Just one thing to think about: going in "off season" comes with its own risks. The prices might be a bit lower and the crowds MIGHT be more reasonable but it doesn't guarantee that. I went in January and forgot that's when the UK, Ireland, a huge chunk of Australia and literally half of Brazil and Argentina go on vacation. Also, even in South Florida, it has winter season and the temperatures dipped into the 60s the entire time I was there. I was sooo glad I remembered to pack a jacket as I didn't dare go without it the entire time. Remember that although Florida is considered tropical it does go through cold seasons. If you decide to gamble with "off season" remember to pack at least one long pants and a jacket. Don't worry too much about swimming pools, all of Universal's pools are heated. I stayed at Cabana Bay and was surprised to see people flocking to the pool area even though my cell phone said the high for the day was only 65!
@@largol33t1 there are definitely some pros and cons to visiting during the off season! The hours are shorter, sometimes rides are closed for refurbishments, and some of the restaurants might be closed. Plus, you’re right about the crowds! You just never know!
We used Fanny packs for the first time last year on our first trip to Universal and fell in love with them! Lol The only water ride we did was River Adventure & we didn’t get very wet. We are wanting to do the others though this time & have a couple of questions. 1. Do ponchos really get the job done of keeping you mostly dry on Ripsaw Falls & Bilge Barge? 2. Is it worth it to use a back pack that day to carry extra shoes? Or would renting an all day locker work better to store them even though it looks like the all day lockers are far from the water rides (extra walking 😳)? Thank you for all your content! It’s been very helpful!
We honestly love having the lockers upfront because you don’t have to worry about anything all day and you can change clothes. The ponchos.. do ok lol. We have seen people still shocked after wearing them.
@@ThePughTwo We may do the water rides during the really hot part of the day and then head back to the hotel & change/rest a bit before heading back in. We just don’t want wet tennis shoes, but don’t want to make our feet sore wearing sandals all morning. Would ideally like to just swap shoes when we start with the water.
Outstanding breakdown and demonstrations. This is one of the biggest elements of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) I have found about the parks. So, if you weren't hauling camera equipment (spending so much of your touring day catering to your viewers--thank you!), would you feel like you can just get by with fanny packs and a drink container?
Thank you so much! Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Before we had the channel we almost exclusive only took a Fanny pack! We had one big enough to hold our coke freestyle cup and it worked perfectly!
So if you have an express pass on your phone I take it you need to have a printed copy if riding a rollercoaster since you can't take your phone. Is that correct?
With regards to the larger rollercoasters and metal detectors? Are you allowed to wear jewellery? For example a watch or bracelets? I have one that doesn’t come off without being unscrewed 😅
Absolutely! I wear my Apple Watch on them all and it’s not an issue. They just don’t want like coins flying out of your pocket and smacking people in the face lol
How perfect! Lol Universal doesn’t have an official size, but we have one that’s big enough to fit a freestyle cup in it (with room to spare) and they’re all good with me wearing it. I think as long as it meets the safety requirements and doesn’t effect the lap restraint, you’re good!
@@ThePughTwo Great! Thank you. I was hoping I could use one with a cup holder for the freestyle cup. Also, thanks for the tip on the icees in another video. Have loved watching your videos, they have really helped me prepare and so entertaining 😃
I really want to do the river adventure ride but don’t want to get wet I was told I could wear a poncho, do you think the poncho will keep me dry or do you think i’ll still get wet
You could stay fairly dry using a poncho! River Adventure is so weird. We have ridden it and barely gotten wet, but we have also ridden it and been completely drenched!
Today I was allowed to wear my very small crossbody on the mummy, but they did make me throw my small water bottle away. I also wore it on escape from Gringotts, the forbidden journey, Spider-Man and MIB Alien Attack. It is 6” x 8” and fits snuggly.
This is so useful, thank you! I am a type one diabetic so may need to have glucose tablets - would they allow me to carry these onto the rides (including Hulk, Velicoaster etc)?
