The CW HAS THE BEST SUPERMAN OF ALL TIME

- Superman & Lois is a live-action DC CW show that exists outside the continuity of Arrowverse shows like The Flash, Supergirl, and Arrow. The portrayal of Superman in the series is one of the best in recent years, compared to other adaptations such as Henry Cavill's in the DCEU with Zack Snyder's rendition, as well as the DCAMU. However, My Adventures with Superman also shares some of the lighthearted nature of Superman & Lois. James Gunn's upcoming film, SUPERMAN, which is set to kickstart the rebooted DCU, will hopefully share some of the same elements that make the character so special. This could be a possible glimpse at a new Justice League with the introductions of Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Mr. Terrific.

Tyler Hoechlin set the standard of who Superman is. A genuine, kind, loving, and good person who wants to help the world in any way he can.
Tyler has been the best Superman since Christopher Reeve.
@@billymoore7182after this season he’s pretty much on the same level as Reeve and welling if not better than them .
That standard had already been set in comics and by Reeve in live action, but Hoechlin did an amazing job living up to that standard. Best portrayal in decades.
I couldn't agree more Tyler Hoechlin did Superman Justice I could think of a better person to play him better than him
Not really. He doesn't understand the character as Clark or Superman. He didn't even put effort into the role.
I was not emotionally prepared for that ending.
Him eventually becoming human and still found ways to help, is everything that you really need to know about him. He isn’t good because he has powers, it’s all in Clark, powers or not.
Lois was also so amazing in this show too. You, can definitely feel it in the show how smart she is, and just how great of duo Clark and Lois are.
This Lex was by far the scariest Lex. His pettiness and him being 2 steps ahead definitely makes him the scariest version we have had of any live action Lex.
Edit because I can’t stop glazing this show
@@tundra2861A well deserved glaze, this show has been phenomenal.
@@tundra2861 there is good glaze and then bad glaze
This is fantastic glaze
Keep going
Ok, but why they get rid of the Golden age Superman suit ? some how fitting for this version of Superman , CW should have kept it
@@joezar33Agreed. Also, not sure why his suit was dark in the last season. It wasn’t really necessary. 🤷♂️
Tyler Hoechlin does not get enough love or credit, he is often dismissed due to his big screen counterparts being in the spotlight. However, he is no doubt the BEST live-action adaption and deserves to be in conservation as one of the BEST versions of Superman of all time.
his looks are also why he not given as much credit as his predecessors but his portrayal as Clark Kent and Superman more than makes up for it.
i love this version of Superman so much.
@@sehun2193 What about his looks?
@@punkem733 in season 1, i heard a lot about his suit having too much padding which looks weird for those people but for me it works because a few episodes after that it shows that Tyler's ripped but more on the leaner side of it.
Plus Cavill's Superman had the looks and physique that some fans give him so much credit for because he embodies how Superman is supposed to look.
of the 2, Tyler's Superman is my fav as embodies what Superman is and stands for.
@@sehun2193 Cavill sorry to say SUCKS ass in the role.
Arrow started the Arrowverse, but it was Smallville that truly began everything. The CW DCTV shows all began with Superman, and it now ended with Superman. Talk about coming full circle, am I right?
Amen 🙏🏻
RIP WB/CW DCTV:
2001-2024
This show managed to do what 80+ years of comics, cartoons, and several movies couldn't. It got me to understand why people love Superman. This show made me actually love Superman. And I'm the president of the Superman sucks fan club. But I got to say this did it for me 11/10 show
LMAO Doesnt like Superman but has a Gojo PFP. Glad u switched sides
Welcome to the other fan club. Superman is one of the best and most relatable characters, yet somehow, mostly thanks to bad adaptations in movies lately, the most misunderstood characters.
Same
Easily disagree...Superman is very easy to understand and plenty of great storylines in comics animated and live action...this show basically was a combination of Smallville and Lois and Clark...i like the show but I wasn't a fan of this ending....him being humanized
Superman the animated series was good
Lois Lane's actor is so damn good in this show. Best depiction of their relationship and Superman/Clark I've seen. I'm gonna miss them.
Bitsie Tulloch
Yea been a fan of her since her performance on Grimm. If u loved her here, that show puts her through 5x more shit
@@xudolio and we see why messing with Lois is going down the wrong Lane.
