Or they may belong to school

Protestants shouting Faith Alone contributes to this.
Polls show an overwhelming belief in Angels - belief in demons is Much Lower because it’s Too Chilling for many to contemplate.
Cameron, rightly, has picked up on the fact that the existence of demons and the devil is maybe the best apologetic for the Christians Explanation of the World.

It always surprises me how even many believers of various religions (including some Christians) don't believe in demons or the devil. People will say anything from "God is love" to "manifest positive energy", but when you mention demons and possessions they suddenly become sceptics. Feels like they'll believe their horoscope helped them win the lottery, but demonic influence is somehow out of the question.

Actually this is false. Possession by spirits is an ancient belief that is in almost every religion. Exorcism exists in sects of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and some African/Tribal religions. It’s only the modern day secular world that has completely removed the idea of spirits capable of possessing humans. But I agree that the New Age looks at all spirits as benevolent, which is ignorant and even spiritually dangerous

Raised Catholic, AND being 1st American born member of my family from VERY superstitious origins, I always knew about the idea of being possessed, but never considered it, as an actual possibility.
That is, until I found myself physically WRESTLING with “something,” that I could not see. Whatever it was, it had a rather intimate knowledge of what frightened me. Things, that I shared with no one. It visited me often enough, that I dreaded having to go to sleep.

If I am not mistaken, according to the Bible, those who have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them cannot be demon possessed. I could be mistaken, but that would suggest it was some level of oppression/attack - or the alternative that the Holy Spirit wasn't inside... But I cannot possibly make that determination. Perhaps somebody who knows more can provide more insight to what the Bible says about this.

Hi friends, ever thought why the believers were called Christians in the book of Acts, it is important to note that those words mentioned in Acts 11:26... first called Christians in Antioch. These words have brought us to some questions. What was their identity before they went in to Antioch? And why were they called Christians?
Firstly we know according to the bible that the disciples are of the Jewish nation. Born Jews, kept the Sabbath, Passover and all customs of the Jews. Paul said in 2 Cor: 11:22 Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I.
God did not call them Christians my friend. Those in Antioch called them Christians.
      Why were they called Christians?
The disciples were preaching the doctrine of the resurrection Acts 4:2, And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead some mocked... Acts 17:32; Jesus was the back bone of the doctrine of the resurrection because he died and rose from the tomb 1 Cor. 15:11-14:
So when the disciples went into Antioch they were given this false name "Christians" as a mockery not as an identity of religion; also this was not the only false name mention of the disciples in the bible; also they were called *Niger* Act 13:1.
This false name identified Jewish men as they preach the gospel of the resurrection. That is why Peter said... if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed... 1 peter 4:12
Therefore my friend we must take the true understand of the word Christian according to the bible and not what it represents today. For what Christianity represents today is not the true religion of Jesus.
Question: if the word Christian is so important why is it mention only three times in the entire bible Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28 and 1 Peter 4:16?

I saw a dude leap from one side of my sons bedroom, from the floor. He was crouched in an odd position as he had the palms of his hands & soles of his feet flat to the floor, all at the same time, so he was like a frog when he began the jump. He flew up through the air, all the way across the room, to the opposite wall. He landed on the wall in the same position he began from, crouched down low, knees out, on all four of his extremities, which were flat on the wall! Then he began crawling across the wall sideways, five feet up the wall, one hand & foot at a time... Like a fly! Then his head turned sharply towards ME with an awkward, extremely unnatural speed & motion, sideways like it was going to spin off his neck! His head stopped right at the angle of his eyes meeting mine! It was at that moment that I knew for sure and for real that had been engaged in another war that was apparently going to be a doozy, again! It was at that moment I realized he had returned, bringing seven others much worse with him! If I thought Burbank California in 1989 was intense, I never could have imagined just how wide my mind was about to be blown open. Thank you Jesus! Thank you Mother!

