Super cool video. My friends and I were urban explorers before that was a thing. We used to explore tunnels, an abandoned meat processing plant, a high school and another location I’m not comfortable admitting we went into. This was St. Paul in the 80s/90s. The idea was that other kids would get the same idea we had and we wanted them to get the chance to have the same adventure we had. I’m really glad we had these rules because the one time we got caught by the police, all we got was a trespassing charge. The entrance to the tunnel you showed looked familiar, but I don’t recall if we were ever in that one. It definitely wasn’t called candyman cave back then. Keep up the good work, be safe, have fun.

Spent many many hours out there back in the day lol we were there the day before those kids died and it was Smokey In that section so we bailed. They went another 5-600 feet back and started a fire. At about 9:41 that looks like the old throne room cave, used to have thrones carved on that platform section in the back. Carved some of the tea candle spots myself 😂 all the memories….
my mom used to go into these caves with her brothers back in the 80's. She's told me so many stories about this place. Couple years ago a classmate of mine ventured in with some friends with gopros and got some crazy footage but had to leave as someone else was in there following them, staying to the shadows. Creepy af.
Last time I was there was 1993 maybe 94, the Candy Man face has been painted over as I can see in this video... it's the entrance to a cave which someone painted what Looks like a ghost face in this video with teeth... which in the 1990s was the mouth of the "Candy Man" after the movie Candy Man came out... Sad that someone painted over it... in the video I can also see some of my own tags from all the way back 25 years ago... still there, crazy!
We love the comments people like you give. It's always fascinating to read and hear about what these places looked like before our time. Thanks for commenting and sharing your experiences, we appreciate it!
The cave you're in is the Candyman cave the hole you crawled up is what my friends called "deep throat" the stairway to heaven was closed of 20-30 years ago. After going through the mouth you go down to " the stage" it dead ends with a 10' stairwell going up to benches and such. All the holes in the walls are for tea candles. There were several entrances to this favorite, but I'm not sure anymore. I grew up exploring these back when they were called the brickyard caves.
You are correct. I grew up on the West Side and used to frequent all of these caves. I remember us all calling that area "The Stage". It was through that doorway and back to the left. I remember before whoever had graffitied the Candyman art on that door way. We used to go into Miner 49er under Prospect Park off of Ohio Street (Ohio Hill), The Mushroom Caves behind the Health Partner buildings, Stairway to Heaven, The Milk Truck Cave, and a couple others. That area was my Playground as a kid and later a teenager back in the 80's and 90's.
I remember that stairway to heaven. It was tough to get up and super scary. I graduated from Burnsville in 99. From Eagan hwy 13 and Silver Bell. Some kids from Burnsville died in there. They had a fire. Only 1 out of 5 made it by crawling out.
The area you enter @9:50 was known to us, and many others during the 2000-2004 Golden Era, as "The Throne Room". I personally hand dug the small sconce cluster behind the luggage case @10:30. I wish I was 15 and had unlimited Adderall again...
Milk truck is named Milk Truck because it was used to keep old milk trucks and milk cool. The truck that is burried is an old milk truck. Candy Man was a old silica mine for Ford. Hence why you can literally carve your own tunnels. Then was sold and used for other things. Such as disposing of road debris which was also done to stop people from exploring the cave.
I am fairly sure that my friends are the ones that dug out the Candyman to Milk Truck chartier... also they are the ones that dug out and created certain parts of the labyrinth underneath Saint Paul... like the bar top with bench seating