WB and CW DC era, started with a great interpretation of Superman, died with a even better interpretation of Superman, and i'm a massive Smallville fan. legit full circle.
Began* i think is what you meant in the first "ended"
Superman is the main road of dc.
Ill always Pick Smallville over any other Superman!! I just like Smallville a lot more then any other Superman Out there! Tom Welling will always be My Superman even if he only had the suit on for a few Minutes!!
@@PieterBooysen-l7k But Batman still reigns supreme over Superman, no matter which version.
@manehriimao2079 Yea, Batman is my 2nd Favorite Character ever and my nr 1 Dc Character. The Flash is 3rd when it comes to alltime and 2nd at Dc. Superman is my 3rd Favourite at Dc. The Character that beats them all is Goku! Sorry but Goku is just way Cooler.
bro a superman that makes a grown man cry at the end of it, its peak. If people dont have time for this show just watch the last 20-30 mins
Best written Superman content in live action in the modern era by far!!!!
When Tyler debuted in Supergirl i as everyone tought he was meh,
When they announced his show i was like ''No way this can be good with him after the Supergirl performance''
But oh god how wrong i was, it turned out to be only consistent Arrowverse show, Top5 superhero shows of all time and dare i say hes in Top1 fight with Daredevil.
The writers just understood Superman. Something that not many people understand, especially not Snyder.
The ending was just pitch perfect.
Michael Cudlitz’s portrayal of Lex is so good, that he makes the viewer love to hate the character, where as Michael Rosenbaum’s performance is also good, but he makes you love the friendship he has with Clark, but then when he eventually turns on Clark, you understand WHY he did and you feel bad for him
You know what? Best live action Superman ever made. It absolutely is THAT good
Superman and Lois has best emotional ending ever
Me and my wife watch a lot of US shows (in UK), and we watched all of S&L over this holiday break - we've watched some great shows, but we both agreed the ending was the best show ending we've seen to date out of everything, including stuff this side of the pond. The effects in this show are cinema quality in a lot of areas, albeit featuring Smallville getting shot up is cheaper the Metropolis - the final season, the acting, the tears, just epic. Bravo to all concerned, and after listening to some interviews, on a tighter budget than previous season! Epic, not often I use that word.
Bro is by far one of the best interpretations I’ve seen of Superman like he did not disappoint
7:00 I absolutely love the fact that the first person to figure it out was a character that lost his own wife and knew exactly how Lois felt in that moment. Peak writing
People in 2020: Ugh, a Superman show on the CW? This is gonna suck just like all the other Arrowverse shows recently.
People in 2024: My heart hurts… 😢
I love this
Exactly. CW blew alot of credibility with the final 5 years of arrowverse content. If they would have just put out stuff like this, they could have been huge.
Not a superman fan but this show was great. I will miss it.
You’re damn right, Superman and Lois is PEAK!!!
If it ran on like the other dc shows they could have hurt it in the long run. So i am glad James Gunn killed the show at the right time. Because of bringing in his own stamp on Superman Next Year.
Ngl if the flash writer treated the supporting cast the way superman and Lois did we definitely would have gotten more DC shows
Jordan has had the best character development of the entire show, starting off a introverted teen, then getting with Sarah then having powers, my boy was winning
Plus, his character was winny,a simp,screw-up,hard-headed,etc,etc,.my least favorite character on that show.
@ oh come on he’s gotten better at it, and I bet you Jordan and Sarah got married
Idk we got to see grown up Jordan with his family at the end and the woman next to him could be Sarah but only the writers know.
I was instantly hooked with the first episode of this show. Ngl this was the best version of Superman and Lois lane to this date I hope the new Superman movie can live up to or even surpass this new standard
60 + year old fan of Superman since I was a kid with a cardboard box full of comic books under his bed here and I complete agree with you
I grew up idolizing Batman. I grew up in the era of BTAS, TNBA, Batman Beyond, Superman TAS, JL, and JLU. And I think I found him relatable due to the fact he is a human. But as I got older and watched Smallville, MOS, and now Superman & Lois, I see that Clark/superman is the most human. He had been portrayed as a god for so long he felt unrelatable. But especially with Superman & Lois, they got back to what makes Clark so human. He is flawed and admits it. He goes out each day with the intent to do his best and sometimes fails. But he values his family and it's clear his powers aren't what make him Superman. It's the fact that he tries to help in any way he can, and he does it out of the kindness in his heart. He embodies what it is to be a good person who sometimes makes mistakes, but each day tries to do better.
