      1-Liszt composed the grandes etudes BEFORE the transcendentals, as the transcendentals are revisions of the grandes etudes.
      2-this is not a transcendental, and it's not a grande etude. This is the paganini etude no.3, as it's based on paganini's second violin concerto

      I was making a joke, sort of.
      I have the sort of perfect pitch that makes my head assign a key to a song somewhat automatically.
      My head always grouped this particular piece in Ab minor rather than G#, and that would make that note an Eb.
      I assumed this was because of a small bias in my subconscious: my favorite song, Emperor's New Clothes by Panic! at the Disco, is in Eb minor. My head likes that note.
      But you're telling me there is an actual difference?

    Im actually impressed to everyone who can play this monstrosity!
    La Campanella by Paganini was the real song. It was played on the violin but half the song included the piano too. Once Lizst found this monstrosity, he wanted to recreate it on the piano. So he firstly learned who to play it on the piano, next changed a few notes, then transposed it down to G# minor, and lastly, made the left hand. Even though many cant play this, I still pay respects to all pianists around the world.

    I love the dynamic of this piece. One moment, the left is the bass and rhythm and the right is the melody, the next they're both the melody or bass, then again they change, but the left becomes the melody and the right becomes the rhythm. I've always loved it when songs shift in tone like that

    2:08 I like how Raf performed this trill with the 2 notes ONE semitone apart instead of 2 semitones apart. It’s an excursion from the usual people I’ve heard La Campanella and it really reinforces that childlike, yet psychedelic and threatening Lisztomorphic feeling that the piece has.

    I’m always left baffled after hearing this and watching the notes and realizing someone can move there hand this fast🤯 great piece of music but I play piano as a hobby so I’m never gonna undertake the process of learning this Leviathan of a piece. 🔥👀

      The fastest parts, they cannot. Many claim to, but i always see them slow down when they get there. Two possibilities, then exist: 1) Liszt also slowed down a little at those moments. 2) Far more likely, he was one of a kind.

      You might as well try. I’m trying as well just for fun. Turn the playback speed down to 0.25, separate the song into parts, and learn both hands separate. Hope you do try!

      It might be hard at first but ones you get it like you are comfortable at playing this song, you can play it. I was just like you thinking “Man i will never play this song” but ones you practice hard enough you can actually play the song. At the end though when you already know how to play the song it begins kinda boring and youll never know people are amazed...

      You'll get it with practice. Just don't use Midi. Learn it with sheet music and play backwards. (As in start at the end and learn measure by measure)

      I mean winter wind needs super quick finger precision, but there’s not as many large (>10th) jumps at insane speed. Campanella is definitely harder though, not that I can play either :(
