Also there's a cortisol spike at the beginning when you eat mushrooms, but the data shows that afterwards people are much better at handling stress for weeks afterwards
Was doing cold plunging until may, live in coastal Texas and it was just to laborious to have cold water LOTS of ice had to be bought and the water just is hot coming out of tap...oneday we will afford a plunge that is temp controlled
I love it, it is exhilerating! I do cold dips in the North sea when I can and do cold showers at home. I also need hot baths too. Both help deter inflammation. 👍 I hope to get to Molveno in Jan to watch the Ice swimming World Championships. Thanks Mike.
May be beneficial for women who have hot flashes. Not my case. I swim every day but only in warm water, I can't even go near cold water!!! And my mental health has never been better since I'm constantly in ketosis. On the other hand, I ❤ saunas 🤗
Not only do we do cold water plunges in the UK but it's a tradition for the brave to do a cold water swim on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas Day) and to often do this in fancy dress. It's a charity event in many places. Sadly some annual events that have been going for decades have been closed due to increasing insurance complications. There's also the famous Christmas morning race for the Peter Pan Cup which takes place in the Serpentine, the lake in London's Hyde Park. This has been held every year since 1864. The Peter Pan Cup is so called because author J M Barrie donated the Peter Pan Cup in 1903.
Good thing that I'm very sensitive to certain sounds. I've tried to watch the videos of the person you're referencing, but I can't stand her voice frying, so I didn't get to hear her advice against cold plunges. I love going to the sauna and going back and forth between the cold and hot bath. Who woulda thunk, my misophonia doing something good for me.
I tried going into a cool lake and i literally could not. The moment i put my legs in i got sharp pain and my body become numb and frozen. I think i have some unusual reaction or allergy.
I had this, too, initially. Start slow and warmer. I started with baths at 65° and worked down very slowly. You could start even higher. It takes 3-6 months to very slowly adjust. Once you do, you'll stop having any pain at all and your body will get so much better at handling temp changes in general. P.s., you may be, like me, a High Sensitivity Processing person. 😊
@@Highintensityhealth from one of the doctors I follow. It makes sense. If you've had a heart attack, extreme temperatures may have dire consequences. I'm not going to test it!
@@Highintensityhealth jaja before reading, I was thinking on her jaja.. she has interesting way to put the information. I rescue the idea of doing more HIIT for my "panza" but absolutly Im not vegan..so easy to eat to much carbs.. Thanks.
The cold plunge really helps my arthritis, and has practically CURED my depression!!
Watching you for years now
The only influencer that hasn't aged amazing.
He pre-recorded all of these 8 years ago
I do cold plunges. No problems with insulin. Im 60. I don’t believe doctors much anymore.
At 60 what does cold plunge do for you? I am 61.
I do not do cold plunges, but finish my shower with cold water. The lakes freeze over here in the winter. People ride vehicles on them.

Gonna share this with my woman
Oh... Menopause stuff. My new prediction is i'm going to get in trouble for calling her old
😂😂😂@@swamphawk6227
as a woman that has been taking cold baths for 7 years, i love it
Just cold water from the tap or making it even colder (with ice or something, idk)?
I’m a very active icu nurse that works nights. Cold plunges help me get through the work week. My sleep is more regulated and so are my stress levels.

I haven't swam in ~1 month and I miss it! I've been too busy training with other modalities, but I will get back to it when I can!

Thank you for putting this out as I was starting to believe it might not be good for me because of the cortisol issue.
Cold water "swimming". The subjects were also exercising.
Yo I liked the pun when you said "wouldn't you wanna dive into that"

How cold? The lake I’m on freezes in winter
Love cold showers.

That ‘doctor’ knows nothing about menopause- maybe she’ll be a bit more humble after her time comes around!
It's Doctor Bright. And she is post menopausal. Just FYI.
@@OhioGalReads? I thought it was Stacy Sims.
I have interviewed her, and she’s not overly adament that women don’t plunge, she’s a bit conservative on time and temp.
Thot it was Mindy
I've also heard that if you have a heart issue to avoid them. That's my excuse, anyway 😅
You've heard from who?? This is exactly the problem.

Might have been Andrew Huberman. I've been following him for years. He's done many videos on cold plunge.

Somebody, who’s the doctor Mike is talking about?
Stacy Sims

😂 I bet I know which "doctor" is claiming that. I stopped reading her or watching her videos MONTHS ago. There's no basis for her assertions.

I unsubbed you? How did a do that exactly?
What about cryotherapy
Cryo is also beneficial
