5:30 I mean, the 918 Spyder was using 11 year old tire technology, too. Both cars are closer to each other in terms of tire tech than they are to modern day tech. That 918 Spyder would destroy a Carrera GT if it also had modern tires.
@AutoOctan3 Well Doug's point is that a Carrera GT beats a 918 once you put modern tires on it. Yes, the 918 is 8 years newer, but it's not exactly new. It also uses relatively outdated tires in comparison to modern ones. My point isn't that the 918 is newer and better, it's that they both have pretty bad tires by today's standards.
Viper held, and holds, a huge number of lap times and it set records in each generation. Not sure why the dismissing of it keeps coming up. The 7:01 ring time was private individuals, no factory backing. Tires were an issue because Kumho was the only one willing to try making a street tire that could handle the downforce. Exactly!! Everyone is amazed about the $300k Ford Mustang setting a quicker 4 second lap time but everyone fails to mention the ACR which held the record for American cars for 7 years. The Mustang had all the necessary parts, team and more there for the car. The viper didn’t lol, it’s extremely impressive for the Viper and the team that organized it the viper event, including the driver said they know the car can get a sub 7 min time. 7 years later and it took ford to make a 300k Mustang (lol), for Chevy we’re still aren’t sure but if the C8 ZR1 is quicker it took them a mid engine revamp with TTs and a automatic transmission to keep up with the ACR viper.

For just $35k, Elantra N is always the answer, for Kenan at least: modern tech and safety features, reliable, low cost maintenance with the longest warranty in the industry, out handles and out performs his M5 in every metric, without any downside to driving the hell out of it daily. With 918, the market getting into heavier high performance cars (EVs...) might actually help its laptime more with modern tyres than Carrera GT. Back then, hybrids were new and EVs not really a thing in lap record chases. Tyres will have come a long way for heavy fast cars.

Not sure if you guys covered it yet, but there was a recent article in the BBC called "Jaguar Land Rover electric car whistleblower sacked" for publishing concerns about VinFast cars. You might wanna check it out.
As someone who lives around the Hudson Ohio area… there is in fact a LOT of nice cars. I was on my home one day from work when I drove past a Countach
Your discussion about the driver and his unreal skill really opened my eyes. I had not really thought about that type of stuff although im a car geek that religiously praises plays racing games and simulators.
I did 10:21 around the ring in my 90hp sbox. So even if Doug drives his GT very carefully, sub 10 is definitely possible.
My greatest car spots back in the day were probably a Saleen S7 in 2003, a zonda in 08/09 and a RUF CTR in 2012 I think. Never seemed to have a phone in hand, always in the “Hamptons.” Also the only place I’ve seen a Ferrari on the side of the road with a for sale sign on the windscreen.
"It doesn't emit" - No... it does... just elsewhere, and before you even bought it.
You guys must have the A/C cranked up to 65 degrees in the Doug Shop! Like wintertime in California!
Oh I have bought an Abarth on Cars and Bids. That car was so much fun.
Viper with cup 2 rs would be truly a beautiful, tear jerking sight to behold.
1:06:01 Wow Doug the type of guy to pronounce Cuyahoga correctly
1:04:21 So Kennan is from Hudson and Max Jobe is from North Canton. NE Ohio is representing car culture
Cars and bids promotional with DRIVER 61 WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!!!
Beats the BMW XM by a wide margin. Had a GLC 63S for a couple of years and loved it. Perfect combination of practicality and V8 fun. Happy Holidays! Coming back to SoCal soon? 😉
I have seen the gas gauge on my 2012 Range Rover actually move as I was driving. Admittedly I had blown out half the fuel injectors and was nursing it back for service. 6MPG Baby!
Another cool thing about the valkeryie is that it is 3 tenths of a second faster around Silverstone than the fastest ever gt3 car to lap the track
Edmonds has a nice Cayenne Turbo for sale in Plano Texas with 1 owner, Metallic Grey, 70,000 miles at $28000 !!
The fact that Kennan listens to Watercolors is a big W. lol
14:29 that moment is when they decided to make next car spotting video . Kool.
Doug talking about the Porsche Carrera GT around the Nürburgring and saying he could do at least at 10 Minute Time makes me want to take Doug to the Nürburgring since i myself always drive on there during Touristenfahrten
But in general the Guys should go there one Day and for Ken i can especially recommend a Friend of mine who as a BMW/Nürburgring Job races BMW M5s (all Types) around the Ring where People can jump in and have an insanely fun but also scary fast Lap. He even does this when it's snow-covered or raining
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
Jeremy Clarkson ran 9:58 in an S-Type and he had next to no track experience. He would for sure make it into the high 8's.
