    My Nissan Pathfinder have the same P0340 and stalling, cranks long, etc. Did replaced camshaft sensor to no avail. Did some research and found Nissan have a recall for stalling issue. It calls for ECM relay replacement. I ordered the relay (less than $10) and it fixed my problem. Do replace the relay before buying the expensive camshaft sensor.

      ECM relay is located in the engine compartment fuse box.

    Dude as a former diesel mechanic having a 345 on my nissan and the same weird symptoms and issue popping with VDC/Slip and some times ABS I was so lost why those would be tripping on a cam sensor fault. And not having access to a good diaq was rough trying to pin point what was going on cause I had JUST redid the whole front brake system a month prior and started to second guess myself like ohhhh crap did I mess up the ABS on those wheels and cause a problem now cause I didn't know the codes were just C1109 and C1130. I didn't want to do the sensor til I know for sure I don't like to just throw parts at broken vehicles til they run right. Thanks to you posting this and it randomly popping in my suggested I now know the ABS/VDC/Slip lights are all just low voltage faults from the stutter of the cam sensor faulting out and is nothing. You just saved me an expensive diaq fee thank you so much for the awesome in depth video.

    Takes a little longer but I remove the fender liner and it is right there. Some of us ,with bigger hands, need a little extra room.
    I have seen this tubing issue a number of times so I stay away from that area as much as possible , and I work at a dealer. Nice call and testing done in this video.

    Nice work Ivan, the C1130 fault code is a common DTC on Nissans when there is an engine issue. I have had Qashqas in that just log this code and it turns out to be blocked exhaust back pressure sensor pipes. Keep up the good work

    You're awesome. I just pulled into AZ, had the codes pulled, and both sensors were throwing codes. Yours was the first video that came up. All the same symptoms. I'll watch out for hoses. 🤨👍

    Awesome! I just came from an emergency call on an infinity f35 with p0345 and it's buried under the throttle body on the drivers side on that one and I couldn't get the connector out lol. It was way easier for me to go to the ecm.cleared the code and I scoped it and had the same pattern when engine was cold...was running great then the cel came back on for the p0345 and the signal was lost! This video confirms my diagnosis! Thanks! When I won't be doing the sensor install I always second guess myself and check out the TH-cams afterwards lol.

    I have a nissan xterra 2005 and the same thing is happening to me that this Pathfinder has. Nearly all the lights are on the dash and the engine light sometimes comes on or stays off. Stalled on me 4 times last night while driving, was hard to control the steering wheel when it shut off. Its got to be the Crank Sensor or the Camshaft sensors. I'm so happy I finally found a video on this! I spend nearly 1800$ trying to get it fixed at a nissan dealership yet they didn't even fix the sensor, as a college student on a budget...its hard. I don't even want to take it on the highway for fear of it going out infront of a semi-truck. But now I can get it fix, THANK YOU!

    Great Video Ivan, I've just replaced a heater matrix on one of these and came across the nasty plastic pipe syndrome - the heater matrix are a common failiure as they get blocked up due to the very fine water ways in them, plus if you have the diesel engine fitted it takes the EGR cooler out at the same time due to lack of water flow in the circuit making it look like the head gasket has failed.....so watch out Niassan owners!!!!
    Always enjoy your posts Ivan

Start back up cut off when slip vdc light came on. I already replaced bank 1 can shaft sensor. So I replaced all three sensor. Even the one on transmission. I also noticed I tried to pass another vehicle car started to stutter no power I figured it needs new spark plugs and coil. After replaced all sensor took battery cable off let set for 10 mins no lights on . About hr. Driveing light came back on . Will do a complete tune up see will it help. Nice video. Dude.

    I have a 2009 Vibe with AWD. If anything causes an engine trouble light, it automatically cuts off the VDC, AWD and traction control, giving you the "Christmas tree" of lights on the cluster. I found out that since it is only a 4 cylinder, it does this by design anytime the engine goes into limp mode because all of these systems require power/torque from the engine which is now running at reduced power. It can scare the hell out of you to see all those faults. Can happen for something as simple as a bad O2 sensor.

    My 350z had the same P0340/intermittent stall issue last year and is a common failure on Nissan engines. The slip and TCS lights go on when the stall occurs. The other 350z owners on the Nissan forums recommended replacing both camshaft position sensors and the crankshaft position sensor since they claimed that those parts would probably fail too. They also recommended that I use the Hitachi sensors rather than the cheap aftermarket sensors. BTW, Autozone sells an aftermarket camshaft sensor (for Nissan) with a lifetime warranty for ~$100 but some people on youtube claim that sensor fails prematurely. I bought the three sensors on Rockauto for ~$100 plus shipping but I only replaced the failing camshaft sensor at first. The other camshaft sensor failed about six months later so I also replaced the crankshaft sensor while replacing the second camshaft sensor. The hardest part about replacing the camshaft sensor on a 350z is removing the funky Nissan connector from the sensor. It's hard to remove the connector with one hand but it can be done without removing the throttle body and other air cleaner parts. The crankshaft sensor is very easy to access from the bottom of a 350z and can be replaced in less than 30 minutes.

      thanks I have had new camshaft sensor.. same fault that returns, got ripped off by toyota who claim to have put in new ecu. took it to auto electrician who took my money said it was fine. Then spoke to 2 auto electricians both said that need to replace crankshaft sensor same time as the camshaft as they work in unison together... guy who is coming wed seemed to know what he is talking about.. which would be incredible if he fixed it. Its been two years, its really scary if cuts out when driving. Last time it wouldnt restart when engine hot.... for 2 hours stuck in a fuel garage middle of the night. I am so tired of it.

