I'm a few hours in and the game isn't nearly as bad as the subreddit might lead some to believe, but the part I am most excited about is watching more Longball HQ videos
@@longballhq3128 In a non DH game you can't change the pinch hitter position on the offensive side of the ball. Like if my LF bats 8th and my P ninth, so I pinch hit for the P with my backup LF and want the next P to take the place of the 8th hole hitting LF, I can't make that change until I'm switiching sides of the ball and the game prompts me to select the batter I'm subbing out. I think the reason behind this is position players can now pitch, so it won't let me make the 8 hole guy the "pitcher" if I'm not down by a lot of runs. This is a small thing but in the very first exhibition game I played I pinch hit for the P and went on a scoring spree so long that I had to go to the bathroom when it was over. When I got back I spammed my select button and never subbed out the 8 hole guy. Extremely minor thing? Absolutely. Entirely my fault? Also yes. Should it be fixed as a quality of life thing? I think so. Is this far too long of a comment? Yes it is. Hotel? Trivago.
Just started playing Super Mega Baseball 4. My first SMB experience. Having fun, but I'm sooo bad at pitching. I'm just terrible at aiming. I've been practicing. Getting a little better, but I'm still egregious. Been playing pennant races online. Quite fun.
There's a learning curve for sure. Check out my tips vid for smb3 if you want to. Only difference now is you position your aim with the last arrow, rather than aiming at the receiving spot of the catcher. They patched that halfway through smb3 th-cam.com/video/XuzFonzm2Ag/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=LongballHQ
thoughts on the age changes? at first it was a little annoying just cuz im used to the young ones ive come to like and build teams around getting older. But now im liking it much more and appreciate that it is a completely different game. Grace Loopinovich is super old now, Irene fast at 38, oof. just to name a few Ui changes for buttons and stuff were yucky but literally only took me one day to get used to it.
You're ahead of me on the UI, I kinda hate it honestly, but I'll adapt if I have to. Grace being old is a bummer, she was a favorite, Irene too. Obviously some players are going to be older though. It's for sure weird that we have guys aging backwards, but waddayagonnado. At least Longballo is younger now, can't hate that
I play on switch and its tough. There's an option where either your favor visuals where it looks decent but the lag and what not stinks or you favor performance where it runs like smb3 for the most part but looks like crap
As a Grappler fan they look gutted to me. The issue was never the rubber so Black is whatever, and the lineup lost their good traits, Kelby Losing her power and Bambino's RBI Man going to Bad Jumps. They then slapped a level 3 wiffer on Demarco. They get nothing trait wise on offense to make up for it wile every other is oozing with great hitter traits. I guess we are lucky Godsendez also did not get a negative. What really hurts is the Grapplers were really top heavy before, relying on the Star bats to score runs in between hit less innings from the rear of the lineup. It was debatable if the star bats were good enough to carry before and since they have fallen back and everyone else has jumped forward I think it is safe to say the Grapplers are a Duds and Duds team.
What do you mean Kelby lost her power? I gotta disagree on Black, she's a crucial addition; they did have a weak rotation. They're not one of the better teams though, I can agree with you on that
I am happy Eduardo and Zoom got buffed especially with Zoom having little hack because I could not hit with them before. I played a season Zoom finished below .100 avg and was top 10 in Ks despite only playing 13 games. I do feel like the changes balanced out, they’re much more of a pitching team now
Hey, just a heads up there’s a glitch where if you win the championship right now, it causes the game to crash and not save the progress of the game you just won. I wasn’t sure if you were playing ahead and recording behind, but I wanted to let you know so it doesn’t become an issue!
I only know a few of your legends, but I suppose when I can pick the game up myself, I'll have plenty of time to get to know the players I don't. Which team starts with Dave Stieb? I've never pitched a perfect game in SMB3 (had close ones though!) and I now need to achieve that goal with Stieb in SMB4 because it's just necessary.
I talk about that in the video 4:32 basically he's my best option, with Knoblach needing a day off the fielding penalty is the only issue with out of position guys, so brett still has over 50 fielding rating at 2nd base
I recently finished a short season at 85 ego going 13-3 but lost in the championship round🙄 i swear there were innings where no matter how good your pitches were, the game wouldnt let you get an out😅
I just found this video I know it's old but I started playing this game when it hit gamepass on xbox and you can see the last pitch location if you hit a button on the RT menu while at bat. I don't even know if you still play but the feature is in the game.
You're so good at batting and hitting the ball with good contact. How do you do that? Right now I'm in a Pennant Race, palying at 70 - 73 ego and I'm having a hard time putting the cursor correctly on the incoming pitch. Do you use a joystick?
I could see that. It hasn't stood out to me too much yet. It seems like power might have been nerfed across the board, so if a guy is low power and they swing contact, so no power from a charge either, then yeah might be a weaker hit. I think you're right
I wish I finished too, but it just doesn't make sense right now not to ride the hype of the new release. It's not impossible that I'll revisit the Beewolves down the line
That's sucks bro, sorry it's not working for you. I hope they fix it fast so you can play. I got it on steam, I was stuttering too, but not crashing. It seems to run smooth for me with the shadows and shading turned down to medium
You have to aim at higher ego. I typically use power, but I switch to contact with 2 strikes very often, for easier timing and to concentrate more on the zone
@@longballhq3128 Makes sense. Ill ended up giving it a try and saw it forced a pitching sub vs it just being a DH situation. New to the game, really appreciate you following up!
yeah, I'm a bit surprised at some of the changes. I have a theory that metalhead might listen to the vocal minority sometimes, not realizing it, like making the UI huge. Idk who asked for that, they apparently thought it was a thing.
I despise the batting in this game. Pitch is high in the zone? Pop up. Pitch is to the right? It goes right. Pitch is down? It's a ground ball. Pitch is to the left? Guess where it's going. Every. Single. Time. But when I hit the batter in the head with a 375 mph fast ball he hits a line drive home run. It's so predictable and just ruins the game. I think this game has a better use as toilet paper.
I'm a few hours in and the game isn't nearly as bad as the subreddit might lead some to believe, but the part I am most excited about is watching more Longball HQ videos
The game's fun, it's a solid patch away from a great upgrade.

I've been really enjoying the game so far. My only complaints are with the UI and some of the sound effects.