Yes, The old High Bridge is stuck into the caves right where the High Bridge is located! I have crawled over all that back when they stuck it in there......
Born and raised on the Westside of St. Paul. These caves were my playground when I was 8 years old until my early 20's. Sometime we would go down in there with nothing but Bic Lighters. Flicking them when we needed to see for a second. Most of the time we had flashlights. I remember back before the "Candyman" cave was called "The Stage". After someone spray painted that door way with the face of Candyman then people started calling it that.
Very cool guys, I remember going to these caves back when I was a kid and they fun by the time we moved out of the state they had started filling them in, I’m not sure but I think I remember some people built a huge bonfire in one of the bigger ones and it caused part of the ceiling to crush a few people and that’s when the city started shutting them off
We used to drop acid in those caves back in the late 80s. We would turn off all the flashlights and sit in complete darkness and laugh. We met a lot of other weirdos in there too. Although some of it looks a little different, much of it is just as i remember. There were some other caves called the battle creek caves. Those caves had roving gangs of violent skinheads. Bad news
Dude, once everyone got to the main hallway from the old Highbridge entrance (2003), we'd all turn off our flashlights and fkn RACE to the clown mouth. OH. MY. HECKIN. FUCK. DUDE. SO MANY INJURIES.
Love these videos! This is one location I have yet to find, but I feel more research would solve that! I heard most entrance(s) were no longer accessible. You guys proved me wrong! Again, great quality and thanks for sharing.
they brought a construction vehicle and smashed down the dirt opening, it'll be closed til someone digs it back out, same with spider caves 2000 feet over from candyman and milk truck, all entrances smashed on that island since someone got stuck a month or two ago.
10:30 went there today that suitcase is still there lol just more tattered. Lot of the graffiti is more faded cause of the sandstone walls now. Lot more trash too🙁
I explored thiscave in 93, YES that is stairway to heaven, i climbed up and down it with no ropes, was one of the craziest things i ever did, At the top it leveled out to a passage way that you could only crawl through, but i couldnt because the whole floor was covered in broken glass, So i made it to the top but couldnt go any further
SAME STORY IN 2003! Such a let down after all the work - trepidation mostly - just to be met with an increasingly difficult disappointment to reach, then return from.
went down one of these caves a week before city shut it down kinda of a bummer but the air quality was horrendous and so foggy that you couldn't see 30 ft in front of you
At 14:52 when you went through the rainbow tunnel did you guys look down that first hall to your right? If you go down there that's where I used to enter these caves a few years ago but I dont know if it's still open there or not. Also that candle room after the candy man door is creepy, me and a few friends went in there, and than explored where those crickets were at and when we went back to the candle room one of the candles was lit which wasn't lit before. I think if someone went in there we would have heard them since we only went over to the entrance by the crickets, but we didnt hear or see anything.
Yeah the tunnel you're referring to was sealed up entirely with debris. We wanted to explore more of the caves, but we would've been crawling on our bellies for hours.
Is there a way to contact you, I'd love to go back down there but dont know of any other entrance that's still open I was hoping to find out where you got in at if it's still open as well as the milk truck caves. I've never been able to find milk truck. And I know you dont want to put that information in public comments.
@@CasketParade We haven't been here in almost two years so we honestly couldn't tell you whether or not it's still accessible, but if you go there I'm sure there's still ways to get in. People are always making new entrances.

