I've collected church cookbooks for years, and my favorite entry to date is from a tiny town in West Virginia. The recipe stipulates NOT to drink the bacon grease left in the pan. Whether that was an inside joke or it was a serious warning based on experience, I love being part of the church family that shares it. There's more than delicious food to find in these treasures!
Love, love, love your southern church cookbook recipes. We have been making your cheddar biscuits since we saw them in one of your videos as well as your salmon cakes. The biscuits are so fluffy and delicious, they don’t last no time. Also, love the spicy salmon cakes, which goes great with the homemade tartar sauce. I do my tartar sauce a little differently with one cup of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon dried minced onion, and 1 tablespoon of sweet or sour pickle relish. Also, we are planning on trying your key lime truffle over the holiday :-) You keep bringing us these great recipes. Thank you
Being a Southerner living in California, you made me homesick for the biscuit mix, the Mueller's egg noodles, the salmon patties, your y'alls, and your darling accent!
As a Canadian who somehow found my way here, I found this so entertaining and can I just say…adorable. Your sweet southern accent, the traditions, the food. All so warm and cozy. I definitely laughed and smiled when you said “ya’ll, these biscuits, they will have you whispering in church about what’s for lunch!” Big love from the North!! Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to make it to the South one day to get the real deal experience ❤

In the Tex-Mex corn potato chowder, Mexican processed cheese is probably the Mexican velveeta. Thank you for sharing these! Definitely will have to try😊❤️Love all of the dishes you make and share with us!😊❤️❤️
I had church dinner today. For church dinner, I ate meatless lasagna that was cooked by my aunt Becky, a chicken leg that was cooked by my aunt Susan, two grape tomatoes, some corn, a roll that was baked by my aunt Judy, and a pretzel that was baked by my cousin Sarah. For dessert, I had strawberry cheesecake. I got very full after it. I got so full after eating it. Daddy had some roast beef that was cooked by my uncle Andrew and some of Judy's rolls. He had the roast beef with onion salt and the rolls with butter. For dessert, I had strawberry cheesecake. I got very full after eating all that delicious food. When Andrew took me and Daddy home, I told him to hurry up because I was feeling sick. Andrew then said, "sweetie, you'll feel better in a couple of hours." When I got home, I threw up a little bit, but I was well enough to go to church tonight. My tummy still hurts from eating way too much. I know, it doesn't sound like a whole lotta food to you, but for someone as small as me, that's way too much food.
NOT being condescending at all, please say "milk" again !!! Sounds so sweet and reminds me of a very good friend from a long time ago. Your video made me smell and feel Sundays after church down home. The world is so different now, was waiting to hear a "bless their heart". And yes ma'am, it IS all y'all ♥️.
To save you time, the next time you make the key lime trifle, you can buy the nature valley brand granola in a bag already crushed😀any leftovers you can use in yogurt
My mamma always gets me her church’s cookbooks when they come out (We don’t live in the same city) & boy are there some great eats in those! (My church too!)
I'm a Yankee but moved down South when I was 17 and learned how to cook Cajun. Blacked Eye Pea Sausage over rice is one of my favorites. It's pretty obvious soak a bag of BEPs overnight, add sausage that you have sliced into medallions, diced onion, bell pepper and the spices that you like (we like spice, so Tony's is key). I make my own broth and use that until the Peas are covered either in my stockpot or Crockpot. I cook it until the Peas are tender. I made rice with my homemade brother and, of course, cornbread.
My oldest son used to make this casserole for the holidays. But we won't be enjoying anymore because my son home to be with Lord on October 24,2022. I know you said dip but his was casserole. But it was delicious.
I simply love your videos and all the recipes. My husband has also been watching. He said it reminds him of his early elemetary school days in Georgia and all the good food people made. His momma, aunt and many neighbors all went to the same church and potlucks were a way of life. I am trying to find his childhood cookbook so that he can create his fond memories now. It was early 70's Wood Valley in Morrow Georgia, I think Presbyterian. I am not 100% sure. Have you or your viewers ever come across this cookbook?? If so would anyone want to part with it?? I would very much like to make this Christmas. Thank you.
I have sound no problem here!! Oh my gosh love everyone of your recipes!! Just good old recipes to make!! I will probably make everyone of them! Thanks so much for the recipes and the step by step directions! Great job!!
Thank You so much for the chicken casserole recipe! I have made countless over the years and they always missed something. My Mom made this when I was a kid and finally I’ve got it! I was missing the sour cream!! Excellent! My belly is SO full of nostalgic goodness!! Thank you!!
We just polished off a tray of those sliders! We aren't big on ham so made them with turkey instead, but otherwise followed your recipe exactly. Holy YUM! This is going to be a very frequent request here from now on! They're so good!!
hi I'm new to this channel. I love cooking simple southern recipes. I'm definitely gonna try the sliders. I had a idea to do a turkey casserole. I'm gonna do the traditional chicken one but change to turkey and add some dried cranberries to the stuffing mix and add turkey broth. use cream of celery soup instead of cream of chicken. it will be like thanksgiving in a casserole.
Was that the one she used that had cute little flowers on bottom of dish? If so, I loved that too! And regarding her brownie dish....guess I didn't realize, is there a certain size dish you're supposed to use when making brownies? Obviously I've not made many. That was my Mom's specialty- she used a box mix, but doctored them up somehow and they were amazing and everyone's favorite! My boys usually wanted her brownies instead of a birthday cake. We just lost her 6 months ago, 3 days after our 30th Anniversary, and 6 days shy of her 76th Birthday...And she suffered sooo badly, it was almost cruel to watch her TRY to fight those last 61 days, but she was miserable and she had already endured so much medically, her little body just could not take anymore. She deserved a much more peaceful passing. Still haunts me everyday. Naturally I'm still a total wreck, (AND sadly, we also have our youngest son in Heaven.. It does comfort me though when I think about & I'm 150% sure HE was first to greet her at the gates of Heaven....😥😰) But I'm just kicking myself too, for not asking her more about her specialty dishes..about her life in general. Thought I knew as much as I wanted to know....Wasn't until she was gone I realized I still had a ton of questions for her. As far as family recipes go, She, like my grandmothers & great-grandmothers, great-aunts etc- NO ONE WROTE ANYTHING DOWN!! Now, I'll never know.... Just never imagined the huge void we'd have in our lives without her. Our son's been gone 10yrs as of August, we're still trying to process that as well. It is a HARD JOURNEY to walk down. VERY lonely bc it seems like no one really understands. So many act as if we should just be "over them" by now. A parent NEVER gets over losing a child. And as an only child, My Mom & I were truly best friends- not sure I'll ever get over her either. Just glad we have our FAITH, or Idk how we'd get thru this.....😞😞 **Sorry...didn't mean to tell you my life story..It was just the subject of brownies that got to my head and I just started venting. Your mother was so blessed to have you taking care of her,so sorry for your loss of her and your son it must be hard, I wish my mom and grandmother had written more recipes down I only have maybe 8 they were both great cooks ❤
Try this if you like the Brownie dish. Ok you still need to get the cooked pudding, cook your pudding per the microwave instructions on the package. I have been making these with ham and Swiss, butter, worshie sauce and everything bagel seasoning! 2nd option I make is with roast beef & cheddar, same topping then dip in Au jus sauce! So delicious!