You cannot imagine how cathartic it was when I was running around like I was taking Crazy Pills about how the ideal Superman proudly proclaims "Thanks. My mom made it for me" when a kid tells him he has a cool costume, for years. People thought I was insane, and then this series comes out and calls attention to that exact moment from the comics for the public zeitgeist to see. And they love it.
That was a cute moment in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Tyler my favorite live-action Superman of all time and you are speaking Fax!
They somehow nailed Superman/Clark, Lois, Luthor, and Doomsday all hits, no misses on a cw budget.
The first few minutes of the pilot are some of the most beautiful moments on television. I re-watched it after this video and I still had a lump in my throat, my eyes welled up. In less than 5 minutes they gave us a Superman who we feel like we've all known before and loved.
💯 I was in tears after it ended. Btw Brandon Routh Deserved Better.
He lowkey did
@@MEnterprises01 lowkey? Bro he definitely deserved better.
If we ever get an actual Kingdom Come movie I need it to be him
This is one the best finales I’ve ever seen I teared up watching the finale
I fully agree this show is by FAR the best superman we've gotten imo
I loved Superman & Lois and it was sad to see it end. The final episode was a good send off though that was bittersweet.
Snyder cultists have been real quiet when this show first aired and stayed quiet when it ended
What are they doing? Where are they?
@@alfredborden5675 They currently have their hands full attacking the launch of the DCU.
Many Snyder fans won't even acknowledge it and still crying about Cavil, saying he's the best Superman, when Tyler passed him in the first season of Superman and Lois and lapped him by the end of season 2.
@@kicknowledgesmith8608 I agree completely. I liked Henry's portrayal of the character but the writers didn't give him much and the character didn't even feel like superman. I believe even Henry has stated as much previously. He liked playing the character but didn't like the route the writers went with the character.
@@alfredborden5675right here I tried watching this take but tbh the horrible CW level melodrama turned me off. This Clark with his constant 5 oclock shadow looks off, also constantly see him getting his but whooped and losing to Lex or Doomsday. Then his heart gets ripped out? Huh? How is that possible? He doesn’t have the screen presence or charisma of Cavill. Belongs on the small screen this will be forgotten soon enough
Honestly as someone that had recently watched the old lois and clark: the new adventures of Superman show from the 90s- this Show(Superman and lois) feels like the spiritual successor of that series more than Smallville. One series is about clark and lois relationship grow and end with the surprise of a child and the other picks up with the 2 raising kids.
That ending had me crying! The best Superman and Lois ever. I loved it
Thank you man. I wasn't able to watch this season because for some reason the CW stopped airing the show on Mondays for me and the CW app isn't even working.
I been watching this show since the beginning and is one of the better CW DC shows even with its hiccups *season 2*.
Tyler is my favorite live action Superman and I am glad we got almost 10 years of him as the man of steel. He is one the best actors to ever put on the suit and not sure if he can ever be topped.
This is a sad time with the final DC CW show ended.
Ngl the first moment I saw him in Supergirl, I knew Tyler was made for the role. Even with him being kneecapped, he was amazing, and when this show came out? Vindicated in all the ways. Writers were amazing too.
His parents raised him well, Ending was so nostalgic.
1:58, The closest anyone came to doing this in live-action without completely taking away focus from the compassion, friendliness and optimism that defines Clark was Brandon Reuth's take on the character, which was riffing on the Christopher Reeve's version while adding additional focus to Clark's loneliness as the only one left of his species and always being separate from other beings because of his powers.
Tyler Hoechlin's manages to continue that type of characterization while adding in Chris Evan's Captain America elements for this Clark's sense of honor and duty, some of Henry Cavill's Clark in his action scenes and Tom Welling's Clark in the sense that he feels like he's lived some of his life like a regular person.
