Thumbs up and thank you for doing this video!
My experience: 2004 Tundra Limited, engine was running rough, I added Seafoam to crankcase and fuel. All became worse. Exhaust started smoking bad. Got confirmation it was coolant coming out pipe - cracked head gasket. Was given estimate of “thousands” by mechanic. Spoke with a buddy who has a rural town inexpensive mechanic, who has had 3 out of 4 successes with Blue Devil seal leak, but was quoting $70 for product plus 3 hour project draining radiator, flushing 2 or 3 times with water.
I saw your video, went to Menard’s and grabbed a bottle of Bar’s for $23 and a jug of 50/50 for $6.
Followed directions. After 10 minutes idling, there was almost no smoke coming out of exhaust. Let the truck cool off. Took it for a 5 mile drive. Checked exhaust upon returning home and no more smoke. No more knocking and rough idle.
    Thank you!

As a weekend garage mechanic, I usually don't use products like this and usually bite the bullet and do a head job and new headgasket with a valve job for good measure, HOWEVER it really depends on your case. I had a 300k mile Honda element in which I had a minor headgasket leak. It would over pressurize the radiator and push coolant out. Not by a lot, probably a couple cups of coolant every 2 weeks, but being the engine was 300k miles already, the cost for a headgasket, sending the head to a machine shop, and timing chain, water pump etc was almost the price of a JDM engine. So it didn't make economic sense to do the job as the car was completely driveable, just had to fill up the radiator every two weeks. Anyhow I tried this product for the heck of it and it actually worked. No more coolant loss. So if you have a beater this product is great, but I really wouldn't use it on a newer car or a car that I really babied. Good video!

Lol i remember buying this stuff. I bought it for my 96 bonneville ssei. I was at my sister house. Car was misfiring, idling rough, and of course heavy white smoke coming out tailpipe. I remember my sister and her husband laughing at me as i poured this stuff in my radiator saying it aint gone work. I crank the car up let it run. We waited a good 10 minutes the car started idling normal and the heavy white smoke ceased. My sister and husband couldnt believe it lol hell even i was shocked. I got in drove around no overheating and ran like a champ. It does work but keep in mind that it is a temporary solution. Save your money as i did for another car or engine. That stuff lasted me a whole year. Lucky for me i was able to save enough money for a used low mileage engine. The engine gave out the day before i was gone take it to the shop to have used engine installed. It does work an i stand by it.

I used this on a 94’ Saturn SL, it went from burning a Gallon of coolant every 35 miles, to holding perfectly for over a year, I sold the car to a friend and it was wrecked a few weeks later, it made it over 15,000 miles with no sign of slowing down.

AL yeah it was really legit, definitely got me through a time where I couldn’t afford a better car or to properly repair that one. I would recommend to pour the whole bottle in and then run it heat off until it’s set regardless of the instructions, because the few times I’ve seen it used, the half bottle they suggest starting with has never worked, and you’d probably know if the heater core was leaking, as it would most likely leak onto your floor, so I see no need to risk clogging it.

I have a 2003 Cadillac DeVille DTS, with 211k miles on the notorious 4.6l Northstar V8. I will tell you that the engine has a head gasket leak between a cylinder and the coolant passage, which causes too much pressure to build in the radiator, then the radiator bursts at the weakest area. This Bars Leaks block sealant/ head gasket repair really works.....for about six months or approximately 10k miles, depending on your driving style. I have an extremely heavy foot, so it doesn't last for me longer than that. Good luck.

    • @MrAwsomeshot
      @MrAwsomeshot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

head gasket leak between cylinder and coolant passage? I don't think you understand the problem with N* v8's bro.
The head bolts pull strip out the threads on the aluminum blocks and the heads lose clamping force. allowing coolant from the water jacket to slip over the fire rings in the head gasket.
I guess in theory exhaust gas could over pressurize the coolant system but that isn't a common symptom.
But it is nice to see some one else confirming this will work temporarily in the 4.6. I am hoping it works for me and then I can unload my caddy on someone else.

I use the Bars HG-1 - I had a 2003 caravan with 180k - Gaskets went bad. I used blue devil and a few others every year or two. I tried the HG-1 and it lasted unil 245k when I sold the van. I have a 2006 Jeep Commander 4.7 V8 as well. I did a full upper rebuild at 153k by myself when it dropped a valve seat. Pretty easy job, just have to go slow. At 210k the gasket started leaking. I have done two treatments since and at 235k its still going. I have learned that it DOES work but if the gasket is going - its likely going to keep finding new spots to leak. I leave the HG1 in the cooling system. When I have to do the heads I will but no reason not to drive it until it is completely unreliable.

@@teweruyyygbb3361 The head gasket fix worked. However, a problem I ran into shortly after was that the coolant developed a reduced flow through the radiator. But after replacing the radiator and driving for a couple months, it's seems to be holding up just fine so far. Although I think I have to contribute the blockage to a failed previous head gasket repair that had a high content of fibers in it. This fix doesn't have all of that stuff in it. I just did a bars hg1 treatment on my 91 Corolla.. I bypassed my IAC valve and my heater core.. with my engine cool I drained the coolant down.. then I took the upper radiator hose loose and poured bars directly into the head though the hose.. put the hose back on topped off the coolant.. let It idle 30 mins.. let it cool overnight.. then drove it easy for about 30 mins. Letting it cool right now... Doing one more warm up/cool down cycle then I'm hooking the heat and IAC hoses back up.. I hope it seals it... My symptoms were minor.. no overheating,.. there is steam, the cooling system pressurizes before it gets warm, the coolant resevoir overflows during hard acceleration, and oily residue in the reservoir.. I want to believe bars will resolve these symptoms.. the car does fine as it is as far as driveability is concerned but I'm doing this to prevent the head gasket from completely failing...
so far I have noticed that when sitting still while running the temperature gets a bit higher than it did before. Not that much higher though, and with the airflow of driving, it cools right off.. I take it the hg 1 has restricted the radiator some.. as long as it doesn't cause it to overheat in the future I'm ok with it.

Wish I hadn’t put the new cat, plugs/ wires, O2 and MAF sensors in until I found this. Did things in exactly the wrong order.

Try using cataclean ...took 3 attempts but engine light went off for catalysts converter o2 sensors...and it doesn't hurt to use premium gas....
