Hey all!! Just wanted to say I apologize for not being able to respond to all of your comments! If you have any questions you'd like me to answer please head over to the community tab and leave a comment on that post. Thanks for all of the love, support, and tips!! 💖
When you feel like you’re going to fall, lean forward a little and squat with your arms around your legs. That way when you fall you have less of a chance getting badly hurt! A other way is to slide up and put your knee down MUST have knee pads hard to explain look up how to fall lol (Comment this before I just wanted to say this for anyone who just started skating and is in the comment section 😊)
Note: Impalas do not have an adjustable toe stop so that’s why she had to take hers off but if your skates do you can just make them shorter instead of completely removing them! :)
If that dog had gone at you day 1-10 you would have ate asphalt! That’s always a cool show of progress when something unexpected gets thrown at you (sometimes literally) and you are able to handle it with out panicking or falling! Awesome progress thanks for sharing :)
You’ve inspired me to start skating. My mom was a speed skater in high school and now, after I told her I wanted to skate, she said she does now too! So now she and I have a lot to bond over. It’s been 30 years since she’s been on skates, so she and I are starting from square one together. Thank you so much for sharing your journey 💕✨
I'm so jealous of how fast ur learning how to go backwards. But like ur references to the videos plus watching u learn little lessons about how to balance is giving me new inspiration. I guess I havent really practiced going backwards very much. I've just been cruising for years and never could go backwards yet lol so I'm excited to try and start back up lol
10:52 girl don’t apologise because I’ve watched the part 1 and 2 multiple times already and It’s not boring at all . It reminded me of when I first started roller blading :D (now I want a pair of roller skate :/ )
Ordering my first ever pair of Rollerskates from Impala next Friday, I’m so excited and this truly motivates me even more to learn this new hobby! Your enthusiasm and motivation to keep getting better and better truly is inspiring.😊 Edit: I began rollerskating through out last month I skated almost every single day till the snow hit us- I have been working so I skate on the weekends but I’ve ridden my Impala skates so much that one of them is tearing at the bottom and I’ve replaced the stock bearings I absolutely am obsessed with skating and have even lost 20lbs since I started. Thank you Linda for inspiring me to push my self into trying something new and embracing falling before you can glide with grace. :)
That's not a good thing. Your skates didn't break because of how much you were skating, they're shit quality skates. I hope by now you invested in some with a long quality of life.
1. Skating backwards on day 20 and 22: your c-cuts look much better now that you are working with the edges. 2. Moonwalks on day 23: Getting better! 3. Your mohawks are good. 4. Day 30: Great strides! After one year you will be able to skate-dance like Asha Kirkby and Erika Cordeiro!
So I recently got back into skating after 15 years. And I have to say I'm having a hard time remembering how to do the tricks I use to. Transitioning use to come so easily to me and now I'm having a hard time keeping my balance. Hopefully itll come to me again with practice. Your doing great.
Thanks for sharing your progress :) honestly, your video inspired me to take up roller skating again. I've been skating for the last 3 month and still struggle with transitioning and going backwards. Seeing your learning process really helps and now I can't wait to put them on again.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that struggles with transitions! To this day I still struggle with them. I’m so happy to hear you’re picking up skating again!! 💞😭
Dang girl!!! You learned fast!!! In 30 days you progressed a lot! You definitely should be happy and proud of yourself. You’ve inspired me to order a new pair of skates for sure. I used to skate when I was younger but stopped when I moved to Florida because there was no place really to skate. Definitely going to find someplace and get my skate on. It’s so much fun and a good way to get exercise and be out in nature for a bit. I hope you’re still skating and progressing. Keep it up because it’s something you can do for most of your life.
I just found your channel today after ordering a pair of skates and falling down a rabbit hole of videos. I love your attitude and the commentary on things you realized while learning is so helpful. I followed the insta but I hope you post more skating videos too!