    On fairies and leprechauns:
"Faerie" originally refers to the entire spirit world, including the world of the dead. Tinkerbell and similar storybook imagery is a very recent development and came about when spirit beings began to be dismissed as "fanciful" in the last couple centuries.
"Leprechauns" are understood in some Irish lore as a category of fallen angel. Again, the image of a little gnome in green pantaloons and a jaunty hat is a recent development.

The truth is that there are very few authorized exorcists, and that the process for getting an exorcism is more complicated, it involves doctors, psychologists, witnesses, a whole investigation of every particular case. The best kind would be whistleblowers that don’t conveniently deconvert after claiming the churches are all lying but, instead, remains a practicing traditionalist believer (even believing demon possession is real) that maintains they were exploited and the current exorcism activity among the church is a complete farce.
THAT would be convincing counter evidence…I don’t see it anywhere

How can a book prove the existence of anything you have never seen, heard or touched? The Bible was written by men. Not by demons, today everyone walks around with a video camera in their pocket. And still we have not one video of a person flying in the air, crawling on ceilings. But people with weak minds like yourself will believe anything. Do you really believe Adam and Eve were the first two people on the planet. Then a couple of chapters later they get have 2 sons and both sons get married. Where in the hell did their wives come from? Wow, then Mary has a son and she was a virgin. Do you really believe this crap?

Hello from Italy. I used to be a skeptic long ago, until a friend of mine almost 20 y. ago he asked me if I could take his girlfriend to “a doctor” the following day cause he was busy. I agreed and took his lady to ‘the doctor’. When we arrived in a basilica in a north est city of italy. I was surprised to be met by a couple of big men and a priest. The priest after asking me if I knew about my friend’s problem asked me if I was willing to help ‘em on this session ‘of prayers’. He at first didn’t mention about an exorcism. It was around nine in the evening when the exorcism started, the basilica looked spooky ancient illuminated just by candles to add to the spookiness. If I only knew what I was going to get into I’d have never ever accepted to be there. It was so bizarre, the smirky face of my friend lady, the growling sound, her face at some point transfigured into a swallen face, red eyes, foaming from her mouth, talking and easily switching arcaic languages, mastering latin , ancient greek, knowing hidden things of myself ( she could mention of a quarrel I had with my father before he got ill and eventually died, not even my mom knew about that, adding that I had abandoned him) when I attempted to approach her during a break in which I thought she was liberated while she wasn’t ( all the range of phenomena I witnessed were unbelievably insane, too many to describe here, strange multiple voices sometimes coming from her, now behind me, in a corner down there the next second, very scorcing temperatures here and freezing cold on another side. My legs started to shake for fright ( i tell you I’m not a bit of a chicken at all) at a point. The exorcist had several times to regain my attention cause I was distracted by the presence of a group of invisible people I thought were trying to break into through the sacrestia’s door. Nobody was there. There were only 5 of us in the church. After taking her home that night I headed home around 23.30 , that time I lived with my mom, to find my mom very distressed cause around the time I was in the church coinciding with the start of the exorcism , my mom at home was experiencing the strangest activity ever witnessed in her life, ‘someone’ invisible had been punching kicking and blasting the front door of my house up to a point you could sense as if the house were to collapse for two hours, when you opened the door nobody was there to be found. Neighbours were called cause my mom was very frightened and two families next door would have experienced that phenomena for the next ten months, without any rational explanation. One of these men’s wife was a non believer, the following days approached my mom saying < you know Teresa, after what me and my husband experienced in your house are seriously thinking to go back to church cause we are very scared, my husband Paolo , can no longer sleep after the event>. Afterwards I called the same exorcist to come to my home for blessing the house, he succeeded in liberating the house very slowly over approximately a period of time of ten months and only for having taken my friend to the exorcist ( if I start saying what happened in my house I’d have to write a book). The first time the priest saw me in that basilica he addressed me like this< if you are willing to participate in this you’ll no longer be the same person as you are now > I imagined he said that cause he was eager to wipe that superb smile I had off from my face towards spiritual staff , adding < consider this some kind of catechesis to strenghten your faith>. He was right!!! I can no longer sleep with lights off from time to time still now, despite long time already passed. It’s a mistery! This is all I can say. I would be very interested in hearing what skeptics have to say about this. You cannot explain with rationalism these type of things cause rationality itself is a construct of the mind in the same way buying into all others have to say by gullible people. It’s a knife! It cuts you anyway on both extreme premises perpectives . It’s all true! The fairy tale is true folks!God is real so is the Devil!!! Moreover, after I decided to get closer to church, get the confession and all the sacraments, I started to experience the strangest period of my life, a series of battle withing myself, some misfortunes happened to me in a sequence to shatter everybody on his knees. I stayed in contact with that priest, he once confessed me and I told him about this battle. He gave me a couple of suggests saying < you now are born to a new life, and someone ( he called the devil ‘the acquaintance of the cellar’) doesn’t want you to stay in the right path>. Who knows if God permitted that or the devil itself being used by God to allow that. No rational explanation here nor scientific evidences to be tested on labs, of course I’m the one to know what I had to go through. We are allowed to be skeptics of course, but what we are not allowed is to mock things we have no clue about, this cannot be done. The last but not least , you can’t convince someone who decided not to believe, cause non believers also are clenched in their constructed belief of disbelief. Now I know. Sorry for the long writing.

