I loved the series Lillyhammer (Netflix) and Fortitude (Sky Atlantic), but not as much as YourWay2Norway which deserves an Emmy Bryce from Calgary, Canada.

Fjols til fjells, Liv Ullmann’s first movie is a 1957 Norwegian comedy that takes place at a mountain ski resort. There’s a scene where Liv is raring to ski down the mountain with a group of skiers. It has surprises: 1. Fjols til fjells (fools on the mountain) is revered as the most seasonal movie watched of all time in Norway. 2. Liv couldn’t ski despite making you believe she was rugged - she feared for her life of accidentally going down. 3. To this day she wanted to be a comedic actress.
You should have included: Farmen /The farm. It’s a Norwegian consept from 2001 (17 seasons), where participants "go back in time" 100 years, meaning that they live and work on a pre-modern farm and take care of the farms animals. They have to do different farm tasks each week and have to make and earn their food. At the end of the week the participants go through an elimination contest between two participants. It has also a celebrity version. Alt for Norge (All for Norway). Also a Norwegian concept where a group of Norwegian-Americans are invited to come to Norway to rediscover their Norwegian roots with the grand prize of meeting their Norwegian relatives. They compete about who is «most norwegian» using various tasks with a norwegian touch.. The competitios is to show who master life as a Norwegian the most. One by one, the Americans have to leave the competition and go home - until we are left with a winner who gets to meet his Norwegian family. They travel around Norway (to experience the most beautiful places) and everyone gets to visit the place where their anscestors lived and gets a letter about their anscestors history and why they had to move from Norway to USA).

Cannot help here. Haven't watched TV in the last ten years. Having grown up pretty much attached to the screen it wasn't a snob thing, it just became too boring at some point. What surprised me is realizing how much people (myself included, back in the day) get invested in their favorite shows and how little sense it all makes once you observe it from the outside. Straight up weird.
A few ideas for Norwegian television producers: 1. Come up with sports that are totally bizarre (think Japanese gameshow level) and put them in nature and then have famous Norwegians show how they are the best of the best in the world for these bizarre sports. 2. Champignons of the Champions: Norwegians attempting to grow mushrooms in the artic circle.
Very interesting! I hadn't heard of those shows before. My favorite Norwegian TV show was the Piip Show around 2014. I LOVED that!! I would stream it online and it made me feel so relaxed to watch in real-time the birds and sometimes squirrels visiting the little café bird feeder.

Before your channel, I don’t know much about Norway except that it is the land of the midnight sun, but beyond that I can’t tell the difference among all he Nordic countries. Now I know more about the spirit and psyche of Norwegians - simplicity, frugality, love sports and outdoors or at least dress like a sportsman, love regularity and things familiar, IKEA furniture, and the clean taste of King Oscar sardines. Sorry, haven't seen the video yet, just read the summary and the comments. The list of Norwegian tv shows makes it sound like our (the United States) version of PBS aka Public Broadcasting Service. The tv shows on PBS are a mixture of British period pieces, travelogues, and cooking shows. Though this past sunday, Easter Sunday, PBS started running a series called Atlantic Crossing that I suppose Norwegians have already seen. It is about what happened in Norway during WW II starting with the invasion of Poland. The flight of the Queen of Norway to Sweden was shown on Easter, with what looks like the unfortunate death of her father in the next episode. The landscapes by themselves were quite beautiful. BTW, I am not so sure that the Norwegian tastes in tv programs are any different than the tastes of Americans.
i would not last five seconds in any of those Norwegian outdoor challenges type situations, and that woman living alone on that island is the kind of stuff i have nightmares about. this is why i made the wise decision to be born in the Tropics.
I quite enjoy watching Lars Monsen on NRK TV here in the UK. The nature is lovely and he gets to meet other interesting folk. I can't always keep up, but the norsk undertext and language help with my very slow absorption of the language. I can see quite a few shows on NRK, but not all are available from England.
As a kid a saw a norvegian tv show, it was called "whirlpool". It was made in the eighties, English-norvegian coporoduction about a woman who unexpectedly inherited a factory, an island and a house in Norway, from a man who she HD never heard of. Visiting Norway a whole array of problems opened up. It was very scary :) We lived in Hungary back in the Day and i remember that during that show, the Streets were empty. Apparently they still screen it sometimes