Not sure why but this video made me a little emotional haha just seeing how positive and determined you are to get better at skating was awesome. Definitely inspired me thank you
girl,i wanna try skating as a new hobbys😫, this quarantine is keeping me so bored,i might be getting roller skates too tho,btw your content is very inspiring to me to try skating❤️😌
I just got skates today and felt so defeated when I tried them out - I think I only skated for 10 minutes or less. But your video has made me feel like I can do this! And also found a couple other vids that have helped me be a little less afraid (in theory) of falling. Thanks for sharing your journey!
Thanks for this. I know now that 30 days will do the trick. I haven't roller skated since a teenager. Been blading for years, but know I'll be like a beginner again. Waiting for my roller skates to arrive. I have a brand new path behind my house. Can't wait to hit it.
I like that you start the vid by showing yourself falling. I find that as a new skater it feels very awkward to fall and it kinda deters me from skating, but when I see someone else falling that mental block goes away and I feel less embarrassed! Thank you for posting your skating journey its helped me so much!
Loved watching your progress and hearing your tips. I haven't skated in decades. My new skates should arrive this coming week. I'm looking forward to rediscovering my love of rollerskating. Thank you for permitting us to come along on your journey.
I loved these two videos so much! I stumbled across this because my friend and I had just ordered roller skates and you've made me so excited to get them and to skate! It was wonderful to watch your progress!!!
You always feel happy when you achieve something that you think is pretty huge, like starting from square one not being able to even skate smoothly, to now knowing how to skate confidently, . If that dog had been there on Day one you would have been demolished!. I am finally getting my roller skates tomorrow, and you're really going to make me burst of excitement! Knowing that after a couple months I will be able to skate like that too!
i made a midnight purchase yesterday and bought roller blades so obviously i started watching roller blading and skating videos. i cant wait till they come in a week or two 🤎
You are my hero! I admire your tenacity and courage. I ordered my skates a few days ago it should arrive tomorrow. I’m afraid too but the desire to skate/dance is greater then my fear.
I got skates YEARS ago and I've been wanting to get back into it. Your journey was fun to watch! This is great motivation and a nice honest account of what it can look like to learn something new with your body. Hard but worth it! can't wait for it to get warmer here for me to start!
So I'm not learning to rollerskate (yet) but I AM learning to skateBOARD and your enthusiasm for learning new things and your journey diary makes me excited to learn 🤗
Youre videos are great. Watching your struggles are helping me mentally figure out how I need to learn things. Especially since youre going slow and I can see what youre doing

Pleaasseee more skate videos!! Loved this lil doc series you did :D I've been looking into getting skates and these 2 videos have helped me loads thank youuu
Okay, I only saw five minutes of video and I know there’s a lot more to see along with your progress, but I need to say that. When you are going to do a spin, your dominant arm (right or left) needs to be straight to the side and your other arm straight to the front. After that you put your feet in position (the dominant with the front wheels up and the other with the rear wheels up) and then push as if you were going to punch with your dominant arm and with the other arm just close . In case you have already learned this, just ignore my comment :)
I get so tired SO FAST! I am going to try stretching like you mentioned in your first video! You're doing so great and I bet you're even better since this video was posted 5 months ago!
Mine just came yesterday !! Have to loosen the wheels a bit, then I'll be ready to go ! Your videos are amazing and they've given me so many tips ! Keep up the good work !❤️
awesome video! when I started playing roller derby in 2016 transitions were the first thing I got really excited to learn and you're doing great with them. I know helmets are a little pricey (S1 makes a really good one for $100ish) but I've seen enough beginner skaters get concussions from pretty mild falls that I really recommend one!! & Dirty School of Skate has really good videos about safe falling, it's worth spending a couple minutes practicing falling "right" every time you skate to get that muscle memory. We do it in derby to prevent injury :)
Thanks you for sharing your learning journey. It helps to keep me going on my own skating journey on days when I am frustrated with the lack of progress.