They might have you put those in a locker for the big coasters, but you wouldn’t be away from them for long! Especially Velocicoaster, the lockers are inside the queue!
@@ThePughTwo that is so useful, thank you so much! And really interesting to know about Velicoaster. I will apply for the assistance pass but knowing these things really helps. PS love your videos!
They won’t let you wear it on the ride as a cross body. Also, I have a cross body bag that can be worn as a Fanny pack, and they won’t let me take it on the rides even if I convert it. I’ve never gotten a good answer as to why, but they’re adamant.
We are going to Universal for the 1st time Christmas week this year, staying at Royal Pacific - Question - hubby has pacemaker/defibrillator and cannot go through the metal detectors. Is he going to have issues with the rides (with metal detectors) or with the inspections?
Thats awesome! We hope you have an amazing trip! As far as your question is concerned, we will be honest and say that we do not know, however Universal is always fantastic with customer service and we are sure they will be able to help and accommodate you!
This was so helpful! Thank you! When do we have the put our bags in the lockers? Before or after the queue? I really want some pictures inside Hogwarts but I don't have a fanny pack. Is it worth it to by one just for the queue? Thanks!
For all of the rides except Velocicoaster, you have to put your stuff up before you enter the queue, but you can take your phone on Forbidden Journey with you! You can just stick it in your pocket and it’ll be safe. You don’t have to buy a Fanny pack!!
Dang I already bought a cross body bag and now I’m worried, I go in two weeks We were gonna rent a locker for day each day most likely just in case, and figured for water ride and big roller coasters we would store everything anyways, but now I’m wondering, especially since we want do so much with 1 day at each park, and have wands
Hi! During your last visit did they still allow Lanyards onto their coasters like Velocicoaster? Just checking to see if they changed any policies. Thanks you two!
Not on the big coasters. They make you go through metal detection to make sure you don’t have anything metal/heavy. If something came flying out of your pocket and hit someone, it could cause some serious injuries!
I've been wondering about all the rules and guidelines at UO especially what is allowed on rides. I hate dealing with lockers but it is what it is lol. Can you take a Go Pro? Some videos say yes and some say as long as they don't see it but I don't want to sneak anything.
So universal is pretty strict about not allowing filming to happen on a vast majority of their rides! There are a few rides on which we know they kind of turn the other way if you have a go pro, but for the most part, they do not allow them!
@@ThePughTwo Thank you! I've thought about vlogging a few experiences with my daughter but don't want to do anything that is prohibited or frowned upon.
Question: which ride lockers are free and which arent? You stated the water ride lockers arent free. Does that include all water rides or select water rides?
@@ThePughTwo so all water ride lockers cost money But all the other lockers are free? Would one be able to come and go use those lockers with ease or is it only saved for that specific ride?
Which do you prefer to carry in the parks : backpacks, fanny packs, or something else entirely!

@@ThePughTwo Wow! That's one heck of a fanny pack. Very cool. Thanks for the information.
@@saundby of course! Thank you for watching!
Helpful! Blue jello!
Haha we’re so glad it was helpful! We love some blue jello, too!
Love you guys
❤️❤️❤️
What about diabetic pump do you know if they let you on the ride with that?
That’s a great question, and I’m not sure about it! We would suggest calling to ask about their policies!
Do all levels of annual passes early park admission?
Only certain times of the year, most of the time only the preferred and premier pass do
Zipper pocket shorts ftw.
Haha! We wish we could get away with that!
Do you need to bring a lock for the lockers?
No, they only open/close when you scan your pass. They’re not like combination lockers.
Thankyou! Great to know!
Thanks for watching!
For the roller coasters surely they will let me keep my hotel key card that I would use to get back into the locker after - in my zip pocket??
Absolutely!
Very Nice
Thank you!
So if you have an express pass on your phone I take it you need to have a printed copy if riding a rollercoaster since you can't take your phone. Is that correct?
