I played drums from 12 til around 19/20. I'm now 28, have only been behind a kit a handful of times in the last 8 years and have just purchased this kit. I can't wait.

Are you me? I know this was a year ago now but I played from 12-13 up to 18 when I moved countries and only played a few times until I picked this kit up last week at nearly 28. It's amazing how much you retain really. Nearly 10 years of not playing, haven't even touched a kit in around 6 years, yet I'm straight back into it :)

The great thing about these Roland TD sets is that it alleviates the problem of getting drums miked correctly in the studio. Now you can plug your drums right into your board, and forget worries about "room sound",or which mics to use.. You can create your "room sound" with your reverb unit. Also, you can pick multiple drum sets which you can't do except in the largest studios. You can now record EVERYTHING (except maybe a horn or string section) in your apartment, condo or your house with disturbing anyone. These sets enable even the smallest production company to compete with the "big boys".

    Hi Nick.
Like so many others, I loved your review... a lot of information and very little BS. On the back of your review I purchased this item for my children ( and, maybe, me...) You mentioned the phrase " Right out of the box " several times. However you did not mention that this product cannot be played " right out of the box" as it does not come with drum sticks and, more significantly ( and certainly more expensively!) it does not come with a kick pedal for the bass unit! Worthy of mention in an independent review, I would have thought.
You also state that you assembled the entire kit in 10 minutes.....this is plainly not true as you had a kick pedal and drum sticks! Also, as a veteran of multiple assemblies, both furniture and musical, it took me 10 minutes to figure out where the hell to arrange the pieces for assembly ( after taking about 8 minutes to release them from their packaging )
I challenge you to post a real time video showing your 10 minute assembly..." Right out of the box", as you say yourself!
I know zip about drums or how to assemble / play them but I am truly encouraged by your excellent review. Just give us the reality messages too...
Love your relaxed style and encouragement oozing from this review....

what is the difference between TD-1DMK vs TD-07DMK

Hello, PJ! The two kits are very similar, but they come with different modules. There are 15 drum kits on the TD-1DMK and individual sounds cannot be changed. The TD-07DMK, on the other hand, has a total of 143 instrument sounds that can be arranged into kits.
      Thanks for the interest!
