her since the start since I had no idea how the game worked back then, recently got her to C6 and she's never really left my team other than when I'm bored and want to mess around with other team comps. The only other shielders I have are Diona and Ninguang, but I haven't built Diona yet. I have a 2pc Noblesse and 2 pc Berserker set on her and I managed to get Redhorn Stonethresher for her and I see her hit for 2k average which isn't bad since that's when she's healing the team. E then Q then spin to win as they say. She's not meta but I don't play meta and I like her personality and style and she was the first to reach level 90, ahead of Eula. Just my 2 cents worth 😁
I have such a soft spot for her. She’ll always be my first 4* pull. As with a lot of Genshin characters they all have a their strengths and weaknesses, so using the right character/s for the right content makes all the difference. I discovered when farming up ascension mats for Albedo that Noelle’s true strength lies in absolutely obliterating the annoying as all hell Geo Hypostasis. Even at lvl 50 she bullies that thing. She may not get a lot of time on my roster out in the world, but when it’s time to bully the Geo Hypostasis, I now always look forward to it 😁 And if HoYo had that beast in the Abyss rotations you can bet your best 5* she’d be in a lot more players’ Abyss rosters and more built out.
I got c6 noelle when I tried to get zhongli last year. She was my first c6 character. I decided to build her and she carried me throughout my adventures. Even with the release of azdaha, I used her to carry players on co-op. I used to play weekly bosses on co-op and the majority of them just use Main DPS characters. Noelle filled up the role as a healer, tank, and a damage dealer at the same time. Too bad the spiral abyss completion is measured as a time trial challenge so her usage rate is really low. I really like her character design and her personality in the game.
To everyone complaining about Noelle not deserving a "Why noone plays": Sure, the usage for no character is zero. However, the statistics show that while she's the most popular amongst the 4star selfish DPS, her usage is still really low when compared to 4star meta DPS and 5stars not named Diluc, Keqing, Aloy and Qiqi. Keep in mind that personal experience barely ever shows the whole picture, and that the title is not meant to be taken THAT literally.
If he ever makes a "Why no one uses Diluc" i'll rant. Yes, Hu Tao is better, we all know that but Diluc still gets the job done when it comes to Pyro DPS.

I'm just surprised he went for her and not Thoma. No really...a literal split-scaler done wrong vs a relatively balanced unit locked behind constellations, and he went with the latter. The semantics of the title is throwing me off even though I would probably agree with what he'd say. It's really way better if he worded it differently. "Why no one plays" usually heavily implies trash-tier in gaming.
The mistake i see every single time when people use Geo of Corruption is that they never put Noelle with Yunjin. Do you realize Yunjin's kit compliments Noelle and helps carry the rest of them team.
I actually used Noelle as my main because not only is she charming and strong af (she swings a claymore like it’s nothing) her healing and shield has saved me a BUNCH of times. She’s attached to a lot of good memories I had playing the game.
When I first started playing Noelle it was 100% as a Shielder and Healer. I mostly used her in the cases where I would use Hu Tao and the like because I didn’t have Zhongli. But after giving her a solid chance at being a DPS, she’s loads of fun to play and is very self sustaining with her own healing. I do think that the cooldown on her shield is pretty massive but as long as you’re dealing damage the cooldown actually shortens every 4 hits. Either way I just got excited to share. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about her.
As a long time Noelle main, thank you so much, Vars. I appreciate your very honest analysis, and you brought up so many good points. I found that Noelle might not be the most viable option, but it is a joy that I can use her on my team. It was a very nice adventure since starting out. 👍
By the way, investment, the thing is, she is one of the most efficient ones... -You get unwanted Husk artifacts while farming your clam sets for your healers so artifacts for her come for free. -You also get Gladiators from the strongbox which is an equally good set for her and you'll inevitably have some that roll DEF. -You get a unit with an element that counters most enemies so you can have fewer DPS units raised. She can kill pretty much everything, including shielded enemies while DPS of other elements are less universal. -You actually can get away with raising fewer healers on your account because Noelle is a healer while also being a good DPS so her team doesn't need one. So basically her artifacts come for free and she does the job of 2-3 units for the price of one. That's about as good as it can get for investment. The only issue is getting her C6 which is extremely hard because she is a 4* unit so there are no guarantees and you can't pull for her if the banner 5* is not something you want.
Noelle is in the shop often for starglitter or whatever it’s called. The shop only has old original characters after all, so it’s easier to get her c6 after some time.
You do NOT want Clam on anyone other than Qiqi. Barbara and Kokomi are both HP scaled so they want Millelith. Bennett also need hp but he ALSO need ATK for his ult. Jean and Sayu need atk and VV.
@@asianjackass237 bennett's atk boosting comes from his base atk stat, which is only influenced by his weapon's base atk. this actually frees up his sands, cup, and hat for hp/hp/helaing. also it can depend on if you want your healer to help with dps. it works especially well with off-field heals-over-time kinda heals like qiqi, jean, barbara, bennett, etc. it's obviously not their BiS, but they aren't bad by any stretch (as long as you get good stats on artifacts ofc)

Excited for this video! Noelle carried me when I was in low AR. She has an all-around kit but everything in it is lacking. But she’s still my best girl! ❤️
I've had Noelle on my team since I got her and man, the only time I removed her was when I got Barbara and that was only like, a week. Her shield and healing have absolutely helped me out a lot. I still need a lot more Noelles to get C6, but so far I've loved using her.
Back when the abyss favours geo, Noelle + Redhorn comfortably smashed through abyss 12. Not that I'd recommend building her over others, but she can definitely carry you when the conditions are right.
Noelle is like my team mom. When the other three children get hurt, the Fatui tremble in fear when I bring her out. In all seriousness, I love Noelle for a lot of reasons. Her voice acting, her giant sword, her design looking more battle-ready than a lot of the other female units (despite being in a maid dress). I didn’t even consider pulling on Zhongli’s banner recently because I thought “I already have a level 70 geo shield and if he makes everyone invincible I’ll get bored and also terrible at dodging.” Nothing against the ceo of geo, of course

One thing I would like to mention is that you never really talked about gorou and yunjin, Noelle is the only character that uses both so in a way she kind of double dips on gorous def buff. Serpent spine is another great choice. Also personally I don't really get what you mean by the she's a normal person thing her strength and want to help others is kind of outlandish. Character design wise I agree it's more of an opinion.
Yeah, I accidentally stumbled into this combination and if you add in a tenacity user (ZL, Albedo) it's ridiculous. This is the one edge she has over Itto that brings her close to his DPS viability at C6. Itto is definitely more "comfortable" because you really just need Gorou at that point and free up slots for crowd control, etc. But thank god for Noelle's range you almost don't need CC... I feel it's pretty interesting how she's gotten some indirect buffs recently.