I'm from wise va. You will need a 9 by 11 pan . put gram crackers in the bottom 1 layer mix up 1 pack of chocolate pudden 1 container of cool whip . Gramcrackers and chocolate pudden and then cool whip put in frig until gramcrackers are soft .... ENJOY
Hey sweetie!!! Everything sounds yummy. I used canned tuna instead of salmon in patties. It was delicious!!! Let me know if you try. It’s also cost effective. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Reminds me of when we travelled as a singing group round the church circuit. Had many pot luck dinners. I was especially taken by one sister's cinnamon rolls .... like heaven they were.
I made the ham sliders. Only I use Muenster cheese instead of pimento. My recipe calls for Swiss, but I’m not fond of Swiss. They are a hit. I’ve also made them with turkey or roast beef and they are devoured. Love these recipes.

That is so funny! That’s the best part about a church cookbook!
That’s so funny we had a gentleman at my Church who would dip his biscuit in warm bacon grease 😅❤

Oh I’ve got to say is Yum Yum
I have made the brownies no extra egg n instant pudding. I’m going to try it this way!
I cut the half in half again (squash casserole) and bake it in a small loaf pan in my air fryer.
Does anyone know if Velveeta cut in cubes can be frozen?
I wish I had that cookbook!
I make my cook and serve pudding in the microwave. So easy.
Reminds me of when we travelled as a singing group round the church circuit. Had many pot luck dinners. I was especially taken by one sister's cinnamon rolls .... like heaven they were.

Funny that you sound like the gal that played Annabelle on Heart of Dixie.
Love your videos!
I made the ham sliders. Only I use Muenster cheese instead of pimento. My recipe calls for Swiss, but I’m not fond of Swiss. They are a hit. I’ve also made them with turkey or roast beef and they are devoured. Love these recipes.
They say root vegetables always done in cold water. Just wondering if it changed them in the recipe. I love your recipes. Thank you.

One hint: Grate your own cheese. The caking agent in pre bought shredded cheese, changes the consistency of the biscuit. Any recipe actually