I'm amazed by ur results...im damn sure I'll never be able to learn roller skating in less than a month or two but imma try my best. This video made me even more excited to start skating:)
I hope when the pandemic is over, u will start going to adult nights at roller rinks. I wonder if the droves of nonblack women will be too scared to come to our world where we never stopped skating. Plz come join us
I would absolutely love to join adult nights at the roller rinks!! I’ve been waiting for the rinks to reopen in my area but looks like I’ll have to wait until 2021 🥺 thanks for watching I appreciate the comments!! 💞
@@cheunglindaa i enjoyed ur content. Dont stop. U live in so cal and u guys have great rink meetups. I live in nc. We have about 6 rinks in the state that have adult nights. I live in a county that has one but have kids. I will be able to go in 5 yrs, lol
I'm convinced the black community is the only reason most roller rinks are still a float. Whenever I go to the rink there is a always a rich culture there and it's so fun and energizing to be around others who have such a passion for skating and who are having so much fun.
This was awesome to watch. I bought a pair of Zetrablade rollerblades last night and Impala roller skates today and Im so pumped to learn. Also a little nervous at the thought of all the falls that await me. But its all a part of the learning journey. Looking forward to more vids of your progress. 🙂🛼
It is not recommended to remove the brake and leave the base unprotected in this way, so there is an accessory for that, but it only has for skids with adjustable brake (which is unfortunately not the case). I don’t know if you said that in the video because I don’t understand English, I’m just using the translator to speak here a few things I know about skates
I have an on ice figure skating background and I don't know if this applies to roller skating but if you are right handed spinning counterclockwise should be easier (left handed skaters tend to rotate clockwise) given also that your left foot is the dominant one. For smoother transitions you could practice skating on one foot, both forwards and backwards, and mohawk turns. You're doing a great job and your skating has improved so much in just 30 days!!
You have inspired me to learn!! I though about this during lockdown 2020 but I kept talking myself out of it (fear) you did so well in 30 days!! I’m going to get myself some skates watch as many tutorials as possible and practice daily with my daughter!! I know she will get it quickly!! I’m terrified but it’s my dream to learn 💁🏼♀️🙌👍🏻 WELL DONE AND THANK YOU 😊
I love your video I really wanna learn how to state one day but I do have one question: y do you have so many chairs in your garage? I know it’s none of my business I am just curious
My first pair of roller skates is coming Monday. When I was a LITTLE kid I found skates in my grandma's storage closet slapped them on and tried to skate in my aunts skates from HS, I fell and the back truck of my R skate hit my L shin and broke my leg in 2 places, family thought I was faking how bad I was hurt and after 3 days finally took me to the Dr. It was broke in 2 places and separated, almost 3 months in a cast and haven't roller skated since on quad skates so I'm very very nervous but at 31yrs old, I wanna try to tackle the challenge to skate with my 4 kids (10, 8, 2 and 2) my older 2 are showing a lot of interest lately so hopefully it's something we can all enjoy together, going to the closest rink 40 mins away this weekend with the kids and my mom also go herself some skates to see how she does after not skating since HS she's 47 so she's really nervous too. I enjoyed these 2 video and now follow your insta

You actually can adjust the toe stop down with a couple washers, you wouldn’t think it makes much difference but it really does !!! 🛼
I like the transition from "practice makes perfect" to "practice makes progress." Very realistic and healthy change.

I’m going to get myself some skates watch as many tutorials as possible and practice daily with my daughter!! I know she will get it quickly!! I’m terrified but it’s my dream to learn 💁🏼♀️🙌👍🏻 WELL DONE AND THANK YOU 😊
This really gives me the confidence to continue on skating!!! Thank you for documenting this!
I'm trying to learn jam skating too so, I'd love to see your videos and your take on how to learn some moves.
Thank you for the feedback!! I will definitely look into making a video for jam skating once I learn more moves 🥰
I love your video I really wanna learn how to state one day but I do have one question: y do you have so many chairs in your garage?
I know it’s none of my business I am just curious
Im so excited!! because im actually getting my skates today!!