Noelle really shines in co op where you only have one character. Since she does everything it's like you still have a team of characters and she can carry weak teams through fights since she never dies.

Definitely need to find the right balance for ER Efficiency. I used Favonius Greatsword and found my Ult up 24/7 which is nice. You do miss out on damage unfortunately.

Because Noelle is canonically so strong she had to have a special sword made because she straight up broke the other ones because they couldn't take the stress. She threw an entire burning cart into a nearby lake and then singlehandedly pulled out the cart and its cargo once extinguished. Jean and the Knights went out of their way to make sure Noelle had other things to keep her busy during the whole Stormterror incident lol

Her hangout is inspired by one punch man, when she hitted stuff to mine some rocks she caused earthquake.. she casually lifts full bookcases in library on daily basis with one hand and doesn't drop a single book to clean with another hand under them. By physical strenght only character on par with her would be maybe Shenhe, but if you include one punch man trivia i would say Noelle might far exceed everything for lolz.

Do you know what is the most sad thing about the last fact you said (jean keeping her busy). That Jean does this shit instead of... you know... scholaring Noelle or hire someone to scholar her. It is in her best interest to have good and reliable knights in her ranks. And by teaching Noelle how to knight properly she would get herself one of the best knights out there. But Jean is like Hoyovers. Keeps ignoring Noelle and people tend to blame it on Noelle that she is not worthy because that and that. While I agree that Noelle has fair share of flaws which should definitely prevent her from being Knight, fact that everyone except Noelle herself leaves this as it is, is just unreal. Why on earth would you keep individual "safe" when she just needs some nudges in right way in order to be actually a good Knight? Whole thing around no one giving two shits about Noelle's effort (no, not even Jean. She made the salute for Noelle when she saw her, but that is literally it. Everything else she does around Noelle is just ignorance and outright disrespect, change my mind) is so unbelievably inconsistent and unreal.
Noelle main here; Excited to see what you have to say! She’s certainly got some solid attributes, but the fact that she’s a main DPS four star really does hold her back at times. Still love my little combat maid though!
Edit: Great video! I think one thing it would have been good to address in great detail is why exactly Noelle basically is forced to be a main to be a main DPS rather than support. I’ve seen so many people argue that Noelle is a great healer and shielder, but they seem to fail to realize that these traits are only at the best when Noelle is on the field and swinging as much as possible (appropriate for a maid who does everything herself, I might add). If you are using Noelle JUST for her shields, use Diona or Zhongli instead. For heals, just use Barbara or Koko.

Noelle is literally my favorite character, not only because she was the first one i pulled, but because i like every aspect of hers. Her design is beautiful, her voice actresses in all languages do a great job, her personality is just pleasant, her backstory as well, and her playstyle is so fun.
I just recently got her 6th constellation, and i can finally dedicate myself to making her my main dps, she is a one woman army and i love her for it

I get that this series is from the perspective of a veteran whale, but Noelle was a life saver in the early to mid game. She deals ok damage but can take a beating while healing the rest of your team. A very useful character to have for newer f2p players, especially when trying to kill the bosses. I can't picture trying to kill the Primo Geovishap earlier in the game without her.
Oh god yes, heck even geo cube with her claymore and shield was amazing. Some people in coop were confused why I brought a geo character to the boss. I didn't even use her burst, just Normal Attacks and shield. Neglected for too long. Now that I'm farming friendship for her..rekindled my love for the maid and wanna build her after I finish raising my sucrose to 80/90. She has ok hush/maiden artifacts. Just need to level them while I raise her to 80/90

If She is being worst due to artifact, then basically every character is the worst at that same point.

Noelle team got 3 slot, 3 chance to be improve thank to being also a healer herself. And can accomodate any kind of rotation thank to the ability to switch mid Q. Itto cant even reset Gorou buff after 10 second

Honestly surprised I didn’t hear a portion of the video dedicated to what I consider to be her worst flaw (as someone who has dedicated time and resources into make Noelle one pf the best dmg dealers): Her Energy.
Noelle has literally everything you want in a character, but her particle generation is non existent outside of burst mode. She needs to be paired with another Geo Battery in order to properly keep her burst up. Besides that, she has proven to be incredible
I have to agree. I invested for a no-downtime build on her and it was quite the investment. It could be a deal breaker if she ends her Q without energy to spare
I think that is a general content creator problem. A lot of CC (not TC or people who are close to TC) just assume you get the Burst without knowing what the character needs to get the Burst back. "ER doesn't give higher numbers so it can't be a damage increase". That's what i think a lot of CC think. They don't look at ER. They sometimes know that a character has enegy issues but they don't really care about it. Because ER/batteries doesn't give more damage. And jf they jsut use Raiden as battery. Maybe I'm too pessimistic.

@@detlefswelt4546 She is definitely not among the best damage dealers, but she is amazing for coop because of her utility. She does decent damage, around 30k per swing, heals, gives shields, and is practically unkillable. She's often the last one standing, and can carry the whole team.

C6 noelle with c4 gorou can kill everything in abyss easily. I think that her dps is strongly denied by the community.
Yeah it's pretty easy to 36* the Abyss with just those two on a team for one side. I just add Zhongli for the resistance shred and that bonus from Gorou's C6. The 4th slot can be anyone. If I have Morgana on one side I'll put Raiden in that slot. Otherwise a nice CC user like Sucrose or Kazuha works just well. I actually prefer Sucrose for TTDS.

