At 64, a baby boomer, mercilessly discarded by my spouse a couple of years ago after 25 years in a relationship where every kind of abuse known to mankind occurred, self-awareness is a brand new concept to me, as are the activities related to it: mindfulness, journaling, and meditation. I acknowledge they are all crucial to my mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being but I struggle with getting started, drawing a blank when I want to journal or the inability to tame my mind to stay focused when I try to meditate or practice mindfulness. Yes, I am completely alone, and also completely isolated, but I do want to make the best of a bad situation, to learn and grow so that what I have been subjected to against my will, never happens again. I am hopeful King Stoic, in conjunction with God's Holy Word, and with reliance upon His Infinite Mercy and Grace, His Unfailing Love, His Forgiveness, and His Great Faithfulness, I can attain inner peace and strength.
You’re doing an incredible job by choosing the path of healing and personal growth. Remember, every great journey begins with small steps. When things feel overwhelming, return to the basics: quiet reflection, focusing on your breath, and prayer. Your past does not define you; it’s how you rise from it that shapes your true self. Trust that God walks with you, giving you the strength to keep moving forward. Each day is a new opportunity to find peace and inner freedom. Keep going-you’re on the right path, and you're doing amazing!
