Except the transmission fluid in that particular Getrag transmission is supposedly lifetime fluid. There is no “drain” to drain it out. I’m sure there is one but not one that is disclosed to the public.
A friend of mine had a F355 back in 1996 and he told me the car had started acting up since he was taking the delivery. But since it was a limited model, he had no choice but to have the dealership to fix the problems and the problems were on going until he was afriad to drive it then traded it two years later. How really good was a Ferrari to him? He would never buy it again.

Thanks I think. My C300 doesn't have that transmission but I think I hear that kind of griding while idling. I'll ask my dealership to take a look at that if that 's an issue. No warning lights yet but it sounds suspect.
problem with expensive cars is that once they reach a certain age and hit a certain price they are bought by people that wont spend a dime on maintenance, cause maintenance costs a lot on these cars.
I had 2 Ferraris and they are both junk. For some reason they hold their value but if you drive them hard they break quick. If you ever wonder why no one drives these hard that's why.
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT! use car keys express!!! I had one of their techs come in and the guy literally bricked my Body control module (BCM) trying to program my key somehow. Ended up having to tow it to the dealership and they kept my car for weeks to fix it. Complete nightmare. Either don’t cheap out and go to the dealer or call a trusted Locksmith. These techs for car keys express are super under trained supposedly.
Well while I would think that that car should be in better condition then it is there is a lot to be said about how it was maintained. The curved wheels, torn leather on the upper dash cluster, speaker grille broken tabs, and loose trunk/fuel door release and fairly dirt carpet tell you a lot about the person who was driving it. That car was likely not cared all that well for. I’ll also guess it wasn’t regularly serviced at the dealer at the prescribed maintainance schedule either, which would frighten me a little since the brake fluid needs changed every 2 years or it crystallizes in the calipers preventing brake function. The leather shrinking on the dash and the sticky buttons are all on Ferrari since those are issues that have plagued Ferraris forever. The transmission issue, well those all all too common, and Ferrari did pass that one on to the customer to rectify. Luckily there are shops that repair them, used to be around 10-12k to repair the common shifter electrical issue causing the even or odd shift pattern. The California is still a good car if it’s been cared for. There are plenty of people that have them and have put an extraordinary amount of miles on them. Still friends with several on Ferrari chat. For reference for anyone interested along with the transmission issue common California problems include premature engine mount failure, convertible top sensor failure, and the common leather shrinkage on the dash, camshaft variator failure, and sticky buttons.
The Camaro key wasnt broken. There was a recall back in 2014 or 2015 on that key specifically. Dealers were told to cut it and separate it from the fob

the gen5 ZL1 key wasn't broke off, it was a recall because some people managed to shut their car off while driving by turning the key with their knee. so they just removed the key off the fob and made a seperate key.
Just remember 2nd and 6th were perfectly fine BEFORE you ran the adaptation, so there is no way there is anything mechanically wrong with those two gears, you just eeded the gearbox adaptation doing correctly.

New to this channel but got to say thus guys pretty good to watch. Keep up the good work fella
Been patiently waiting for new Sam content and of course its a Ferrari lol. Im not mad, but not surprised either ha.
problem with expensive cars is that once they reach a certain age and hit a certain price they are bought by people that wont spend a dime on maintenance, cause maintenance costs a lot on these cars.
13:29 getrag used in Pontiac Fiero .
I had 2 Ferraris and they are both junk. For some reason they hold their value but if you drive them hard they break quick. If you ever wonder why no one drives these hard that's why.
For me the funniest part is the owner of that Ferrari rearview mirror came off they glued it on see that extra glue and cracked the windshield
Sell it to Hoovie .he'll buy anything
Ha ha yes! Crac, Hoovie, Wizard. (The eternal triangle) 😂🤣
You my friend are a glutton for punishment. I applaud your tenacity.
Very awesome Video Sam, you nailed it! 🙌
Thanks!
I'm amazed on how quickly the car went to shit at only 40k miles!
Driver ?
The Camaro key wasnt broken. There was a recall back in 2014 or 2015 on that key specifically. Dealers were told to cut it and separate it from the fob
DDE block beater!
Yep the Block beats them useless 😅
Thanks Sam - Always love your videos. Will stick with my 2005 - $2000 toyota avalon (what I paid) , currently no issues, touch wood. :)
replace the sensor and drive on.... the car has been parked for a very long time, that's why such problems exist, but nothing crazy.
I have same noise in the pdk in my 991.1 carrera S. This happened immediately after changing the engine and gear Coolers. I did the maintenance for the pdk including readaptation. And still same noise at 4 th gear, not always, but annoying
Everyone in the USA who has a broken Ferrari, must just think ‘no problem Samcrac will buy it’.
I bought many cars like you as well and it's an addiction like gambling in Vegas. That 1 lucky win, makes you do 10 losing bets. In this case, a huge "all in" like bet. You gotta be more careful Sam. After all these years I still don't know a personal thing about you other than you were recently divorced. But I hope you keep your feet on the ground in the future. You are spending money like you are Elon Musk buddy 😅 We love you pal and don't wanna see you dig yourself in a hole so deep, you can't get out. You got lucky you were able to kick it out fast enough. What a dent this thing would have made on your bank account 😅
The gm switch blade keyfobs are junk they fall apart so easy for some reason. I see so many of them with the buttons falling apart so often.
2:30 what is he doing on the tablet😂
Hi Sam. Hello from Ireland again 😀. God, I was sure it was going to be something simple again, no such luck. It sounds brilliant, good engine. This car might be a great Fixer-Upper for someone. Good job, Sam. Wicked video 😅👌👍🥰🚗🇮🇪
Hey Sam crack, can you give us a vehicle update? Possibly a list of cars that you have fixed and now own. Also a list of cars that you've purchased to fix and sell. I have lost track of the many cars that you've had. TYIA
Get a C8 Corvette... done
Sam…as soon as I saw the ferrari I knew what kind of video this was going to be. If I were in the legislative government of FLorida I would pass a law prohibiting you from purchasing any more Ferraris! lol! Thanks for the content though!😂
Will Sam finish this car build?
He already sold it with the full information for the same price he payed. So no, he will not finish this.
Pity Getrag has fallen like this. They used to make epic gearboxes like the F28, which was a legendary transmission. I think the Kadett 200tS and Calibra 4x4 used it.
Sam is the bravest man EVER!
"I'm never buying another cheap Ferrari"
8:54 look at the upper arm, the noise is cooming when the arm moves.
Seems like that having that noise was way better than missing 2 gears 😂
Flying wheels almost got stuck with this car after you got rid of it. He got lucky 😂
Hi Sam
Love your content. Build up my confidence to work on my own car.
Visiting florida from Denmark in a few weeks and want to find some parts for my 2015 tahoe.
In europe it is a special car, i belive only two in my entire country.
Any recommendations for junk yards or chevy dealers in Florida?
Need some plastic panels, door wire harness. Etc.
Love it man! You rock!
The cheap hands free speaker speaks to how much the car was cared about, cartoys special lol
the gen5 ZL1 key wasn't broke off, it was a recall because some people managed to shut their car off while driving by turning the key with their knee. so they just removed the key off the fob and made a seperate key.
Just remember 2nd and 6th were perfectly fine BEFORE you ran the adaptation, so there is no way there is anything mechanically wrong with those two gears, you just eeded the gearbox adaptation doing correctly.
Sam finished a car! 🎉
