Sadly a lot of modern trainers nowadays only care about profit. They run trainees like another team driver and anything the trainee gets hung up on is brushed aside or only covered enough to pass some stupid company specific test. This was my experience and other people I've talked to who are still fairly new to the industry.
Thanks so much for the brief explanation! Took me three months to get the hang of this. Wish I would've known about this video sooner! You rock Junior!!!
Thank you for putting out these videos for folks to study at home, before they ever enter the industry. I drive for a small company. Been driving since 1984. And I've just learned a few new nuggets . Tandem sliding is a subject you can never do too many videos on. I would encourage everyone to watch and re-watch these in the comforts of home, before embarking on training in real time. Tandem sliding can be a miserable frustration and waste of precious drive time. Soak up as much of this as you can, in the comfort of home . And you'll experience less "information overload" when you finally meet the trucks for real.
I really appreciate you watching and thank you 👍 I also hope this video helped in answering the bridge law as far as tandems go and what hole to be in.
Junior, thank you so much for these videos. I leave for driving school next Monday and I've watched a ton of your videos. They are really helping me get a good idea of the career I'm getting into and they're definitely helping prepare me for school. You're awesome, brother.
Thank you for all you do for us I am extremely grateful for your support i am a new driver first load first weight by myself better said with you and me I am a success thank you thank you.
I always check both sides of the trailer to make sure all the pins pop out sometimes the will stick...the old glove on the ground trick will get u close to the hole u want..
Thanks for making this video Junior,I never knew about supplying air to the trailer and then pulling the trailer knob back out will make the pins lock. I try to learn something new everyday out here.
Extremely helpful video! Very informative. I was laughing at the "whenever you pick which hole you want to be in" and "whenever you get to that desired hole... you push"... very funny but I know what you mean.
Amazing video junior!! Best vid ive seen on youtube about sliding tandems and i got like half a dozen in my trucking playlist, this is the absolute best, clear explanations and you make it easy to understand, thank you.
may I please say something my Honduran brother. you are the consummate professional. you have so much knowledge listening to you is like going to truck College. your style is smooth but authoritative. and you don't talk down you talk up.😉👌✌👌✌🖖
Hi Junior. Love these instructional videos. Thank you for the effort you put into them. Even though this video is a year old now, I hope you will still see and choose to answer my 2 questions. 1. Am I understanding you correctly that you must reset the tandems for the states you are driving “through”, meaning you will reset your tandems at a state line (if required) no matter if you are delivering to that state or just passing through? 2. How did you decide that you wanted to set this trailer on the 13th hole? Is there a specific reason you chose 13 instead of say 12 or 14? Thanks for your time. Safe travels to you.
I really appreciate that 👍 Thank you 😎 and yes to answer your questions: 1. The only 2 states that this really happens in are California and Michigan and yes I reset them prior to going in and after I leave the state (if needed) 2. IF I set this on the 13th hole I think I was only using it as an example but you never want to go past the 12th hole. Each trailer has a sticker on it saying what you can and cant do but you never go beyond the 12th hole ever. I hope I was able to answer your questions and again thank you for watching 🇭🇳👍😎👍🇭🇳
My second questions is the same for Michigan: you say put the pine in 6th hol or above , if I don’t know yet the weight of the load I have in the trailer ? And thank you so much for your videos congratulations.
These pins and sliders can get a lot corrosion and rust on them. If I knew I am loading a heavy load, I would lube the pins and the slides with 90w oil. Then I would slide the axles all the way forward and back. After loading it then would be easy to slide the axles without ripping out the clutch or driveline when adjusting the axle spacing. Way easier. You could probably use WD40 or some other spray lube as well.
Thw trailers we use here @Prime Inc. I always account for 400lbs each hole. Anytime you move forward or backwards you are moving 400lbs each hole. I really appreciate you watching and thank you 👍
Forgot to answer the why? Because you may be too heavy on the trailer axles or drive axles. So you want to shift pounds from back to front or front to back. 🇭🇳👍🏽😎👍🏽🇭🇳
Junior u should be the head instructor for Prime. In depth video's explaining it all. Now that's the kinda trainer i would like to have. And from ur last update video , ur right West Memphis is bad. I'm from Memphis. Have that tire stick ready u come thru here lol. Keep up the great job Junior
I always walk around make sure all pins are out after sliding, also in most states you can go over 12000 pounds on steers depending on rating of your front axle and you don't go over the 80000 example steer 12500 drives 33500 trailer 34000
Junior Honduras I just started a job in yard I'm still in My learning process but I have problems backing up ... I get confused which way to steer when I back up ... I'm driving one of those hostler trucks
So when u Released the trailer brakes the pins pop out then u set the trailer brakes again and back up or pull forward to set them in the hole. Did I get that right. Thx. JR your the best.
Ok California wants you in the 6th hole but if if you need to slide the tandum back to take weight off the trailer what do you do is state law more important then weight being correct
Hey Mr. Honduras..What up?😁 Hey I'm with Schneider and just started. My Walmart trailers are old and the tandem release handle style I have is the one you pull out by hand and then pull down into a groove to lock. Not like yours where you just push the button in the back there by the tandems. My question is can I still lock my pins from inside my truck like you do with your style trailer & release handle. I have an old 2017 Freightliner Cascadia. Well 😃that's all folks! If you could answer be much obliged. Thx my Brotha & Cheers, take care👍
You taught me more in 13 mins than my trainer did in 3 weeks. Thanks
Thanks, still relevant 4 years later.
It’s sad that I learn more from him on these videos than I do with my actual trainer smh
Sadly a lot of modern trainers nowadays only care about profit. They run trainees like another team driver and anything the trainee gets hung up on is brushed aside or only covered enough to pass some stupid company specific test. This was my experience and other people I've talked to who are still fairly new to the industry.
That's embarrassing.
I AGREE 100%
Same
😂😂😂 it's to pass the road test take your money and you are on your own.
Thanks so much for the brief explanation! Took me three months to get the hang of this. Wish I would've known about this video sooner! You rock Junior!!!
Omg, takin me a time as well, def good video
why dont they teach this in school, along with understanding your first trucking check and all the break downs
I’m a female driver and I was over weight on my rear tandems .. you have no idea how much you helped me with this video
So what did you do to set the weight
@@Gouravsharma-pg9uu move them towards the problem. Backward to shift weight to drive axle
Thank you finally a full video on how to slide tamdems with the tamdems slide button.....saved my ass from complete embarrassment