In short, Tyler's feels like a quintessential Superman in terms of how he's characterized and portrayed, a blend of various versions taking the best parts of each.
Teaching the boys to fly and the Kessel Run jokes landed perfectly, both times. 😂
As someone who’s been watching these shows since elementary school, my heart feels empty. I remember watching all the teasers for the flash season 1 and being really hyped for it, and once I watched the pilot I was locked in for life.
Superman and Lois is def one of the best portrayals of Superman of all time, and one of the best superhero shows of all time.
RIP to the Arrowverse and the DC CW shows in general.
2012-2023, 2001-2024. 🕊️
I wish Legends got one last season tho. 😢
that ending f#$% me over, like dear lord that was beautiful
He’s my favorite Superman actor I hope DC restarts their animated universe and makes him the VA of Superman. What’s crazy is this show made me like Superman a lot more than I used to.
They said there wouldn't be an animated universe after the tomorrowverse, at least while the DCU is a thing since it contains animation. Could work for an elseworlds project though.
The best superman I've ever seen by far. The whole series was Very good from start to end
I never cared about Lois until this show. She’s written so well in this one, on top of Bitsie’s amazing acting.
And the best part is, she was still Lois, stubborn and headstrong with a nose for the truth, an army brat that grew into the kinda woman that could match with not just Superman, but Clark Kent, not just a hero, but a good man. The show being about them both really makes Lois seem less of a damsel and more her own force of nature
That Ending hit me in My soul so wholesome yet tear drawing
I tend to agree. Hoechlin really captures Superman's goodness and what the character is all about.
I absolutely agree with you this Superman live action, including Christopher
Tyler Hoechlin will always be MY Superman! I loved every scene he had in the other arrowverse shows he showed up on. One of my absolute favorite scenes of the Arrowverse was during Elseworlds when Barry and Oliver first shows up in Supergirl's Earth. Kara introduces Clark to them and Oliver puffs his chest. Barry proceeds to ask, "Are you puffing out your chest?" And Oliver, more serious than ever, "Yes." And Barrys face when he said that just killed me! I love the Arrowverse so much!
All I’ma say is that this James Gunn Superman Movie better be a freaking banger!!! Because if it isn’t and Superman and Lois got cancelled for it there will be riots at WB!!!!
I agree, Tyler is the best Modern Take of Superman in the CW, the entire Superman and Lois series is amazing. I love everything about it.
I grew up watching Chrisopher Reeve make you believe a man can fly. Tyler is fantastic in the role as the whole character or Clark/Superman/Kal and even just as a person in the world and a family man. It's hard to compare to a legend like Reeve but Tyler is so close the lines blur. Season 4 was rocking me emotionally every week beginning to end. I don't know that it can be topped, but I can't see the upcoming movie coming even close
A beautiful finale to my fave TV show of recent years. It absolutely understood who Superman is. It had the powers but it also had the heart.
Tyler was the best combination of Clark and Superman we've ever seen imo. I'm excited to see David's take on them both next year 🙌🏻🔥
Tyler is the best Superman since Christopher Reeve. The way this show ended was well thought out and showed the character's respect. This show wasn't originally a CW show, it was an HBO max show. Which is why it wasn't a TYPICAL garbage CW show. ;) The scene with doomsday also when he was about to go into the Sun, when his eyes went blue and he had control of himself, hit me right in the feels.
STRAIGHT FACTS!!!! THIS SHOW IS EXACTLY HOW YOU MAKE SUPERMAN RIGHT!!!
This show and Smallville 100% have the best Superman portrayals in the past 50 years with a special mention to dean caines Superman in Lois and Clark the adventures of Superman.
The only Superman that has been better was the animated one from the DCAU.
I love Cavill and he was done dirty. But Tyler has proven to be the best since Reeves
Superman and Lois is the BEST live action adaptation of Superman. That ending just solidified that for me.
Glad I found your video. SMan/Kent is one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, probably #1. You nailed the idea and what makes him and Lois Lane so compelling to me. I haven’t watched the show yet, because I wanted to hear exactly this type of relevant and relatable, to how I see these characters, view about the show. Just to know whether the time investment would have a payoff or not. I had to stop this at the “Spoilers” segment, so thank you for including that disclaimer. Thanks again…I’ve got some streaming to do.
