Poor pup was scared - the bright lights, all those people clapping and cheering - she was overwhelmed, but then she realized it was HER MOM !! MOM !!! :)
Dogs use their nose as their primary sense on how they perceive the world. How they get to know other species and the environment! Different from humans who use their eyes as their first, quick response x)!!! Diverse species have a unique order of senses they use most to least is very interesting, and it's cool to learn to consider thinking of how other species first sense response are view xD
I live by the 29 Palms marine base, I have a huge yard and room for more dogs, I’m totally going to contact them. What a wonderful way to give back to our soldiers
I just ran across this toady, 3 years later I guess. Anyway, my son was deployed 5 times, it was hard.. Did you ever contact them, what a nice thing of you to consider doing this for our Military family. THANK YOU, GOD BLESS, LOTS OF LOVE FROM OERGON..
That's such a loving offer!! So how did things pan out in the end?? I am hoping for win-win all the way around!👍🏻 Bless you always for your kindness & wanting to help dogs from military families. Happiness in 2023 to you, from Canada's capital! 🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦
at first im like huh! then i realized we all know what happening, but the dog dosnt,it wasnt expecting her owners return,so she didnt reconize her, then after 15seconds we got what we came for,she roconized her mummy, not a dry eye in the house, love it
That was the best!! And the "foster mama" is awesome in the fact that she obviously took great care of her and most importantly, didn't let her forget her deployed mama.
I am a real sap for these videos, love them. I have seen this dog's reaction a number of times. They don't immediately recognize them by sight or voice, but once they get a good sniff, the dog goes into, "Oh I remember and love you!" It is so cool.
Agreed, glad somebody else noticed as well. She was pretty, fit, well spoken, neat as a pin and elegant; a natural beauty or what they used to refer to in the 70's as an Ivory Girl.
Bless this couple!!! I've worked in this field of rescue for twenty plus years and so this really hits my heart. So thankful someone thought to do this for our soldiers
Bless these military people. Thanks to those caring for the pets. Tears fall. The love between an owner, & their pet is unexplainable. A bond uniting 2 souls. I feel sorry for anyone never knowing that bond/love. A life long love. Till death do you part.
Oh how beautiful. I miss my little girl so much. Everyone be aware of your surroundings. Don't leave your dogs unattended ever. Molly went missing August, 5 or 6th of 2019, and I have not seen her since. In Oklahoma, pet flipping is really bad. It goes coast to coast. I still cry daily when I think of how Molly must have felt. She slept with me daily and never left my side. She never ran off. She is a beautiful baby inside and out. I miss her so much. She acted like Emma after only three or four hours away from me. I hope she knows that I'm still looking and waiting. I'll never give up.
As someone who studies dogs, I find it fascinating how Emma didn't visually recognize her mom... but then the smells came through, and she was like, "Wait... I recognize that smell... wait... WAIT... I KNOW YOU!!! MOM!!!!"
I would imagine the excitement form being in front of the crowd distracted Emma for a couple seconds then like you said smells kicked in then she recognized. Too cool.
All dogs are color blind so that can make people all look similar to eachother in their eyes. Their sight is their weakest sensory. Their smelling and hearing is best
There are very few things that that strike me emotionally, but for some reason watching dog videos like this is one of them. I think it’s because it’s pure love with no hidden baloney.
That brought tears to my eyes she had to smell her first but once she smelled her mama it all came right back to her all the love came right back to her
Great, pretty pup! Sylvia is a hero for taking such good care of this precious pup. And, Thx to Queen Latifah for this reunion & letting us all know about this wonderful couple who founded this much needed organization. God bless.
What a great idea by the 'veteran couples' to set up such a fantastic ngo. What a fabulous foster mom susan has been. God Bless all of them for making Emma's life comfortable.
Proud of this service and what it does for veteran women and men who served. My son was gone over 2yrs and i took care of his large dog's theu were rescues but he had them 3 uts before serving overseas. And they sadly died both within 6 mths of each other of cancer i tried but they passed. Rs
Our fur babies are so important to us. Such a wonderful thing for someone to give their home and heart to another's baby for a year. Must be hard to give the fur babies back. Love Queen Latifah!
did you notice the dog actually had to remember her by smell? At first the dog didn't' really recognize her until the dog smelled her a few times, then went Crazy!!! Great story!
Probably would have been easier for him if there wasn’t a studio full of stranger smells too.. he was getting oriented for a sec and then was like ohhhhh whhhaaaa MOM!
Them noses Are they real deal. I was three month. And when i came home my dog saw me and not much but once she smelled me she peed she was so happy it was insane how how she yelped and cried and would leave myside like it was unreal how she would let me leave her i was scared just to go get the mail the way she cried when i would go to leave. I think she has ptsd now

