Thank you so much for this tutorial. This is something that I have always shied away from. But I feel that I could have a go at it. Thank you again. Hx💕🧵🧶
What I love about your tutorials is that, as was the case with this video, even though I may not find the need to know how to work with fine fabrics, I ALWAYS learn something that I can use with other projects. For example, I have oftentimes struggled with backstitching and never thought to simply pivot the fabric! DUH! Your teaching style, your work, your videos are perfection, Angela. Thank you so much!
I am watching this video near Morehead, Kentucky. The only experience I have with lightweight fabrics was when I made my own wedding dress back in 1968. I never wanted to do any sewing like that again.
😆 I totally understand. I have now retired from doing any more bridal for many reasons. But I still slightly flinch when I see that I need to work with delicate fabrics. Thanks again for watching.😊
Oh my god, I was struggling with sewing angled corners exactly like you've demonstrated, and so happened to stumble upon this video. THANK YOU SO MUCH, now I don't have to resort to burning my project 😂 From Malaysia with love! You've earned yourself a new subscriber 💖
I’d rather poke myself in the eye with a hot poker than sew on this type of fabric and I’ve been sewing since 1964 😂😂😂. I love your channel and your videos, please keep up the good work. Austin, Texas Yahoo!
😂😂trust me I know what you mean. I still have rude internal dialogues in my head when I see certain fabrics and jobs……. Just wanted to share how I try to make it as pleasant a job as possible😊
ive been using that pin trick forever! ive never seen anyone else do that! im so impressed you did this without any starch or anything - that's usually my secret 😉
I just have to say this! You should be a micro surgeon!!! This work requires such patience and precision and you do it so well. Fantastic explanation, flawless execution and brilliant outcome. Thanks for your tutelage ❤ Oh just edited to say, this evening watching the video from Kuala Lumpur but I’m currently living in Singapore where I normally watch your videos from. I’m otherwise from Sydney.
Thankyou!! This is EXACTLY what I was trying to work out, but my brain just was not getting there, lols. Very grateful for the excellent video on how to get this done. Many thanks from Queensland (Australia)
Thank you for the wonderful tip! You make it so easy! Hope to be able to apply your technique to my work soon! I’m watching your video in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
wowza!!! My experience with fine fabrics is to pick something else 😄this terrific video has changed my mind. Such helpful videos! Thank you - watching from Texas.
Beautiful work as always, Angela. I can't imagine doing such a lovely job as you but if i need to now i know what to do. Brilliant instruction! Thank you for teaching. Watching from Illinois. Subscriber and notified! ❤
Very professional video & sewing. I imagine that skill takes a lot of practice. It's fascinating to watch even if I won't be sewing a skinny hem on silk chiffon anytime soon! As with previous comments, we can always learn something from the techniques shown to apply to other projects. Thank you kindly!
Hello from Brisbane Australia. I love watching your videos. I’ve learned so much, thank you❤. I have never been confident enough to sew fine fabrics but this tutorial is definitely easy to follow and has given me the confidence to at least try.
I see a lot beautiful sheers at the fabric store where I work, maybe I’ll take the plunge. You make it look very doable. Watching from Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.
EXCELLENT TIPS!! Thanks for sharing!! ❤❤❤ I am from Costa Rica, I have sewn seams in delicate fabrics but was never able to get them so narrow. I am looking forward to trying this method.
Hi, I'm a new subscriber from New Zealand. I avoid fine fabrics - they always get sucked into the machine - frustrating! Your method of attaching an anchor to pull the fabric tight looks promising, I'll certainly give it a go. Thank you.
Welcome to the channel! 😊 I hope you try it. Depending on your machine, you may be able to purchase a thin fabric throat plate that has a smaller opening for needle to go in and fabric will not get pushed in
Excellent tips, and your camera work is perfection! I have large scraps of beautiful chiffon fabrics that I want to make into scarves, and this video couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you so much!
Hello, thank you for the video. This is not directed towards you , just letting you know my experience with the tearing of the fabric vs. cutting it with fabric sheers. I went to a craft store and bought some velvet fabric . I could not believe what my eyes had just seen as I was getting the piece of fabric cut by the employee. She made a small snip on the top and then tore the fabric down with her hands. Then she pins the price to the fabric which ended up being very wavy because she pulled it. I made her cut me another piece of velvet fabric but with the fabric sheers all the way down so she could leave it with a sharp cut.
For sure some fabrics shouldn’t be ripped. Best to pull at one of the woven threads to create a trail to follow as a cut line so it is on straight grain.
Wow! So professional!! I like your steam iron and went to the link of the Oliso steam iron but it's not the same that you're using in this video. Have you switched to a new iron and, if so what is the one you're using in this video? Oh, I watch you from Washington State.
to be honest I actually forgot to change out my needle and just used the universal needle that was in there. Best to use a fine microtex needle for delicate fabrics.

That is wonderful! I’m so glad to hear this. Have you sewed with fine fabrics before?😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial.

You're a great teacher Angela. I don't plan on working with a lightweight fabric any time soon, but I'll save this video just in case. Thank you.
Great! Please have a go on some scrap fabric. It’s a great feeling when it comes out!

❤watching your videos. This would have been good before sergers. Too many steps for me. A serged roll hem on the serger works for me.

Rotating the fabric instead of backstitching... been sewing for over 50 years and wish I'd known that sooner.
Nothing more frustrating when the fabric gets eaten up by the machine. You can also purchase a fine fabric throat plate and presser foot.