Can anyone take their car to the Nürburgring & do laps?
Also, how scary is it to ride with your friend on a fast yet scary lap?
Please give insights as it’s so interesting!
I think they tried the AI racing at Indianapolis and the cars couldn’t go a lap, and one may have crashed I believed
Kennan is on the spot with the Evora, sorry Doug bad advice. The gremlins in the Evora GT can be deep. You may have to do a gauge cluster at every oil change. They last like 4k miles.
I have a Macan Turbo and I truly think it’s a great choice for Kennan! It’s pretty reliable, the size is perfect, and PDK makes a huge difference compared to the torque converter auto. Plus, I think the Macan Turbo drives better on the road (where most people drive) compared to the Cayenne.
The Valkyrie is an f1 built car Doug lol. Adrian newey of Red Bull designed it! That’s why it feels like one.
In terms of leasing a fun daily and not expensive, but fun; Kennan should look at a WRX manual, in black (hides all the cladding and doesn't stand out.)
I swear I commented to put up acoustic panels, and all of a sudden the audio got a LOT better. I know you have millions of subs but I personal will take responsibility for the better audio.
Kennan questioning British Cars and doing a Spot-On German Impression makes me (a Bavarian German where BMW is coincidentally from) now announce that Kennan is officially an Honorary German-Bavarian
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
36:00 for all the conversation about the Valkyrie versus Formula One, when the car was designed for Le Mans. Guise, guise, guise! There is so much more racing beyond F1.
but it project had more focus on f1 legends, Adrian Newey as designer and then Max Verstappen. It isnt open wheeler but F1 has better reach in terms of ads
Kennan is the type of guy to iron his socks
Since there was a Balaboni edition Gallardo, maybe we'll get a Temerian edition Temerario.
For just $35k, Elantra N is always the answer, for Kenan at least: modern tech and safety features, reliable, low cost maintenance with the longest warranty in the industry, out handles and out performs his M5 in every metric, without any downside to driving the hell out of it daily. A beautiful manual experience with adaptive dampers that gives u top handling or comfort witht the switch of a steering wheel button! If one can get over the cheap badge stigma, (I have and love every moment of it) nothing beats this fun car at any speed experience per dollar spent... 🤔
Thought the 918 was sub 7 minutes? 6:57 and therefore faster than 7:12
It was 918 Weissach Package. Standard 918 did 7:13
15:33 lol they actually just built a brand new Mitsubishi dealership by my friends house in Tampa so they can sell 0 cars
918 Spyder ran a 6:57 on Pilot Sport Cup 2. Check the Wiki list dudes.
It was Weissach Package, standard one did 7:13, recheck the list dude
My dream garage right now is a 958 cayenne turbo, and an evora 400 with a racing stripe 😮
I'd love to know what the what a T.50 does around Nordschleife
Let's see about the Temerario. I don't think it will be as successful as the Revuelto, because it doesn't have the V10 and it doesn't look nearly as cool.
Carrera GT for the win 💛.
David E. Davis started Automobile magazine, and Jean continued after his passing. Jamie Kitman of the New York Times was also on staff, and they set the standard for car magazines.
My connection was with Jamie Kitman. He and I both enjoy the music of They Might Be Giants, and we discovered each other through social media. They were to perform at Central Park, and I was in NYC at the time. I couldn’t attend, as my wife was under treatment for cancer at Sloan-Kettering. He promised to introduce my wife and I to the band when she recovered. Tragically, I lost her in 2019 after 20 beautiful years. I hope to one day meet with Mr. Kitman at a TMBG concert one day. I wonder if he remembers…
The Valkyrie is a modern spaceship on the road, it's as insane as almost any other big exotic car would be in it's time.
Shout out to Hudson, Ohio! Let’s go
A 918 on new tires would be faster around the ring - but I know which car I would rather have.
My Civic Sport tires are perfect but older… I’m going to hit up Honda for some fresh skins…
Doug needs to get a 170 Demon. It will go up in value. Not a huge amount in 5 years, but go up. The C8 ZR will probably go up also. Not a huge amount, but at least go up.
If the CT5V Blackwing gives you range anxiety have you considered the CT4V Blackwing?
You want to see how crazy the Nurburgring drivers are? Watch the 919 Evo record lap. Scary fast!
Oh yeah another hour long pod to listen to while at work
Someone should remind Doug that the original Ford GT40 had the body and chassis designed by Lola.
With 918, the market getting into heavier high performance cars (EVs...) might actually help its laptime more with modern tyres than Carrera GT. Back then, hybrids were new and EVs not really a thing in lap record chases. Tyres will have come a long way for heavy fast cars.
W north east Ohio talk
For $8k you can probably get the cars and bids logo on the drivers socks
