My father was a pastor of a conservative, reformed church and had several experiences with possession over a period of 50 years. He said that the most gratifying aspect of this ministry, was to observe how manifesting demons couldn’t stand the name of Jesus when He was invoked.

Corbus, not sure you meant it that way, but if your comment is a criticism of how Catholic exorcisms are done, please keep the following in mind: When our priests are ordained, the grace of Holy Orders is conferred upon them, setting them apart from lay people. And so every priest-exorcist conducts the ritual "in persona Christi"-- in Jesus's Name, representing Christ-- not in the priest's own name, not as his own individual personality. The priest is not there to call attention to himself or his own personal gifts. He is not "the main course" or focus of attention. A solemn liturgical exorcism is never done in public. It is not a sideshow.
Often Protestants misunderstand that we Catholics fully believe that Jesus is present, simply because they think we do not speak or act or use exactly the same words that Protestants do. In addition to which, of course, Jesus, as well as the grace and power of God the Father and the Holy Spirit, are invoked during the exorcism ritual. But because only ordained priests pray the ritual, you aren't likely to hear it quoted directly in these discussions.

You look at the guys Cameron has had on to talk about demons, Dr. Gallagher, Father Martins, Father Vincent Lampart and others. These are not dumb or crazy guys, Dr. Gallagher went to Princeton and was a psychiatrist for probably 40 or 50 years, Father Martins was a very smart guy as well. Yes. And those people are very sick. Like Mary Magdalene.. they are hijacked and it feels quite personal. I've got that situation in my life. Hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. They have super natural info about people they target. Like something you haven't shared, but feel. They will exploit that feeling until you blow up and lash back verbally at the container. Then the container has no idea, acts like it did nothing wrong. Or is confused..etc. this same thing can jump from person to person if those people aren't saved. And Jesus told us this would happen. They hated Him, of course they will hate us and try to keep us in darkness. Fight. Never stop for their attacks. Avoid them. Pray for the container. Pray without ceasing! Learn the Bible... The psalms. Read them out loud. Psalm 91 especially. God bless, hope you endure... This isn't easy man. ❤️‍🔥

My favourite song at that time was from a really popular rapper called Lil Uzi Vert and it was thought to be demonic even by secular people. I then had a dream where this specific song started playing with the voice of the rapper saying all his fans will go to hell with him and that they heard this song a million times and didnt even know that phrase he actually said on a concert. It was exactly the same melody and sound. Upon hearing that I instantly felt a presence creeping up behind me. It was like pure evil and fear itself, like you could literally strongly feel just fear coming of that dark being. I then woke up, felt this being from the dream behind me and I unjokingly felt it kneel on my bed and like kind of shoot into me. It was like a electrifying vibration where I couldnt even really move or talk. I managed to just scream Jesus in my mind and BOOM. Suddenly everything was fine. God showed me there that yes music can be demonic and really bad, He showed me that demons are no match for Jesus and also this all taught me that like you said, they have such a weird presence that just sucks the light out of the surrounding. It literally felt like fear was a person creeping behind you, totally evil, dark, and just doom. However, they aint no match for Jesus and Jesus could toss them around like toys.

According to the Baha’i Faith and the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh, demons, devils, Satan and etc, are all different symbols of our own lower natures. This does not lessen the danger of what’s considered evil, but puts it into its rightful philosophical, theological and historical perspectives. However, to think that there are these little demonic creatures from another dimension running around would be tantamount to taking the subject outside of its meaningful history and contextual biblical language, and thus distorting its original linguistic purpose. This is why Jesus called Peter, “Satan (with a capital S). It would be illogical to think that Peter was literally the Satanic creature.
Another biblical reason to be assured that such names such as Satan, demon, devil and so on are all symbolic of the lower nature of man being personified or anthropomorphized in order to be understood and related to better would be the story between Job, God, and Satan. Here is the passage:
“One day the members of the heavenly courtfn came to present themselves before the LORD, and the Accuser, Satan,fn came with them.
“Where have you come from?” the LORD asked Satan.
Satan answered the LORD, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.”
Then the LORD asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless-a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.”
Satan replied to the LORD, “Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God. You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is! But reach out and take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!”
“All right, you may test him,” the LORD said to Satan. “Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don’t harm him physically.” So Satan left the LORD’s presence.”
      (Job 1:6-12 NIV)
So, if this story was literal, it would most certainly be absurd to think that God would have casually talked to Satan and even make casual deals with him. How childish such a notion would have been.
As mentioned above, these stories are symbolic of the spiritual truths and should not be taken literally.