This show is on Max, but may also be on other services. Max is where I saw it available.
This show ranks up there as one of my favorites of all time the story telling the actors the emotions it was all done right. I would love for Netflix to pick this show up and give it a few more season similar to what they did with Lucifer and others, because this show is criminally underrated
Tyler Hoechlin made me fall in love with Superman again, then again I just like him as a person and actor so I may be a little biased. He and the writers actually understand the characters and their stories, biases aside. It baffles me how the CW bounced back from the fall of the Arrowverse with this one and people are sleeping on it
There might have been another key to that too...Tyler used to be Ruthie Camden's ex....where he was effectively Pre-Crisis Superman who could sometimes be a jerk, and then here he plays the exact opposite in the modern Superman where Superman's a mask and Clark is the real deal. WB/CW usually used some 7th Heaven stars whenever some things were going down the drain to boost things....it happened on Smallville too, Simon's one of the Wonder Twins...though I never got why he was one of the Wonder Twins....7th Heaven made it clear he was a Batman/Flash fan when not being involved with his other responsibilities including being the family's bank and being the only other regularly good kid besides Lucy and the twins. Surely they could have put him in a "not exactly Batman, but Batman" role due to the embargo at the time or a "not exactly Barry or Wally, but mentor for Impulse" role because of that whole Red Lightning thing being an obvious Flash pastiche.
I cried 3 times while watching this, I never genuinely cried while watching a superhero show and especially coming from the CW 😭
1) Christopher Reeve
2) Tyler Hoechlin
3) Everyone else
The best superman had the shortest seasons
In terms of characterization, they got it down to a T. I wish they had more seasons.
I absolutely love this show and the ending was incredible
To think back that they got rid of a writer who wanted to make one of the twins, trans and focus on biracial couples is dodging a bullet
It would’ve been just like every other stupid CW show that just destroyed itself after like three seasons
Luckily, that didn’t happen and we got a gem of a show over four seasons
Well, done
My fav is Batman and Superman Public Enemies him and Batman SQUAD WHIPPED EVERYONE
I’ve only ever seen clips from this show, but from what I’ve seen they truly do Superman justice
Tyler Hoechlin is literally right there with Christopher Reeve as Superman, and Tyler is easily the most underrated. The only reason he is not appreciated more is because no one gives the show a chance because it’s on the CW.
Because they honored the character.
Tyler looks like him, acts like him, and plays the same emotional arc as Superman.
Yo dog I'm going to say this , THIS IS MY FAVORITE COMIC CHANNEL ON TH-cam! Hands down , I enjoy every posting, man keep pushing these out
I agree 100% this show is a masterpiece. CW has already proven that they can make incredibly well made TV shows based on comics, Arrow seasons 1, 2, parts of 3 and specially 5 are as good as S&L.
I've only just started watching the show but I definitely agree that this version of Superman is a great adaptation of the character. I wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to watch but I'm happy to say I've enjoyed what I've seen so far.
I agree I had no plan on watching superman and lois at all when it first started and I was never a superman fan to begin with but then I saw the trailer and saw how much praise the first episode got so I watched it and loved every minute of the show and wish they continued to give the cw the flash that much love and respect. This show made me respect superman
This show made me genuinely like superman i will miss superman and lois 🙏💯✨️
I'll go further and say after Season 4, especially after episode 7 and onward, he is the best supes and clark, yes over reeves. I still can't believe the dude from teen wolf is the best.
CW Network Superhero Line-up Started with the best Live Action Clark Kent in "Smallville"
CW Network Superhero Line-up Ended with the best Live Action Superman in "Smallville & Lois"
I agree. This is the best Superman interpretation I’ve ever seen. I enjoyed this show.
0:26 every cavill fan in a nutshell
I really loved this show a lottt
You’ve totally nailed it dude.. me and my wife could not stomach anything else from the arrow-verse other than this.. the best interpretation of superman since reeves.. and in many ways better..
The Flash is pretty good.
I totally agree - Superman and Lois was real quality from start to finish.
I binged through it in a week or so, boi that was good.