She did it so beautifully. She gave respect to her foster mother. Acknowledge her first by turning back to her. As if she said "thank you for caring for me." Then she turned and poured on the love to her momma!!!!
What a great Organization to even think about this. I guess you had to have the problem before you could recognize it. This brought tears to my eyes and to my heart. God bless Jess, Emma and Sylvia!
Love it! Another GREAT organization is Boots and Collars: Earl's Hope. They reunite service men and women with the dogs they SERVED WITH while on deployment and many have been adopted by their military handlers! Please thumbs up to give them some recognition! You can find them on facebook!
I live in a Navy base city... and it's very heartbreaking to hear how someone will be deployed and wont be able to keep their animals... or they're being stationed in another City or State and can't take their dogs with so end up giving them to the animal pound. There are so many good dogs that end up there because of this. I think it's wonderful that there is a program like this to temporarily house our military's adopted family members until their return.
KitsuneNeko you might have forgotten about this comment, but I just was dropping by to say that your point is so true. I'm less then 10 miles from a AB myself and our pounds constantly full. I go an adopt the unadaptable, my most recent is a retired TEDD. She had sat at the shelter for months, not even a Sheppard/Malloni (can't spell the Belgian Sheppard's name :/) wouldn't keep her to work with her anxiety. She has a scar on her neck where her first ID chip was removed. I took her home and in 3 months she no longer freaks when we leave, an her nightmares have become few and far between. My boy is an airmen's that had to give him up, there's been 2 dogs I've had to keep for different reasons. Got abit rambly sorry :)
Masters dollie: I think what you're doing is heroic and no need to apologize for being "a bit rambly". You give our men and women in the Armed Forces less to worry about when they have to leave their beloved pets behind. Thank you for your own service to those who also serve to defend our country. Take care. :0) DBB
Donna Blackman thank you, im just doing what I could do. The hard part are the elderly ones, I've had 3 pass in my care but thier owner's knew it was coming, one to cancer, one the night I got her and one the morning his human was due home. That is the hardest an most haunting one. I've had 23 dogs and sometimes 4 at a time. I just took in a 16yrs old cat, I'll only have him for the length of basic though. I'm also unaffiliated so the food an vet checks comes from my own pockets, I don't mind it, many times I get a checkbook from the owners so I can use the owners funds. Those cases are usually older animals and need lots of meds. When I'm not sitting I rehab an rehome strays or shelter animals and I've had around 10 of those. The TEDD I adopted is training for my "ex" to be his service dog an is brilliant with it. I also received word that the amstaff's human was being sent somewhere the dog couldn't go an asked me to keep him permanently. I've had to do that too, sometimes when they returned after years they ask for a visit and then want them back, and its hard to let go but I have every time. I have to look at it as making room for the next furbaby. :)