Yeah, like I didn't even farm for husk, just gave her Serpent Spine and 4 pc glad. She carries 1 side of the abyss and 3 stars all the opponents there easily. Which is why I can't ever get Itto. The claim that Itto does more damage may be true.. but by how much really? And getting Itto would also mean I would need a healer. so...
I'd argue Noelle is one of the best designed characters in the game. Yes, she's not a broken meta character, but she doesn't need to be. She's designed to be a crutch character for new players, offering shields, healing, and overworld utility since she's a claymore user. Even in lategame with her high HP and DEF she's still a brick wall that can carry players through any non-timed content via sheer survivability. She's not part of 36 star spiral abyss meta comps, but she does a great job as an anchor character casual players can always rely on.
I think it's not true. New players don't have the tools to recharge Noelle's ult, as she generates no energy and new players don't have many good artefacts, Favonius weapons or other Geo characters. If Noelle doesn't ult, F. In the healing department, new players got Bárbara, a hydro character.
She'd be perfectly designed if she generated energy, a bit at least.

1: The overworld give more then enough energy for all of the early game characters.
2: The early overworld was so easy you could just beat it with the blue weapon you can pick up off chest and +0 of whatever artifacts set and stats. The overworld only become a problem when AR45 because all enemy is level 80 above.
3: Noelle heal come from her elemental skill and not burst.
4: People aren't braindead.
@@Aibadenshi Well, let's see... The overworld gives many energy and enemies die rapidly. OK, TRUE, so then what's the point on using Noelle? If enemies die rapidly, the healing is not really that needed, but even if it was, she can't heal if she does not attack, but as it's so easy, you might kill the enemies so fast that the healing is conditional and inconsistent (50% chance while she shielded).
Barbara is free too and she heals unconditionally, no need for energy or attacking, and more or less the same cd (thinking that Noelle does not have the second passive which reduces the cd of her shield, because we're in early game), but she's off field, and hydro, which can help you with many pyro enemies in the overworld and the hydro element itself is incredibly good. You could think Noelle is helpful with ores and enemies with geo shields. Well, most times is possible to plunge attack to get the ores and overcharge for the geo shields, but yes, in that case Noelle's really useful, that's true.
And also, if enemies are weak, then you'd just kill them fast with any char, so I don't see why is SPECIFICALLY Noelle good for starters following your reasoning. She offers low damage, low healing (even though it might not be needed), low shield duration and she ain't that useful in the open world... I think you'd lose more time using her instead of another char in battle and change to her when there are ores around. Just my opinion, tho.
PDD: What I meant with the thing that if Noelle does not ult, F, was that, if she doesn't ult, she has no damage at all and she'd be even more uncomfy to use, I wasn't refering to the healing.

@@Huvale because you just cannot kill Noelle, ever. You can definitely kill barbra, she can be interrupted and 100-0 in a combo much more easily than Noelle.
Noelle can only reasonably be killed if enemies makes an huge combo in the few second her shield is down, or in very edge cases. And on top of that, she ia the one shielder that can tank rifthound efdortlessly.
She won't kill things fast, but she can beat things that are too dangeroua for evwrt other character. Things like the Inazuma powerspike or WR increases are much less lethal if you have even just a moderately built Noelle that can outlast everything.

Also, Barbara is used 2s in a rotation, so if she gets interrupted, it's because the player is not switching correctly... If you talk about frozen state, OK, it's a pass, Barbara is uncomfy in that case.
If you use her as a enabler, it'd be more uncomfy, true, but generally you don't.
About rifthounds, you need a very well invested Noelle to heal your party and is still VERY inconsistent, as the wolves move erratically, and you're bound not to hit many attacks with Noelle... I disagree, Barbara would still be more useful against those monsters. Another thing, I'm not really sure about this, but is considered Inazuma early game or early-mid? I don't know, as I was already AR 55 or so when Inazuma came out. I'd say Inazuma is mid game or mid-late, not early. And also, is highly likely that by that point you have already got better characters to cover the healer or shielder role... I still think Noelle would just delay your progress in most cases.
To be honest, not only would I excuse the high level of investment needed for Noelle, I would actually defend it as a unique way of incorporating character lore into gameplay. you mentioned before at about 2:42 you mention she has the near super natural ability to be anywhere at once. when you do her hangout event, she mentions that she does the One Punch Man routine (100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and "running two laps around Mondstadt"). She isn't everywhere because she can teleport like Xiao or something. she has to physically run to every place she needs to be, whether it's on the streets of Mondstadt, the halls of the knights of Favonius HQ, or even somewhere outside the city. not to mention that she'll go at the drop of a hat, too. There's a story about how Noelle saved someone from Dragonspine, but ending up getting bedridden with a high fever for 3 days straight, as well as Kaeya having to find any and everything to keep her from going after D'valin during the Stormterror Incident.
Noelle is incredibly and admirably devoted to her work, and has amazing potential at the end of that road. Much like in her backstory and character, if the player works hard enough grinding for levels, talent books, artifacts, weapons, etc., they too can unlock that potential. I current have a c6 triple crowned Noelle with pretty good artifacts, and recently I got Redhorn for her (thank fucking god). I also got Skyward Harp just before Itto's banner, so I was trying to level both 5* weapons up. Even with a level 50 weapon, Noelle, with max stacks on Husk and buffs from teammates like Gorou, Yun Jin, and 4pc Noblesse buff, still hits for 20K per swing.
Remember, the worst characters are the ones you never build. I can state confidently from experience that Noelle is VERY worth trying out, especially if you have any Def% pieces or spare claymore billets lying around.
(i'm sorry that i'm not at all sorry about the 20 page essay of a comment. i just thought the connection between lore and gameplay was very interestingly done, even if it backfired and turned people away from her)
imo even Itto requires some real investement to compete with other dps and the reason isn't his numbers or his kit, but his element. not having access to reactions is really a big struggle you can solve only with perfect artifacts and good weapons.

tip: build her as a dps not a healer, since she needs to be on field to heal you might aswell deal damage while healing

Objectively, Noelle right now is the only "Real" tank in the game right now to me.
Yes. There are other shielder that can consider to be a tank, but most of their utilities is just cast shield and make everyone the tank while Noelle shield is most effective and tankyest when it on her and not others character (besides from A1 passive) making her primary shield a very selfish one since the majority of it toughest come from Noelle own Def scaling, one is increasing it health with Def and others one is reducing DMG taking with said Def stats.

