Anybody else feel absolutely awful waiting for camp to start? I have all this excitement with nowhere to put that energy, except for into packing lists, and watching these videos. 😅

As an American, I also wanna point out that America is freaking huge. Generally speaking, the camps I’m aware of in my state, are sometimes an hour or even two away from stores like Goodwill, target, etc. so be prepared to do some research on where you’re going and figure out beforehand how you’re even going to get to these stores to buy the rest of your stuff. Essentially, my advice is to not just expect that you’ll be able to buy everything when you get there because it might quite literally be a month before you have the opportunity, and not to mention the energy, to go to hours out of your way to the nearest target, Walmart or consignment store on a day where you should be hanging out with friends and relaxing and recharging.
Arrange with your camp Director to have everything sent straight to your camp, mostly this is just asking permission and letting them know it’s coming. you can order things online and that way when you get there you’ll have everything you need from the get-go. Camp is a remote place and it’s really important to remember that you probably won’t have a car, and will have to depend on others to get rides. that’s fine if it’s 30 minutes away, but if you happen to be out at camp hours away from big box stores, you might need to figure out other arrangements like this. try to limit how much you depend on going to stores as little as possible especially if where going is to America where naturally everything is so spread out. It’s easy to picture the close by suburbs, but that’s less than one percent of America. America in general is a remote place and if you’re coming from abroad , especially from Europe where things tend to be less remote, make sure to plan for that and everything that it’s going to affect about your stay.
Don’t get caught empty-handed of things you need, where the only stores around you are a gas station, a “grocery store “that’s basically just another gas station, a mom and Pop restaurant, and about a dozen cannabis shops (seriously not kidding, cannabis shops are absolutely everywhere). And obviously, you definitely can’t get what you need at any of those places.

going to camp in canada this summer. What do you do about your lashes while youre out there? do you get them redone out there or remove them before u go? My lashes only ever last like 6 weeks and my camp is about 9/10 weeks
Hey!!! So I would normally get my lashes done before I go and just let them fall out when they do! I’m actually a qualified lash tech so I can do all my friends lashes at camp but no my own! 🤣you’d definitely be able to get them done out there if you wanted but I think it’s a lot more expensive x
Can you talk about the size of your checked suitcase and what liquids you would put in your checked suitcase and how much you would put in your liquids bag

should I get my nails done fro camp, or should I just use nailpolish for the summer?
Absolutely do not get your nails done, as a woodsy person myself who’s done backpacking, etc., you’re going to be amongst the dirt. So don’t bring anything you know could possibly be ruined. It would suck to spend $50 on a fresh set just for it to be ruined within a couple days. It’s fine to bring nice sundresses, because you can pretty much protect those for specific occasions. You can’t do that with your nails. You can bring nail polish if you want, but unless you have a really nice topcoat, it’s gonna chip after one day from using your hands so much. Not to mention you’ll probably be working mostly 12 to 16 hour days, you’re not going to have a lot of downtime, and painting your nails will likely be the last thing you have energy for in those rare moments of complete alone time. Just keep that in mind! You’ll probably give up shaving too, a lot of people cut down on a lot of that stuff when they go to camp just because they want more time with their friends! You’ll be plenty busy and probably not even thinking about your nails, or you’ll be thinking about how you’re ruining them right after finishing.

It isn’t necessary when working at a summer camp! If you’re going to be a lifeguard at a camp they will give you all the appropriate training before the kids get there!
