Hello Love your videos Love how your videos begin with so many trai. Horns, I love train Horns, Also your videos are so educational. I lived in New York for four years. I rode the train on a regular basis, Brother Ron Train nerd
Ah, nice to see you making it down South. You need to get to Raleigh to ride the Piedmont with its beautiful heritage coaches. Cary, NC is a good place for morning passenger action (92, 80, 75).
I was just scrolling through youtube and saw this on my home page and it reminded me so much of my childhood. I would beg my parents to take me to train station just to see the trains pass through. Got hit with a wave of nostalgia and I genuinely really appreciated it. I know that wasn't the intention of your video, but thank you so much for that.
I was just in Fredericksburg last month! took Amtrak from Philadelphia for an overnight stay. than next day down to Richmond for a few days. Fredericksburg is a nice little town to visit.
Interesting consists on the auto train. I wonder if it's bringing a lot of folks back who got stuck when Nicole hit. Many good memories of going to Fredericksburg to watch the nationals minor league team with my oldest son and watching him play there a couple of times with his traveling team. I never rail fanned Fredericksburg because the parade of trains usually passed my office at L'Enfant Plaza when we lived in DC. I usually see the CSX train as it passes by my house on the old Reading Railroad New York short line. I wish someone would clean the graffiti off of the Tropicana refrigerator cars (and also bring back the orange boxcars)
Pretty sure most of M410's train going to Selkirk becomes M426's train that goes to Worcester(Autoracks and some general freight), Ayer(more freight added to it, doubling the train), and then Portland Maine(Terminus)
Great catches! A shame you didn't get any of the heritage units down there, there's a ton of them! I think Amtrak P42s # 160, 161, 130, 184, and 203 are all down there and 46, 100, 145, and 108 are based out of New Haven currently. Also, Carolinian 79 has gotta be the best train to take from NY to DC. I took it down there in September once and we were early to every station. Plus it doesn't make stupid stops like Metropark or New Carrollton, and I was able to get a seat on it for just $26 with the 15% student discount.
@@3985uprr yeah our run down was similar, I think it was 3 hrs 15 mins but we sat in Baltimore for 10 mins but my fastest DC - NY run ever on a non-Acela was actually on the NB Carolinian we did it in 2 hrs 59 mins! Arrived at NYP 50 mins early, but we didn’t have to dwell at stations because the train doesn’t have to meet a schedule after DC.
My last year in the Marines ('68) I was stationed at Quantico and took the train to DC Union Station round-trip two or three times a week, and then walked to Georgetown where my sister lived. Can't remember what the name of the railroad was at that time. Never went south so missed the Fredericksburg Station and beyond. If I wasn't staying for the weekend it was a challenge to make it to Union Station in time for the last train back from DC to Quantico as I recall LOL.
In all those years of taking the Pennsy, New Haven, Erie, LIRR, etc. as a matter of course for "transportation" during childhood and up through age 21 when I migrated West to Colorado after my time in the service, I never thought of it as something to explore beyond simply enjoying the rides and scenery (and my nice little set of American Flyer toy electric trains.) What I'd give now to have that time and freedom to explore things back East as a rookie railfan. Second best is following this TH-cam channel!
I’ve ridden the auto train a few times, but I take it there’s not enough extra cars either passenger or auto racks as backups to run when a train is that late. The one that passed you I’m thinking had to be at least 7 hours late
Looks like with the Meteor being back they cut the Star's consist in half. Good Video as always
Awesome video. Fredericksburg is really quite busy. Thanks Tim for braving the cold rain.😀💚
It was getting harder later
@@3985uprr Oh I am sure. The rain in Philly was getting intense too
A little Fxbg love. Great video .
Super stuff, a nice change . You had rain like we have had in Lancashire for the last few days

Excellent video!
Can’t wait to see you do railfanning with some snow
Right? Railfannning with snow is awesome.
Gotta love the VRE
Didn't know the Auto Train would make an appearance. Nice catch!
I expected SB one. I’ll take it.
Welcome to Virginia!
Great state.
Sorry you didn’t have better weather. Miserable in Richmond, too.🌧

Wow, 200 yards of platform and one bench - Boondoggle!
I was there this summer
CRE V69 sure sounds like he’s got a rod knocking
Can this be? A late Auto Train?

also the M701/M704 consists

I hate those 2 bit stops. This guy was rolling. 3:14 hours NY-DC. Very fast for non Acela.

Are those green and orange containers garbage or waste from incinerators?
Some nice artwork 2 😉
They're like Metra's cousins Lol
Carolinian lost its baggage car?
Shortage until further notice
Guess VRE doesn't do high platforms....anywhere.
Not with those cars.
Woah where did that Late auto train come from I was not expecting to see that
@Jim Allen oh
@Jim Allen Northbound was very late so turn is delayed as a result.
@Jim Allen I didn’t have any
It’s nice to see an autorack car without graffiti on it
How do you find those freight train numbers/codes?
I’ve ridden the auto train a few times, but I take it there’s not enough extra cars either passenger or auto racks as backups to run when a train is that late. The one that passed you I’m thinking had to be at least 7 hours late
About 5 and 1/2
So much graffiti on the freights!