I cried a river! I was wondering about other pets. Maybe we could have somewhere for cats to go as well. I'm a cat and dog person. I loved that I could find a home for my dog, which I have one, but I also have cats. Just an example. I am in a military family, but never served. My son is a former Marine and for him, i would take any pet, but not everyone is that lucky. We live by Camp Lejeune N.C. So many dogs and cats are put in animal shelters because of deployment. Cats too! Maybe help people with cats as well.
My dogs are with a Dogs on Deployment foster and we finally reunite with them in March. It's been a long 2 years while my husband is deployed here to Bahrain with us.
Aww... you can tell that at first it doesn't click, the dog doesn't realize it's her, and then the second she recognizes her... she is SO EXCITED. Like the reaction a human would have if a loved one came back from the grave. This is so sweet :')
Salute to Shawn and Alisa Johnson for starting Dogs on Deployment. It must be hard for a soldier that have a dog/several dogs to make calls to family and friends and ask them if they can look after their dog/dogs while they are on deployment. And it must be hard for the relatives and friends to have to say sorry I cant take the dog/dogs because of work etc etc.
I watched it mainly because I'm a big queen Latifah fan , she's beautiful and has so much love in her heart and it shows in every role she plays in. But the reunion between owner and dog was just so beautiful.
Oh my goodness, I'd never heard of Dogs on Deployment! I'm a veteran myself, and have taken pleasure in continuing to go to Church on base (2000-2007, due to permanent benefits), volunteering there, buying coffee for the deployed through Cup of Joe for a Joe, and little things like that, that make me feel like I'm still in the Air Force. I am without a pet since my Precious (Himalayan/Siamese cat) died in 2010. I'm a lifetime cat lover (and wonder if they have this for cats too), but with my little apartment I may see about taking in someone's smaller breed of dog while someone's away. This is just a wonderful thing they have!
Tractor Supply Company Awesome, I may look into this when I'm not on the go so much. I think I run around too much right now, but I'm sure that's just a chapter in my life.
I love that you can feel and see the Love that her baby had for her mom. Good job to the family friend that cared for her baby, And for the soldier Woman I salute you for your bravery in the army hats off to you .🥇🎖🐕🏆🙏 And Queen Latifah 👍🏼 Awesome
it's not possible to watch this video and not tear up 💛 I can't imagine not seeing my dog for a year, last time i left her to my mom for a week and it felt like forever.
Ms Latifah - I have been a fan of yours for the longest time .. I think you are amazing in every way. Watched almost every one of your movies and this clip has me in a ball of tears for the reunion of mama and doggie and foster mama too. I just had to add that I am a Queen Latifah fan of note - guuuurrrl you make all us women proud ..
For some people that make statements that animals are just that, an animal that is unable to have feeling of emotions or pain. Those people have never truly experienced the unconditional love of having one. This says it all. Awesome! Pass the tissues please!
How can you not feel some sad emotions for both mom & foster mom. & then happy joy for mom an Emma.. My son is a soldier an not only his wife an daughter miss him terribly but his boy Kaos misses him just as much. Active 6 year's at the end of each year there's a little break before next employment an at those down time's we have watched the utter joy Kaos shows when reuniting with his dad. Although it's a happy moment to see it still crushes my heart because we can't explain to our pet's that they are not being abandoned an their parents will return. An the soldiers that work with soldier k9's that have to leave those dog's behind is just cruel to the heart. No amount of comforting can stop that heartache. As much as we love our pet's I can't even imagine that type of good by.
Totally got me QL... I love the way QL paid so much attention to Sylvia because it would've been easy for her to get lost in what was going on. Wish the camera would stayed on Emma and Capt. Jempson the whole time to show the exact second she realized who was in front of her. What a great idea Mr. & Mrs. Johnson. I'm happy any time I see the media focus on soldiers, their families & the sacrifices both make. Not enough of it as far as I'm concerned.
why do the animal ones get me even more than the human ones ......onion alert!!! this is an amazing charity. wish we had it here in UK for our boys and girls on deployment . British and American troops, thank you for your service 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧 ps when reunited my dog did exactly same as Emma. huffed with and ignored me for a few seconds 😂
This was very moving to watch !! This was about a woman and her dog ! But shows there are people out there that do have good hearts ! Wish there were more !!
❤️ LOVE this video. It. Is so heartwarming to see there are such wonderful people who established this service. Then found such 🥰 loving, caring individuals to care for these precious animals of those serving their country. Anyone who has a pet knows how devastating it would be to find someone to care for your BFF for an indefinite period of time.🥰
Poor pup was scared - the bright lights, all those people clapping and cheering - she was overwhelmed, but then she realized it was HER MOM !! MOM !!! :)
I was worried for a second. Then the doggie recognized her and went nuts! So precious. Thank you for your service!!!!!!!!

