I've also noticed that. Until the late '90s the show looked almost as crude as SOUTH PARK, although the animation of the talking characters' mouths at least improved greatly after the first season. The yellow skin of most of the characters has also gone from almost ochre to a dandelion shade.

In the earlier seasons the Simpsons was more like a proper family. In later seasons, it just seems more like a group of roommates living together. I still love the show though

The Simpsons character that changed the most is Jamshed, I forget which season he first appeared in, but he's Apu's nephew/son of Sanjay (who, in the early seasons, was Apu's co-worker at the Kwik-E-Mart). Jamshed began as a kid of about age 4, he re-appeared about 20 years later as a 24 year old hipster.
At least he suffered the same fate as Edna Kraboppel (I can't spell her surname, ha) and didn't get a controversial replacement. I mean I wouldn't mind if Apu's replacement was a Mexican American Citizen, but even I know that won't sit well with everyone in all spectrums of society.
Early Homer Simpson sounds alot like my late grandpa. Who coincidentally, also had a wife name Marge. In fact, he and Homer have many similarities now that I think of it. They both just kept getting dumber the older they got.

I disagree about Skinner. I thought the reveal about him being an imposter just added to his character. I honestly often forgot entirely that he wasn't the real Skinner, and when I did remember, it just gave him more depth.
Homer hated Bush senior. Not very political in the early seasons all in all, which made him likeable, as people with political agendas (left or right) are disgusting to the point of making every normal person vomit. Ive noticed that politically oriented people almost always have a personality disorder that makes them demand other people to see the world same way as they do. Thank god Homer was never like that.

I'd rather watch season 1 than the vast majority of the later Simpsons episodes. It's totally lost the flair as to what made it comedy gold. For me the golden era was Season 3-8
The Skinner episode was the jumping the shark moment for me. Still had a few good hits afterwards but by the time the 2000’s rolled around I stopped watching altogether.
Nothing on Apu?! The biggest change on him was the once social commentary on immigrants and their adjustment to the States which is no longer addressed due to SJW and woke politics. I've been done with the Simpsons because they once set the bar and no longer take any risks. "You either die a hero or live long enough to become the victim" is now you either end after seven seasons as the best comedy show EVER or you stick around or slowly begin to die and become less relevant.
