    I'm just here re-watching Twix falling at 4:32 Lol
    Just a few things to add that I didn't in the video: I intend on adding a cord protector to the filter, none of my rats are wire chewers and haven't bothered with any other wires in the room and they're always supervised but it won't hurt to add one and that would be a recommendation.
    Also I wouldn't use upright willow within a cage because there is obviously a risk of them stepping on it wrong and getting their leg trapped, this one is quite far apart and I'm always with them and watching them when they're out of the cage so I'm not too worried about it :)

    Absolutely beautiful, I recently took in a rescue who is my first official rat of course I researched wayy ahead of time she was a feeder that got abandoned but iv fell in love with her she was stuck in a tiny cage with nothing but pellets she wasn't eating, she is only 6 months old so I really think I can give her a better rest of her life IV only been watching your channel for three months now and I doubt anyone would read this but thank you...and you've givin me so many great ideas to make her happy and at first she was so hungry she would bite me and everything around her but now she is so comfortable with me and I haven't been bitten in over a week and soon I'll be getting her a friend who I'm looking at shelters to pick from currently! This has got to be my favorite channel I watch thank you.!

      Ah, your story is very similar to mine. I found Zacatecas in a dumpster near a big name pet store when I was digging in the trash on one of the last freezing nights of 2021. She was taped up inside a "live crickets" nearly frozen stiff & barley moving. I got her home, warmed her up & she was still unconscious so I forced a few drops of water in her mouth & she came right too & bit me then ran inside the clean cozy box I made for her. She bit me for a while, unintentionally but it didn't take her long to mellow out. I Found Butter Cups in an overcrowding situation & they were married on the first of this year.

    Just finished setting up a big double cage with lots of bridges and rope toys. I was going to build a naturalistic bottom but sectioned out, probably with plants in it, to give the two new rattos lots of interesting things to explore.
    I wanted to make a cage that was more interesting to explore than outside, with lots of things to do including daily scatter feeding and puzzles. There would also be a second box for the isopods to grow (as they will be eaten unlike the springtails) and some spare grass; I was going to use cat grass (the very soft sort, koolkats i think it was called) but wondered if you had a video recommending plants for use with rats? I'm gonna look up more plant info after posting this, but just wondering if you had some suggestions 😊
    I haven't constructed everything yet and as such I'm holding off buying rats, but your videos (along with many recommendations) are very helpful

    i've always wanted to have somewhat of a bioactive? cage (not sure if that's the term) but I'm so scared of bugs but the springtails are not too big so they seem manageable. Do they normally stay contained within the box or have you found stray ones out and about in your home?

    • @coderpup4639
      @coderpup4639 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Springtails are great! They can and some will climb vertical surfaces and escape, but without moist decaying surroudings they will die off pretty quick, they would much prefure to stay in the soil than climb around on dry glass/plastic. So yes it could be possible to spot an escapee now or then, but there would not be a mass exodus unless the soil drys out and becomes unihabitable for them.

    • @jazzyhk1809
      @jazzyhk1809 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

And if so ,are there any herbs and plants that I'm able to put into my mice's dig box! Also ,are mice able to be left 24/7 with a dig box or is supervision required ,sorry to bother but I haven't owned mice before and most research I do on dig boxes doesn't seem reliable.

    • @ilikemice4388
      @ilikemice4388 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also ,again sorry to bother but is the soil the plants/herbs are grown in at shops safe for mice to dig in? And what sort of branches would you recommend putting in their cage that they don't need to be supervised with?

    Hello! I got rats early August this year and they are doing great, but they aren't potty trained. Ever since I got them I placed they're poop into the litter box every single day. To this day they still go outside the litter box. This causes to get poop on the bars and them stepping into it. I don't know what to do, do you have any advice?

    The peas in the pond were a literal "peas" de résistance.

    ohhh that looks amazing! They look so delighted ^-^ I've seen that winerack and was tempted to buy it. But, I was worried it would fold too easily and be possibly dangerous. Is it sturdy enough? The rope around the branch is a great idea, such a great rat mom

      It does fold a bit, the one I had before this once you painted / treated the wood it kind of stuck in place but if you're worried you can zip tie it to stay open :)

    I love this, and the rats seem to be having a blast! I do have a question: I’ve always been concerned about letting my boys “fish” for peas if they have even the slightest sniffle, especially when the weather is turning cold. (I’m not talking about full-blown respiratory illness, which is always treated and monitored carefully, but the times when they have very mild symptoms which tend to resolve on their own.) I worry that getting the face soaked with cold water and having water way up the nose might lead to further respiratory illness. Am I just being silly? I’d love to give them more opportunities for water play, which they love… Thanks for any feedback!

    Your rats were so cute! Cool to see a bioactive mini garden. I hope that the springtails work! Random question: Where do you get your bricks of coco soil from/what brand are they?

    I love this! I made my rats such a nice planted garden and they ate every last plant. I guess that’s the point but 🙁

    I've had wonderful rats but years ago my last rat I reacted with allergy. Is there any thing I can do for that?

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was it affecting your breathing or making you come out in a rash? Some people might take regular allergy meds, use different beddings, make sure to trim rats nails or always wear long sleeve shirts when handling them to make a difference

      @@Emiology Thanks. It was affecting my breathing. I agree allergy meds would help and more attention to bedding.

    Would this be ok as a hamster cage?

    Question? I’m thinking about adopting a male adult rat. My dad found a rat cage a a thrift store (which I cleaned really good) but I was wondering if it was a good cage. It’s about 4 feet tall 25 inches wide and has a wire spacing of 1 inch. (it has three doors) is that a god cage?