@@malirk it is a long story to write in a comment. She had been rambling for hours & hours non stop. Mostly sounded a bit like debating 'herself' with some religious references. I have a degree in history w ancient nesr eastern religions & was trying to reason with her to rest (I couldn't see her it was over intercom) as I couldn't believe someone was still pacing and talking angrily with themselves for some 6 hours straight.
As she would respond to tell me to shut up, and I have no authority & "don't you know I have her, don't you know my name?"
So knowing bits of what I do know history wise, thinking she's mental or on some extraordinary long acting drugs...I say in somewhat parental dismissive tone "ok, so you are the devil himself...then you should know all the names he goes by tell me any of them and if you cannot you need to rest now."
The voice changed immediately, deep guttural, and was speaking a language I couldn't identify directly but recognized some ancient asyrian (I don't know the language but it is the visual I daw, perhaps somehow it knew what i had studied) and then then "he" listed off inside the dialog the various names we would recognize in History (5 I recalled).
Then ignored me, voice went back and kept rambling. Soon after Someone came and said I must go see as she has drawn a thick line in blood in her room and would pace going across and put her face in the window and still nonstop talking when she hit the window she would say something in a growling voice. I was told to go look.
When I looked in, she was in the last stride with her back at me walking away... she turned walked at me spitting angry words and hair on back my neck.stood up & reverted to only thing I could recall as I wasn't Religious then, but said Our father prayer I learned when I was 10 and the moment she hit that bloody line on the floor she kept cursing e veins popping out but it was silent. Like the audio turned off but the face and body still going. I switched to ramble off a Hail Mary, I think I said "In Jesus name I cast the demons out to the sewers leave her body"
I was pretty traumatized actually as the room was blood on walls and that bloody line she stopped at and her eyes weren't right at all.
Turned and practically ran away, thankful she was in that cell. She became quiet, I was told she collapsed sleeping on the bed. They transfered her somewhere the next day.
It's still unnerving to think about it. I know what I experienced and what I saw.