Lois was not a 3rd wheel, but actually a great character(I'm looking at you Iris West-Allen)
Lex Luthor was intimidating af
Tal-Rho was a total bro
Bizarro, the character with the most tragic story of them all
Doomsday was great( finally)
And Superman was perfect
Except for one part of the season 4 finale, I find him to be the most humanized version of Superman and with excellent sentimental storytelling on display.
8:00 - See that right there, the first thing he says after the reveal is too straight up give an apology. I'm not a big Superman fan, always been more of a Spider-Man / Batman kind of guy, and when I was younger I hated Superman. The guy was like a Gary Sue, all the power in the world and can solve any problem in the blink of an eye, that wasn't compelling to me and I found his evil versions like Injustice, Omni-Man, and Homelander to be far more interesting.
Then I grew older and about 2 years ago when I started to get back into comics my friends finally convinced me to give Superman a try. I'd say I'm a fan now, not like a big fan ready to defend his name at every corner and while he isn't my goat or anything like that it's more of a "we need more heroes like this." Stories like All Star Superman, Earth One, MAW Superman, Superman Grounded, Birthright, For All Seasons, Kingdom Come, Secret Origin, etc.
Those were the comics that got me into him and while he's not my favorite hero, heck even now he's not a top 5 I do hold a respect for the character and I kind of wish that type of archetype was brought back to hero's.
Thanks Arrowverse for giving us BEST Superman since Reeves
This is the series that you show to anyone who says that Superman is boring, overpower, and irrelevant. I love this show. Best live action Superman series ever.
This series is peak Superman for me. Im a lifelong Supes fan and i even rarionalized everything Smallville did that I didnt like because I adore thd character. This series has restored my long dormant adoration of Big Blue in a way i didnt think i would feel again.
Tyler Hoechlin is a phenomenal Superman, and his Clark Kent is even better
Crazy shit is when they first announced this show I was thinking shit was about to be on par with the flash & supergirl (with the teams & nerfing) that first trailer blew any doubt out of my mind james Gunn got some convincing to do with his Superman cause they did they big one with this shit the fact I’m shedding tears over this shows ending is insane
I wasn’t a fan of Superman since I was kid. Then 2020 happened and I ended up binge watching Smallvile with my dad and watching this series ( when it premiered). At 18 starting loving and understanding Superman. And that love is still growing.
I believe this is the best Superman. He is a bit overpowered (super hearing world round, fastest flying speed since '78 Superman turned back time, among others) but Superman has always been overpowered
The fact the Supergirl TV show managed to get two seasons more than Superman and Lois is never gonna sit right with me Lol 🤦
Stop crying fr
Circumstances man… Plus, I would much rather have it end while it’s still good than have it overstay it’s welcome and get progressively worse.
@@comixproviderftw_02Good point
Probably would’ve been sloppy. Best to end it when it reached its peak.
@AlexSummary yeah that's true , best to end it at its peak and not risk seasonal rot like the rest of the Arrowverse shows
Tbh, this is peak Superman in all forms, because you explore Clark through fatherhood, and as a husband. Something you haven't see at this level, even in comics. 2 sons and a wife dealing with cancer isn't something the comics have touched.
I'd like to watch Routh Superman have his own show.
I'm with you on the overplayed have sympathy for the devil type of characters. Also, I'm equally over the anti-hero character. We need to bring back heroes who know who they are and are actually heroes with a good moral compass.
I didn’t watch this show until it was over because I thought it would be CW cheesy. I finally binged it and man, what a great show! TH is the best live action Superman for sure! He’s the one to beat.
Tyler Hoechlin was a phenomenal Superman. He was largely unnoticed by many though due to only being the TV Superman. Everyone I talk to didn't even know he existed.
not even 30 seconds in but starting w spittin FACTS made me subscribe Tyler the GOAT
I grew up with Christopher Reeve as my Superman. In fact Superman The Movie was the first movie I saw in theaters, so he will always be Superman to me. But I have to agree with you Tyler Hoechlin is the best Superman.
Bro the fact that I’ve never seen a full episode of the show, but somehow almost cried when I saw the ending is crazy😂
Tyler Hoechlin's Superman is definitely one of the best live action versions of Superman and the Superman and Lois series is one of the best modernizations of Superman, and clearly understood who Superman is and what he stands for. The series had a sad yet beautiful ending.