I was shown some of the caves in this area about 4 years ago, I dont remember where it was but one of the caves had many LARGE tunnels and some small "rooms" a couple of them had chairs/thrones carved into the walls
@@JT-ln7dz wasn’t that the one they had the Halloween town/ decor? Before some punks destroyed it all anyways. That one was cool too the one I’m thinking of was pretty empty but huuuge I think there was a large “stage” like a ghetto auditorium in one of the rooms
The haunted house in a cave. Some of the decor still stands but there is some rooms and there’s one it’s a little bit of a climb but it’s called the throne room it has a bunch of chairs
This video is absolutely badass! You guys are so lucky that you have cool places like this where you live. I’m an avid explorer and my friends and I have found some very cool underground storm drain tunnels, all sorts of really cool hidden abandoned places that are great for hanging out in but nothing like these cave systems in this video.
My God, you weren't lying. We're pretty sure that's Grant, however, we don't remember if he had left before I got up there, this was a quite a while ago. We're gonna have to look through our old footage. Good eye!
Be careful when exploring some of the Minneapolis and saintpaul caves some people have died from oxygen loss. using a lighter to measure oxygen is pretty cheap and effective at reading the air. I appreciate what y’all are doing. Keep it up👍🏻👍🏻💯💯.
Absolutely! We were actually gonna invest in an O2 sensor for these kinds of endeavors, they don't come cheap, but you can get a very accurate o2 ppm reading and they're fairly durable devices. Thank you for the well thought-out comment!
@@JleewSongs they're limestone, id rather a 1/1000 chance of a flash fire then not checking o2 and dying. If I feel a little funny, and my lighter isn't working too well I'm getting out immediately
Go ahead and flip that flame ..in a confined area .. that you aren't sure about the air content of. Genius. Maybe instead of cheaping out you buy proper equipment.
At 3:52 was a barbie head.they had it up on the wall behind you in some sort of shrine carved out in the wall with lots and lots of candles around it. Skip this cave go down off of Sheppard and find the old haunted house cave.wayy more to see and do.
Hey man, I just started caving about a month ago and saw your comment further up about you knowing every trance. Would you mind hitting me up with some of those cave entrances?
Is there anyway old caves or entrances will be open again or if someone will make another entrance from my research it doesnt look like a permanent fix and it's sad a legacy gone and away
People are always making new entrances, you'd have to look for yourself, but we don't recommend it at this time. It's also a hot area, and security is cracking down on trespassers. Plus, those caves are dangerous in their own right and emergency services don't need to be pulling injured people out of these places during these times, which is why we're taking a break from exploring until the pandemic is under control. Thanks for asking, please be safe.
The World Of Yesterday I’ve been to milk truck, pills bury, and candyman. Security is almost none existent idk where your getting that info from? Especially if you go in the early morning or night time, anyway if you’re not experienced on them I wouldn’t go in.
@@michaelmanson5740 That's just the issue, inexperienced people visit these places and get caught or in need of rescue, resulting in closure and more monitoring. We've been told by numerous people on our Instagram that some places around the cities are next to impossible to get into unless you break in or can sneak past cameras/alarms because there's a heavy trespassing issue. However, you sound like you know what you're doing, but always exercise caution.
@@michaelmanson5740 A viewer sent us this video of them tripping a motion sensor in the triple helix drain. According to them, they were chased out by a city worker. It could be a wrong place/wrong time type scenario, but the motion sensor seems like a more permanent deterrant. th-cam.com/video/pQZOpz3dN28/w-d-xo.html
I feel like there's another tunnel system like that in Saint Paul that I've been to, but the ceilings were way tall enough to drive a truck through, and there was a bunch more junk like tables and other woodwork. We came to the conclusion that there might have been a haunted house type thing set up, since we found some old masks, fake guts and stuff like that. I think it even led into a type of sewer or something?
yes it is the old high bridge that concrete was put there to try and close up the cave by the city to keep people out of them that stuff was there when i was young exploring those caves in the 1980's
The hole you climbed up was called "The Stairway To Heaven" I had alot of fun partying down there. There are some caves behind the white building that we used to call the skinny/stinky caves that a couple kids died in from lighting fires
That was not the stairway to heaven. The original stairway to heaven was done by that little parking spot where the road went under the railroad tracks.
Cool video. But all of those deaths from the into and kids getting stuck were actually in regards too Agathon Cave, known to some as Al Capone. Although only ONE of the incidents from your intro actually took place at Candyman, that was Travis Bumgum, claimed to have been left behind by friends.
I thought Travis Bumgum was in Lambert's cave. ( I briefly lived in Lambert's cave during a period of homelessness in 2002 when the entrance facing Water St. was still open.)
Corection for following brewery location, when your facing away from payne ave when your under the minnehsha street bridge you will see the two doorways im refuring to in next article. Sorry, got turned around there for a minute.
Back in the early 90's I was in there with friends. I remember it without all the trash and graffiti. It was a lot cooler back then. I'm sad to see it so disrespected😢 One night my boyfriend told me he got stuck in the stairway to have. He was really skinny and he kept going and going. He said he didn't think he'd get out but finally did.