I agree 100% This rings especially when considering that her defensive capabilities are maximized only when she is on-field since that's when she heals and she can also maintain better uptime with on her shield. I'm yet to see a character as flexible as Noelle since she can run with only buffers and sub-dps as she negates the need for a healer and on-field dps
Tank is a hard word to use since Genshin doesn't have a solid aggro system (especially because is a singleplayer one character active at time game for most parts), I personally like to use the word Defender to refer to defensive focused character, I use it in Genshin and Warframe as well.

As someone who plays noelle I think she’s really balanced rn in genshin - she is a viable character for those that want to main her and is relatively easy to build. At the same time she’s not must-pull for broken character nor is universally versatile and a must-build character. And her character design is rlly nice.
Yea I like that she is balanced and not useless like Xinyan, but sadly in gacha game like Genshin being balanced is not good enough since you have to compete with broken character and most people would always use the most efficient character first. Noelle main are Noelle main because we love her and not because she is broken like Ganyu or Kazuha

@@LawrenceVengeance she is useless, her buff is not worth the time and effort to use especially cuz of her element is at odds with superconduct, she also take up precious spot. Eula aside, Razor is not a top tier character so he need all of the advantage to beat abyss so adding mediocre teammate is not an option. Rosaria or Kaeya is much more beneficial. Then the rest is healer/shielder/sub dps and yes she could do that role but not well.
Her shield and sub DPS suck so using her as a support is more of a waifu reason than any practical use. Xinyan C6 is not the worst as she deal an okay damage with her charge attack but that's about it. She is like Qiqi where there is always a better option in every scenario
Noelle is in similar position on 1.1 but Geo receive so many buff and element specific character buffer like Gorou, she is also compatible with Yunjin as well as a new Husk and Redhorn. She basically receive 5 times buff since release making her comparable to a 5 star DPS at C6 despite able to be a tank and healer (unfortunately a lot of team can beat abyss without healer so her advantage is kinda useless). Between the two, Noelle is of course better but Noelle is also extremely underrated in a game state where Redhorn, Husk and Gorou all exist.
@Waveshocker Sigma Xinyan's shield pulse and multi pyro hit burst cleanse enemies of cryo/electro auras, you need something like... idk, Yae and Kaeya to keep it going but it's very scuffed compared to just using Bennett, Yunjin and Zhongli.
I think she's one of the characters that has been the most indirectly buffed since release. There was 1.2 with Albedo (probably the best battery for her), 1.3 with geo resonance and Zhongli buffs, the Itto patch (Gorou, Redhorn, Husk), and also Yunjin. She went from among the worst characters to a very very solid dps. Still agree with most of your points though.
EDIT: Also would you be interested in doing Kaeya? I main him and would be interested in seeing what makes him worse than the other 4-star cryo supports (Diona, Rosaria).
1 word: FALSE AOE. Unlike Diona and Rosa with an actual AOE field, Kaeya "aoe" can straight up MISS.

There is one advantage to Noelle you didn't mention: she's one of the few characters in the game that actually maintains her burst/infusion when switching out. This is something that not even Itto can do, which makes her much easier to use and switch to other characters if needed. Although I actually own both Noelle and Itto, I tend to prefer using the former. She's significantly simpler in design compared to Itto, which means spending a lot less brainpower and energy during combat when you don't really feel like it. Compared to Noelle, Itto has to manage stacks and can't switch out of burst, which are concerns not present for Noelle. Her healing and shield also make her very self-sustaining
Itto is geo xiao or geo raiden. He is supposed to be a hypercarry unit dealing most of damage by himself hence his screentime can't be interrupted. But u forgot itto can regenerates particles on burst mode, one of the aspects that make his 70 burst cost forgiving and don't rely too much on batteries unlike noelle. Her burst mechanics is a way of batterying her.

After more than 3 years, Noelle will finally get a sticker ingame. She was the only character before 4.2 without a sticker while still being in the game from the very beginning.
She might be loved by Hoyo by being the only 4* character with 2 hangouts but she never appeared in any events as a key character till 4.1
It's interesting to see that I've seen every character discussed in this series played at least a dozen times in co-op, but I've never seen a sayu main (besides me) in co-op! It would be cool if you did a video on her :O

I really liked Sayu kit, but never even tried to build her. Talking about anemo Sucrose and Venti have me covered for most of the time. And for healing Barbara is my favorite, Kokomi, Bennett and Diona are also options that I use a lot. I had Jean since mid game, use her for a while, but never really enjoyed playing with her, so when Sayu came out and over the time I just coudn't get the energy to build her. Kuki will come out soon, and since the begging of the game I have been waitng for a electro healer, so she already gets a extra point for me.
I noticed something about genshin's enemy difficulty. Obviously, the higher the level of that enemy, more damage it'll deal and more health and dmg reduction. But if there were enemies, let's say higher attack but low health, in return with more energy particles, Geo will definitely shine at most. We need something like this.

Dead enemy means zero dmg enemy. It'd just exacerbate the problem and cause the game more DPS oriented driven by the clock that is your HP. That is to kill the enemies before they kill you.
This kind of problem require immortal enemy that deals huge dmg and require a good amount of skill to dodge around their move sets for a set amount of time. Which in turn will please both high skill players and survivability characters.
HOWEVER, mihoyo will never make sustainable content that utilize noelle's survivability.
Why? Simply because that's a problem with readily available solution. Everyone will just use noelle and call it a day, not generating any profit for mihoyo from gacha pulls. Also most healers in the game already overheal by a fk ton anyway, so there's absolutely zero chance that mihoyo gonna make abyss-like survival challenge. An event maybe, but it wouldn't be sustainable like abyss. If anyone could came up with a gameplay idea that will both use survivability and generate profit for mihoyo, we'd... nvm, they came up with those damned wolves to powercreep abyss instead of making new content. So.. yea, they will never make new sustainable content period.
I mean they might. Geo enemies have higher shields, so they're harder to get through before you do damage it to its actual health. Perhaps when we have more types of enemies closer to being from say Sumeru, something like this might be implemented. I have no idea though. They'd have to be an enemy that could attack from far away, otherwise anybody with a decently built character might take it out ridiculously fast and gain too much energy particles.

