Love the bit about the age thing. I work in office and my colleagues cant get their head around me going bmx tracks and riding thru towns wheeling etc. i feel 16 still from biking. Im 44

Exactly how I feel about realising,at 50 years old, just how much I've missed out on biking.When I was a kid, it was bmx really.No social media so nothing was accessible like it is now.People my age either say they're too old or in some cases, dead.I'm just a big child anyway.
Been following Sam for years and always remember his training jumps built from the top of his families house into a jump to a pile of mattresses 🤙He's been a legend for years. Great to learn more

just talking about those types of head injuries really helps with understanding motivation self preservation and general mental health hearing Sams story reminded me of my first traumatic head injury and consequently the self development since then. Unfortunately the types hobbies sports and professions we are involved in have these down sides to the low moments in participation. However hearing and speaking about the trauma helps the brain to reconnect the dots and move on.. love your show truly inspirational going for a ride..now!!!

So that one thing where Sam says about unable to interact with old friends because he's been around mtb all his life... Anyone else suffer with that?!...
In general, biking aside, our lives went different ways and we have different priorities in life. So if you reunite then you only really have your past to connect with them, so it becomes a nostalgia fest. Helps if you were both into the biking (or the footy or music or whatever), then at least the conversation can always shift to that. I think, also in general, that society is more isolated, more time spent online, at home, or out and about but glued to your phone, lost in our own worlds, keeping in touch with old friends via messages but not phoning or speaking directly, meeting maybe only a few times a year tops. The art of conversation is diminishing, more and more social anxiety is becoming prevalent. It's remarkable to witness, now being middle aged and knowing the before times. I sound old because I am old (relative to someone younger reading this waffle). I don't feel old (though I ache and don't bounce back from injury easily/quickly). I still ride bikes (_bike_: I've only ever had the one at once). I never 'grew out of it'. I don't want what they have (but it would've been better if they were into it too). And that's ok. Our community thrives regardless.

When you start talking e-moto,e-bikes and e-scooters your opening a proper can of worms with that topic. One thing to say is the e-scoots are being ridden by idiots who can't even spell there own name riding them no lights in the dark with dark clothing causing trouble and aggressively riding high on drugs and or alcohol. These people should be the minority but unfortunately it's becoming majority which can effect the sensible e bike riders by being labeled as the same aggressive scooter abusers, I can see the end of unlicenced e-scoots, bikes etc, the law will come down hard and Its all because people thinking they own the foot path and road riding scoots like bloody lunatics, there all gunna be crying when they can't ride without a helmet, speed restricted, probs get licenced so you can prove they are not totally incapable of operating a scooter safely and not like a mad person, I'm sure someone must have been killed messing about cos if they haven't as soon as we get 1 unnecessary death on scooters that will push the bill through parliament and all that freedom you had before will be gone overnight and then they will all regret it when there outlawed and I don't even think they would have the backing of the public which they need, they fucked that not respecting the public on there paths and sidewalks, no respect, scooters will be the downfall and whatever happens blame them bastards...
Important to consider language around things like “boner” logs (maybe to canon or kicker) it’s not really appropriate around kids and girls, but aware it reflects the mtb community being predominately male.