As someone who accepted Jesus when I was a kid and then took a long prodigal adventure in my teens and early 20s, I can personally testify that the spiritual realm is very real. Not only have I had angels save my life, and actually heard God (no other explanation makes sense) speak to me in a single instance. I had multiple demonic attachments formed to me, and was demonically infested to the point that I could go into a "berserker rage" (as I called it then) where I would see red and become extremely violent, and even though I was a scrawny teen it would take several grown men to restrain me... around the same time I would see shadowy black figures running and racing back and forth pretty much all the time if I was looking for them... yeah I didn't really put two and two together... even after that situation came to a head and I somewhat repented and turned to God, I still had it's influence, even talking about it with other people would manifest a palpable presence other people could feel and even see- it would make me feel cold and all my hair would stand on end. After a while it had me back doing all kinds of disobedient and dangerous things again. This was just one singular attachment that I've briefly summarized. There were multiple times I was pulled out of my body into the spiritual realm, heard them speak to me and torment me, and even saw full bodied manifestations in the waking day, not to mention insanely realistic lucid dreams and sleep paralysis in which these entities would attempt to enter covenants or attack me. It took a very long time to break all the ties and close all the doors (with the help of the Holy Spirit) that I had opened, needless to say there's not a "science minded" person on this earth that could give me a "rational" explanation for this... You watched too many horror movies is the dumbest argument I've ever heard. I actually agree with his conclusion on that though, the Hollywood representation of it and desensitizing of Americans through entertainment is a disservice to us. No it doesn't often happen the way it is shown in Hollywood, but it is far more intense and terrifying when you're actually going through it, even if you aren't climbing walls like a bug, having something jump your bones and run around in your body, coming too doing or saying obscene and horrible blasphemous things is worse... The worst part is the movies don't teach you how to free yourself from them, nor how you come into agreement or allow them access to your life. I'm glad Christians are talking about this openly... I'm afraid with the rise of witchcraft, paganism and the rampant Molech worship occurring all around us these days, it's gonna get worse before it gets better (if it gets better) and many churches and pastors are not preparing their flock for spiritual warfare or teaching them how to protect friends and family. In case you're wondering, no I don't have any mental illnesses, and I am perfectly fine and healthy following the Lord now, all of the issues I had were externally being pressed onto me and fed to me.

Oppression is More like despair and such.
It should go away after confession, a good prayer life and regular mass attending.
In the case of oppression evil has no legal right to your body, they just stick around you. So the typical tests would thus not work i think, but the more holier you are and the more holiness is around you (mass attending, crossing yourself with holy water rerlugularely and so on), they flee.
Praying for protection aganst evil is useful too. Espescially to Saint Josef and St Michael.
I had struggled mentally for at least 20 years with despair and self del tendencies. It all went away after i gave up trying to fix it on my own and asked God for help.
My husband struggled with depression his whole life, plus with dysthymia (like a chronic depression you can have regular depression on top of too). He was not really a believer, but after he agreed to baptise the children he attended mass regularly because he could feel life getting lighter even in his agnostic state. His dysthymia and most of his depression is gone now!
He officially reenters the Church on this very day, Halleluja!
Do i KNOW for a fact, that this was oppression?
      Truth be told, no.
I just know we struggled hard for decades, only getting slightly better with a lot of work and falling back down again. And when i turned to God, it went away. And my agnostic husband, when he was 'only' around holy things more, without really believing, his dark moods went away too! Though much more slower and gradual, but they lost their grip even though he was struggling hard with his physical health in that time, so it's not correlating with the other circumstances
That is the theory and pernal experience on the matter. I hope you find some anwer to your question in it. Keep on asking questions, and God bless you!

Interesting, I'm a former Catholic, still very very much a believer in Jesus Christ. The mention of Nicole Obry or Aubrey (whichever) is of much interest to me. I (was Catholic) was in the demon possession stage...my house was infested...and I was undergoing physical, spiritual, and mental attacks by entities. It lasted for approximately 2 years ages 13-15. Some of the end activity was witnessed by my mom and aunt. Interestingly, my aunt has no recollection of the event but my mom and I very very very much so. My aunt also "Catholic" by name probably not so much by belief.
Anyway, the reason I'm interested in Nicole Obry is because her exercism is what launched the Roman Catholic church as the premier Christian church...but the fact that surprises me the most is the church listened to Beelzebub in that "only a bishop" could exercise them out. I find this funny...almost as if the devil wanted to propel the Catholic church into prominence? Why are catholics getting possessed? Why do catholics believe they can be possessed? How was I afflicted as a young
Catholic? I believe the answer is this....The Catholic church doesn't emphasize accepting Jesus into your life and body as your personal lord and savior. I know because I had never done it. I did my sacraments....but darkness was still able to enter.
My current state of Christianity affirms darkness cannot live in the light...therefore it would be impossible for darkness to enter. I'm glad the church is out there combating evil through exorcism. ..but I do believe they need to change their way of faith and teaching.