Can someone explain to me how people die in these caves. I get it's due to carbon monoxide but can't you just leave if you start feeling sick? Btw great video!
When you start a fire in a non-ventilated, or poorly ventilated area it burns up most or all of the oxygen and leaves behind carbon monoxide in extremely high levels, so it's nearly impossible to breathe. Also at low levels of carbon monoxide poisoning, you become disoriented and nauseous, so most of the people that have died from those causes in these caves, likely got sick and lost their way and died.
Having spent alot of time in these caves in the 1980s I know people also die because when you start fires it dries the sandstone above you and huge piles of rock and sand start to drop!
I went to banholzer cave for some shitty ass rave two or so years ago on Halloween. Was literally just a boom box with a bunch of kids standing around smoking and drinking lmfaoo. It was pretty cool to explore, but as someone with asthma, I noticed it was hard to breathe instantly... And of course, you don't have any cell service in these caves. If something happens, you're pretty fucked.

I was down in those caves back in the 90s when I was a teenager. Good times.
What's ur tags
explored in the early 70's
We probably ran into eachother down there before. I was down there a lot. Especially in the early to mid 90's.
Thanks! Only shows it for a second or 2 at 7:29-7:43 right?
The cave you're in is the Candyman cave the hole you crawled up is what my friends called "deep throat" the stairway to heaven was closed of 20-30 years ago. After going through the mouth you go down to " the stage" it dead ends with a 10' stairwell going up to benches and such. All the holes in the walls are for tea candles. There were several entrances to this favorite, but I'm not sure anymore. I grew up exploring these back when they were called the brickyard caves.
Jon Nelson i climbed stairway to Heaven back in the 80;s
That intro the transition the music beautiful!!!! Still watching the video, bravo!!!
Those are chunks of the old High Bridge shoved into the caves to try to close them up
Correct! I remember all of the Concrete and rebar. I am old enough to remember seeing the Old High Bridge demolished (Blown up).
We appreciate the feedback! More videos are in the works and we're currently working on a regular upload schedule for the channel, so stay tuned!
they brought a construction vehicle and smashed down the dirt opening, it'll be closed til someone digs it back out, same with spider caves 2000 feet over from candyman and milk truck, all entrances smashed on that island since someone got stuck a month or two ago.
Blake blood9 what island?
Are you freaking kidding me. I've been working and living north of the cities for 8 years now and I had no idea this existed!
10:30 went there today that suitcase is still there lol just more tattered. Lot of the graffiti is more faded cause of the sandstone walls now. Lot more trash too🙁
Thanks for letting me know dude! I'll be out there to pick it up tonight.
Good job. Hope you guys are up to date with a Tetanus shot.
56 yr old Ojibway foster kid from Farmington explored these caves and went to juvie treatment on prospect Ave,above some party caves!

Will candyman ever open again shits been closed so long
The caves don't open or close my friend. They are reached.
I was shown some of the caves in this area about 4 years ago, I dont remember where it was but one of the caves had many LARGE tunnels and some small "rooms" a couple of them had chairs/thrones carved into the walls
tunnel of terror?
@@JT-ln7dz wasn’t that the one they had the Halloween town/ decor? Before some punks destroyed it all anyways. That one was cool too the one I’m thinking of was pretty empty but huuuge I think there was a large “stage” like a ghetto auditorium in one of the rooms
The haunted house in a cave. Some of the decor still stands but there is some rooms and there’s one it’s a little bit of a climb but it’s called the throne room it has a bunch of chairs
History, great lighting, nice camera.... I approve
:)
At the to of stairway to heaven there was a small crawl space that let to another cave where there is a small airplane still inside
Is the old subway still accessible
Ik you said it's not milk truck but hearing you guys call that extra cave milk truck made me laugh since that's the new entrance
Funny how things work out...
Been in them in 2005 saw the tire where the kids passed. So sad. It is huge in there. 😳
Where is the covered neighborhood?
There was a neighborhood that was bulldozed and basically covered up after a fire- I've explored it- street signs, decayed houses, concrete, etc
Did you guys see that face at 24:40 right next to the rubble?
Where in the screen is it?
Right side , looks like a thing looks and then runs away toward the light

