Gardening!!! My garden gives me a great supply of kale, tomatoes, zucchini, peppers!! I shovel, plant, weed, hoe for good movement. The fresh air is wonderful!! Wear your sunscreen when you’re out.😉
I trained at Le Cordon Bleu and worked as a chef for years. When I lived in Asia, I adopted their style of eating small amounts of meat or fish with lots of vegetables over rice or noodles and fresh fruit for dessert. Not much dairy, bread or sweets. I don't like cold salads or greens but I love to stir fry cabbage, carrots, brussels sprouts, onions or roast root vegetables. I don't eat any plant-based substitutes or highly processed foods, drink alcohol or smoke. And most important, try not to eat solid food for at least 4 hours before bedtime.
Most Asian dishes use meat sparingly, mainly to flavor the dish. Meats are hardly ever the main attraction. Dairy is mostly absent in asian cooking. There is no need to use plant-based meat substitutes in a plate that is 75% veggies.
As we age the importance of quality protein to maintain our muscle mass is more important. We need more than you think. I’m 63, female and my functional med doc tells me I should aim for 100 grams a day. I also have improved my bone density back to a level where I don’t need medication for bone loss just through dietary improvements.
We have a bowl of mixed fruit, orange, grapefruit, raspberry, blackcurrant etc. with natural yogurt and a sprinkling of cacao for breakfast and as dessert after lunch and dinner. A favorite recipe is goats cheese heated in the oven until it starts to melt served with dried figs soaked in black tea, or warmed fresh figs in season, and a salad of mesclun, grapes, cherry tomatoes, walnuts and balsamic vinegar.
You can do an entire segment on the health benefits of hydration….my cardiologist suggested 60-70 ounces a day…. Thanks for another informative and entertaining video
We are still experimenting with the air fryer. We do not have a favorite food that we cook in there. It's been mostly vegetables, Brussel sprouts, and I would say at 350 for 20-30 minutes. We keep checking
Red meat is not the enemy. Processed foods and sugar is…