I would definitely watch #3, the older athletes. At 8:07, why is there a stray sock over there on the floor? :D On #2 - wait, Finland is not serious competition? In the UK its reality TV, cookery/lifestyle etc type shows ranging from good to downright awful. Id watch the woman living by herself in a remote place. Not particularly sporty or competitive but I like that there are shows encouraging active lifestyles
I think the nature lady didn't build her house or make her clothes, or survive without any food from the grocery store. The only big conflict in my life is setting the house temperature at 21 or 22 dec C.
That's true with all the prepper survivalist in Amercia. Preppers run around playing at surviving without civilization. Most preppers will starve soon as their food runs out. If the worst happens, Preppers will be like those people in the movie "The Road", where they are eating other preppers locked away in the cellar of their homes. The thing about Nature Lady is, she is living alone. Admittedly, from what I see, it would be very easy, if not natually for most Norwegian to seek isolation. The should have a show about a Norwegian forcing himself to go out and meet people in a new social environment. Making friend at new job. Talking to his neighbors. Talking to poeple in bar. I think, I'll write to a Norwegian network with my idea. Everyone will watch, to see how an average Norwegian survives in society.
Nature lady is choosing to live a life of isolation. She never claimed to be a survivalist. Not a single survivalist today builds their own houses (with sourced materials) make their clothes or do any without the help of something from the modern world. Nature lady just wants to exist in her own little world.
I would watch the Nirvana show because it matches my life very well. Life in the country, seeing animals and birds every day (deer, wild turkeys, hummingbirds, ground hogs/woodchucks, cardinals, bluejays.. . . the list goes on.) My husband and I are retired and love this kind of life. My favorite shows are on BBCAmerica and include all the startrek programs and nature shows. I loved "Last of the Summer Wine," and wept when our local PBS station stopped airing it.
NRK??! A female reporter FROM NRK in Norway came to my house last year here in the USA! I was so excited to receive a native Norwegian especially in my house! I do not know if I was on your TV shows but sure would be nice if I was IN your country enjoying it first hand!
I'm from Canada, you can't scare me. Our top program of all time was about collecting loose logs on the west coast of British Columbia 'The Beachcombers'. Scary, loose logs.

I'm not sure what the average human life span is in Norway. But I'm guessing it must be pretty long. Either that or living with this much pain, suffering, cold and sun exposure, loneliness, exhaustion and deprivation must make it seem long. Very, very, very long. (Love you two! I don't watch TV anymore, so I'm not a good person to ask. But lately I'm obsessed with the current Icelandic volcanic activity on TH-cam. It's weird because I've never been the least bit interested in volcanoes or geology. It relaxes me to see the Earth catharsis. Anyway, it feels close to your Norwegian sensibilities. I probably wouldn't watch those shows, but I think they would be popular in Colorado. There are alot of outdoor adventure freaks here.
I love nature and survival shows. I'd watch both “71 Grader Nord» / Discovery and «Der ingen skulle tru at nokon kunne bu» / NRK. We don't have many nature/survival shows in the USA. The ones we do have are manipulated by producers to make it more dramatic, I'm looking at you "Alone" and Bear Grylls' shows; I don't even count shows like Survivor. My favorite nature shows are on TH-cam: - YOURWAY2NORWAY doesn't make a lot of nature videos, but when they do it's very entertaining. It's also my favorite TH-cam channel! - Outdoor Boys is made by a dad who takes his family on camping trips. Enjoyable watching him interact with the family and his camping tips. Some of his projects are pretty funny. - Eva zu Beck makes travel videos but she also camps and very often stays in places without modern conveniences. - Steve Wallis is a guilty pleasure. His stealth camping videos are especially entertaining. There are many more, but my senior brain came up with those 3 wile I was commenting. Keep up the great work. I thoroughly enjoy your videos.

In the US we have a show called Naked and Afraid. They get dropped off in the middle of nowhere and have to survive with no clothing for a month or so.
Hi you two! This was quite revealing: your national psyche reflected in popular television! I would watch 71° I think. There's a some danger and excitement, people doing things I couldn't/wouldn't, but everyone survives. Also, I'd watch the solitary souls. I'm sure some introspection and disconnecting from the world is something we all need to do more of. As far as tv in the US goes, there is so much it's too much! I don't have cable tv but on "regular" tv, I watch mostly PBS (Public Broadcasting System.) Period drama, cooking, current events. They have a series called "Nature" which is superb and one called "Finding Your Roots." The host takes his famous guests back on their family tree as far as possible using genealogical research and DNA. It is fascinating, there's no telling what they will find out. And as someone else said, if there was a YourWayToNorway tv show, I'd be watching it! 🖥 🇸🇯😄👍
Have you seen Alone? It is about surviving in the wilderness; I think Norwegians would enjoy it. I prefer comedies--The Office, Parks & Rec, Bob's Burgers... Most of our top TV shows in the U.S. are crime shows it seems, and I think they're terrible. Love your channel, guys! I'm so happy when I see you have a new video.
I think that the tv show that I would be most likely to watch is 71 Grader Nord. We have a very vaguely similar tv show (probably copied from British tv) called The Great Race. In The Great Race people race around the globe, doing crazy tasks, with the winner getting 1 Million Dollars. I think you can watch past episodes on TH-cam.