I work in mental health care and it’s made me much less sceptical of the idea of dark entities usurping a person’s mind. I’ve only been in the field for a little less than a decade and I certainly don’t have the educational clout of a psychiatrist, yet “presenting reality” and “reality testing” doesn’t always strike my heart as the correct response to patients’ described experiences.
TLDR: I actually don’t think there’s a bunch of people who have DSM diagnoses and then just a few who are legitimately possessed. There’s some aspect of spiritual disturbance within probably a lot of “mental” illness.

Thank you for recognizing this in the mental health field. As someone who has struggled lifelong from varying, often incorrect, mental diagnoses since a teenager, I can assure you that spirit possession/oppression is a very real and unfortunate occurrence. Mental health challenges are “often” rooted in traumatic childhood abuse and many spirit “possession” cases can also. I believe drug addiction, alcoholism, etc are at least exacerbated by it also. What religion attributes as “demonic” is often dead human “ghost” spirits attached due to an energetic “break” that acts as a doorway. Some are very malignant as the one that was attached to me and throughout my family line. Healing traumatic wounds is essential for depossession and depossession is necessary to give the recipient a chance to heal those wounds. It is a loop that must be broken. I commend you for being open minded in a field that is often not. Treatment would be so much more helpful if this was integrated and accepted. Dig deeper, the material is there. Look into psychiatrists who incorporated hypnotherapy and accidentally stumbled upon possession cases. Thank you.

If anyone is wondering (& it seems like Cameron is) why Dr Gallagher doesn’t explain the medical evaluation but simply appeals to his own experience/expertise, it is because he knows that if he were to try to explain, Cameron & most listeners would have no clue what he’s saying & it’s almost impossible to translate medical explanations into layman’s terms. Medical education is literally learning a foreign language & it’s extremely difficult to translate it for people who are not scientists. So, most doctors by second nature just avoid using medical language when asked a medical question by a non-scientist - it’s not a condescension but just practicality.

Yes! So when someone asks for studies to prove the existence of demons how does a medical professional explain the physical findings related to neurological abnormalities/ specific disorders or diagnoses to a layperson? There are tests to prove right side brain dysfunction, which is the side of the brain that is intuitive. So if there’s problems with intuition and a link to a higher power, then perhaps the spiritual diagnosis would be atheist?
So if one is an atheist one doesn’t believe in a higher power, so how would an atheist ever believe in an evil higher power? I’m afraid there’s no tests to prove that there is a higher power.

I also was picking up videos aka remote viewing of a man I was dating and his evil deeds. I even had someone/ something whisper in my ear my bf was making deals with the devil. I never realized what a curse it was to have.
I also want to mention I have a stalker that’s skitzofrenic. He has psychic tendencies and can read my thoughts, he sends me emails of things I thought about, that I never said out loud. Very private thoughts. Whenever I get those messages, I wonder how to block him.
I also had another man I dated very briefly. He easedropped on a dream from god. He saw the book closing that god showed me in my dream. He claimed to be “religious” but was also spiritual and astral projecting. I even believe he transported into my room a few times because I knew someone was there, felt it in my dreams, felt a body in my dreams once as well. Just very strange feeling there was a person. A real person.
I have prayed for the lords Protection from him and anyone “ease” dropping on me.