There’s one : Stormterror. It’s Noelle and Barbara’s time to shine as dps (no joke), with Ningguang as support to increase their attack and defense and to provide an additionnel shield against his attacks.
Stormterror’s shield breaks on two rounds and the horn breaks in three or four rounds.
Being a free2player, I've found Noelle to be very useful, but I do see why this video is helpful. I've learned the challenging way, that she certainly needs to be built, and have invested a lot in her. Not disappointed either, since I just started playing the game about 3 months ago. Also, I have no 5 stars and not really many people to compare, so that may be a thing as well.

I’ve been playing literally since Genshin dropped, and Noelle is the ONE character I would NEVER part with!
For 80% or more of my Abyss runs I have Zongli on one team and Noelle on the other. They are almost-permanent fixtures. And I don’t see that likely to ever change.
Noelle is one of those characters that just keeps improving as the meta and the game evolves and matures, and as you slowly but surely continue to invest in or tweak her build.
I've also just only began playing the game 3 months ago. Noelle main here at C3. Never regretted investing in her. Since I don't plan to whale, she's a blessing to have.

Annnnd… Outside of a shield-only build, Noelle’s shield can out-tank Zhongli’s with the only downside in comparison being it’s uptime.
And of course Zhongli doesn’t typically heal.
Again: Noelle happens to be one of the best built characters in the whole game - the complete, rounded package… And I find her to be absolutely must-have!
@@Menageryl I agree. The heal that comes with it is the nice touch. Leaves space for adding in another DPS as opposed to carrying someone like Barbara to heal in the worst situations (no offense to the Barbara mains, but it's impractical for me). Plus it creates a second shield when you cast it near another element. For example, near a fire source. It takes that element and makes a second bubble within the first Breastplate shield. Is no one going to mention this? xDD
She is no doubt the best f2p dps in genshin.....ive been playing for less than a month and im at AR 37 comfortable with enough resources and no issue with any enemy or boss....all thanks to noelle
As a Noelle main, I've really enjoyed using her throughout the whole game. I was lucky enough to get her c6 fairly early on so she was very useful until I was able to build more characters and optimize team comps and artifacts. While now I still enjoy using Noelle, once you have another character like Ganyu or Eula, using Noelle again feels like a handicap almost. This hasn't stopped me from triple crowning Noelle though lol
I want her c6 because I like her, but Hoyo always puts her on banners with 5* I don't want to pull. :(( I have her c4 for now, although I play from 1.5. I just hope I'll get her c6 at least next year. :)
Also got Noelle C6 due to super unlucky (lucky?) wishes early on. After redhorn thoe, Eula and Hutao has been sitting on the sidelines since Noelle is so cracked. Raiden is her support 95% of the time unless I need Raiden national for floor 12 😆

@@maraisfan4life517 A C0 Raiden when properly invested will do more damage during her 7 to 9 seconds burst up-time. It should be up to a 1 million damage with The Catch. For Noelle with good investment she will do 40 to 70k per swing with R1 Stonethresher and a dedicated team. In a single target scenario she will need 20 to 25 seconds to achieve the same damage. If you consider Raidens burst downtime and all, Noelle will probably still be behind. But not by a huge margin.
As a Noelle main, i just want one thing - that is for her to be able to generate her own particles. I don't mind the rest of her kit, Noelle is already very strong as a DPS unit / tank. Fun fact, in his latest updated Tier List, IWinToLose (iwtl) put her in S Tier, saying that her power level can compete with C0 Xiao's if built properly.
And his Noelle does even a good chunk less damage than mine given the fact that she isn't his main. But yeah she got invited to that 5* table as the only 4* unit.
Pair her with other geo unit
I pulled noelle at the game's release and decided I love her, and she's been my main ever since. It's really useful because she is a jack of all trades, because it makes her an all-in-one unit allowing room for other characters. Noelle's my main DPS, healer, shielder, and then I have three other slots for purely sub-DPS. Plus she's great in co-op because her healing reaches basically everyone.
True. I have a Noelle, a Bennett, an EM Kazuha and an EM Lisa. Comfy for exploration and weak world bosses, ok for most domains and hatder world bosses, but not enough for strong bosses etc. Not yet at least.
I'm planning on getting a Ganyu and I will probably just swap out Lisa and leave Noelle in. But if I get Zhongli too I will swap Noelle out and wait for her C6 till I use her again...
She's the reason why I started genshin because I saw her picture in pinterest and was interested. Since then I mained her with a R5 whiteblind, triple crowned, and lots of love. Of course she's lacking in some departments but I still love her :>>>
If you’ve triple-crowned her then my suggestion is to save up and shoot for the Redhorn Stonethresher whenever you can.
I got it at plain-old-R1 and it pushed her capabilities so over-the-top that she competes with my best 5-stars for damage. Add all her OTHER utility, and, well, it’s a no-brainer.

I've been a noelle main since day 1, c6, redhorn, 62:219 ratio, triple crowned. It took me a total of 9 months to get my noelle to where she is now.
I can list some problems I've seen with noelle and also give alternatives
1. Noelle needs c6 to be good.
In the case that you want to build her as a dps, yes, c6 is great. Without c6, shes still really good. You just have to focus more atk rather than def until you obtain c6. Back when I used bolide set on my noelle who was only c4, she was still able to hit 20k per swing with her burst. If you can't get c6, you can also build her into other roles as she fills her support roles of healing and shielding quite well.
2. Energy problems
Yes. This is a huge issue with noelle. Though, theres multiple solutions to this. If you run a full geo team, say, noelle, gorou, yunjin, geomc, noelle shouldn't have an issue if you run favonius on gorou and yunjin. If you don't have a geo battery, geomc/geo traveler is an amazing choice as they can run favonius sword if needed as well.
3. High investment
Sure, she may need a bit more investment than other characters to be considered "good" or "on par," but that shouldn't stop you from building her. We all grind for characters anyway, noelle investment will come naturally so long as you continue to work to build her.
So, in conclusion, noelle has many cons, but there are also many solutions to those said cons. I'm excited to see what this video brings though

One thing i like about her well roundedness though is that she’s great for coop. Since everyone is on their own, many dps and supports become really frail. The ones who aren’t frail are the healers and shielders, except they don’t do damage. So when I use noelle, I feel great dealing like 25-30k damage every hit while healing everyone else and not having to bother with dodging. Of course, no one realizes that until they’ve actually invested in her though…

being a noelle main since day 1, i have a huge grudge against timed challenges and abyss mage shields in early game, ESPECIALLY IF THE TIMED CHALLENGES HAVE ABYSS MAGES
Noelle and Diona have carried my two squishy catalyst dps-es throughout the whole game; infinite shield, and nigh unkillable. And when I got Albedo, her burst is now constantly at 100% uptime, I’ll swear by her until I die.
I loved noelle from my first day getting her because at early game, I was scared of everything and she kept my characters alive. now even into late game, I'm glad I invested into her because she's capable of doing so much and it's been my pleasure to work on her build. it's satisfying to see her improving on both her defense capabilities and damage. of course what probably made me willing to go that distance is that she's just a top tier waifu. Keke. these videos are entertaining to watch but at the end of the day, this game is very much character > meta, since most content is relatively easy to beat with any character, given the proper investment. you just have to like them enough. and the noelle mains community is a great reminder of that.

