Wood Turned Easter Egg

  • I have made a segmented wood turned Easter Egg. The patterning for the segments is inspired from looking at Ukrainian eggs. I used 4 wood types: Walnut, Maple, Purple Heart, and Padauk. The egg is 6 inches in diameter and 9 inches long. I turned it on the lathe like a spindle and finished up the last end by holding the egg with a jam chuck.

I'm blown away by the size! From the thumbnail in the video I thought it was much smaller.
Also, I'm surprised you've never used a jamb chuck before. I might also recommend a dount chuck, it's super handy!

    • @shroboy07

+Peter Brown I was thinking the same thing about the size.
I also would like to recommend just donuts. Sprinkles optional.

One of the qualities I find in your videos is that you seem to be very peaceful in your work. While you insert frenetic fast-forward shots, many of the shots are you slowly and intentionally moving about the tasks of craft. Very refreshing. Often creativity is not found in the frenzy but no the stillness of the shop