Evil is real, my family and I lived through it, it's not so much the supernatural parlor tricks it's the happy family becoming unrecognizable overnight- cursing you out, punching holes in the wall, breaking furniture, hurting the dog. Then the depression, suicidal thoughts, unbearable physical pain, exhaustion, sleepless nights, phantom illnesses like fibromyalgia, bleeding for months- so badly I had to wear diapers, i don't know how I didn't die. It's just this heavy dark feeling of doom, hopelessness and oppression. It's so draining that when objects fly I'd just roll my eyes, like fu*k it, do you worst, I'm alive- if you're gonna kill me be done with it- but Jesus had other plans for me. I never, in a million-billion-trillion years, thought I'D be the person about to write this comment: Yet, I value truth above all other currencies, and so here I am.
For a period of approximately thirty days, I was being oppressed by (what turned-out to be) a female demon. Nearly every night (during this 30 day period) was like a battle zone of torment, frustration, and ineffable amounts of fear.
I am a VERY logically orientated, grounded, and intelligent person. So, whilst these events were transpiring, I simply rationalized "scientifically," minimized, and reduced.
These night time experiences were clearly PROGRESSIVE and LINEAR. (Each experience seemed to take it one step further.) And, during the very LAST intense and personal experience, I ended-up seeing the demon in broad daylight. Standing over me. The sheer amount of hatred in her eyes is unlike anything I've ever seen.
After seeing her, POOF, the night time torment ended. But, this is when various other symptoms began. She was like a harbinger of negativity.
Also, It wasn't the crazy and overt experiences that made me think it was an actual "demonic attack." For, the nature of those experiences made them too difficult to even entertain as reality.
Rather, it was what came AFTERWARDS that made me entertain more, "out there" possibilities.
For example, after I saw her, I had nightmares, every single night, for almost a year.
The morning after I saw her, I had blood in my pee. (Went to doctor immediately, they couldn't find anything. It's never happened again, and it's been almost 5 years.)
I began to get angry and annoyed MUCH faster.
During the nightmare phase, between 11pm and 3am, I'd hear a DISTINCT "popping" noise. Like someone flicking plastic with their fingers, HARD. It would only happen once. And, it even still happened when I CHANGED ROOMS.

I experienced the language thing when I was in Africa once. I didn’t know what was happening to this girl as I was a newer believer, but she manifested while I was praying for her in the hospital. Because our adrenaline was pumping, we were shouting as we prayed around her, but calm prayer would have been fine too :-) After a while we had to pray because they weren’t coming out - but then you could see it working and finally she dropped to the bed completely exhausted. When I went to speak with her, she couldn’t speak English anymore and I had to he translated when I shared the gospel. We came back to check on her later and still no English - craziest thing I had experienced. Also, I thought they would be calling the cops or something on us because we were all yelling at the top of our lungs and it was like nobody in the hospital heard any of it - business just went on as usual.
The area had witches, so demonic possession occurred in the area apparently. Even when we did evangelism outreach, a witch showed up in the nude and would throw a staff at the children to try to scare them away, but then occasionally fall to to the ground and convulse. We saw the witch in the crowd of thousands of people watching the Jesus film translated into their local language in a the middle of a field later that night. I was too young and inexperienced to know how to handle the witch situation at the time.

My late father was a pastor of a conservative Christian church. A perplexed anxiety driven lady that had once went to his church came to my father for psychological help. This once thriving and active member of his church was now a shadow of herself. The spiritualist church she was attending had a meeting coming up, so my dad attended. She sat beside him. He had prayed earnestly before his arrival to the church. The speaker had to dismiss because he said someone there had him bound to silence. He was barely able to mutter a few words. The lady got deliverance after she started attending my father's church again. I grew up with a -real sense of the possibility of oppression and possession as realities. I am not Catholic. At the name of Jesus, demons flee.

I happened upon a video with some clips of a very obviously legit exorcism by a South African pastor a few years back. It was pretty ugly. The pastor was telling the demons to leave the people in the name of Jesus. Clearly there was something in my house as well which didn't like the name of Jesus at all, because after the exorcism part I heard loud bellowing coming from my bathroom, like half human half a big ox that is fatally wounded and in dying pain. I was like, is this even real...? Am I really hearing this...? It was surreal but 100% real.

I know that demons exist without a shadow of a doubt. I have been on a path of loneliness and isolation for many many years. I was drawn to things that made my spirit weaker and damaged. When I now started coming back to my faith, the holy water itches. The cross I now wear across my neck has become heavy and makes me feel like I can't breathe, and the very first night I wore it...I could barely sleep. I was woken up many times and my dreams were both vivid and terrifying.