As a Noelle main I am very interested to see what you have to say, I know for me my biggest problem with her is the fact she makes no energy, i can’t really think of anything else that’s problematic, I have an easier time thinking of more than one problem with my other 5 stars than Noelle.
Don't forget the long CD, that REALLY hold her back too imo.

@@LC-hd5dc to be fair, I’ve been a noelle main since day one and I don’t even have gorou to use with her. I’ve only ever paired her with albedo for a battery and she does just fine. I didn’t even have to artifact farm for her because I’d say her second best set is gladiators and those come for free via bosses and strongbox. It took me a month just to get a husk set that could match my cracked gladiator one.
So, to be clear, even without the stuff you “need” for her to be viable she still never dies and deals 30-50k dmg during her burst.
I’m a noelle main and I don’t see that ever changing. I’m still building her, but her biggest weakness for me is she can’t deal with some timed events. Though the entire team is is able to survive very well.

i really like pairing noelle with a character that has some sort of spiral elemental burst, like xiangling, or kaeya to help make up for the DPS. If i use a her shield while activating a spiral elemental burst and have her geo claymore elemental burst also activated she’s unstoppable.
id say one of the perks of noelle is that because she does everything, the rest of the team gains more freedom in character choice, which can boost damage output as a whole compared to using say thoma and barbara, then using a main dps and some character for elemnt applying/CC/whatever. even if you lean in to supporting her a bit with someone like albedo, that just means you can have whoever you fuckin want in the other two slots, its like bennet-kazuha or diona-ganyu. slap on some other supports and thats all you need. one of my best teams in abyss has been noelle, albedo, xiangling, xinqiu, but you could easily use tartag+fischl/beidou, zhong+geo MC if you really dont like dying, hu tao xinqiu if you want to take advantage of noelles passive shield that can activate on hu taos skill use seperately to noelles skill...
I was Noelle main before I got Hu Tao, Noelle’s passive shield went from borderline useless and seldom used to a literal godsend.

I was planning to pull for Zhongli then I realized that Noelle is actually balance and she has good mechanism, I'm a casual player and I'm not interested in Spiral Abyss, hence if I pull for Zhongli then the game would be too easy and kinda boring because he's too overpowered for me, I want to experience Genshin Impact at fullest without stressing myself on Spiral Abyss.
For someone who struggle to find a good and efficient team for Noelle I can agree with the "Required specific teammates" point. She doesn't really have a good synergy with the rest of the cast other than geo. But even so she still can work well. I'm just glad I have my traveler built as her battery.
I dont have other geo units at the moment but I use her with Diona and Rosaria and it kind of works for me especially it fixes her energy issue

As a former noelle main, my only problem with her when I got to higher AR's was the fact that before yun jin, there really wasn't any reliable way for me to get energy particles
At first I didn't like using Noelle because of how slow she felt. But after getting her C6, Noelle has been my go-to character for clearing gimmicky domains since my main teams are purely DPS for Abyss with not too good survivability (don't ask, my comps are bad in general). Most artifacts I get are terrible, but for Noelle specifically, I didn't need to farm long to get a decent set for her

I only stopped playing Genshin relatively recently, but even then, Noelle was one of my best characters. She's one of the only healers that I was okay with keeping on the field to do her healing because of how powerful she could be, and by the time her burst was over, everyone else was back to full health. Ironically enough, when I first made a Geo team, all of the other characters there were supports for her more than anything else, and that's incredible considering that those units were Zhongli, Albedo, and Ningguang.
As a Noelle main, all I could say is Noelle's shields has helped me from death far too many times that I could count
She was my first character that I maxed out, and carried me for my first year of playing the game. She is a really fun character but has no interactions with other characters and really niche in a situations where you wanna use her. So when my acc was strong enough to not care what team comps I play, she is rarely in my teams anymore.
Noelle main in 2023: Our time has come
Noelle is one of the characters i use most in Genshin. She saved the ass of my entire squad many times since i got her, the week that Genshin launched. All thanks to her shield and healing. Hell, i finished Inazuma a few days ago, and i'm still use her.
Noelle, is without a doubt one of my favorite characters in the game.
My favorite characters in genshin are the ones that feel like they are a full character. Noelle has checked that mark for me to the tee. I feel as if the fact that you have to put a lot of time and effort into her is characteristic of her personality, and it's made me enjoy the journey that my Noelle has gone through. Every damage increase feels much more rewarding when you take into account Noelle's personality. She does everything, which is also a large part of her character. She has full kit scaling, meaning everything is based around one major stat as opposed to split scaling. Of course, this comes with C6, but that comes around with your devotion to her, which wraps back to the time an effort thing. She has some deep mechanics that make her satisfying to play, and I will NEVER get tired of the screen shake and sound effect of her swings.
I've always loved characters who's gameplay is reminiscent of their lore, another reason why I admire Hu Tao. I don't have her, but her theme being represented in her gameplay is extremely well-thought out. A funeral consultant who walks along the ethereal line of life and death. Thus her gameplay is represented by continuously dropping below and healing above her low hp threshold to maximize her damage, literally teetering back and forth on the line of life and death.
I think Noelle is one of those perfectly designed characters in the game, but a lot of people don't want perfectly designed characters, they want meta. I wish more characters had their lore and personality represented in their gameplay.
noelle was my first character, and shes carried me my entire game, even in spiral abyss. Still waiting for the c6 con but shes so reliable and well rounded i can throw her into any team and it works. Def need to pair her with xingqui though for the energy

Noelle was my shield and healer when I was below AR45, I mainly used her as a support so I haven’t seen her full Main dps potential.
Even as a full support I think her biggest weakness is her energy recharge and massive cooldown issues. She’s still besto maid in my eyes even if I don’t use her as much anymore.