Be careful when exploring some of the Minneapolis and saintpaul caves some people have died from oxygen loss. using a lighter to measure oxygen is pretty cheap and effective at reading the air. I appreciate what y’all are doing. Keep it up👍🏻👍🏻💯💯.
Absolutely! We were actually gonna invest in an O2 sensor for these kinds of endeavors, they don't come cheap, but you can get a very accurate o2 ppm reading and they're fairly durable devices. Thank you for the well thought-out comment!
Fires need oxygen, dont be a dumb ass and make a fire and you will have plenty of oxygen.
NEVER USE FIRE IN A CONFINED SPACE. You do NOT know what gasses are present and what the implications will be!
Damn did yall not go by the trampoline?

Cujo Swine hey can you let me know how to get into some of the caves
Hey man, I just started caving about a month ago and saw your comment further up about you knowing every trance. Would you mind hitting me up with some of those cave entrances?
Has anyone mapped these caves out or maybe an old map that can be accessed?
Most of the systems have been permanently closed off. This could be easily mapped, it's just a few tunnels, maybe a mile long.
I live in St. Paul my friend I would absolutely love to join u on one of these endeavors if that be possible plz let me know
Is there anyway old caves or entrances will be open again or if someone will make another entrance from my research it doesnt look like a permanent fix and it's sad a legacy gone and away

What kind of genuis starts a fire in an enclosed area ...?
Next video could u not use the wierd font in the captions, some words are hard to read
Can do! We could make it stand out a bit more.

Check out our latest video. I think you'll find it matches your description. ;)
trail of terror caves
That’s tunnel of terror I was just there
I'm been to the top. It goes to the left but have to get on hands and knees
Isn’t there like a whole city down there
There is still a secret way into a big cave network down there but I can not say where here 😉
That rubble is from the high bridge rebuilt in the early 1980,s
yes it is the old high bridge that concrete was put there to try and close up the cave by the city to keep people out of them that stuff was there when i was young exploring those caves in the 1980's
@@randy6081 I remember holding on to the rebar sticking out from the concrete as support to help climb in and out of there on several occasions LOL.

I was litteraly just their last night🤣 new entrances bois
Josh Young I wanna go in there can you hmu with an entrance
The hole you climbed up was called "The Stairway To Heaven" I had alot of fun partying down there. There are some caves behind the white building that we used to call the skinny/stinky caves that a couple kids died in from lighting fires
The stairway to heaven, what was the meaning of the lon tunnel that went no where? Were they making it a escape tunnel if needed or a vent for air?
That was not the stairway to heaven. The original stairway to heaven was done by that little parking spot where the road went under the railroad tracks.
The 3 teens died in Agathon cave
And all the other deaths you hear about took place at Agathon too
I have wanted to try urban exploration but it seems dangerous and like I could get in trouble but still fun.
This tunnel is fine to explore and those news feeds are from different tunnels
I have been in there so many time and it just gets more sketch and more complicated to get in
any chance you could drop the cords?
Great vid guys . Be safe out there 👍

there are usually bums and junkies there. born in 84 I have been there a few times.

Where do you guys put the footage from your handheld cameras if your videos come from GoPro footage?
It's not all go pro footage...
We have a head mounted gopro for recording shots where we need to be hands free (climbing, running, crawling through tight spaces, etc) we also have it on as a backup in case we're not recording with the other camera.
In our old videos we only used the GoPro, but decided a DSLR would allow us to get better footage.

Probably a good idea.😂 Thanks for watching friend!
After the fire the carbon monoxide will remain at unsafe levels until it is vented out of the confined space somehow.
Also, thank you for the compliment! We appreciate it tremendously!
@@theworldofyesterday4151 wow that's insane! Stay safe, sounds crazy! Thanks 4 the reply.
Having spent alot of time in these caves in the 1980s I know people also die because when you start fires it dries the sandstone above you and huge piles of rock and sand start to drop!