    I replaced the exact sensor (P0430) on my 2010 Frontier about 6 months ago after experiencing loss of power. Ran great for a while. However today the truck stalled and experiencing similar issues, it only has 76k on it but I’m starting to suspect the problem lies either in a bad ecm relay, or IPDM. Once I find a fix I’ll be sure to update.

      If you have a six cylinder engine, there should be two camshaft sensors and one crankshaft sensor. The people on the Nissan forums online recommended replacing both camshaft sensors AND the crankshaft sensor when you get this failure since the other sensors will fail too. That's what happened to me.

At 175,000 Miles, this Truck runs perfectly smooth until the intermittent stall & loss of power happens. Within seconds or minutes it restarts and I'm good for another 24 hours +/-. BTW: When it loses power, the brakes and steering are gone, this is very dangerous and it has happened to me.

    I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier 4x4 3.3L V6. It all of the sudden would just not start. It threw the P0340 Code so naturally I had the County mechanic replace the distributor because that is where the Cam position sensor is; well, it still didn't fire after that. I saw another video that said this code could also be caused by the Crank position sensor, so i ordered one of those and it hasn't arrived yet. I also ordered a knock sensor because I also got that code a while back when I was having misfires and needed to replace spark plug 6. It is winter here in Northern MN and my truck is a long ways away from civilization parked in the snow. I really need some help with this one.

    Recently purchased a preowned 2008 V8 LE. My brother in law has a 2011 Armada. The driving dynamics are totally different. The Pathy V8 is faster, shorter turning radius, and gets better gas mpg, because it weighs about 650lbs less. It was wholesaled out to me, because of a few maintenance issues. Couldn't be happier. It's a blast to drive and other drivers back off once they see the V8 emblem and hear the exhaust note, lol. One thing I find strange is that the Tow-Haul button synchronizing the transmission during towing was not available on the V8? Such an option was on both the Armada and Titan. Can anyone answer this?

    Great job description. I have a 2006 Pathfinder when driving my gages start to intermittingly turn on and off I can hear the circuit relay clicking while the engine is idling abnormally, was wondering what you think it might be? Please advise.

      hmmm well if you know which relay it is, get a wiring diagram and see what controls it :)

    Dude, that whole coolant manifold thing made of plastic SUCKS to replace. I had mine shatter while 50 miles from the nearest paved road. Same on Nissan for making such a critical part out of cheap plastic.

    I had to change my neighbor Frontier that has the same engine. I took of the passenger front tire and wheel well fender and it right behind the catalytic converter. I think that way was easier to do.

    So I was able to replace the sensor and I'm still having the issue. I replaced the lower one. Not the upper one ? Did I replace the wrong sensor? This one required taking off the wheel and inside fender trim.

      May want to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor instead of camshaft one?

  • @tony17102d
    @tony17102d 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I replace the Cam Position sensors both B1 and B2 by going over the top of the engine. Had to use a step latter. This way you do not get near the heater hoses on bank 1. It will only take about 10 min and you can use both hands-on Bank 1 passenger side. Drive side Bank 2 is about the same.

    The symptoms sounded eerily similar to my Chrysler when it first started acting up. Great video! Man you dodged a bullet with those cheap plastic pipes!
    Also, at around 8:16, why are the fuel trims 101 and 102? I thought the trims measure in percentage and they peg out at 25ish. You didn't seem bothered by it. Am I missing something???

    • @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics
      @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +MattsMotorz Yo Matt! Yeah I noticed those fuel trims too. I think it's just Nissan's way of representing them. Think of 100 as 0% so 102 would be +2%. Hah I was about to take on a test drive...and then BAM! The broken coolant pipe was a curve ball for sure.

    Last time I had that problem ford Ltd the E clip off the vacuum advance rod came off! When it advanced it touched the points shorting out fuseable link! Wouldn't start then! By the time I got there link cooled off car started and told her she was nuts! Third time out I drove it sure enough, died won't. Start! Figure link out right away. Took a visual of distributor 3 days later to find clip was missing! Replaced ran fine!

    Hi, great video. I had to ask you for help my 2006 pathfinder. like a month ago going down the hill, the car sounded terrible so I did stop immediately and check all the basics and find out that all the cooland was mixed with the engine oil, the truck was taken to the mechanic to get fixed... Then when I pick up the truck I have error P0340 with, ABS light, VDC and slip, but also 4H and 4L are not engaging. I will review the camshaft sensor on bank 1 based on your video. Do you have any idea why 4x4 system is not working? thank you.

    Hey Ivan, with that cam sensor being an integrated circuit, wouldn't an open in the ground wire also produce a flatline zero? I'm just curious. Wouldn't it be like "unplugging" the circuit board? Nice video as usual.