Although I agree with pretty much everything said in this video, I still maintain that Noelle is an absolute BEAST!!! She's the only character in the game who is a healer, a shielder, and a DPS all rolled in to one. She will easily carry new players from the early-game, through the mid game, right into the end-game, and even then, if you can get her at C6 and carry on building her, she becomes immense in the end-game too (in the right circumstances).
I'll admit, I don't use her all that much anymore (I have about 15 5-star characters to choose from now, and a ton of well built 4-stars lol) but every now and then I'll find a situation that calls for Noelle, and I'm always surprised at how much of a beast she actually is (especially in an all-Geo team).
Also, the great thing about Noelle is that, artifacts that you would normally deem 'rubbish' for most other characters (DEF stat ones) are usually amazing for Noelle, so you can basically build her really easily using just the 'scraps' form other characters.

She's is currently lvl80/90, talents 8/8/8 and a Whitebland lvl80/90. All I need are better Husk arts. Right now shes 54%c.rate 111%c.dmg so there's plenty of improvement left🛐

I don't get it why so many people are getting so worked up with this video XD he's basically just telling the pros and cons of the character and most of it are really accurate, thanks for these vids! Keep up the great work
Semantics of "why no one plays" essentially (i.e. the implication is that the unit has fatal flaws). It's like a feminist meaning something different when they say misandrist statements, saying they aren't sexist.
Also there are characters that are kinda worse than her, so I'm genuinely surprised
"When it comes to gacha games, metas are formulated on the basis of specialization." *cries in Qiqi main* I personally believe that a good solution to the healer/tank problem is a more expanded multiplayer. If we could get a multiplayer abyss or a multiplayer version of the rogue like event, people would want a healer and or a tank on their team and I think that will get people to care besides Mihoyo just increasing enemy damage output.
Noelle is my “F*** it character”. When I’m having a hard time with a challenge (which is so rare it almost never happens) or I just don’t want to think, I use Noelle. Kill, defend, and heal. One stop shop for straightforward play. Love it.
I built Noelle just bc I loved her character and the fact that I kept getting Husk artifacts instead of the healing one. And all I can say is now I can't die with Kokomi + Noelle.

Honestly 90% of the reason I love her is that her playstyle is really satisfying (for a reason I can't describe). That animation when she does the stance and her shield pops on is just great.
Let us not igonore the fact that she had 4 to 5 buffs recently. She got red horn, husk of opulant dreams and 2 dedicated supports for her who are yunjin and gorou. She is much more viable that in 1.0.
You're ignoring the fact that most other characters also got buffs or some sorts, especially elemental comps with RAIDEN and kazuha, so no, in reality she is actually worse in terms of viability compared to 1.0
She really owes Itto something for making all of that happen 😅
If she doesn't make it into the Knights Of Favonius maybe she joins the Arataki Gang 😂

@@kiuhh1118 if you use Noelle with gladiator set and white blind and then switch to red horn and husk set you will know what I'm talking about. The difference is so huge. Yunjin will change her damage so much and with gorou it almost doubles. You say characters that we're good in 1.0 are more viable because of raiden or at least some of them. That's true but having dedicated weopen and support and artifact is kinda different in terms of impact level. Noelle is still A tier at best and in peak condition. So don't take it too seriously anyways.

Noelle was my Zhongli replacement when I didn't have Zhongli, and now she's my Itto replacement after I pulled Zhongli. I have Redhorn, farmed 4p Husk and no Itto. The anniversary web event said Noelle was my most played character in domains.
reason 1: I have itto.
reason 2: I have triple crowned itto.
As a noelle main, she is amazing in boss rush content, but we haven’t had that for a few updates.
Also, her ER sucks ass. Need a dedicated team comp, but mono geo is amazing on her.
I main Noelle, and I think that idea you were getting to at the end is probably a big factor in why I like her and why others don't. Like you said, she is a generalist; she is decent at a lot of things, even if it takes some investment. While I can't speak for other Noelle mains, I will say that I actually prefer this generalist approach. I like having a reliable fighter who works in most situations, so for me, that investment is worth it. Furthermore, I actually don't mind the grind as much as a lot of other players seem to, so that investment is effectively lower for me personally.
Noelle with The Bell carried me from the start to AR 40. She's a great early unit and fun to play with

@@yashkedia6087 I am speculating here but likely because of the Bell's shield helps to give an extra shield since her skill's cooldown is very long? Tho I do agree, I got R1 20 whiteblind for her early on so never used the bell even at low AR
As a Noelle appreciator as well, please stop using the Bell XD. Just run WhiteBlind instead. Its easier to obtain and it instantly makes her damage even better as well as provide a nice defense % substat. XD the bell is such a meme weapon.

As a noelle DPS enthousiast, Yes, Most people will find her not being a specialist a bad thing, but as someone who enjoy the geo gamestyle, her being able to shield, heal, deal good dmg and not loosing her ult between swaps is all I ever wanted.
As a typical gamer like you described, she suits my playstyle perfectly - I'm lazy so I don't want to dodge and Noelle let's me tank damage and just stand there and swing away.
I had invested into her since the start since I had no idea how the game worked back then, recently got her to C6 and she's never really left my team other than when I'm bored and want to mess around with other team comps.
The only other shielders I have are Diona and Ninguang, but I haven't built Diona yet.
I have a 2pc Noblesse and 2 pc Berserker set on her and I managed to get Redhorn Stonethresher for her and I see her hit for 2k average which isn't bad since that's when she's healing the team. E then Q then spin to win as they say.
She's not meta but I don't play meta and I like her personality and style and she was the first to reach level 90, ahead of Eula.

