    You can look like anyone. Bottom line, the recruiters are looking for a "certain something". Not everyone has "it" I'm not sure what it is. But I was hired as a mainline fa immediately. But the fa's work as a team and able to work on your own and be your own boss. And be able to handle any situation thrown your way. The recruiters know who they are looking for and hire them. Good luck!

    thank you this!! i’m thinking about this but have no clue if it’s right for me. i’ m 20 yrs old and think this career might be perfect for me for the next decade or so, but what’s the schedule like once you get promoted to higher levels? When i’m 30 or so, and have kids, etc… will i be able to manage a flexible and healthy work-life balance?

    • @ajw_3153
      @ajw_3153 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yes because your seniority will be at a point to where you can preference your schedule the way you want it. A lot of the more senior FA’s get 2-3 weeks off at a time because they get awarded what they bid for. They might work only at the beginning or end of each month and have the middle of month of, for example.

I’ve been thinking for a few years about applying but never knew enough to take that leap. I have one question; I’ve been thinking of going to University for a degree & was wondering how difficult it would be to be a flight attendant & go to school. Would you recommend getting to a more senior status before starting school?

    • @happylittlelife
      @happylittlelife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      hi there! thank you for watching! and honestly school and being a flight attendant in the early stages would be close to impossible ☹️ your schedule will be too all over the place. after gaining some seniority I believe it would be doable but I wouldn’t recommend it for now

  • @HeyItsMaggie3
    @HeyItsMaggie3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    • @happylittlelife
      @happylittlelife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thanks for watching! and essentially yes you choose regional or mainline because its different when you apply. reserve and line holder is not really a choice, its what your seniority can hold. and they would prefer you didn't have runs in your pantyhose but no one is following you around checking lol

    So what I’m hearing is this career field sounds good for single people lol. Because if you have a family they can’t travel with you. How does it work if you have a husband and kids? Like I know you said it’s a monthly schedule.. so can you move your family to where your “home base” is? Like if your home base is Philadelphia… you may have to fly out of town/state or country for the days you’re scheduled to work.. is that how it works? And then on your off days you can come home?

    • @happylittlelife
      @happylittlelife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it is great for single people but people with families also make it work.. I think the most important thing to remember is when you're needed at the airport, you need to be there. past that, your free time is yours. so if you want to pack your family up and move them, then by all means do that lol but if you want to live somewhere other than your base and just go to base on your work days, then do that. in the beginning is the hardest but once you get a line (a set schedule) then its a lot easier.

      summer is kicking our butts! lol it’s very tough right now because of so much travel. lots of flights falling apart and delays etc. honestly, my mental health has been in the trash for the month of June lol but I’m getting back to myself. and for the CJO on the spot I told myself I am not leaving this place without that job! lol and it paid off, I was honestly just myself and made jokes, and had fun.

    If you're a commuter and on reserve and don't get called to fly that day, but have to be there say 4 days in a row on call... who pays for the hotel? Is that on the FA or does the airline give you a certain amount of nights to use per month?

    • @happylittlelife
      @happylittlelife  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you commute, that's strictly on you as the flight attendant. we use these places called crash pads where a bunch of FAs can pay monthly for a place to sleep when they need to which is cheaper than a hotel each time.