There's just so much going on around thee dog, she has to find her bearings first. Then she realizes... :)
No worries puppy just had to catch the sent and they kno thats mommy's home
I was worried too. It takes a while after a year.
She didn't recognize her straight up..but then when she did... try keeping those tears in.. Lovely story.
Oh my ,10 years later I'm balling like a baby. Once she recognized there was no turning back. Thank you for your service.
God bless all of the folks who dog sit for our soldiers when they’re deployed.

The dog was too overwhelmed by what was going on, at first. But when she realized who she was looking at, it got real.

Wonderful people to take of these beautiful dogs thank you
Thank you Sylvia-and dogs on deployment
Thank you Sylvia-and dogs on deployment
I started thinking, "oh no she doesn't recognize her mom" then 2 seconds later all cuteness breaks loose. Love it!
It's amazing how these this couple found a foster mom while her owner was serving in the service. now she gets to be reunited with her dog

What an amazing lady for fostering Emma and helping her keep in touch with her during her deployment ❤️
That dog is not paying any attention to anyone except her. That is so cute.

Wow this service woman is absolutely stunning. Loves dogs and looks amazing in uniform 10 out of 10
Agreed, glad somebody else noticed as well. She was pretty, fit, well spoken, neat as a pin and elegant; a natural beauty or what they used to refer to in the 70's as an Ivory Girl.
When the human race honors the bonds of love above all things, the world will be a paradise. Thank you everyone who helped this happen.
This made me cry more than when military wife's meet there husbands.

I thought dogs could smell their owner even from a distance.
TheSuperk25 I think the dog was distracted by too much visuals.
Erin Stangor I commented on a similar response already, but I also study animal behavior and found that fascinating as well :)

I watched it mainly because I'm a big queen Latifah fan , she's beautiful and has so much love in her heart and it shows in every role she plays in. But the reunion between owner and dog was just so beautiful.
Lol she kicked them shoes off!!!
This is great for people to do this for the military sholders this is something I would love to do.
I love this show, even had people in the audience crying... smh
Love Queen Latifah
I have always loved anything Queen Latifa
Lavenderrose73 They do take cats as well!

Awesome, I may look into this when I'm not on the go so much.
Don';t you just love the way a dog shows how much they have missed you. Welcome home mum ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow i just can't hold my tears back.😭😭 What a beautiful story. 👌🇿🇦❤️
An emotinal moment for both Emmas mom and her foster mom she made everyone cry ❤️
The dog was like, "Huh? What? Where am I? Oh- OH IT'S YOU!! OMG!! I MISS YOU, HOOMAN!!"
Just beautiful, a dog is humans best friend and a dog will always be loyal to their owners till the end .got me started for sure ❤
Animals love you unconditional. They are there loving you through everything. God bless you four service and welcome home.
British and American troops, thank you for your service 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧
ps when reunited my dog did exactly same as Emma. huffed with and ignored me for a few seconds 😂
This was very moving to watch !! This was about a woman and her dog ! But shows there are people out there that do have good hearts ! Wish there were more !!
What a great idea! At first Emma did not recognize her Mom or her scent. It took about 5 seconds because Emma was so loved and well taken care of.
❤️ LOVE this video. It. Is so heartwarming to see there are such wonderful people who established this service. Then found such 🥰 loving, caring individuals to care for these precious animals of those serving their country. Anyone who has a pet knows how devastating it would be to find someone to care for your BFF for an indefinite period of time.🥰
I love how dogs realize after a few moments who their human family is...