Correct! A lot of times they will give you one on top of the mobile ticket for this exact situation!
@@ThePughTwo thanks for your quick reply, your videos are super helpful for planning and great you can do it in a fun way!
How do some people manage to film ride footage at Universal?
Lol they just do it without permission
Great video and timely as I go there in 2 weeks - thank you! How big of a fanny pack can you take on the group of rides like Gingotts? Thanks.
@@karas502 Thank you so much! We are so happy that the videos have been helpful! If you ever have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Your cooking pot.... LoL 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂 I’ve learned you just never know what to expect with Tyler!
@@ThePughTwo and we love him for that 💙
I really want to do the river adventure ride but don’t want to get wet I was told I could wear a poncho, do you think the poncho will keep me dry or do you think i’ll still get wet
Thats awesome! We have seen them make people take them off which. Thats a great alternative for a fanny pack!
Purple jello!!!
Love us some purple jello!
Do you have a video where you showcase every locker and see how many things you can put in it?
We don’t, but we love this idea! We might do that in the future!
What about those crossbody fanny packs? Do you know if they're allowed or if it's only the waist ones you can use
They won’t let you wear it on the ride as a cross body. Also, I have a cross body bag that can be worn as a Fanny pack, and they won’t let me take it on the rides even if I convert it. I’ve never gotten a good answer as to why, but they’re adamant.
@@ThePughTwo aww that was going to be my game plan, I gotta think of what to do instead now
@@ThePughTwo thanks for the reply btw!
@@ThePughTwo This is so so helpful! Thank you so very much!!
Do they allow filming on some of the tame rides?
You can not film on any of the attractions at universal
Dang I already bought a cross body bag and now I’m worried, I go in two weeks
We were gonna rent a locker for day each day most likely just in case, and figured for water ride and big roller coasters we would store everything anyways, but now I’m wondering, especially since we want do so much with 1 day at each park, and have wands
You’ll be fine! Now that social distancing isn’t really a thing, the lockers don’t hold you up much at all!
I'm so glad I can bring my Giga Pet! LOL
Never. Forget. Your. Giga. Pet. 🤣
If you use a Fanny pack what do you do about your refillable water bottle?
We just hold onto it! We take turns with it
Hi! During your last visit did they still allow Lanyards onto their coasters like Velocicoaster? Just checking to see if they changed any policies. Thanks you two!
Yes, they just make you tuck it in your shirt. You can wear a lanyard on everything, though!
@@ThePughTwo Thanks!
Is a slim fany pack hidden under a shirt ok? I don’t trust keeping my stuff in the locker
They will make you remove it on the coasters no matter what.
@@ThePughTwo what about the mummy ride?
@@linaguida607 that would depend. Sometimes they have you remove those type of things other times they won’t.
Are the lockers big enough for a backpack?
Yes! We wouldn’t suggest like a huge backpack or a rigid one, but Tyler’s red camera backpack fits fine!
If you have shorts with zip pockets can you keep your belongings on you?
Not on the big coasters. They make you go through metal detection to make sure you don’t have anything metal/heavy. If something came flying out of your pocket and hit someone, it could cause some serious injuries!
For that last category of rides with metal detectors - can we wear our smart watches?
Yes you can! Watches, glasses, and other “accessories” are allow to a major extent!
Are these lockers free, are they located at every ride?
We discuss that in another video thats all about the lockers! Not all lockers are free and not all rides have lockers!
Would I be able to wear a water proof lanyard pouch that holds my phone on the rides?
We would assume this would be fine on all the rides except the three coasters that have metal detectors that you have to go through!
Does anyone know if I can take my sweatshirt on the ride if it’s tied around my waist?
They’ll make you put it on for anything that’s not a bench seat, just for safety!
All water rides!
@@ThePughTwo so all water ride lockers cost money
But all the other lockers are free?
Would one be able to come and go use those lockers with ease or is it only saved for that specific ride?