Nowadays, I have little interest being around Americans as most of them seem so out of touch with reality and so self centered. UGH. Do y'all have any Paranormal/UFO shows? We have tons of those in the U.S. even a Paranormal Alaska show. I like the Norwegian Netflix show that came out last year called Ragnarok, that was pretty good.

In my opinion, Norway is a beautiful country and I cannot wait to return once the pandemic is over. That said, there are some things that the USA does better than Norway - food and TV shows. You did not mention Norwegian 'slow TV', which is distinctly Norwegian. As always, jeg elsker Norge!
@tlunde53-we've seen Norway's foods via Ronald...Christmas foods, lefse, matpakke, tube food, veggies and fruits...which is why Norwegians stay so fit and thin...no junk foods, no high sugar/carb intake, unless they Syden in Portugal.
@@sandraanderson2345 - My comparison regarding Norwegian vs American food was more about sheer variety and low cost. Norwegians have their share of junk food, but from what I've seen they don't consume nearly the amount that Americans do. And they don't seen to snack in between meals as much as Americans. Perhaps the biggest factor is that Norwegians don't eat much fast food. It's so expensive that it's considered a treat, rather than eaten on a daily basis. I hope to return to Norway in the not-too-distant future and eat copious amount of brunost. The best cheese I've ever eaten. Hilsen!
I like the survival shows, especially the 17 or 71 Degrees North, The Nirvana Show and the Sexy survivalist guy. The sport stuff, not sure. I tend to like sports that are games with rules, like soccer or football, but not big into it. Soccer is quite amazing though. I'm from the Southeast United States and tend to like fantasy, sci fi, comedy, creative shows to include art, home building and design, and documentary type of stuff. Enjoy old black and white movies as well. Well, I like a lot of stuff, honestly, except for violence, though I'll watch some movies with violence but good at closing my eyes at the bad parts. And I avoid horror though I have some friends who have roped me into those movies. I do my best to not be duped into that! Mostly I'm a TH-cam junky now. I think I would enjoy the Nirvana Show. We have something similar here in the U.S. called "Life Below Zero" about this woman who lives alone in Alaska. Alaska is the U.S. idea of the frontier and there are other shows on the air here about homesteading in Alaska. Another survival type show here is called "Naked and Afraid". These are people who supposedly have some survival skills and they place this man and woman who do not know each other in a wilderness area with no clothes on to see how long they last. They get to bring one item, and trust me, these are not people you would want to see naked. They blur out the naughty bits so I'm not certain what the point of having them naked is..............
Norwegian people are far too well behaved to make it on TV in the UK. The programme about all the athletes living in a house, competing against each other and just getting along would be an anathema to us. We like drama, intrigue, fights and collusion. I loved the Nirvana programme even though it's a million light years away from my comfort zone. I don't actually watch much TV but my FAVOURITE UK TV show that's on now is a show called "Would iI Lie To You". It's a panel show where two teams of celebrities read out stories about themselves or talk about a prop they've been given and the opposing team have to work out whether they're telling the truth or lying. It's SUCH a simple concept but it's honestly the funniest thing on TV right now. I can definitely recommend it :) x

i would not last five seconds in any of those Norwegian outdoor challenges type situations, and that woman living alone on that island is the kind of stuff i have nightmares about. this is why i made the wise decision to be born in the Tropics.

I quite enjoy watching Lars Monsen on NRK TV here in the UK. The nature is lovely and he gets to meet other interesting folk. I can't always keep up, but the norsk undertext and language help with my very slow absorption of the language. I can see quite a few shows on NRK, but not all are available from England.

As a kid a saw a norvegian tv show, it was called "whirlpool". It was made in the eighties, English-norvegian coporoduction about a woman who unexpectedly inherited a factory, an island and a house in Norway, from a man who she HD never heard of. Visiting Norway a whole array of problems opened up.
It was very scary :)
We lived in Hungary back in the Day and i remember that during that show, the Streets were empty.