    • @SarahS-lo4mz
      @SarahS-lo4mz ปีที่แล้ว +6

Don't despair or give up! When I came back, I had moments where I felt kinda foggy and like movements were too easy. Almost as if I wasn't fully in control. It was terrifying. Communion kind of burned my throat. Holy water slightly burned. Thankfully I only experienced that a couple times.
I had nightmares for 9 months straight. Couldn't sleep a full night. It was terrible. I felt this cold air touching me, heard voices tormenting me constantly (and this only started happening after the first time I prayed in years...the first voice I heard said "I can hear you praying". I thought I was going nuts).
My week before confession i felt something literally moving around in my head, it was scary. When I went to confession early on, it felt like something was twisting my insides in the parking lot. I mean I doubled over in pain. That only happened once. When I got absolution, I literally heard something screaming in my head and the massive pressure I had been feeling lifted and never returned. Never had that pain again. Sometimes I'd have this random feeling of panic during mass. And there have been a few times I've taken communion and felt something lift off of me, like this strong wind taking something up and I've felt so light for a second.
I'm still dealing with it a bit 2 years later, but man is it like night and day. The vast majority of it has stopped, and i feel like a normal person again.
You give the crap to God in steps and it feels like a roller coaster, cycles where it feels like it's getting worse then it gets better and stays that way. I wish I had room to write everything but I can tell you, God is there helping you even if it doesn't feel like it. Just keep at it and keep trying.
Also one of the best things I ever did was praying to God about everything I'm feeling honestly, even if it seems like something you shouldn't say. God knows it's there but by doing that, you're letting Him into the parts of yourself that need healing.
I'll pray for you whenever you cross my mind. There are so many of us silently suffering with this type of attack, and it can feel lonely and isolating, especially when people don't believe you. But know you're not alone, and it does get better. God would not be letting you go through this without a reason, and you'll come out of this much stronger.
A priest told me "evil exists, but it's like a grain of sand compared to the good. The good is so much more powerful, the evil will leave but it will go kicking and screaming"

I think they can also play a fairly large role in influencing politics, crime(human/drug/gun trafficking etc..), certain forms of entertainment, propagation of certain ideas/philosophies, and a bunch of other widespread ways.
I also think they can play a more subtle role in causing(causing is probably too strong a word, it's more like they influence and nudge things a certain way) what seems like bad luck, miscommunications that lead to arguments, isolating people, low self esteem/depression, suicidal ideation, intrusive thoughts and impulses, abuse, accidents, financial hardship, and many other cunning and mostly imperceptible/unnoticeable methods.
All that being said, I also think having some knowledge in this area can be useful for the purposes of evangelization. Especially these days when so many people have access to information on the occult and are either involved, or tangentially associated with, certain practices(or with those that are).

You should pray and ask God for His protection, ask for His presence in your home and His Kingdom to come. You could also fast, not always easy, but 1-3 days as you are able, God is not unreasonable. Remember there is no power in fasting itself, it is a selfless act done with fervent desire to for His presence. Jesus says, ask and you will recieve, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened for you. God will not turn away anyone who seeks Him. Have faith and trust in His faithfulness.
But if things are very heavy and uncertain, it is best to have someone with experience to help and guide you.

Every exorcist priest I have heard mention Harry Potter said it is a big NO-NO because it teaches one to depend, and idolize, man, magic and witchcraft (rebellion is as witchcraft) not the one true God...which goes against the first commandment. Since he is not a priest that may be why he has a differing personal opinion?

I think it *can* be OK to read things like that but I'd also say you're right about a lot that you say. Especially when it comes to children reading such literature, seeing as how they are more impressionable and (usually) less vigilant against such influence.
In that light I would suggest that concerned parents/guardians should either avoid it altogether or do what my parents did: which is to read the books to(and with) me so as to retain a biblical perspective. In this way their children can gain more understanding of the Bible/Christianity, grow in their faith, learn some effective apologetics and evangelization skills, learn what kind of things to be on guard for concerning the demonic, and spend some quality time with their parents while still getting enjoyment out of the story. This way they would also be less likely to feel left out or controlled, and less likely to rebel in the future.
I'm not saying that parents don't have every right to make judgements calls on these matters because they do, but I can't tell you how many times I've seen children/teenagers/young adults reject their parent's authority and even Christianity entirely once they're exposed to these kinds of things. And it's bound to happen, whether it's in school, at a friend's house, on the internet, in college, or wherever.
For the same reason I also think it's a good idea(at some point) for parents/guardians to teach children about other religions/belief systems and explain specifically why they are Christians, as well as how the other beliefs err. (when I first came back to my faith I wished my parents had done more of this but now I know that God wanted me to try and figure everything out the hard way - I.E. relying on my own understanding - so that later He could more effectively use me to evangelize with understanding, compassion, and empathy)

