I’ve always been dumbfounded by Messi’s insane jump as a player from the 07-08 season to the 08-09 season. It feels like there should be at least two or three seasons between his excellent, impressive, and eye catching 07-08 season to “what the fuck is this guy better than Pelè?” in 08-09. Videos like these help me bridge those seasons together more because he had almost every ingredient you could ask for in a forward in this video, but he really put it all together the next season and never looked backed. A documentary about Messi’s summer between those seasons would be incredible. From Great to Goat
That's why my focus is on his early career. Everyone has seen Messi in his prime, but how did he get that good? Summer of 2008 Messi was away with Argentina for the Olympics, but he did play a few club friendlies before that.
@ericpierre7456 That is also an observation, i also made back then. When Messi broke into the side 2004. Dinho was all the rage & rightly so. By 06/07, he was beginning to overlap Dinho. By 07/08, he had raced past him. After 09/10, he was now on Pelé, Cruyff, Maradona, level's. Messi remains. The greatest runner with a moving ball, I've ever seen. Exercising, such out of this world control on a moving ball ( Better even than Pelé, Best, Cruyff, Maradona), at such incredible speeds, with lightening, quick touches. That are ultra tight to his feet. Enabling him to twist & turn, between the lines of defences, that are tightly woven. Making it look all so easy, in the process. I still regards Pelé, as the most complete player I've seen. But Messi, is the best player, moving with a ball at his feet, I've seen. The speed & fast touches. Bruce Lee like!
By 2007, Messi was already the bpitw regardless of who won the ballon d'or. Its only injuries and focus on teams that won the ucl that kept him away from being yhe youngest ever to win the individual award.
Absolutely brilliant game, I wish I was there!! Messi and Ronaldihino at their best, although for a few moments I thought I was watching WWE due to some of the tackles coming in at Messi!!
Aside from the brilliant passes/dribbles, just the way Messi is able to play football like the main character. 5:28 - 5:36 He's gonna win the ball back all the up on the freakin edge of the line. 12:22 - 12:29 the ball isn't out of bounds until Messi says it's out of bounds. Ronaldinho: (scores over and THROUGH a freekick wall) "Take it easy, kid. You're gonna wear yourself out playing like this☺"
Best channel for true Messi fans
Facts😎
Yep
The commentator said : 18 months ago you could tell that no one can outshine Ronaldinho, but he's got second billing to messi now.
In this game he set record for the most dribbles in a single Laliga game ever with 15 dribbles.

That’s right he was at the Olympics. Obviously Pep coming in helped the whole team too but man Messi just turned it up a few gears that season