I would definitely watch #3, the older athletes. At 8:07, why is there a stray sock over there on the floor? :D On #2 - wait, Finland is not serious competition? Cool if you guys have that nailed down. I guess all that enforced winter Hyttetur pays off. As for #1 - yes! Given half the chance, back in the day, I would have easily lived that isolated. I think I would enjoy watching that show, as well.

In the UK its reality TV, cookery/lifestyle etc type shows ranging from good to downright awful. Id watch the woman living by herself in a remote place. Not particularly sporty or competitive but I like that there are shows encouraging active lifestyles

I think the nature lady didn't build her house or make her clothes, or survive without any food from the grocery store. The only big conflict in my life is setting the house temperature at 21 or 22 dec C.

That's true with all the prepper survivalist in Amercia. Preppers run around playing at surviving without civilization. Most preppers will starve soon as their food runs out. If the worst happens, Preppers will be like those people in the movie "The Road", where they are eating other preppers locked away in the cellar of their homes. The thing about Nature Lady is, she is living alone. Admittedly, from what I see, it would be very easy, if not natually for most Norwegian to seek isolation. The should have a show about a Norwegian forcing himself to go out and meet people in a new social environment. Making friend at new job. Talking to his neighbors. Talking to poeple in bar. I think, I'll write to a Norwegian network with my idea. Everyone will watch, to see how an average Norwegian survives in society.

Nature lady is choosing to live a life of isolation. She never claimed to be a survivalist.
Not a single survivalist today builds their own houses (with sourced materials) make their clothes or do any without the help of something from the modern world.
Nature lady just wants to exist in her own little world.
I would watch the Nirvana show because it matches my life very well. Life in the country, seeing animals and birds every day (deer, wild turkeys, hummingbirds, ground hogs/woodchucks, cardinals, bluejays.. . . the list goes on.) My husband and I are retired and love this kind of life. My favorite shows are on BBCAmerica and include all the startrek programs and nature shows. I loved "Last of the Summer Wine," and wept when our local PBS station stopped airing it.
NRK??! A female reporter FROM NRK in Norway came to my house last year here in the USA! I was so excited to receive a native Norwegian especially in my house! I do not know if I was on your TV shows but sure would be nice if I was IN your country enjoying it first hand!
I'm from Canada, you can't scare me. Our top program of all time was about collecting loose logs on the west coast of British Columbia 'The Beachcombers'. Scary, loose logs.

I love the 71 degre show it's something i'll definitely do if i have the chance, about the others they cool but not as cool as the first one😅, but i like them because there is snow and i have never see it in my life, there's no snow in central america, also i'll love if you make a video about traveling in norway with some tips and cool places to visit, am planing on going to norway next year😅
I'm not sure what the average human life span is in Norway. But I'm guessing it must be pretty long. Either that or living with this much pain, suffering, cold and sun exposure, loneliness, exhaustion and deprivation must make it seem long. Very, very, very long.

I’m American but I see that I am way more Norwegian in my heart than I ever thought.
I don't watch TV anymore, so I'm not a good person to ask. But lately I'm obsessed with the current Icelandic volcanic activity on TH-cam. It's weird because I've never been the least bit interested in volcanoes or geology. It relaxes me to see the Earth catharsis. Anyway, it feels close to your Norwegian sensibilities.
I probably wouldn't watch those shows, but I think they would be popular in Colorado. There are alot of outdoor adventure freaks here.

I love nature and survival shows. I'd watch both “71 Grader Nord» / Discovery and «Der ingen skulle tru at nokon kunne bu» / NRK.
We don't have many nature/survival shows in the USA. The ones we do have are manipulated by producers to make it more dramatic, I'm looking at you "Alone" and Bear Grylls' shows; I don't even count shows like Survivor.
My favorite nature shows are on TH-cam:
- YOURWAY2NORWAY doesn't make a lot of nature videos, but when they do it's very entertaining. It's also my favorite TH-cam channel!
- Outdoor Boys is made by a dad who takes his family on camping trips. Enjoyable watching him interact with the family and his camping tips. Some of his projects are pretty funny.
- Eva zu Beck makes travel videos but she also camps and very often stays in places without modern conveniences.
- Steve Wallis is a guilty pleasure. His stealth camping videos are especially entertaining.
There are many more, but my senior brain came up with those 3 wile I was commenting.

In the US we have a show called Naked and Afraid. They get dropped off in the middle of nowhere and have to survive with no clothing for a month or so.