In 1993, in college at UW- Stevens Point, Wisconsin, I & 3 others, had a direct confrontation with the Spirit of a dead Hybrid masquerading as the Ghost of a Human. Two Girls were messing around with a Ouija Board, while myself & another Guy were observing. As a Christian I already knew that 'Ghosts', as Pop Culture thinks of them, did not exist. When Humans die, we are (except for VERY rare exceptions) 'asleep' and know nothing. So when this creature pretended to be the spirit of a 19-year old Greek Fisherman, who had died in a boating accident back in 1917, I knew it was lying.
At that point, it became aware of me & turned its real self towards me, which was utterly terrifying. No Human could compare to the power & ferocity of this being. However, at that point the Holy Spirit came out of me, confronted the Demon & banished it, freeing the Girls. Apparently something had gone on prior to this, where they had become 'Promised' to it & it was furious at being denied, though of course, utterly powerless against God.

Dr. Gallagher is great. Yes demons can affect certain physical senses. My brother, who was possessed at age 14 after obsessive use of a ouija board, came to visit my parents and me when he was 35.
When he was 14 he was taken to a mental hospital and dx with schizophrenia, which he did indeed develop.
During his visit, he was talking to me and my parents, when he suddenly stopped mid sentence and said loudly "IT WAS A DEMON, MOM". I looked towards my parents to see their reaction - and they apparently hadn't heard what he had said! I couldn't believe that they didn't hear him! Looking back, I should have said to parents "did you just hear what he said?!".

Don't talk about prayer, but if you see an ambulance of firetruck blow by, what do we do? Say a quick prayer. It's a gut feeling, it's the natural sentiment. Prayer is compelled from deep within us, that instinct should slowly become more and more sympathetic and right for him. Praying for others is a fact of life. It goes full circle. Well I would say that if one were to personally experience a demonic spirit/fallen angel that would probably do the trick, that's what did it for me at least.

@I think he is presenting evidence. The average intelligent person doesn’t believe unless they’ve been convinced. Perhaps humans have limitations and perhaps there is more to this world than “empirical” evidence?

Doctor Gallagher evaluated my case as demonic oppression Around 2015 At which time the Catholic Church finally got involved.
An incredible amount has happened since then and I have a lot more documented evidence.
I have just started to put together the foundation of a book.
Never In my life that I think I would be in such a position.
From a very Fulfilling and gratifying life to a full-blown demonic Battle Which I was just not ready for.
I hope to follow up with him one of these days and give him an update.
The battle continues but I am much more capable of defending myself.
I do plan on starting a ministry at some point as well To help people engaged in these battles.
It is very difficult to find help. Took five years for the catholic church to get involved. Most priest had no idea what to do or even how to evaluate me.
More train priests and a better structure is definitely needed.
Anyway god bless Dr. Gallagher the man is the real deal and a genuine man of God.

      Why be so Condescending?
The catholic church Got involved right after doctor Gallagher's evaluation.
It was an ongoing process and it was ultimately successful.
It unfolded over a Of ten years.
I am in the process of writing a book about it.

I went to a protestant christian school and our principal used to be an orderly at a Psychiatric hospital back in the day. One day he was speaking with our class and we asked him if he'd ever come across someone he believed was possessed. He said only one time. It was a tiny little woman in her 50's. He said she had inhuman strength and it took like 8 orderlys to hold her down. She was tossing them across the room like rag dolls according to him. And he was a BIG dude. Well over 6 foot, lifted heavy and very stocky and muscular. That story has always stuck with me.

Great interview. I'd like to know why nobody seems to ever ask demons about subjects that are in debate in religion, philosophy, or science? For example, how would a demon react to someone asking about the Shroud of Turin? or evolution? or the age of the universe? or dark matter? I'm aware that any answers they give shouldn't be fully trusted because they are naturally deceptive, but still, they could give clues in that would could be pursued.

Because demons lie. It’s their nature. Therefore the Church strictly forbids trying to gain esoteric knowledge from them. Plus, conversing with them opens doors to more evil.

I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH SATAN. I was married to his sister for a number of years. When she went to visit her mother, I brought in the local priest to perform an exorcism.
The exorcism didn't work and the house was repossesed.
Good news though. When we divorced she got the house and I got to keep my soul.