I have such a soft spot for her. She’ll always be my first 4* pull. As with a lot of Genshin characters they all have a their strengths and weaknesses, so using the right character/s for the right content makes all the difference. I discovered when farming up ascension mats for Albedo that Noelle’s true strength lies in absolutely obliterating the annoying as all hell Geo Hypostasis. Even at lvl 50 she bullies that thing. She may not get a lot of time on my roster out in the world, but when it’s time to bully the Geo Hypostasis, I now always look forward to it 😁 And if HoYo had that beast in the Abyss rotations you can bet your best 5* she’d be in a lot more players’ Abyss rosters and more built out.
I got c6 noelle when I tried to get zhongli last year. She was my first c6 character. I decided to build her and she carried me throughout my adventures. Even with the release of azdaha, I used her to carry players on co-op. I used to play weekly bosses on co-op and the majority of them just use Main DPS characters. Noelle filled up the role as a healer, tank, and a damage dealer at the same time. Too bad the spiral abyss completion is measured as a time trial challenge so her usage rate is really low.
I really like her character design and her personality in the game.
Noelle will always have a place in my heart! ಥ‿ಥ
To everyone complaining about Noelle not deserving a "Why noone plays":
Sure, the usage for no character is zero. However, the statistics show that while she's the most popular amongst the 4star selfish DPS, her usage is still really low when compared to 4star meta DPS and 5stars not named Diluc, Keqing, Aloy and Qiqi. Keep in mind that personal experience barely ever shows the whole picture, and that the title is not meant to be taken THAT literally.

I'm just surprised he went for her and not Thoma. No really...a literal split-scaler done wrong vs a relatively balanced unit locked behind constellations, and he went with the latter.
The semantics of the title is throwing me off even though I would probably agree with what he'd say. It's really way better if he worded it differently. "Why no one plays" usually heavily implies trash-tier in gaming.
The mistake i see every single time when people use Geo of Corruption is that they never put Noelle with Yunjin. Do you realize Yunjin's kit compliments Noelle and helps carry the rest of them team.

I just love to see her struggling with her huge sword while doing enough damage to shatter a mountain.
I actually used Noelle as my main because not only is she charming and strong af (she swings a claymore like it’s nothing) her healing and shield has saved me a BUNCH of times. She’s attached to a lot of good memories I had playing the game.
When I first started playing Noelle it was 100% as a Shielder and Healer. I mostly used her in the cases where I would use Hu Tao and the like because I didn’t have Zhongli. But after giving her a solid chance at being a DPS, she’s loads of fun to play and is very self sustaining with her own healing. I do think that the cooldown on her shield is pretty massive but as long as you’re dealing damage the cooldown actually shortens every 4 hits.
Either way I just got excited to share. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about her.

As a long time Noelle main, thank you so much, Vars. I appreciate your very honest analysis, and you brought up so many good points. I found that Noelle might not be the most viable option, but it is a joy that I can use her on my team. It was a very nice adventure since starting out. 👍

By the way, investment, the thing is, she is one of the most efficient ones...
-You get unwanted Husk artifacts while farming your clam sets for your healers so artifacts for her come for free.
-You also get Gladiators from the strongbox which is an equally good set for her and you'll inevitably have some that roll DEF.
-You get a unit with an element that counters most enemies so you can have fewer DPS units raised. She can kill pretty much everything, including shielded enemies while DPS of other elements are less universal.
-You actually can get away with raising fewer healers on your account because Noelle is a healer while also being a good DPS so her team doesn't need one.
So basically her artifacts come for free and she does the job of 2-3 units for the price of one. That's about as good as it can get for investment.
The only issue is getting her C6 which is extremely hard because she is a 4* unit so there are no guarantees and you can't pull for her if the banner 5* is not something you want.
Noelle is in the shop often for starglitter or whatever it’s called. The shop only has old original characters after all, so it’s easier to get her c6 after some time.
You do NOT want Clam on anyone other than Qiqi. Barbara and Kokomi are both HP scaled so they want Millelith. Bennett also need hp but he ALSO need ATK for his ult. Jean and Sayu need atk and VV.
@@asianjackass237 Kokomeme has too much healing tbh. Wouldn’t hurt to use clam. Healing isn’t as important in Genshin as damage.
@@asianjackass237 bennett's atk boosting comes from his base atk stat, which is only influenced by his weapon's base atk. this actually frees up his sands, cup, and hat for hp/hp/helaing.
also it can depend on if you want your healer to help with dps. it works especially well with off-field heals-over-time kinda heals like qiqi, jean, barbara, bennett, etc. it's obviously not their BiS, but they aren't bad by any stretch (as long as you get good stats on artifacts ofc)

If anything, it's the opposite lmao. Farming for Itto/Noelle/Albedo, and all you get are clam sets and ATK/HP Husks, because why not.
Excited for this video! Noelle carried me when I was in low AR. She has an all-around kit but everything in it is lacking. But she’s still my best girl! ❤️
I've had Noelle on my team since I got her and man, the only time I removed her was when I got Barbara and that was only like, a week. Her shield and healing have absolutely helped me out a lot. I still need a lot more Noelles to get C6, but so far I've loved using her.
Back when the abyss favours geo, Noelle + Redhorn comfortably smashed through abyss 12.
Not that I'd recommend building her over others, but she can definitely carry you when the conditions are right.

Noelle is like my team mom. When the other three children get hurt, the Fatui tremble in fear when I bring her out.
In all seriousness, I love Noelle for a lot of reasons. Her voice acting, her giant sword, her design looking more battle-ready than a lot of the other female units (despite being in a maid dress). I didn’t even consider pulling on Zhongli’s banner recently because I thought “I already have a level 70 geo shield and if he makes everyone invincible I’ll get bored and also terrible at dodging.” Nothing against the ceo of geo, of course

One thing I would like to mention is that you never really talked about gorou and yunjin, Noelle is the only character that uses both so in a way she kind of double dips on gorous def buff. Serpent spine is another great choice. Also personally I don't really get what you mean by the she's a normal person thing her strength and want to help others is kind of outlandish. Character design wise I agree it's more of an opinion.
Yeah, I accidentally stumbled into this combination and if you add in a tenacity user (ZL, Albedo) it's ridiculous. This is the one edge she has over Itto that brings her close to his DPS viability at C6. Itto is definitely more "comfortable" because you really just need Gorou at that point and free up slots for crowd control, etc. But thank god for Noelle's range you almost don't need CC... I feel it's pretty interesting how she's gotten some indirect buffs recently.