Hi you two! This was quite revealing: your national psyche reflected in popular television! I would watch 71° I think. There's a some danger and excitement, people doing things I couldn't/wouldn't, but everyone survives. Also, I'd watch the solitary souls. I'm sure some introspection and disconnecting from the world is something we all need to do more of. As far as tv in the US goes, there is so much it's too much! I don't have cable tv but on "regular" tv, I watch mostly PBS (Public Broadcasting System.) Period drama, cooking, current events. They have a series called "Nature" which is superb and one called "Finding Your Roots." The host takes his famous guests back on their family tree as far as possible using genealogical research and DNA. It is fascinating, there's no telling what they will find out.
And as someone else said, if there was a YourWayToNorway tv show, I'd be watching it! 🖥 🇸🇯😄👍

Have you seen Alone? It is about surviving in the wilderness; I think Norwegians would enjoy it. I prefer comedies--The Office, Parks & Rec, Bob's Burgers... Most of our top TV shows in the U.S. are crime shows it seems, and I think they're terrible.

I think that the tv show that I would be most likely to watch is 71 Grader Nord. We have a very vaguely similar tv show (probably copied from British tv) called The Great Race. In The Great Race people race around the globe, doing crazy tasks, with the winner getting 1 Million Dollars.

Nowadays, I have little interest being around Americans as most of them seem so out of touch with reality and so self centered. UGH. In my opinion, Norway is a beautiful country and I cannot wait to return once the pandemic is over. That said, there are some things that the USA does better than Norway - food and TV shows. You did not mention Norwegian 'slow TV', which is distinctly Norwegian. As always, jeg elsker Norge!
Not so much Slow TV around these days. Seems like that trend has passed. For now. Agree :)
@tlunde53-we've seen Norway's foods via Ronald...Christmas foods, lefse, matpakke, tube food, veggies and fruits...which is why Norwegians stay so fit and thin...no junk foods, no high sugar/carb intake, unless they Syden in Portugal.
@@sandraanderson2345 - My comparison regarding Norwegian vs American food was more about sheer variety and low cost. Norwegians have their share of junk food, but from what I've seen they don't consume nearly the amount that Americans do. And they don't seen to snack in between meals as much as Americans. Perhaps the biggest factor is that Norwegians don't eat much fast food. It's so expensive that it's considered a treat, rather than eaten on a daily basis.
I hope to return to Norway in the not-too-distant future and eat copious amount of brunost. The best cheese I've ever eaten.

I like the survival shows, especially the 17 or 71 Degrees North, The Nirvana Show and the Sexy survivalist guy. The sport stuff, not sure. I tend to like sports that are games with rules, like soccer or football, but not big into it. Soccer is quite amazing though. I'm from the Southeast United States and tend to like fantasy, sci fi, comedy, creative shows to include art, home building and design, and documentary type of stuff. Enjoy old black and white movies as well. Well, I like a lot of stuff, honestly, except for violence, though I'll watch some movies with violence but good at closing my eyes at the bad parts. And I avoid horror though I have some friends who have roped me into those movies. I do my best to not be duped into that! Mostly I'm a TH-cam junky now. Love you guys and always click as soon as you show up in my notifications! You both are the sexy survivalist guys of Norway! LOL!

I think I would enjoy the Nirvana Show. We have something similar here in the U.S. called "Life Below Zero" about this woman who lives alone in Alaska. Alaska is the U.S. idea of the frontier and there are other shows on the air here about homesteading in Alaska. Another survival type show here is called "Naked and Afraid". These are people who supposedly have some survival skills and they place this man and woman who do not know each other in a wilderness area with no clothes on to see how long they last. They get to bring one item, and trust me, these are not people you would want to see naked. They blur out the naughty bits so I'm not certain what the point of having them naked is..............
Norwegian people are far too well behaved to make it on TV in the UK. The programme about all the athletes living in a house, competing against each other and just getting along would be an anathema to us. We like drama, intrigue, fights and collusion. I loved the Nirvana programme even though it's a million light years away from my comfort zone.
I don't actually watch much TV but my FAVOURITE UK TV show that's on now is a show called "Would iI Lie To You". It's a panel show where two teams of celebrities read out stories about themselves or talk about a prop they've been given and the opposing team have to work out whether they're telling the truth or lying. It's SUCH a simple concept but it's honestly the funniest thing on TV right now. I can definitely recommend it :) x
Oh, is Wales not like a far remote Norwegian island? ;) We have BBC Brit here, where they show Would i lie to you, QI, Graham show etc. So we are addicited to UK humor too. Monthy Pyton are still legends and beloved Norway
